Home folder icon has changed ??

My home folder icon has changed from the house to a folder with an applications symbol on it??? The name is still the same(my name)
Can I change it back??? And if so this won't effect any programmes etc will it? Have read somewhere that you should never re name the home folder???

GavRich79,
You should be able to, get info on your home folder. Click on it then type Command + i, you will see a little icon in the top left click it and press the delete key. Although I am curious to why it has changed?
No it shouldn't effect your programs, and No you should never rename your home folder. If there are any changes to any of your programs what would happen is they would act like they did the first time you opened them. All customizations would not exist as well as all content you added would be gone.
Hope that helps,
Weston

  • IPhoto Library icon has changed

Yesteday, I updated my iMac (Late 2009) to Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and installed the newest version of iPhoto (9.4.1).
All seemed to be working well until a few hours ago. Things I have noticed:
    1)  The iPhoto Library icon has changed to a pink flower (although the iPhoto application icon and the iPhoto dock icon have stayed at the usual (sun/camera/palm tree).
    2)  iPhoto is taking about 12 seconds to quit (I have about 8,000 photos)
    3)  Keywords is behaving strangely - some photos have keywords attached to them which I haven't put there (some of the time) and sometimes the keyword list (command K) shows up with none of my keywords.
    4) This one might be my imagination but the font used for the folders/albums looks a bit different than it used to.....!
    Hope someone can help!
    Regards

1 and 4: Nothing unusual there, Apple change these things around from time to time.
    2 and 3:
    Back up.
    Option 1
Try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards

  • Home Folder Icon gone

The title says it all. The icon is gone, and it appears as a normal folder now. I've looked in the System folder, and apparently the Home Folder icon is just gone. I don't know if it got deleted or something. Can someone please help?

I'm not sure if you can find the actual icon on your hard disk or not? If you can, just open that file in preview, do 'command-a' (select all) and then 'command-c' (copy to the clipboard.
Click on your (iconless) Home folder, and press 'command-i' (or control-click 'get info').
See the small folder in the very top left of the 'get info' window. Click it once, it should be surrounded by a blue border. Now hit 'command-v' to past the home folder icon on the clipboard in place.
If you don't have the icon, go to
     > System Preferences > Users & Groups
Click the '+' sign to make a new account. Go to the home folder of that account and do 'get info'. Click on the tiny icon in the left, do 'command-c' (copy). Open Preview. In Preview menu, choose 'New from clipboard'. Save the file to your 'shared' folder (Hard disk > Users > Shared). Go back to your own account, open the preview file and do the first part of the procedure I gave you above (i.e., command-a, command-c, go to your home folder, 'get info', click the icon to get the blue border and hit command-v).

  • My iPhoto hasn't upgraded at all, just the icon has changed, but the all graphic hasn't changed, whats the problem ?

My iPhoto hasn't upgraded at all, just the icon has changed, but the all graphic hasn't changed, whats the problem ?

I'm having the same problem...it says that it upgraded (it says iPhoto 9.5 when I go into 'About iPhoto') and the new features seem to be there (when I click on share, I have the new option of ordering photo's like it shows in the pictures on the site, ordering a photo album, etc), but the main user interface is still the old one. Instead of having the new buttons on the bottom for Events, Faces, etc, I still have all of those on the old toolbar on the lefthand side...so confused haha.

  • [SOLVED] GNOME + play icon has changed

After the latest gnome updates (gnome-icon-theme 3.2.1-1), i noticed my play button (in my uber-cool Goggles Music Manager) looked funny. The  play icon (shaped like an arrow) used to always point to the right, it now has changed directions and points to the left instead. You can see for yourself:
    /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/actions/media-playback-start.png
I wonder why and if I'm the only one annoyed by this...
    Edit: Was fixed in gnome-icon-theme-3.2.1.2-1

  • Photoshop 7's icon has changed to a document icon

After installing Tiger on my iBook (and using Software Update to upgrade to the latest version), I am no long able to open Photoshop. The applications icon has been replaced with another application's document icon!
Specifically, Photoshop's application icon has been replaced by a MacHacha document icon, and "Get Info" claims that it is a MacHacha file. The version line still identifies it as Version 7.0.1, it is a 53 MB file, and I know it is Adobe Photoshop. It is a legal copy, and I am the owner. It just seems like Tiger has replaced the icon. And of course, it's not recognized as an application, so I can't run Photoshop, and I desperately need to!
I've run Disk Utility on my drive, both from the drive itself and after starting up from my OSX Installation dvd. I've repaired all permissions.I've used Onyx to run all the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance scripts that OSX uses. I've also deleted all the log files and caches. I tried deleting the whole Adobe Photoshop 7 folder with the application and other files inside, emptying the trash, and reinstalling. The application icons were screwed up again. I did what this posting on the Adobe Forums suggested:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?50@@.3bbbf896
repairing permissions and running the CRON scripts before and after installing Photoshop. It came up with bad icons again.
This problem only occurs with Photoshop. All of my other programs run just fine and have no problems.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Ted

