Home hub 3, Bt infinity keep rebooting and resynci...

About a month ago, my link started playing up.
about 2 or 3 times an hour it loss sync or something and we lost the Internet for about 1 or 2 minutes
and about every 2 or 3 hours the home hub reboots.
has anyone got any ideas on how to sorting it out?
Roger

Are you experiencing these dropouts via Ethernet or via Wireless? You could try a factory reset of the hub, on the back of the hub there is a pinhole where you stick a pen in and push to reset it back to default settings.

  • BT Home Hub 2/BT Infinity Home Hub Backup Files

Hi Guys, I have a Home Hub 2 with some specific DynDNS and port forwarding settings set up on it. I have just ordered Infinity and was wondering if the Home Hub 2 backup file is compatible with the new Infinity Hub? It would save me a lot of messing about adding all the settings back in again!
    Cheers

Just ask the engineer, he has software on his laptop which will enable him to copy all setting from old hub to new infinity hub

I did try restoring the ipad a couple of times and it didn't do the trick. I also tried updating the firmware.
The only thing that worked for a while when the ipad - on it's own - rebooted itself into a black screen with white text and automatically fixed the issue. It worked perfectly for a couple of months but it came back after I forgot to charge the ipad , does anyone know how I can force the ipad into that screen again ?

  • Accessing Home Hub 4 with windows 8.1 and Internet...

    Hello
I can no longer access my home hub manager wirelessly running windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11 from my toshiba laptop by either typing in the IP address or by http://bthomehub.home/. I can still access it by either method from a laptop running windows XP. I have Infinity and Home Hub 4a. This problem has arose recently and I did upgrade from windows 8 last week so could this be the problem. Has anyone any suggestions?
    Regards
    Adrian
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Seems to be a Network Adapter problem for most people, and usually updating the driver works.
If you have just installed 8.1/8.1 pro, you will typically need to install your motherboard and other driver software. After you have done this, most people can access the internet, but have problems with the bt hub ip/url access link.
To update the Network Adapter(s) use the following steps:
    1. search for Device Manager, and open it up
    2. Select/expand Network adapters, and the adapter(s) on your machine should show up.
    3. Right click on the adapter(s) that appear and select 'Update Driver Software'
    4. It should come up with 2 options - select 'Browse my computer for driver software'
    5. The next screen should come up with the default location for your machine, so just click the next button on the bottom right of this window.
    6. Your network adapter(s) will appear, and just select 'update driver software' and the latest version will be installed.
    7. That should fix most problems right away - if not, your machine (including hub and router) may need switched off and back on.
I can't guarantee it will fix every problem, but the most common problem seems to be that the latest network adapter drivers needs a manual update after installing 8.1/8.1 pro, even after you install your motherboard / ethernet drivers.
If you still experience problems accessing bt hub or internet, you can try this additional step:
    1. On your keyboard press Start + X keys (or microsoft logo key + X)
    2. This should open up system options dialogue box at the bottom left of your screen.
    3. Select Command Prompt (Admin) option.
    4. In command screen (old DOS screen) type the following: ipconfig /release (there is a space between config and /)
    5. This will release your ip address back into the network and cut your connection (don't worry)
    6. Whilst still in command screen, flush the dns cache - type: ipconfig /flushdns (space here again also)
    7. type exit to get out of command screen.
    8. Switch off your pc, and switch it off at the wall, also switch off router & bthub.
    9. Wait a few mins before flicking switches back on at the wall only - dont switch on pc yet - wait a min or so then switch on pc.
    10. You may need to run through the updating network adapter drivers again from the steps at the top - although this should not be needed.

  • Do Not Wish To Use BT's Home Hub 4 After Infinity ...

    Hi
I am due to have BT Infinity 2 installed next Thursday 1st August and want to prepare as fully as I can in readiness for the visit.
Right now I am with Sky Unlimited Broadband getting 13.5 down and 0.7 up.  I am promised at least 58 down and 17 up - we will see   My Sky Router currently operates in "Modem only mode" and feeds my own router, a Netgear WNR3500 which serves my house well for both ethernet and wifi.
What I require from the Engineer's visit is for him to do whatever he has to with the "Master Socket", and swap the BT Modem for the Sky one and continue to utilise the WNR3500.  i.e. I'd rather not use the Home Hub 4 router if at all possible.  The Home Hub only has 1 gigabit ethernet outlet whereas my Netgear router has all 4 sockets enabled for gigabit lan.  Indeed I have a further 4-port gigabit switch linked into the Netgear for other device useage.
So can a simple swap of the modems suffice?
Will the engineer need to tinker with the Netgear's settings - if so what will he need to do please?
I don't want the Netgear router's settings disturbed if it can be helped as they have been set up with many devices (ethernet and wifi) in mind and I seriously do not want to have to mess with them post Infinity 2.
Can anyone shed some light please on whether this will be possible (I believe it can) with some details as to the settings that need to be made to the Netgear router for it to operate alongside the Infinity 2 modem please.
Many thanks in anticipation of advice
    roz

