Home button stops registering clicks every once in a while (after about a week or two, until I reset it) and feels loose. If I take it into a retail store, will I be able to get a replacement?

Every week or two, my home button stops registering clicks randomly. I double-click to activate the app switcher, and it only registers one click and sends me back to the home screen, or it misses them altogether. I've tried every method I could find on the internet, and nothing has stopped this problem.
Will an Apple genius give me a replacement if I bring it into the Apple store, even if I can't replicate the issue to show them?

Regardless of what anyone else reports, it's entirely up to Apple what they will do on an individual case basis.  If your phone is still under warranty or AppleCare, and they determine that the malfunctioning button us due to a defect rather than abuse, you would be entitled to a replacement with a refub phone.  If out of warranty or due to abuse, you could get an out of warranty replacement for $199 (US).

    No, they won't. If the phone won't turn on at all, the only way to even attempt to get information off the flash drive would be to turn the whole thing over to one of those data recovery firms like DriveSaver. You're looking at a couple of thousand dollars, at least.

  • Part of my adapter to my charger broke, will I be able to get a replacement?

    The metal part that goes into my computer to charge it broke. I'm talking about the metal around the prongs, not hte prongs themsleves.  Do you think if I take it to the apple store I will be able to get a replacement, or will they charge me full price for the replacement?

    You can get a new third party power adapter on eBay for about $20

  • My middle "Home" button stops working at least once a day! Can I get a replacment?

    I got my iPhone in October of 2010 and for the past 2 months witch it is now June 2011, my middle button stops working for up to 2 hours sometimes and it happens EVERYDAY! It's very annoying and also another problem whenever I recive or am calling someone it makes this horrible buzzing noise and it makes it hard to hear the person(s). I want a replacment because this is annoying and stressfull. Is there anyway I can get a new phone...? Please help!!!

    The basic warranty is for 90 days. If you purchased AppleCare for your phone at the time you bought the phone, that's good for 2 years.
    In either case, call your local Apple Store and make an appointment to take the phone in for a repair. If there's something wrong with it, they'll fix it. You won't pay anything if you purchased the AppleCare. If you're lucky to get an Apple Store employee who is in a good mood, you won't pay even if your phone is not covered by a current warranty.

  • I was replacing my iphone 4 home button and while i was trying to take the ribbon off i pulled too hard and the part where you connect it broke so now i cant put it on, will i be able to get a replacement or not?

    So I opened my whole iPhone 4 up and I was trying to replace the home button as it got worn out so when I tried taking the ribbon off, I pulled a bit too hard and then the whole thing just broke so now I cant even connect the ribbon anymore. So is there a way that I could replace it or not?

    No one here works for or represents Apple, thus no one here can definitively answer your question. Out of warranty replacements require the phone, you're replacing, be in one piece. Generally, when you perform surgery yourself, you void the ability to take advantage of an out of warranty replacement.
    Put everything back together, make an appointment at an Apple store & hope for the best.
    Good luck.

  • If my ipod screen cracked, will i be able to get a replacement from apple? ive only had it for 8 months

    i just dropped it on the sidewalk this afternoon and i thought i dropped it on the case but it hit just right so it completely cracked. will i be able to send it to apple and get a new ipod free or replace the screen? i only had the ipod for 8 months.

    Apple will replace your iPod with an identical refurbished one for a fee; $99 (8gb) $149 (32gb) or $199 (64gb).  The warranty does not cover accidental damage.

  • My new iPad have some scratches on the screen and a little crack, will I be able to get a replacement?

    My iPad overheated and it was so hot that i loosen it out of my hand and dropped to the floor, causes few scratches n a minor crack
    will I get a replacement for that?

    Without AppleCare+, no, not even a free repair.  You dropped it, so it's on your dime now.  You wouldn't expect free repairs to your car after crashing it into a pole, would you?
    Also, note that Apple may not be enthusiastic about repairing it, because a dropped iPad may have other issues beyond a broken screen.  Other internal components may have been damaged.  Buying a replacement may be the best way of getting back a reliably-functioning iPad.  But you could also go with a cheaper repair from a third-party company that will just replace the screen and let you worry about whether or not that repair is sufficient.  That kind of repair voids the warranty, but it's already void thanks to the damage anyway.

  • My 4s phone is badly cracked and damaged, it won't turn on, will I be able to get a replacement with the out of warranty replacement?

    How much does this service cost?

    Yes, make an appointment with the Apple genius bar, while on call ask them how much.
    Give them the iPhone model.

  • My iphone screen is cracked. if i take it to the apple store will ot be able to be used at any carrier?

