Home button works sporadically?
My Home button takes up to five or six times, sometimes, before it will work. Is there something I can try or is sending it back to Apple my best bet?

All of the sudden, in order to make the home button work on my iPad 2, I have to press it without releasing my finger and sometimes, not always, after a few seconds it responds. Could this be a software glitch or a hardware problem, how can I find out and fix it

Why are only my sleep and home buttons working but the screen doesnt recognise my touch
So last night everything on my ipod touch 2nd gen was working fine. then when i woke up, only the sleep and home button worked. My screen isnt picking up any sort of touch at all. when i press the on button, it wont let me slide to unlock. when i press the on and home button at the same time to turn it off, it will not let me slide to power off. HELP!!! It is passed the original 90 day warranty (very old no damage though) and i need an answer ASAP
have you tried charging the device ?
if so and it still does not work you can try a Forced Recovery..
by holding the HOME button down and plugging it into your computer at the same time..

Why doesn't my home button work?
I just recently exchanged my iphone for a brand new one, because the "home" button didn't work, unless I pressed a thousand times. So the Apple store exchanged it for me, took it home, updated it, and its doing the same thing!!! Can ANYONE help me on this? Im about to throw this thing of the Zakim Bridge!!!!
DaveI have been having the same issue with my home button for the last few weeks, and it's only getting worse. When you went to the Apple store, did they say what was causing it? I don't have the extemded warrenty on mine, I never bought one. Not sure if they'll be able to help me with mine or not. But I came on here and was going to complain about the same issue, then I saw yours. I googled it and it seems like it's becoming a common issue, but everyone seems to have a different opinion of why and how to fix it. ANNOYING.

How to make Home button work properly
Hello, before my Ipod went missing, my Home button stopped working 3 months after purchasing it brand new. The home button suddenly felt weird one day and I had to press hard for it to eventually go to the home screen. Does anyone have anyone any solutions to make it work all the time. Trust me it could get really annoying.
P.S. I've never dropped it.
P.P.S. I've checked and it is a common thing with Apple products unfortunately.
P.P.P.S. I hate using the accessibility button.Try:

Why won't the home button work
I just dropped my iphone for the first time. It didn't have an otter box, just a thin plastic cover. It landed on it's screen but shows no screen damage whatsoever. Now I can't use the home button. I can listen to my music and play games just fine, but when it comes to getting back to the home screen with the home button it doesn't work. It makes the usual clicking sound, but nothing else. I got it to the home screen a couple of times by pushing the button with alot of force but I'm affraid that will damage it more. What should I do? Is it fixable? Do I have to take it to be repaired or can I fix it at home?
Sounds like you broke your phone. Bringt it and $149 to the Apple store for an out of warranty replacement.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. Release both buttons and await restart.

i can not reach the screen to enter passcorde, the main screen is where im stuk, i cant play music,i can recive calls
Try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off that shows up first). -
How do I get the home button working again
The home button is no longer closing any open app, so to close anything that is open, I now have to do a hard shutdown and then reboot the iPad. You can imagine how much this cuts down on my use. It doesn't matter what app is open, I'm unable to close anything without shutting the iPad down entirely. Help please
You can use the "soft" Home button for the time being:
Settings>General>Accessibility>AssistiveTouch>ON -
It is clean, it has not been close to water or something similar, it just stop working =/
My problem is fixed now, thank you. It was caused by my changing the Boot Camp partition's 'RAID1' to 'RAID0'. If I hadn't done that, Boot Camp would still have been able to 'restore' back to the one partition. It was fixed with the help of Applecare by using a terminal and typing a command to erase the IP of the Macintosh disk (not the volume) as well as the IP of the Bootcamp partition (if I remember correctly), but then I had to restore the OS and all my applications and data etc which I had previously backed up using Time Machine. I haven't taken note of the exact command terminology used. It would be wise to speak to Applecare about this if possible.
Two words of warning, 1. According to the cause of this problem, it might be wise, after reinstalling the ops system to reinstall all extra applications one by one, manually, in case a similar problem arises again. Then manually copy back all data. Or the Mac user could use the Time Machine backup and then uninstall all the added apps then re-install them one by one manually. 2. Beware as after all this the user might not have the 'Recovery partition'. There is a small recovery partition (a few 100 Mb is size) which comes with all later Macs. After all this is done this tiny partition might not be there anymore and the user might have to re-install Mavericks again to get it back, or just install the upcoming update of Mavericks due in a month or so. -

Iphone 4 home button not working
For the second time in a month, the home button on my iPhone 4 stopped working. First, it stopped intermittently, then it stops entirely. Last time, I powered my phone off and it was fine - until today. I'm syncing now so I don't lose any data, but this time, I think I am going to reset it in iTunes to see if that helps.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I got my phone in February of 2011 so it isn't covered by AppleCare, but apparently the hardware is covered under a thing I did at Verizon. Should I just get a fresh phone, even if it is another 4 and not a 4S?Hey, My home button would not work either and noticed it would work on and off sometimes. Finally I realized that it would work on and off after I plugged it in to charge.
So I figured out how to make it work without any reset. It is VERY simple:
1. Plug in you phone with the provided charging connector. (doesn’t matter if it is plugged in to a power source, the connector is going to be used simply as a tool)
2. Use slight force to push the connector a little deeper into the phone. The point is to slightly shift the hardware under the home button.
3. Keep pushing the connector into the phone and or wiggling it until the home button works again. Then carefully and slowly unplug your phone.
I realized that the home button must shift out of position for some reason. By using the connector, you can push the hardware back into place. That is prop why resynching helps. Thats because you have to plug in the phone causing the hardware to shift. I’m no engineer, but it makes sense to me, most importantly, it works!
Good Luck -
Hello my name is Leslie and i would like to ask you guys a question on how to fix my ipod or what is wrong with it. My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what can i do to fix it ?
Has the home button worked in the past, or is this been something that hasn't worked for some time? The only way to reset the device is with the sleep/wake (power) and home buttons together. Without it, you would have to wait until the battery dies and then plug it in to try and reset it. The Home button is used for several user troubleshooting steps. Without it, you cannot perform a reset, put the device into recovery mode, or place it in DFU mode. You need to get the home button repaired.