Hi all - thanks for your replies.
Yes I am fully aware that it is a 2-box installation and that the BT Engineer will fetch an Openreach modem with him this Thursday to swap with the Sky one.
I am just concerned that with 2 x media players, 1 TV, 2 Blu ray players, a PS3, 2 x servers, 3 x mobile phones as well as 2 x desktops, 1 x Sky box and 4 laptops in our household, all networked either by ethernet or wireless, that any tinkering with my existing router  or network settings, could knock one or some of these devices out.
I agree that maybe it could be best for the engineer to install the HH4 in the first instance - indeed I would like to see if the wireless coverage is better than my Netgear Router's.  To be fair to the HH4, the only thing making me want to stick with the Netgear is that the HH4, like most modems supplied by internet providers, is not fully equipped with 4 x Gigabit Ethernet ports.  My Netgear provides Gigabit Ethernet to 3 separate rooms, all Cat-6 cabled and when Streaming High Definition - lets say a Blu ray image 3D with DTS HD Master Audio it is imperitive that I have Gigabit Lan ports.  There is a debate as to whether T/100 ports will suffice - the maximum bandwidth I have noticed playing anything is around 85mbps, which in theory, should work with T/100 ports but I think I will feel easier with Gigabit ones.
It will be cool to try out the HH4 though as I have heard good things regarding it's wireless coverage.  Our house is large and in one upstairs room wifi is "hit and miss" - if for example you get a connection that is good but it can easily disconnect - extremly frustrating when watching catchup TV!  I have tried with a "Wireless Extender" but this cuts down the speed.  That said with a possible 58mbps on tap with Infinity, the Extender's ovehead will still leave a sizable speed.
So in summary as long as the Engineer doesn't tinker with my PC's settings - but I believe BT state I must make my PC available (what for?) - then I am cool with the initial installation of the HH4.
Problem is I cannot make the visit this Thursday as I am working, so my daughter needs to be taught a few things so she can understand the Engineer and relay back to me.  I have to tidy things up too lol!  The floor of my study where everything will be, including the existing and new master socket, is a right mess so I will start tidying up later.
So finally please assure me that my network will not be affected in any way and when I disconnect the HH4 and substitute the Netgear Router, all I need to do is amend my router's Basic Settings to provide a Username/password login as mentioned above and to switch to "OTHER" (Internet Type), which will place the Netgear in a position to accept a PPPoE signal from the modem.
If I have missed anything please let me know.
Thanks again for taking the time and interest in reading this thread.

  • Modem keeps rebooting AND really slow speeds

    Hey guys
I came onto this forum because for the past few weeks my homehub 2 has been increasingly rebooting randomly.  It was a nuisance before when it happened occasionally, but in the past 5 hours (from about 10pm until about 3am)it has rebooted about 20 times! Extremely annoying when your trying to watch streaming video!!!  Iv gone through lots of posts in this forum trying to do some research and have come to a few conclusions:
    1. No point phoning bt
    2. Will probably need a replacement modem
    3. I have been experiencing absolutely dismal speeds without realising.
My dad set up our bt account but I believe it to be 2mb broadband (if its 8mb its even more shocking!) Whether it's day or night my download speed never ever reaches above 230k/s Iv tried downloading from microsoft, p2p, download etc.  Sometimes I struggle to get 50k/s at peak times!!
This has been the norm since I moved here 4 months ago.  I figured these speeds were normal because I know that you never do get the speed your supposed to but after reading on here I think now that these are FAR too low!!  My exchange is only 1.6km by road from me (867m direct).  My IP Profile will be affected by my homehub constantly rebooting but would it really make as much difference as this??  I will post my stats:

  • Solution if iOS 7.1 keeps rebooting and you have 700+ Apps (4s)

