Home location in Reminders

since the Maps app elsewhere but it the US just doesn't work; by that I mean it doesn't find any addresses at all, I figured I had to pinpoint my home location in the map, and add it as is to my own contact as my home address.
By doing this, I wanted the reminders app to KNOW where my home was in order to set geo referenced reminders such as "remind me to call XXX when arriving home".
well, I am just puzzled that it goes all the way to somewhere in Spain where there is a street named PERU, which is my home country. Yes, I have made sure that in my contact, the country name IS actually Peru, as set automatically by the maps app.
Can anyone sort an idea or a solution to this annoying malfunction?

Go to Settings - then Mail, Contacts, Calendar - then scroll down near bottom and find "My Info" and press right > and pick your name within the Contact list ... Verify that the label for your home address
says "Home" not "Work"
If the label is wrong that will also be wrong in Reminders....if so, edit your Contact address and change the label!
Once you complete any editing, select your Contact and it will change "My Info" and your Reminder Home address will be correct.

  • TS4000 How do I change my 'Home' location in Reminders?

It doesn't seem to link to my contact, and it wont let me edit. I did have it set correctly for a while, but it's moved me to somewhere in Wales!
    Thanks

    Thanks iW00.
    I'll try to clarify.
In the recent past, Calendar would calculate the travel time from my current location or not at all.  Recently it changed to calculating it from my "home" address.  Using SHIFT+CMD+M I found "My Card".  It had the address Calendar was using.  I deleted that address and now Calendar either calculates the travel time from my accountant's address or not at all.
I don't want Calendar to calculate the time from "Home."  I have two homes and I'd rather have it calculate the time from my current location, as it did in the past.
    Hence my current questions:
    - How to have Calendar use my current location instead of some apparently random "home" address (like my accountants)?
    - Why does Calendar sometimes calculate travel times and other times not, having entered identical destination addresses?
    - How do I add Favorites to Maps?  (I want to add "NH House" and "MA House".)

  • Siri keeps telling me "your calendar does not support location-based reminders" when I ask her to remind me to feed the cat when I get home. My address is in contacts and it has worked previously. Did iOS 8 change something?

calendar does not support location-based reminders....
i Just found a similar question below and it resolved my issue. Turn off the sync to exchange email and all works fine now.

Couldn't agree more.  I've been *trying* to use location reminders ever since buying my iPhone 4S but as yet, out of many, many attempts they've only actually worked once.
The kid problem is very simple, the way the phone needs the location to be an address in your address book, and it's subsequent inability to correctly locate the address. My home address is a correct postal address, and has been unchanged for 40+ years, yet clicking on my address from my own contact entry puts my location some distance down my street.
Whilst I understand the issue with the address lookup, it seems to be a massive problem with the location based reminders as it's just not possible to set useful reminders.
What if I want to remind myself of something when I arrive at the car park on a shopping trip?  There is no address for that in my contacts, I just want to pinpoint the location on the maps and say 'remind me when I get there'.  Surely that's the simplest my far.  Same with address book contacts, if you had a field with the gps position in then one could tag the locations and know they were 100% accurate for location services.
Such a shame as it's one of the key reasons I upgraded my phone and as it stands it just plain doesn't work.

  • Location based reminders not working in IOS8 on iphone 5s, please help?

Location based reminders are not working when using Siri since upgrading to IOS8. Asking Siri to "remind me when I get home" also turns off reminders in Location Services. Please help

I have the same issue with Siri turning off the location setting for reminders.  In fact my location based reminders do not work at all. IPhone 5s, ios 8.1, upgraded to 8.1.1 and that did not fix these issues.
SEems like Apple does not test the location setting every other upgrade to iOS. They break it, then fix it then break it etc...

  • Location based reminders option not available on iPhone 6plus with iOS 8.1

Location based reminders option  (within Reminders app) is not available. I can open the app and create a reminder based off time, but there is no option present to specify location. I have location services enabled. The Reminders app is not listed in my apps eligible to use Location services, but it's never asked... because it's not an option in the app to select.
    iPhone 6plus with iOS 8.1

Try using Siri to set the reminder, something like "remind me to call mom when I leave home". It should either know or ask what "home" is and that may initiate the location services. I did confirm that location services are available on the latest OS for the iPhone plus (just checked mine).

  • Location based reminders aren't working in iOS7

On iOS6 I routinely set reminders to go off, "when I get home" or "when I leave work".  I simply asked Siri to remind me to do something when I got home and she would.  Not. Any. More.  I doesn't work at all now that I have downloaded iOS7.  She will tell me that she will create the reminder and she does.  I can go into reminders and see that it is all set to go off at the location I have set but it simply doesn't happen.  This is a huge fail as I use this feature all the time to help me be more productive.  HELP!!