    I have an iPhone 4 and heard that you can take it to the apple store and tell them what happen and they will give out a free repair one time only. Do they give you a completely new phone or do they just fix the screen ? And if they give you a new phone do you have to take it to your carrier to and reprogram it to your network?

    Here is an excerpt of the 1 year warranty for an iPhone 4  / US:
    This Warranty does not apply: (a) to consumable parts, such as batteries or protective coatings that are designed to diminish over time, unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship; (b) to cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports; (c) to damage caused by use with another product; (d) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, liquid contact, fire, earthquake or other external cause; (e) to damage caused by operating the Apple Product outside Apple’s published guidelines; (f) to damage caused by service (including upgrades and expansions) performed by anyone who is not a representative of Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (“AASP”); (g) to an Apple Product that has been modified to alter functionality or capability without the written permission of Apple; (h) to defects caused by normal wear and tear or otherwise due to the normal aging of the Apple Product, or if any serial number has been removed or defaced from the Apple Product.
    And an excerpt from the Applecare for iPhone plan:
    4.1 Hardware Service. Apple may restrict service to the Covered Equipment’s original Country of Purchase. The Plan does not apply to:
    Installation, removal or disposal of the Covered Equipment, or provision of equipment while the Covered Equipment is being serviced;
    (ii) Damage caused by (a) a product that is not the Covered Equipment, (b) accident, abuse, misuse, liquid contact, fire, earthquake or other external causes, (c) operating the Covered Equipment outside the permitted or intended uses described by the manufacturer, or (d) service (including upgrades and expansions) performed by anyone who is not a representative of Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (“AASP”);
    (iii) Covered Equipment with a serial number that has been altered, defaced or removed, or has been modified to alter its functionality or capability without the written permission of the manufacturer;
    (iv) Covered Equipment that has been lost or stolen. This Plan only covers Covered Equipment that is returned to Apple in its entirety;
    (v) Cosmetic damage to the Covered Equipment including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports;
    (vi) Preventative maintenance on the Covered Equipment; or
    (vii) Defects caused by normal wear and tear or otherwise due to normal aging of the product.
    I'd take it in and see if they will cover the damage or not.

  • My iPhone 5 has been freezing up and my lock (top) button doesn't work 50% of the time..Am i able to get a replacement free of charge?

    I pre-orded the iPhone 5 and got it a week after they came out and every since I have been having problems with the lock button. It seems to only work the first time I push it 50% of the time. On top of that, my phone keeps freezing and I don't know what to do. Am I still eligible under warranty to get a replacement??

    If it is defective and your within your warranty period then they should replace it. But , have you went trhough all the trouble shooting steps such as,
    1)restart your phone
    2)reset your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up
    3)restore your phone in itunes from your backup, then if still not fixed, restore as new

    So i just got my ipod august 2012. about 1 month ago, my home button stopped working and my ipod is getting slower and slower. Would apple be able to fix it for free?

    Ipods automatically have a one year warrany unless you have violated the terms. But you can pay to extend the warranty. It depends, they may fix it for free or they may charge a bit. Im not entirely sure. But id say theres a good chance that they may fix it for free. With battery replacements, ive heard that they give you an entirely new ipod with a charge of $80. So i think it depends

    Every once in a while, letters stop working on my keyboard. I have to restart to get them to work again. Happens about once a week. Why and how do I keep this from Happening? An example is: I try to type Super Excited and the U, E and P won't work. But once I restart, all the letters work.

    It could be an accumulation of all sorts of bits of info and depending on the last time you cleared the system cache either manually or via a factory reset on that phone you might find a difference there after doing so with many other system caches.
    Clearing the application cache removes temporary files and frees up memory - your personal settings or information remain intact.
    Be sure you clear only the application cache and not the application data.
    From the home screen, tap Apps.
    Scroll to and tap Settings.
    Tap More.
    Tap Application manager.
    Swipe left to view the All tab.
    Scroll to and tap an application.
    Tap Clear cache.
    You've now cleared the application cache.

  • I wanted to know if i were to come into an Apple store, would you be able to replace my home button with the new one that i bring in?

    I wanted to know if i were to come into an Apple store, would you be able to replace my home button with the new one that i bring in?

    Nope, since no one here works for Apple I doubt they would let us behind the counter or use their tools.
    Do a google search to locate your local store and get a phone number-then call and ask.

  • My iPod 4th generation screen shakes back and forth every once in a while and the touch screen stops working. Then I have to hit the sleep button on and off to make it work

    My iPod touch 4th generation screen shakes back and forth every once in a while and won't let me use the touch screen. I have restored it at least 5 times to factory setting and it is still happening. The only way to stop it is to hit the sleep button off and then on again. It happens about once every 5 minutes. Please help.

    If you successfully (completed all steps without errors) restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that points to a hardware problem. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
