Home Hub 2 Manager unable to access

Hi all
First post and I hope somebody can help me
I have a BT Home Hub 2.0 and for some reason I can now not access the Hub Manager from my laptop pc, which is running on Windows XP
Everything was fine until about a week ago when we had issues using the PS3 as this also was not connecting.
I also have the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy phone which also will not connect
I have tried rebooting, turning off, but I just can not get into the hub manager screen.
Hope to hear from somebody soon please . . .

hi
tried the 192.168.1.254 and Enter
message returned as
The webpage "192.168.1.254" cannot be found DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found. The link may be broken
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.
Other options to try:
Click the Refresh button, or try again later.
If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
To attempt fixing network connectivity problems, click Tools, and then click "Diagnose Connection Problems..."
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).
Click the Back button to try another link
Have been trying this and also  http://bthomehub/   but nothing wants to work
I have tried it also on two other computers both with the same result, unable to connect to Hub
Thanks for the advice

Have you tried rebooting the Hub? Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and plug it back in again.

  • Home hub 3 manager password change.

I have searched the site for this subject but found nothing that matched my problem.
Recieved my hub today and had no problems getting onto the net. As I have no wireless on my PC I connect my hub via an eithernet cable.
As my laptop does not support the factory settings of WPA2 I need to change the settings to WEP via the Home hub settings. (bthomehub/home)
I am now faced with the following page.
I have placed the admin password which is on the pull out tab on my hub and consists of 8 letters and numbers into the admin password box. I have placed a new password in the next two box's and pressed the "change password and open BT hub manager. This I did and the next view showed me some router settings but not the security ones. I clicked on the settings tab at the top of the page and was again shown the picture above.
Surely if I had changed my password and got into the router manager, why does it keep asking me to change my password??
Previous routers ask for a username followed by a password, this does not even get this far.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thank you.

Glad you solved the logging in...
However I wouldn't stay with WEP as that is a very easy to crack OLD wireless encryption.
If you have a spare USB socket you could consider using a wireless adapter.
I use this Edimax wireless n type. in my laptop.. and "Supports 64/128-bit WEP, WPA , WPA2 encryption"
The mini size only sticks out a little a sample price HERE.
There is a Nano version spec HERE.
However the larger version   imho would stick out of a laptop too much and is more suitable for a PC.
I have them running in two laptops running vista and win 7 and a third older laptop running XP.
There are many other manufacturers of USB wireless adapters.
Just in case you thought you were stuck with WEP.

  • Home hub 3 as second router (access point) - anyon...

Hi all, I have my infinty connection from the modem to a netgear wndr4500 cable router. I am trying to get a better signal upstairs but using the home hub 3 as a secondary router / wifi point (connected to the netgear with homeplugs). I have done all the necessary changes such as disabling dhcp on the hh3 and changing its ip address to one on the same network as the netgear but outside of its dhcp range (192.168.1.254). uPnP is enabled on both routers. I can log into the settings page on the hh3 and it even tells me the list of devices on the network in its network diagram (all connected via the netgear). I can connect the hh3 wirelessly but cannot reach the Internet. Anyone help me out? Edit: since typing this I cannot connect to the hh3 wirelessly anymore as it will not assign an ip address. Oh and Ethernet cable is LAN port to LAN port.

    Thanks Keith for the guide.
Once I printed it, I just walked myself through and it appears to have worked!  This morning I had a few concerns about accessing a network storage area connected to the main hub, from the slave, but my concerns were unfounded.  I found the same with the printer.  Without the slaved access, the printer's wifi connectivity throughout the house was patchy.  Connected to the slave, it seems back to a solid thing again.
Now just the Sure Signal to sort out.  Does anyone have experience with Sure Signals and this sort of arrangement?  I acutally think the issue with that is the HH5, rather than the master/slave arrangement.

  • LaCie Raid manager unable to access localhost:8845 in OS X server Yosemite

I am running OS X server Yosemite. I have an external LaCie RAID Storage box. The RAID manager software that comes with the LaCie communicates settings by accessing the hardware via a web browser (ie. localhost:8845). I am able to access this port on my macbook pro just running OS X Yosemite but when I plug the hardware into my OS X server, that access is blocked.
Can anyone provide me with instructions to allow browser connection to the localhost.  I assume it is an apache2 problem. But maybe that is just my guess.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Got a reply from LaCie, they are aware of this problem and are working on a permanent fix. In the meanwhile I got a zip file, which contained a terminal.command file from which I have posted the code here, you need to save that file as an executable so you can run it.
As always create a backup first, goodluck!

  • BT home hub access from outside LAN

I have set up my home hub so that I can access my Nas from outside my LAN, this works fine.
My problem is I need to access my home hub settings and set up proxy settings so that I can access BBC iplayer etc as I am abroad for the next few weeks and I forgot to do it before I left.
Whenever I try to connect to the hub I go straight to the Nas
How can I get to the home hub without being at home to change the settings ?

I had the same problem, using Firefox. My home network was working fine until BT installed a new homehub and it took a little while for me to discover the problem: an IP Address conflict. My previous Router used the stanard http://192.168.0.1 address, whereas the BT Homehub uses http://192.168.1.254. Ordinarily that wouldn't matter, except that I have TP-Link wireless access unit on the FreeSat box, which just happens to have the same default address used by BT.
I changed the IP address on the TP-Link unit and the BT Homehub pages now respond instantly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Attaching a USB drive to the Home Hub 3 = slower t...