I just had the same problem starting yesterday, even though I don't recall upgrading anything recently. Did you ever resolve this? For what it's worth, I have noticed that Photoshop still opens if you open a photoshop file, just not if you try to open the program from its own icon or from the dock. I'm kinda stumped.

  • Folder icon colour change

My folder icons have suddenly changed from the usual pale blue to deep, royal blue. I have no idea why! Can anyone help? I'd like to change them back.

In fact it's G5, 10.6.8 now that I look (still Snow Leopard though).
It's just the folder icons that have changed colour, not the entire shade of the screen. My folders on Mail have also changed to royal blue; the folders in my Bookmarks in Firefox are still pale blue, but some of the icons for individual websites in Bookmarks have disappeared and been replaced by an empty box shape with a dotted line round it. All very strange.
I have tried logging out and back in but that doesn't have any effect.
I suppose it's no big deal but I just can't work out why it's happened!
    Thanks for your help.

  • The Home share icon has disappeared

I Have had apple TV  for a week now, yesterday the home share icon dissapeared from the top of the page on my MAC air. I can stream Music and share photo's with Pioneer TV but cannot share anything viewd on my Mac. Apple tv is otherwise working fine ? Any help appreciated.

    Hi oggy60,
I recommend checking out this article of troubleshooting steps for when the AirPlay icon is missing:
    Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4215
The icon will only appear if your device or computer is logged onto a Wi-Fi network which has an AirPlay-enabled recipient, such as Apple TV (2nd generation or 3rd generation).
If you are still unable to see the AirPlay icon, try one of the following steps:
Verify that your AirPlay-enabled devices have the most up-to-date software or firmware.
Verify that your iOS device has Wi-Fi turned on. Enable Wi-Fi on your iOS device by going to Settings > Wi-Fi.
Verify that all your AirPlay-enabled devices are logged on to the same home Wi-Fi network (check the home network names on your devices to confirm).
If trying to AirPlay, or AirPlay mirror, to your Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation), ensure that AirPlay is enabled on your Apple TV as well. You can enable or disable AirPlay on Apple TV in the AirPlay menu: Settings > AirPlay
Check Internet or network connectivity on all affected devices.
Temporarily disable firewalls (both network and local) and security software. Security software and firewalls may block ports that AirPlay uses to stream content. You can often resolve issues with security software by updating, correctly configuring, or uninstalling security software.
If attempting to use AirPlay from a third-party app or a website from your Safari app on your iOS device, confirm that the app or website is AirPlay compatible (refer to the developers of the app or website for additional information).
    I hope this helps!

  • The name of my Home folder didn't change when I renamed my Account.

I just got a new iMac and have been setting it up. Yes, I am loving it and now I'm (not so) patiently waiting for Lion to be released
However, I have a problem. When I first set up my computer, I named my account Jordan Hipwell and then signed into my Apple ID (hipwelljo). Then later I realized it would be nice to have another account that doesn't have admin rights, so I created it and called it Hipwell. Later on I decided I should rename them both, the admin account being called Administrator and the non-admin account called Standard. This is how it is currently set up.
Now when I go to finder, Macintosh HD, then Users, the folders are named hipwelljo and Hipwell. They should be called Administrator and Standard, respectively because those are the new names of the accounts.
How do I rename these Home folders?
    Thank you!

I "renamed" my user accounts by going into the System Preferences then Accounts then changed the Full Name.
I am confused as to why it doesn't just change the Home folder name to match the Full Name. Apple even says they should be the same. "your user account name and home directory name (which should match)"
Nevertheless, after reading the article, I decided I should rename both of my Home folders to match the account names since they are way too similar and confusing at the moment. So I want to rename Hipwell to Standard and hipwelljo to Administrator to match the Full Names.
However, in step 4, it says that when you rename the Home folder, you have to make it lowercase. But Hipwell is the current Home folder name and it isn't lowercase. Sooo why does it have to be lowercase if it automatically made it uppercase in the first place?
And before I begin following the steps, should I rename the Full Names (Administrator and Standard) to something else so when I create the new accounts there won't be any conflicts?
And if I follow the steps exactly, is there still a chance there could be a few problems? Like modified settings or anything?
    Thanks.

