i have iphone 3gs. its home key is not working properly. wht should i do? how it will repair?

If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution of this problem.
Reset, Restore.
If no Warranty, then it will need service. The most common problem with 3GS Home Button is faulty Home Button Flex Cable. The Home button on the 3GS has many areas that could cause poor or absent function. The Home Button Flex cable touch portion could be damaged, or the contact prongs could be broken or damaged. There is a metal plate under the Home Button Flex that must be in place. Home button function has connection at Flex Cable #4 also. Home Button issues can be due to Logic Board problem too.
Before and during any repairs on iPhone 3GS make sure the iPhone is OFF or you risk damaging the LCD Display or Logic Board Display Controllers.

Wireless Keyboard Shortcut for Home Key

I have the wireless keyboard w/o the keypad which I use with my Mini.
On my MBP, the fn-Up Arrow key combination functions as the Home key on keyboards with the built-in keypad. This shortcut doesn't work on the wireless keyboard.
Do I have to define the shortcut in the SysPre/KB Shortcuts? Or is there something I need to turn on? Or...?

How do I access my iPod Touch (5th Generation). Broken Home Key, Locked Screen, No assistive touch currently off and no access to itunes on original PC.

So a friend had damaged her iPod touch by dropping it some time ago. It has been sitting in her drawer ever since (she got a new device). It is now out of warranty and she said I could have it, but only catch is i'd have to fix it some how.
Problems are:
1) iPod is locked - She doesn't know the passcode it was set to.
2) Home key broken - Unable to do a reset as per the many links I see online.
3) Assistive touch is off - Unable to turn this on as the phone is locked and I can't unlock it.
4) We no longer have access to the original PC that it was sync'd with. I've managed to get it linked to my itunes but can't do anything with it do to the fact it won't let me as iPod is locked.
So basically it almost seems there is nothing that can be done but would appreciate your help if possible. Ideally if I can get it unlocked without losing the data so I can keep the music that is on there it would be good. If not then a full reset is fine.
Can this be done? Can we turn on assistive touch without unlocking the phone and no home key? Please help,

Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:

For MAC or PC

and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

How can I prevent a new tab being created every time I hit the Home Key in Firefox 4?

I recently installed Firefox 4. I have it set to open two tabs, Google and Yahoo, for my homepage. When I open a new site in either of them the tab assumes the name of the new site. At the end of my search I hit the Home Key to return to my two original tabs. My two original tabs appear, but so does an additional tab...a duplicate of one of the original two. Each time I hit the Home Key another tab is created. This is annoying and I would like to know how to prevent it from happening. Thanks.

Voice control blue screen appears while I play musice and either stops song, switches to another. Hitting cancel or pressing home key at first worked but now it is not. How to stop this?

Ok. So I can be doing just about anything while my ipod is playing and then this voice control screen appears wih the blue screen. I can shut it down and then turn it on after a while but that may or may not stop the problem. Even if I have it locked this happens.
Even when I hit the home key or slide cancel, this keeps happening. It is very annoying.
How do I stop this?

Have you tried the standard fixes:
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If still a problem you likely have a hardware porblem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IPhone 4 Home key no longer works tried recovery but nothing

Yesterday my iPhone 4 got a bit of condensation from being in an inside jacket pocket while riding my bike in the rain. I also took a fall but don't think the phone took a hit - its in a bumper sleeve as well. Thing works better since I managed to restore from backup but still Home key refuses to work, meaning I can't change the programme without resetting the iPhone. Any ideas?

Wow, hope you are OK. Bunch of problems here. If the condensation got to the Home Button, give it another day or two to hopefully dry out. If something shorted that would be real bad. If the fall jarred the iPhone and disconnected the Home Button Flex cable. Only way to fix that is to open phone and reseat it. Better to let Apple Store fix this for free under warranty. Restore from Backup will not usually fix much. You need to do a true firmware update or restore, this is what I would do next. Update or Restore, if still no function, let it dry for another day, if still no function, time to visit Apple.

