I've had the hhb 5 since October and got to say I've had no problems with it at all I gave 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Separate ssids, turned smart wireless off and using the least congested channel on 2.ghz which is channel 6, turned off bt wifi and when using my iPhone 5 & iPad on 5ghz getting nearly full download speed of 60 meg +, it took a bit of getting used to coming from a hhb3b and openreach eci modem but good just to have one box and using less power, and my connection speed actually increased with the hhb 5 , I'm sure in time with more firmware updates it will become a better and more stable all in one solution for. Infinity
Did all that made no diffrerence whatsoever on the 2 HH5s i have tried. My Nexus 4 refuses to even connect to the 5GHz side of the HH5 and the difference using my Nexus 5 is pretty clear that the HH5 underperforms (similar results are seens with my PC). Once i can move the Christmas tree i am putting the OR modem on it as well because no matter what BT tell me my line can get it isnt managing a patch on my HH4 (which like a male genital i have sold) and the HH3 before that which was a rock solid 75/18 for 2 years. The HH5 barly managed 50/9 and thas with a maxuminum potential sync of over 110Mbit down 31Mbit up and i would like to rule the modem out before i smash it to little bits and buy another HH4.

  • Sensor hub firmware update won't install on Windows 8.1 x64 on Twist...

    Hello...
I'm unable to install the "Sensor Hub Firmware Update for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad Twist S230u" package on my Twist S230u (3347) running Windows 8.1 x64.  When I run the package, I get a "Please install the .NET 4.5.50709 Framework, then restart this update application" error.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to install .NET 4.5 on Windows 8.x as it comes with the OS.  Windows 8.1 includes .NET 4.5.1.  I upgraded my Twist from Windows 8 to 8.1 via the Windows Store before this update came out.  So, as of right now, I can't install the firmware update that hopefully fixes the annoying ambient light sensor issue...  Any thoughts?  (I assume trying to shoehorn .NET 4.5.0.xxxx onto Win8.1 may be a bad idea...)

    Hi,
I found a workaround for this.
You just have to change the .NET version in the registry. Once done, you will be able to update the firmware. Don't forget to backup your registry first and to undo changes once the update has been completed.
    Run regedit.exe.
For 64-bit Windows users, go to the following key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full
For 32-bit users, it should be here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full
You'll need to change the permissions before you can edit anything.  First, change the owner to Administrators, then assign the Administrators principal with Full Control.
Finally, simply change the value for "Version" to "4.5.50709".

  • Broadband Talk handset numbering on Home Hub 2B

Upgraded recently from an old Home Hub 1 to a 2B version.
Initially, I made a bit of a mess in registering the two former handsets used for BBTalk access and as an internal intercom.  Therefore I used the De-register all handsets option from the Hub's menu so as to start again from a "clean sheet".
However, it seems that the de-register option doesn't actually remove all the previous settings as I'm now left with a mess as to the internal numbers assigned for intercom calls between handsets.  Handset 2 is now No.4 and Handset 1 responds to internal calls to Nos. 1, 2, or 3!  All I wanted was what I had previously, ie Handset 1 assigned as No.1 and Handset 2 assigned as No.2 with Handsets 3 & 4 spare.
While its only a minor irritation, I'd like to tidy it up.  Any ideas please?

The home hub 2 type b has the buggiest firmware known to man, if you have an un-altered backup of the home hubs firmware, I would replace it and start again as the firmware still saves previous states even though you have reset it back to factory defaults.
I'm beginning to realise that the internal workings of the 2B does not accord with its smart black exterior!  I do have a slightly used HH2A that a friend gave me when my old HH1 started having problems with ADSL2+.
Does your experience suggest that a 2A is a less bug-prone device than the 2B?
Just about everyone on this forum suggest the type A HH2 rather than the type b it simply has been out long enough to have had most of the bugs worked out of it, Where as the type b has had an obscene amount of complaints about it from unable to media share, unusable connections, loss of hub phones I could go on all day lol
Having the option of either a used HH2a or a new HH2b available, I took your advice and changed over to the HH2a.  Now in respect of intercom calls between the (now) three handsets (a 2.1, an old 1010, and a really ancient DECT phone), the HH2a does "what it says on the tin" with each handset allocated just a single internal number to call even after de-registering and re-registering.
So telephony-wise I'm sorted with the HH2a.  Many thanks.