    Hi,
The iOS 7.1 update on my iPhone 4s 64GB made it reboot constinuously. I had to put it in recovery mode and restore a previous backup from iCloud; the phone was fine after restoring settings but it went again in its reboot cycle after downloading all Apps. I tried different backups and nothing changed, but I noticed that near the end of downloading Apps, the last ones disappeared! (while still being listed in Settings>General>Usage)
The solution that worked for me:
Recovery mode and restore a previous backup
Once iOS 7.1 and the settings have been restored, remove Apps in excess of 500 before they have been downloaded.
(I managed to keep 660 Apps but the last 160 disappeared before reapparing outside of folders, adding 10 full pages on the Home screen, hence previous crashes)
The "X" to uninstall Apps will take quite some time to appear (maybe 10 minutes for me). If you need time to choose/review which one to uninstall, put your phone in Plane mode. Keep only 500 Apps (maybe 600 or slightly more could work).
The phone will then be in iOS 7.1 and will not reboot continuously.
    Notes:
    - This solution is only for iPhones that keep rebooting after iOS 7.1 upgrade and with more than 700 Apps installed (and maybe iPhone 4s only).
    - If you have more than 500 Apps and haven't updated to iOS 7.1 yet, I advise you to keep only 500 Apps before doing the update.
And if you have more than 700 Apps and the iOS 7.1 update went fine, please tell us (precise the number of Apps and your iPhone model to see if there is a trend or not).
Hope it may help some people.
    Olivier

My expirience is similar on iPhone 4 and iOS 7.1/7.1.1
I have cca 550 apps, iPhone is often full, no empty space and because of that some apps are not fully downloaded and had just ghost icons.
In that situation when I drained battery to 0% iPhone after charging started rebooting. Only recovery helped.
Now it happened when iphone somehow rebooted accidentaly. It takes some tme before it restarts again. Its si vissible for some time in Itunes but backup is not possible because it reboots sooner or later.
So I tried iTools app in work on Windows. I was able to export contact, notes and delete some apps. Home on Mac I can not get iTools list apps to delete more of them to get whether 500 apps limit would make difference.
But from iTools I got thatnks to log viewer that there is some king of Springboard crash, icons missing and lot of other stuff I have no cluue off.
Probably recovery will be only solution again. I reported that to Apple but not sure they will listen.
I can not say it would happen under 7.0.x nor 6.x. I may not have so many apps before. Became apps fanatic later :-)

  • Home Hub 4 - pc webpage keeps defaulting to BT Sma...

    Hi,
Been with BT about 2 months, been fine. I then changed my password on my Home Hub 4. Now every time I open a webpage on my pc it defaults to "Welcome to BT - Get on line with Smart Set Up".....which I already set up when I signed up for broadband. (I'm using a homeplug for the pc, but we've also had the problem on our mobiles.)
I have to reset the hub in the pinhole as a workaround.
Coincidence maybe??....but a lady has been ringing us to say she was ringing her new BT phone number....it was a different number to mine, but it kept ringing my phone.....& when I ring my number it rings out where?....I don't know.
I would appreciate any advice...or any words to soothe me - Thank you.

I think it was moved because your problem sounds like a crossed line, which is why your Internet has stopped.

  • My iphone keeps rebooting and going to recovery mode. HELP

Okay, so it all started about 2 months ago when I let my iphone die. I put it on charge, then went to sleep. I woke up and found out my iphone wouldn't stop rebooting and going to recovery. I have dug so deep into forums just to find a solution but nothing has helped. Most of all I think this is a hardware issue.
I have done the DFU restore, I have restored (around 20 times.), but my iphone has a broken power button so its hard to get around some things.
It will show the apple logo, then the "connect to itunes".
Please if you have a bite of information or you have had this problem, PLEASE help me out!
    Thanks in advance.

If you are restoring from a backup that could be a reason why your issue is still there
Restore your iphone using itunes one last time, this time setup as new.
Try it for a couple of hours or the amount of time it usually takes your iphone to reboot and go Into recovery mode.
If issue stops then is something in that backup
If it continues or if you have already set up as new in those restores you have done before
call apple so they could look more Into It (1800 692-7753)

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • HELP: torch keeps rebooting and shuts down

I've tried the application loader software on desktop and from the BB site and with and without the battery in and in all cases it does not recognize any software is loaded.  All i get is that i have to add some software and I found online some forum that suggested to download any game and add it so it will stop it from rebooting.  I can't figure out how to download a game with .ali or alx.  Can anyone help as I have gone through all the help messages on here.

Make sure to remove your battery from the 9800 then do the following >
If you have desktop software downloaded you will need to go into your windows files on your computer.
Go to > program files (x86) > Common Files > Research In motion > App Loader > Loader.exe
    Click on the loader.exe
Once it loads up click next then plug usb cable form your computer to the 9800 it will detect it.
Keep the battery out, once it finishes loading and it goes into reboot put the battery back in.
Viola like a brand new 9800.