I have a 1TB external drive I thought I'd try to network up by attaching it to the USB port of the Home Hub. Unfortunately the transfer speed is so slow I could have written the files myself in pen before it finished (well bit of an exaggeration).
Is there any way to speed this up because as it stands its pointless - you may as well put something more useful in that spot like another ethernet port or something.
I tried to transfer a 200mb file and it took over 6 minutes. That is laughable performance.

There is a post HOME HUB 2.0, USB HDD, dated 28-10-2010. Use the search function (or use Google, which I did).
It's a long time ago, but it may give you some help. If you succeed in getting it to work, you may find it slow, as the Home Hub processor is slow and USB2 transfer speeds are slow.
Might be better to connect the drive to another computer in the network, and use USB3, if you have it.
I haven't networked my Windows 7 computers as I have been told that it's troublesome setting it up.
It worked well with Vista in 2010, but I had a large electric bill as I seem to remember that you have to disable the hibernate and sleep functions on the computer connected to the drive.
Would be interested to know if you have success.

  • Bt home hub 3 and home hub 2

Ok new to this what I trying to do is get a better wifi signal down stairs I have tried a wireless extender kit.
these work ok but they don't have the same name as my bt hh3 (I was told they would have once plugged in) is they a way I can have these so these are working with the same name and ip addrees as my hh3 as if I want to use these I have to connect to these every time I want to use my Internet downstairs which is a pain in the butt I also have my old hh2  is they a way I could use this along side my hh3 wireless as I have found that these bt hubs seems to have a better range then the tp link extenders if there is a way to use the hh2 with the hh3 on the same address and same name as hh3 would be great if this can be done or would I have to joine them up by the eithernet cable which I don't really want to be having a cable running across the stairs.

This is the option you need on the menu, using a HH3a as the master.
If you use a version b, then you will not be able to roam between the two wireless networks.
Use a spare BT Home Hub as a wired wireless access point  (HH1, 1.5, 2.0 and HH3 version a only)

  • ADSL on Home Hub 2 with Noise Margin 0.0 dB

I'm visiting my parents and they have ADSL (not ADSL2+) which has very slow upload speeds, causing web browsing to be very slow even though the downstream is acceptable.  I'm not an ADSL user as I have Virgin Media cable at home, so am not too sure of what I'm seeing in the Home Hub's management pages, but the first thing that stands out as a potential source of the problem is an upstream noise margin of 0.0 dB.  They're getting 8Mbps down, 64Kbps up!
From the postings I've found on this forum, the noise margin should be in the region of 6 to 10 dB for a good connection.  A noise margin of 0 dB seems to be unacceptable, so I'm not sure why it's working at all.
I've switched off all nearby electrical equipment and plugged into the master socket's test socket, and the ADSL sync speed is still 64 Kbps.

Is the noise margin the main problem, and how do we fix it?
I've been around the house with an old portable radio set to MW 612, and have heard sounds from the router itself but not of anything else nearby or between the router and the master socket.
This is the second HH2 that has been provided by BT - I think they thought the first HH2 was faulty, but it looks like a line fault not a device fault.
    Rupert.

The low upload speed and margin indicates really bad lowband interference. I would personally suspect a faulty home hub/Power unit, as this can generate a large amount of noise at about 15-20KHz, when the internal filter capacitor fails.

  • Unable to access Home Hub 3.0 router

For some reason I am unable to access the router.
I normally type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar but have started getting the 'Internet Explorer cannot access the web page message'. Doesn't work on Chrome or Safari either.
This was working fine up until a couple of weeks ago - any ideas?

    Hi apollo9 and welcome
Try clearing your browser cache (on all 3) or power the hub down for a minute or two, switch it back on, allow all the lights to go blue and try again.
also fwiw, bthomehub.home should work too

  • Problem with password in home hub manager

    Hi
I have a pc and a laptop connected wirelessly to homehub 3. connection is fine having swapped the hub for a new one.
The problem I have now is that when i go into hh manager on the laptop, I cannot enter a password to get to settings.
I get admin as user and cursor won't work  in password panel.
On the pc it works fine. It's no biggy as I can acess settings on the pc but anyone know why it is happening?
This is the screen I get. Different to the usual one.
To prevent unauthorised access, your BT Home Hub's settings are protected by a password. To change the settings in your BT Hub Manager, you'll need to enter your admin password, then click the 'OK' button on this page. Please remember the password is case sensitive.

Swapped from a what version hub? It does sound like you may of been using a v1 or v1.5 hub prior to using the hub3
What happens if you go to saved passwords on your laptop, locate the 'admin' one, make a note of it just in case and delete it. Does this allow you to access the hub manager now?

  • No Internet access BT Home Hub 5

I have a problem that has just occurred over the last 3 days. My computers, BT vision box, sky box and NAS connected to my home hub 5 via ethernet or powerline have no Internet access, they will  at times see the NAS, although currently they do not. Occasionally they will get Internet access via wifi.  All my other devices,  smart phones and tablets are fine,  via either 2.4ghz band or 5ghz band. No problems here.
On occasion attempting to access a webpage on wired devices I get a message that there has been a dns server error. Until  3 days ago everything worked fine since the purchase of the hub 5 4 months ago. I have so far tried:
    1. Restarting the hub
    2. Resetting the hub.
    Neither have worked.
    Any help appreciated.
    Steve.

Hi, thanks for the post. I've just tried to follow the instructions you've provided and on both my windows 7 and 8.1 machines the only option offered is to manage wireless connections. Is this unique to Windows 7 and 8? I don't seem to have the option to manage wired connections?
I've lost wired links to my Sky box and other devices again. Wireless remains solid...
