Would someone know where the home key and end keys are on the apple IMAC keyboard?

BTW... for you laptop users: fn + 'home' brings the playhead to the beginning of your sequences (timeline) or head of your clip (viewer)
fn + 'end", of course, brings the playhead to the end.

Anyone know how to use a 'home' and 'end' key on the Macbook pro keyboard?

I had a pc before, and the keyboard had home and end keys on the keyboard for quickly moving cursor to end or beginning of word or sentence. I can't figure out if there is something like that on the Macbook pro. It would be really helpful. So does anyone know if there is those keys and if so what do i use?

On a smaller keyboard, such as the wireless, or on portables, you can use fn- left arrow for home and fn- right arrow for end.
On a Mac, 'home and 'end' take you to the beginning and the end of document, respectively. Getting to the beginning or end of a line is done with cmd- leftarrow and cmd- rightarrow. Emacs shortcuts, such a ctrl-a and ctrl- e also work in most places, where the app is done right.

"Home" and "End" keys in FCP on MacBook Pro (2008/09)

I just started using my new MacBook Pro 17. While I was in FCP and tried to move the playhead to the "Home" position, I realized that my keyboard doesn't have a "Home" or an "End" key. What keys/functions do I need to use in this case? When I tried to look up the solution online, I found a forum in which someone suggested "Command/Arrow Key" (up for "Home" and "down for "End") but that didn't work.

On my macbook pro hitting function (the "fn" key) and the left arrow works for home, and function and right works for end. My laptop is a few years old, but I'd assume it's still the case.

My up and down arrows as well as page up and page down no longer work properly only when using firefox. Page up and down function more like the "home" and "end" keys as do the arrow keys.

Honestly I'm not sure if these began just after I updated FF to the current release, but it's been happening for at least 2 weeks. The arrow keys and page up and page down keys all work as if I'm pressing the 'home' and 'end' keys on my keyboard. This is only when using FF. Please contact me if you need more clarification. Custom functionality for home and end keys?

I don't know anything about automate, but I was wondering if it's possible to do this:
I'm a former PC user and on PCs you could use the 'home' and 'end' keys to go to the beginning and end of one line (subsequently, you could hold shift + home/end to highlight from your current cursor position to the beginning or end of a line). This functionality is extremely helpful for text editing and programming. Luckily the versions of Word and Dreamweaver I have on mac do use this, but TextEdit, Flash, and others do not. Is there anyway to program this kind of functionality? And if so how? And why is basic functionality like this different program to program on macs? PC's were at least consistent. Thanks!

The Command and Option shortcuts will take some getting used to, but that will work. Thanks! an external text editor would be okay for some things, but not Flash ActionScripting within a flash file.
I just wish some of the more basic functions between mac and pc were the same. I think both platforms would have an easier time getting users to switch if they were a little more consistent and took some of the good features of each into consideration.

Home and end key not working on ubuntu 14

I am on Firefox on Ubuntu 14.
Home and END keys do not work properly as they do not take me to the top or the bottom of a page. Caret browsing (F7) is not activated. This problem persists with all add-ons disabled.

I understand that there are two short cuts that do not work with caret browsing turned off. Please also see this menu:
Options > Advanced > disable "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages" option present in "General" tab.
If this is not the issue, please also contact the party that compiles Firefox specifically for Ubuntu, unless you are using the linux from [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux here]?

Mac Mini w/ Apple USB keyboard - question about home and end keys

I purchased a USB white Apple keyboard to go with my Mac mini.
My question concerns the home and end keys. When I put the cusor focus in a text field or text area, I would expect that hitting the home key would take me to the beginning of the line and hitting the end key would take me to the end of the line.
That's not the case?
If a vertical scrollbar is used in the window, then the home key takes me to the top of the window and the end key takes me to the bottom of the window.
Please forgive me, I've been on a PC for the last 10+ years, so I thought I should ask.
What key or key combo moves you to the start and end of a text in a text field or text area?

Use the arrow keys with the command key (⌘):
command + left arrow -> beginning of the line
command + right arrow -> end of the line
command + arrow up -> beginning of the text
command + arrow down -> end of the text
Explore also the option key (⌥) possibilities, with the arrow keys:
very handy too.
Yes, the Home, End, Pageup and Pagedown keys are for controlling the whole document, not the text itself.

Direct replacement for "END", "HOME", "INS" and "DELETE" key in Bootcamp XP

I am a new user for MacBook Pro and installed XP in bootcamp as well as installed VMware Fusion for booting XP concurrently in MacOS X.
One annoying problem is I cannot find my MacBook implementing the "END", "HOME", "INS" and "DELETE" key, where some XP application, such as SecureCRT for console access, will use those key as shortcut. For example, in SecureCRT, Ctrl+INS and Shift+INS are the shortcut to copy and paste content in clipboard, but it cannot accept Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.

Finally I found the solution from VMWare Preference where actually I can "Add" additional mapping for "INS", "END", etc.
Now I can 100% map those key as I worked in XP.

OSX FF 4 beta - change Home and End key behavior

On OSX, Home and End keys go to the top and bottom of the page, respectively. We need a simple way to change this to the more typical beginning/end of '''line''' behavior. This is an extremely frustrating issue in an otherwise perfect browser.