  • Home Hub 3 Firmware update stops DNS queries and m...

I am getting very poor service after 5 phones about my incident 1403**-******.  The staff cannot understand my problem even though I have explained in clear technical detail.  Basically a firmware update has caused my BT Home Hub 3 to have very slow management web interface and fails to handle DNS queries.  It connects to the Internet Fine.
The Home Hub has been rebooted and reset many times and no improvement.
    Help BT.

I have been DNS having problems with two Chromebooks accessing the internet ever since the latest firmware upgrade to my HH3 on 15 March - calls to BT went over their heads they just blamed it on the Chromebook as no other devices were having problems despite the fact that I made it clear that the problem only started after the latest upgrade - the muppet dealing with the problem even went as far as to say that BT does not support more than 6 devices connected to the hub at anyone time.
I found that the DNS problem does not affect you if you switch from the HH to BT FON even when you are on your own network.
I finaly got round the problem on the chromebooks by going into the settings page on the Chromebook, opening the HH3 settings and selecting  the option to use 'Google name servers' from the 'Network' tab.
It has long been an issue for me that the HH3 does not allow me to set my own choice of DNS unless I subscribe to a Dynamic DNS provider from their list - I prefer to use Open DNS to control my network as it allows me to filter out content across the whole network but to do this I would need to replace the HH and that would mean I would lose the Vision service

  • Manual Firmware Update for Home Hub 2?

Due to a seperate problem mentioned on another thread, I am having to use my Home Hub 2 as an additional wireless AP with my Home Hub 3 as primary router.
My HH2 is on an outdated firmware version but doesn't get updated as it is not directly connected to the ADSL connection, only via ethernet to my HH3.
Is there a way I can apply the lastest firmware to my HH2 without having to use it as my primary router for a period of time?

Hi unfortunately no the only way is with them on-line

  • Home Hub 3 Firmware Updates

Will I still be able to receive updates as I have set my powersave to activate between midnight and 7am? Thanks. Rob.

    Hi Rob
Yes as the powersave only disables your wireless signal.
"Hub 3 you can turn on BT Power Save. This feature switches off the wireless feature on your Hub so it uses less energy."
    From http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13116
And current versions from HERE are.-
    BT Home Hub 3 – Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3 (Type A) or V100R001C01B031SP09_L_B
Type http://bthomehub.home into the address bar of your web browser and press Enter.
Scroll down to the bottom of the homepage.
The software version is shown in the bottom left of the screen.
    EDIT From THIS  it says....
"If your Hub 3 isn't yet on this version, please leave it switched on to allow the overnight upgrade. You don't need to cancel BT Power Save as the upgrade will still be able to take place."

    An additional question.
The firmware gets dowloaded to your Hub automatically and then gets installed when the ACS sends a reboot command.
If you do the reboot manually does it install the new firmware ?
The answer to this appears to be that the ACS sends a command to install the firmware and then reboots the hub to use the new firmware. Therefore a manual reboot does not install the new firmware.

  • Home Hub 3 - Firmware Version & updating

Hi all - brand new on here. Apologies if this has been covered already (have had a look and couldn't find an answer).
I have just been provided a HH3 as a replacement for a HH2. I noticed the issue re the time being an hour behind etc and then noticed there may have been a fix via a firmware update.  My HH3 has Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3 (Type A). According to the BT website it looks as though I should have 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11 (Type A).
I appreciate the unit updates automatically - I was wondering whether this should have happened straight away (unit has now been connected for a day or so) or whether it will happen over a period of time?
    Any thoughts / ideas??

it will normally happen overnight there is no time scale for the update to occur

  • How to get the latest firmware for BT Home Hub-3 &...

