HOME BUTTON WILL NOT WORK

Home button suddenly stopped working....what do I do???

I have been told that in order for it to be "covered" I have to have some sort of apple care thing on it??  This is my son's phone and I am just trying to help him get it figured out.  When you say take it for service, are you talking about taking it to an Apple Store?

    I would try a restore just to see if it could be something software related, but if that doesn't work I would recommend taking to an Apple Store to see if it is a serious hardware issue and if it is, assuming you're in warranty, then they would be able to replace your phone.

  • My home button will not work after redoing project 3 times

    Using CS 5.5, I am using a single scene with buttons that all appear on the first frame along with code snippet based AS also on the first frame that when clicked, takes the user to a different frame. Everything seems to work fine, except, I have a button that when clicked on, is supposed to go back home to the first frame, though nothing happens when it is clicked on. Is there some conflicting code here?
    Thanks for any help!
    The following is my AS on the first frame:
    stop();
    Home_button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame);
    function fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame(event:MouseEvent):void
        gotoAndStop(1);
    Browse.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_2);
    function fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_2(event:MouseEvent):void
        gotoAndStop(5);
    Buy.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_3);
    function fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_3(event:MouseEvent):void
        gotoAndStop(10);
    Gallery.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_4);
    function fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_4(event:MouseEvent):void
        gotoAndStop(15);
    Help.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_5);
    function fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame_5(event:MouseEvent):void
        gotoAndStop(20);

    Place you code on its own layer and make sure it extends the length of your timeline so that it is accessible anywhere along it.
    For new instances of the buttons you should only need to add the event listener.
       Home_button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame);
    but you can also have this button on its own layer and have it extend the length of where it is used so that you only need one instance of it.
    The same event handler function can be shared as long as you have it on a layer that ius accessible for the length of the timeline.  To put a trace in the function, that's pretty much all you need to do...
       function fl_ClickToGoToAndStopAtFrame(event:MouseEvent):void
            trace("the button worked");
           gotoAndStop(1);
    The trace() function is one of the key tools for troubleshooting code.  YOu can use it to see what the values of different properties/variables are at any time to help track down where something is going wrong (or even going right).  For the case just shown, all it is doing is letting you know if clicking the button actually resulted in the event handler function being executed.  If it does not trace the output indicated, you will know that the button is not connected to an event listener that is calling the function.

    My iPhone 4 worked fine last night.  When I woke up this morning, it had shut off and will not turn back on.  I looked up the HOME+SLEEP key solutions, but my home button does not work.  Any suggestions?

    Try a reset: Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • My ipod has just black screen and the home button is not working. what will i do? help please!

    my ipod has just black screen and the home button is not working. what will i do? help please!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    When it says place the iPodin recovery mode use this prgram.
    RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    I realize that you said that the home button is not working, but try this anyway.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. See if the battery will show that it is charging after the iPad starts up.

  • Home button is not working sinds ios 5.1.1 update

    I bought my iPad 2 2 weeks ago and everything was working fine. I dit an update of the software and my home button is not working anymore. Could someone please help me out? Thanx in advance

    Try to recalibrate your home button.
    Step 1) – The very first thing you will need to do is launch a stock iOS app like the Calendar, Stocks, YouTube etc.
    Step 2) – Once the stock iOS app of your choice has been launched you will need to hold the power button (located on the top of your iOS Device) until the Slide To Power Off toggle appears.
    Step 3) – As soon as you see the Slide To Power Off toggle appear you will need to quickly hold the home button until this toggle disappears.
    Step 4) – When it does disappear you will have successfully recalibrated your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad’s home button.

    My home button is not working in iphone4 what should be do pls help.

    Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
    If basic troubleshooting fails to resolve the issue, the next step is to take the device to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for evaluation.
    Apple does not repair devices.
    iDevices are not user servicable.
    Any attempt by a 3rd party to repair the device will void the warranty and all rights to support from Apple and these forums.

    When normally powering the phone, there would not be a loading bar, you would just see the Apple logo. You can try a reset of the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.
    You can take the phone to Apple, by making an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the hardware checked. Apple handles warranty and post-warranty issues, not Verizon. Have Apple look at the hardware to see if there are any problems.