  • Indesign File Icon has changed to generic looking icon

I just upgraded to Adobe Indesign CC and now all of my file icons have turned into a white, generic-looking icon.  Can anyone tell me how to get the icon to look like the Indesign icon again?  Thanks in advance.
    David

I have a similar question.  We installed ID CS6 a few weeks ago, and when looking at files, I could determine which version of ID to open the files in by the different icons for CS4 and CS6.  Overnight, all of my icons have changed to a white box with a purple/pink square with ID in the middle, no matter which version the files were saved in.  Because we have to proofread any documents that move from CS4 to CS6 before using them (and don't have the time to do that with each document), it was very helpful to know which version to open the file in before opening it and finding that it was opened with the wrong version and having to start over again.  We are on Windows 7 PCs.  Any help you could give us would be appreciated.  We still have both versions of ID on our PCs.  Here is a screen shot that might help:

  • Can Tree's folder icon node changed to different icon?

    Hi,
Currently, the tree and tree table node's icon is a "folder" icon. Can this be customized to different icons? We would like to have different icons for the nodes for different level in the tree/tree table. For example, level 1's node is icon A; level 2's node is icon B, etc...
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I think the right way of doingthis indeed is skinning. I would try to
    - set a styleClass value to the styleClass property using EL against a managed bean method.
    - The managed bean method now is called for each node. Use EL in the managed bea method to access the #{node} EL to determine the row you are on
    - set the style class to e.g. level1, level2, level3
    - Then in the skinning you use
    level1 af|tree...{}
    level2 af|tree...{}
To define the different icons for the tree levels. Note that using DAF all icons are using folders. So there is no sense in skinning leaf icons

  • Home Screen icons - removing, changing order of?

I want to remove a number of the icons (e.g., reminders, etc).  I also want to rearrange the order of the icons I will keep.  Finally, I want to transfer some icons on scren2 to the first screen.  How can I do these?

    Hi Writhdar,
You can move and delete icons by tapping and holding any icon. They will begin to jiggle, and any that can be deleted will have a little "x" in the upper left-hand corner. You tap on this to delete the app from the device.
If it doesn't have an "x", it is an Apple core application, and cannot be deleted, but it can be moved to the last Home screen if you wish, or into a folder.
To move icons: tap and hold the icon you wish to move and slide to the right or left to move it to another Home screen
To put icons in a folder: tap and hold the icon and move it on top of another icon that you wish to store in the same folder. It will assign a name, but you can change it to anything you wish by opening the folder and tapping the bar at the top where the name is, click on the "x" on the right, and then typing in the new name.

  • "Large" folder icons automatically changes to "List"

I am using Windows 8.1 and Office 365.
There are some folders and files in my system that I prefer "Large" icons.
    Problem:
When ever I set the view as Large, they are automatically changed to "List" setting after I close the folder or system shutdown. Although sometimes they do not change, but the other times I have to change the settings back to "Large"
    again and again.
Please help me find a solution.
    Thanks

    Hi,
The icon displays correctly as I want in my PC, I suggest you rebuild the icon cache in your system, then test the issue again.
this IconCache.db file is located at: (you need to show hidden files)
    C:\Users\User-Name\AppData\Local\IconCache.db
    delete the files, reboot.
Or rebuild in this way, kill the Explorer.exe with Taskmgr then run those commands:
    cd /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local
    attrib –h IconCache.db
    del IconCache.db
    start explorer

  • Preferences Sound Icon has changed...

Hey, the Sound icon on my Preferences pane is different, all of a sudden i have noticed its changed to a strange looking icon, a kind of switch sorta thing, any ideas how to restore it to what it should be?
    Many thanks.

    Stuart,
Glad to hear that your problem has been resolved. OnyX probably took care of that recalcitrant cache.
Cache, From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia has a good basic explanation.
Macintosh OS X Routine Maintenance, by Randy B. Singer, has some practical explanations regarding the use of Mac OS X cache cleaning utilities.
The X Lab, by Dr. Smoke also has two articles that will explain the use/misuse of cache cleaning utilities:
    1. Cache cleaning: Side effects of System cache cleaning
    2. Resolving disk, permission, and cache corruption