In iOS 7 location based Reminders no longer function unless the Reminders app is running in the background.
If I ask Siri to remind me of things when I arrive or leave a location she confirms the request by saying "Here is the reminder for when you get home, should I create it?"  I then confirm and she says ,"I'll remind you". She doesn't mention that Reminders needs to be active in order to remind me.
If this is intended behavior in iOS 7 this is a major step backward in terms of intuitive functionality and ease of use. I mean, I'm asking Siri to remind me of stuff because I'm probably not going to remember to do something. Why should I have to additionally remember to have Reminders running in the background to receive a Reminder notification? Very counter intuitive.
Steps that I have taken to try and resolve issue:
    • Restore as new iPhone and manually install all apps
    • Make sure that Siri is accessing my correct home and office location through my contact information.
    • Made sure Reminder is in my Notification Center and all notifications types are turned on in the Notification Center
    • Make sure the Do Not Disturb feature is not running either manually or scheduled
    • Make sure Siri is on and has "my info" correct
    • Make sure Background App Refresh is on and that it is turned on for Reminders
    • Make sure a sound has been selected for Reminders in the Sounds settings
    • Make sure Location Services are turned on gloabally and that it is turned on for Reminders and Siri specifically.
    • Make sure all System Services are turned on
    • Make sure I have cell signal when I arrive at places I am supposed to be reminded at
    Still doesn't work!!

  • Location based reminders don't work in ios7 ?

after upgrading to ios7 on my iphone 4s the location based reminders don't work if the reminder-app is not open in multitasking.
on ios6 the location based reminders work fine even if the reminders-app is not open and not in background.
is this a bug? the background update option for reminders is activated in the options.
    any ideas?

In iOS7, location-based reminders won't fire if the Reminders app is explicitly terminated by the user.
That is if the user removes an application from the Multi-Tasking application list (brought up with a double-press of the Home button), iOS 7 will conclude that the user doesn't want this app to get any more run-time. That implies that Reminders won't be launched again to display your location-based reminders.
The Reminders app needs to be running in the foreground or to be put in the background for location-based reminders to work.
This is not a bug. This is intended behavior.

  • I can't set location reminders on my iphone, it says "Your calendar service, which keeps track of your reminders, doesn't allow location-based reminders"

"Your calendar service, which keeps track of your reminders, doesn't allow location-based reminders"
How do i fix this? my reminders location is on, but still cant do it....

    Solution.
Since the change from google maps to apple maps. It is now necessary to go to your details in contacts, select your home address, maps appear now select by tapping on a road next to your home, a new pin appears saying dropped pin, click the arrow then add to contacts, add to existing, select yourself, then edit, delete the old home address then change the new one to read home. Do for other stored addresses. Works just fine now with siri

  • IOS 7 Location Based Reminders aren't working

  • Location based reminders don't trigger when screen is locked

I've tried using location based reminders a handful of times since installing iOS 5.  The one thing I've noticed about them (other than the battery drain), is that they don't work when the phone is in standby (i.e. screen is off).   Unlike time based reminders which will sound even when the phone is in standby.  Location based reminders will only remind you after you unlock the screen.
Here's an example based on a reminder I set today:
    1. I set a reminder to remind me to vote when I left my house.
    2. I left my house and drove about a 1/2 mile, all the while looking at my phone to see if the reminder triggered.
    3. Eventually I decided to press the home button and unlock the screen.  The moment I did so the reminder popped up.
Basically if I hadn't "remembered" about the reminder and unlocked the screen, I wouldn't get reminded until the next time I used my iPhone which could have been hours later.  I'd think considering the battery drain and constant use of GPS that it should remind me shortly after leaving my house.
Is this the way reminders are supposed to work?

In iOS7, location-based reminders won't fire if the Reminders app is explicitly terminated by the user.
That is if the user removes an application from the Multi-Tasking application list (brought up with a double-press of the Home button), iOS 7 will conclude that the user doesn't want this app to get any more run-time. • [Microsoft Store][Profile][Billing] How Do I Change Country/Residence for Microsoft Account? Editing Your Microsoft Account Profile for Microsoft Store. SOLVED: Change Home Location