I have had this new BT Home Hub3 activated last night.
To get connected wireless to my Mac Book Air and iPod Touch, I had to refresh the Wireless Channel in my BT Home Hub settings. The Hub has selected the Channel 11 automatically that works well for my home wireless connection.
This morning, my Home Hub has reverted back to Channel 6 and my wireless would not work. I had to go back to the settings in the Home Hub-3 to "Refresh" to select the best Channel and it has chosen Channel 11 again and all works well.
My question is how could I get the Home Hub-3 to remember the selected channel without me in the morning to refresh the setting on a daily basis?[I have tried by selecting the "Apply" and a green circle with a tick to denote that the change had taken place]
Home Hub-3 current firmware Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.45 [Type A] and I noticed a new one available and How could I update mine to the latest?
    Regards
    Solved!

if you select advance settings and go back to the wireless page, you will be able to see channel selection, likely to be on Automatic (smart wireless); here you can manually select channel 11 and it will stay there.

  • Home hub 3b latest firmware

Hi got the home hub 3b last week having a look around home hub manager checking all the different settings come across firmware which is on Software version V100R001C01B031SP12_L_B last updated unknown, is this the latest firmware?
If not how often does it get updated and does having power save mode on midnight to 7am affect this in any way
    Thanks jase.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Jaseb41,
I think the latest firmware version for the HomeHub 3 Type B is V100R001C01B031SP12 .
Having power save enabled shouldn't effect the upgrading of the home hub's firmware.
So according to your current firmware version and what the BT website says to be the latest version it seems your up-to-date.
If there is a new firmware for your HomeHub3b in the future then it will automatically be upgraded (and they are usually upgraded in batches over a period of time)
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers

  • Home Hub 5 VPN issues after firmware upgrade

Hi all, hope you can help...
I use Check Point SecureClient to connect to work, it connected perfectly until this morning and it It fails with a "failed to update policy" error.
Nothing else had changed, and I could connect to my VPN using my 3G MiFi, so I checked the home hub and the firmware had been upgraded to Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204  yesterday evening.
I've spent all day on the phone and chat to BT, and the best they could offer was a call to the tech team who might charge me for fixing this!
Has anyone managed to get round this issue? Is it a known fault?  Is a new router the best option, if so which can be configured with the minimum of guesswork?

Have you tried the VPN setting on the Homehub?

  • Home Hub Type A new firmware

I note the following message posted by Admin:
Home Hub 3A firmware version 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11 is being rolled out gradually, we started last week. This firmware includes bug fixes for the following issues that have been raised on the forum over the last few months (and longer):
    Bug fixes for loopback functionality
Fix for dual boot Windows and Linux Ubuntu machines where previously it wasn't possible to obtain an Internet connection if you switched to Linux OS
    Optimisation of Smart Wireless
You'll most likely receive the update before the end of January but we're taking our time with the rollout so it goes smoothly, fibre hubs will be first followed by adsl. We'll come back and update you if it's going to take longer to get everyone's 3A updated.
Whilst any improvements to functionality are welcome, I note that there is no mention of a) correction of the 'time bug', which of course has temporarily gone away since the clocks went went back in October; or b) any corrective action in relation to the mystery of the internittent slow speeds through the Type A's LAN ports i.e. wired speed dropping below 10mbps requiring a hub reset to restore. Any information in respect of these two bugs would be welcome especially the LAN speed issue which appears may be a hardware fault requiring a change to a type B hub!

this post by Stephanie confirms that 10mb problem will be fixed in update - although not mentioned in Stephanie's upgrade post

  • Updating Media Hub firmware *without* an Internet connection? (+ A few other questions)