Looks like I spoke to soon. The Keyfixer extension has been updated to work with FF 4, and is in the Add-on gallery.

Just switched to MAC from Windows...missing my home and end keys. Is there a MAC equivalent?

I am sure there are combination keystrokes to equate to windows, but haven't found them all yet. What is a good resource for finding this information?

If you get a wireless PC keyboard with Home and End keys, most programs that use that often will support it.
For instance Firefox and the free LibreOffice supports those features.
It's just a lot of Apple programs don't.

Any fix on home key and search key not working?

I got this phone about a month ago but never had time to really learn it until now and so far I am not impressed. Should have stayed with HTC and too late to change. My home key and search key do not work. I have tried a reset and nothing. Anyone have a fix for this? And his 4G thing? ya. Again my 3g HTC worked better.

The Droid Razr doesn't have a user-removable battery.
I also encountered an issue where my home key got reassigned to another function, such as not working at all and then only opening a "choose for default operation" menu that didn't give me an option to make it a home key again. I found it was from downloading a launcher from the play store and it's corresponding unlocker. It basically took over my phone and severely limited the UI. After uninstalling the software there was still a resident program that wouldn't stop running and it wasn't detected by my task manager (a virus). I had to go through a complete "factory default' reset - which required me to re-install all my market apps.
To do a factory reset, go to Menu>Settings>Privacy>Factory data reset.
But first you may want to go to Menu>Settings> and use the backup assistant for your contacts so you don't have to key them in individually.
Hope this fixes the problem for you. I'm on my third Razr in two months for various issues.

The fn key and movement keys on a MacBookPro 2 GHz Intel Core Duo

This is my first notebook computer so it may be obvious, but I cannot figure out how to use the fn key in combination with movement keys. While the fn home (right arrow) and end keys work, if you add any other command keys, like ctrl, shift, option, cmd the fn key seems not to function. For example shift-home (fn-left arrow-shift) which should extend the selection to the beginning of the line just functions as shift-left arrow. When I attach an external keyboard everything works as it should.
Actually, having played with things a bit just now, things seem to work oddly. If I hit shift (and hold it) then fn (and hold) and then left arrow, things work as they should, but if I hit fn (and hold) then shift (and hold) and then left arrow, it reacts as though I hit shift and left arrow only.
Is this normal (if it is it is strange to me)?

That sounds like a good idea, but how does one report bugs to apple? There is nothing on the site that makes it obvious.

Arrow Left key and arrow Up key and fn key not working properly !? Lenovo G580 PLEASE HELP x_x !

Hi guys i have a Lenovo G580 im not sure which version but i can tell you its intel i.3 and its got usb3.0 on it and 500gb hdd. 2.20Ghz 4.00RAM.
been days that i try to solve my Fn Key problem and also the arrow left and arrow up keys < i was using Win8 and downgraded to Win7 last week and that problem has occured since ,it misbehaves and it only works for a short amount of time it randomly works those keys FN.arrow up/left keys randomly they work , i upgraded again to Win8.1 now for the first few boots evrything worked well fn key and arrow keys np.< and now again it stops working.. and btw. whenever i press hard against it it would work pressing down the fn and arrow left/up keys when i press really hard it works but then again it doesnt Soo end of the story its not functioning properly and i have Energy management and Display driver HD 3000 installed and i still got this problem .. is there any fix to this anyone please !?

Hey mate the keys are faulty nothing can fix it except for buying a new Replacement! , i fixed the problem simply by Replacing the KEYBOARD ! i went downtown and looked for a g580 keyboard and they didnt exactly have the same version g580 they had c or b580 i dont remmber what letter it was sorry ! but the thing is the whole keyboard layout of many Lenovo Laptops are the same just look one thats the same, cause mine wasnt for G580 but the thing is its still working perfectly ! only problem is the Screws didnt fit i had to cut out the sides of the screw hole thingies to make the keyboard fit in well in my G580 , Simply put all you need is a new keyboard replacement buy one they cost between 20-40$ worth it cause you wont have any faulty keys anymore evrything will work fine. no need to reinstall anything just replace it with new Keyboard. and Plus its easy to replace it by yourself. i replaced mine by myself easily. Problem fixed.

HP G62-348CA number keys and arrow keys not working

Good day Experts! Can someone help me fix my laptop? I got G62-348CA unit. only number 5 and 6 in my number keys are working and also arrow keys down and right are not functioning. at first it was built with windows 7 home premium 64bit but then i have to reformat my laptop with windows 7 ultimate but i dont have available 64bit so i install 32bit of the OS. before i install the OS, number keys and arrow keys are working fine but after I reformat my laptop with ultimate 32bit, the said keys are not working. please guys help me. im having trouble with my unit and i dont know what to do. its pretty bad i dont have any idea. all the best with you guys and i'm hoping for your fast and kind response. thank you!

Because the operating system does not affect the keyboard in that way . .. If the operating system has issues it would switch keys or assign wrong characters.

With respect to functionality both are same.
But in ABAP we only have Primary key for the Database tables declared in the Data Dictionary.
Unique is generally is the term used with declaring key's for internal tables.
Both primary and Unique keys can identify one record of a table.