    Hello,
I am experiencing problems with using my Microsoft Account for billing and purchasing apps in Windows store.
I am using my old WLID that I've created several years ago, and I have obsolete information including my country residence there. Now when I go to
    https://billing.microsoft.com, I see that I have 2 profiles:
    Personal profile: US
    Business profile: Russia.
Now the problem is that I want my personal profile be changed to Russia as well. Having US in the profile makes it impossible to make purchases from Microsoft Store because Store does not allow for changing country when making purchases via PayPal.
    Currently I have this information:
I need the Country/Residence information to be changed to Russia. How do I do that?
    I am stuck.
How do I change country for my Microsoft Account?
If it's not possible, would I be able to continue using my Microsoft Account with old residence/country information while making purchases through a new Microsoft account where I have specified my current residence?
Or is it the same as with Windows Phone 7:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2692008
If yes, do I understand that I have to start all my 'virtual living' from scratch to use Microsoft Store? In other words, do I have to sign-in into Windows 8 with a new Microsoft Account that will have Russia specified as a Country/Region to purchase apps
    from Microsoft Store?
If yes, can I use this new account only for purchasing apps while continuing to use my old account or all purchased apps are strictly tied to this new Microsoft Account I will use for purchasing?
    Thank you.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

    Hello,
    Thanks to
this post @ Microsoft Answers, I was able to make Microsoft Store use correct information of my current country residence.
//The drawback in my case was that I lost the possibility to pay with Paypal, although Paypal supports payments in Russia, and, most importantly, I lost access to US marketplace, all comments/reviews are now in Russian. What a bummer! Honestly, I'd
like to have access to US store... Seems like the only workaround it to switch Home location for the time I purchase an app and change back when the app is purchased.
To change the Country/region data used for Payment and Billing in Microsoft Store,
Press WindowsKey+W to show Start screen and focus on searching in
    Settings.
Type 'region' (without quotes) and open Region dialog box when found.
In the Region dialog switch to Location tab and change the country of choice in the
    Home location drop-down list.
Click OK to apply changes and make them effective.
Open Store and press WindowsKey+I to show settings charms then choose
    Your account.
In the Your account screen click Add payment method to configure your payment settings that will be used for purchasing apps from Windows Store.
    Notice Country/region value has changed.
This country will be specified in Country/residence within Payment and Billing in Microsoft Store app.

  • Use UNC path from Active Directory to derive network home location

    Good Morning
I am trying to get my Macbooks to conenct to a Windows Server 2003 home directory. I have followed the steps in the following article with no luck:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=serveradmin/10.4/en/c7od49.html
I can bind to the Microsoft Active Directory with no problems and I can connect to the file share on the server that I want to make the network home location, but I can't get it to work automatically as I would expect it to.
We will have hundreds of users connecting that will need their home folders redirected to the network folder location.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I forgot to mention that before upgrading to 10.8.4 the login item below was present:
    Item: SMB://network path
    Kind: Unknown
    After the upgrade:
    Item: Unknown
    Kind: Unknown
After restart it disappears and never returns (again, this only occurs for admins)

  • Home Location Problem in OVI MAP

    Hi,
I have set the home location to a non-street point near  a road to check if it can route to it.  As this was not a valid street name so I choose my current location from map.
When I ask to go DRIVE HOME, it say no route found. I try to chane the HOME LOCATION, as soon as I click on HOME LOCATION, program crash.
Is there any other way to set HOME LOCATION ?   or  to reset MAPs setting only ?
    Regards,
    Zeeshan.

Well, what you can do is to go to Menu>Applications>Location>Landmarks, delete your Home location, recreate it and redefine.
If it still does not work, delete your the cities folder and qf files in your phone and memory card, then reopen the maps. You may lose all your locations in this way, so I suggest you write down all your favorites. Avoid restoration in this case.
In case the above does not work, delete the cities and qf files again, uninstall maps and reinstall.

  • How do I establish or change my "Home" location in the Mavericks Maps app?

In the Maps app in Mavericks my "Home" location is completely wrong, and there doesn't seem to be a way to change it.
The address itself, as it's expressed in text, is correct. But the location on the map in terms of where the address is located is entirely wrong.
How do I alter the location of "Home" in the Maps app to establish the correct location.
I have sumitted an error report to Apple to identify the problem. But this seems to be a futile effort, since I did the same thing when the Maps app was released for iPhone over a year ago and there's been no adjustment made.
So I'm looking for a way to manually correct my "Home" location on the map. Anyone know how to do this?

I have the same or similar wierd problem. For some reason, maps (and calendar when calculating travel time) believe I live some 80 km south of what I do. In another town, a street that doesn't have a similar name to mine. The address in contacts is correct. When I search for that address in maps it shows the correct address. If I type "home" in maps' search field it shows 2 homes, the wrong one and the good one (with the adress wrote). I have no idea how the wrong home got in there and how to get rid of it...
Calendar always uses of course the wrong home to calculate travel times...