    Hi everyone! :-)
I recently purchased an NMH305 in the DSG retail stock clearance, which I am planning on using as a "Black hole" for my audio, video and software collections. Before I begin setting it up though, I need to check on a few things and ask a few questions. :-)
First things first, here's a brief overview of my network and some other stuff:
My network has no connection to the Internet whatsoever. I was previously online with a major UK ISP, but because of numerous connection issues and the fact that a direct connection has negative impacts on my lifestyle, I decided to get rid of it and do without.
Consequently, all of my access to the Internet (E.G: Posting here) is done through local libraries and friends connections.
Most of my systems run Windows XP, but I also have a few Ubuntu, Fedora, and OEM firmware based clients knocking around as well. Windows VII and/or a mass switch-over to Linux may occur in the future.
All network clients are wired up with 100mbps fast ethernet (No wi-fi)
My Media Hub currently has it's 500GB WD Green Caviar installed, but my plan is to replace this with two 500GB 7200rpm Hitachi drives stripped out of USB external caddies for quicker access times, greater peace of mind (I don't really trust Western Digital products) and use the more efficient Caviar as an external HDD insted.
Because I like to keep my systems as "light" as possible; I'd like to skip using the bundled set-up CD (Which'll install a lot of stuff that I don't need) and insted set-up the Media Hub manually using a web browser or terminal connection.
I consider myself to be an experienced and advanced user, and therefore I'm comfortable with the idea of configuring and operating my Media Hub via an SSH or Telnet session.
Downloading, backing-up and restoring Firmware by hand:
Anyhow...The first question I'd like to ask is How can I backup and update the firmware on my media hub using only my local network? I know full well that I can download the firmware images using just a web browser, but I cannot seem to find a direct URL anywhere on the Linksys site. The closest lead I've got so far is http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/firmware/NMH_FW_3_18_15_B_ReleaseNotes.txt...But no logical variations of this URL that I've tried (Drop the _ReleaseNotes.txt, try .bin .img .tar .tgz and .tar.gz extensions) have resulted in success. :-(
If anyone has the direct URLs for the firmware images, I'd be most greatful. Failing that, if anyone can tell me the URL that the Media Hub uses to perform a version check (A few packets dumped via WireShark during a check will do) I can follow the HTTP chain from there by hand. :-)
Naturally, I'm assuming that there is a means by which to dump and upload firmware to/from the Media Hub (Via an SSH session, most likely) but if not, would serving the firmware update from one of my own systems (Using a record on my local DNS) work, or does the Media Hub use a secure connection for this?
Operating the Media Hub via SSH/Telnet:
As the Media Hub runs a customised version of Linux, I presume that administration via Telnet and SSH are available. I assume that the default login would be root / admin (I'm assuming the web interface also uses the root account for it's administrative logon) but is that correct...Or would I need different credentials to those for a Telnet/SSH login?
Installing new HDDs: Anything need keeping off the old one?
Finally; As I mentioned above, I'm planning to swap the OEM drive supplied with two others before use. I'm currently leafing through the users manual and am about to come across the procedure given for drive replacement, but given the size of the Media Hub's UI - Which looks to me to be pretty heavily featured - I doubt the whole lot would fit on the Hub's firmware flash...So presumably I'd need to back-up interface data and files from the OEM disk to the new disks first.
Dumping data from one disk to another isn't a problem (dd has become one of my favourite utilities over the past year) but - Thinking from the viewpoint of efficiency - Is it possible to restore the UI data and interface alone (No media lists or cache info - That's better regenerated after) without having to dump the first x sectors from one disk to another?
Also; Given the unit comes with a 5400rpm WD Green Caviar, will the Media Hub's PSU handle two standard 3.5" HDDs (Which could draw about 15-20w each) without problems? :-)
Farewell for now, apologies for the length of this post, and many thanks in advance for any help! >:-)

  • After firmware update ipod touch not working with my Sony Home Theater DAV HDX287WC any suggestions

Is there a solution to play music from my iPod touch on my Sony Home Theater System DAV HDX 287WC after recent firmware/software upgrade? However, I am still able to play music through my ipod classic, but I am really missing the the functionality of the iPod touch with my home theater system.

    - Check to see if there is a firmware update for the theater system
Sometimes this works but sometimes an IOS update breaks compatibility.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up

Hi i just noticed my home hub 5 was upgraded to version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204. i noticed the speeds went up a bit and wifi fixed a bit. i also noticed the icons changed in the home network. but one major thing is ipv 6 was enabled on the home hub 5 but global ip was not. When is t going to turn on ipv6 on there network it is pointless in updating the router with that enabled if you are not going to turn it on on your network. When will you turn it on.

    Hi thomasmulhall,
The external network has not yet been configured for IPv6 on a all customer basis. Therefore it is pointless to enable Ipv6 for the external BTW/BTConsumer broadband network if it has not been configured to lease IPv6 addresses.