Where is The "Home" Key in Logc

I am new and fairly inorant, but very enthusiastic about logic, so please forgive this simpple question. Can some please tell me where is the "Home" key in logic? I would like to go back to 1 1 1 1 at any given time by utilizing this key. I am aware that double cliking on the play button in the trasport window will go back to the last positon that I desinted, but that does not help when I need to go to the ver begining. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try 0 on your extended keyboard.
I forget now if I saved that as a key command or if Logic ships that way.
But I am pretty sure Logic ships with 0 as return to song start. If your song starts at 1 1 1 1 then it will return to 1 1 1 1.

I have an ipad wi-fi cellular 32gb. Died in march after 3 month has been replaced now the replacement has died, holding home key and button on top doesnt work at all, not even if left over night and the next day and night, still nothing.

I was given a ipad after xmas 2012. Within a month it was freezing up and returned to apple to replace. It was sent straight back to me saying it was fine. The day I got it back it was faulty again only this time it was worse, it was switching itself off and turning itself back on when it liked. A back up and restore was completed AGAIN. 3 weeks later it was sent straight back to apple to be replaced, this time a higher authority from apple in brisbane said it was to be replaced immediately. Which it was. Then within 6 weeks this ipad the replacemetn ipad has started having issues by turing itself off. Now it has completely shut itself down and off. Charge was at 81%. I put it on charge as maybe the %% was wrong. A few hours later, tried turning it on by holding top button, nothing happened I have also held down top button and home key for 10 sec, nothing so I tried longer nothing happened. Rang apple support and they have suggested holding top button down for 10 sec then add home key for 10 sec both top button and home for 10 sec then they top button off followed by leaving home key for 10 sec by itself. This did not work. I have tried this again this morning and again at lunch at work and again now tonight. Still nothing at all. Even plugging it into the computer doesn't do anything at all. Has anyone else come across this at all with two ipads doing exactly the same thing. My power points are fine, I've had an electrician check them and my computer is fine aswell. I stumped as to what can be going wrong. Thanks

Since I updated my iPad 2 to OS 8, when I hit the home key, I get a "sign in to iCloud" message. When I enter my password, it doesn't take it but Settings shows I'm signed in to iCloud.....not sure why

Try signing out and signing back into iCloud. This worked for me.

Does the screen come back on if you press the sleep/power button?
Have you tried powering down (hold sleep/power button and swipe red slider) then power back up? Power cycling sometimes will clear problems.
If neither works, and you can get to an Apple store, have the genius bar folks try it out...they are very good about replacement if faulty.

Restore iPhone with current iTunes on computer. See if better. If still problem, make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution. Of if easier for you, take receipt and iPhone, box and everything and return to where you bought it.

I installed the google tool bar for f.fox but don't see a home key

I installed the google tool bar supported by Firefox but I don't see a home key (little house symbol) to return me to the home page.

In Firefox 4 the Home icon was moved the right-side of the Navigation Bar, see the screenshot image below.

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

I would like to page up, page down or use a home key
I am using MS Word, Pages, and PDF, when using these documents I would like the ability to page up or page done or even use "home" key which I can a windows laptop. Id there any way to do that on my macbook? Can I configure my keyboard short cuts to do this?

Send this bug report to Microsoft because they don't exist in any Microsoft products on the Mac that I'm aware of.

Why does Firefox open another Start Page tab everytime I hit the home key (which take me to my homepage on the current tab)?

When I hit the home key Firefox takes me back to my homepage (AOL) but also opens up a new Mozilla Firefox Start Page tab. I end up with a whole bunch of unwanted tabs.

Now, it should say: '''http://aol.com/''' (or similar), but please check if it has anything after that. For example, if there is a '''|''' after it, that tells FF to open up 2 pages when you hit the home button: AOL and the other page, which in this case is a blank page.
If you see a '''|''' in there, go ahead and adjust it or remove it, if you'd like. If not, please report back here and let me know!
