Home Network Settings on N80

I have been trying to set up the home network settings in order for me to access my files on my home computer. I have a WLAN and i am able to browse the web from my phone on it. I have enabled UpnP on my wirless router.
When i try to set it up on the phone i get the message telling me to congifure an access point. I have done this. When i try to turn sharing on I am not allowed to change any of the settings. Has anyone had any success with this and what am i doing wrong?

What is the home media server? Is it available for download?

am I able to assign different lists of favourites to different Locations in Mac OSX 10.6? (ie, my work favs when work network settings applied and home favs appear when home network settings applied?

The local firewall is off out of the box.
The log on the Netscreen shows nothing out of the ordinary. Shows the connections being established then closed.
Support for the firewall is long gone.
I can try calling Apple but I do not look forward to that call just to be told the firewall is at fault and there is nothing they can do about it.

  • IPad loses home network settings from time to time

IPad 2 loses home wireless Internet from time even though settings still indicate connected...I just click forget this network and sign in with pass word and it connects ok.  Is there a setting to keep IPad from disconnecting from home network while I am in the house?

    Try #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Does the iOS devices see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Since both iPhone and iPod stopped connecting I suspect a problem with your network.

my iphone will no longer connect to my home wifi. it recognises it, but the searching cirlce is constant next to network name. there are three laptops and another iphone on the same wifi that have no connectivity issues. i have reset the network settings but that did not help. the issue started last week when the second iphone was introduced to the house, could this be the cause?

    No.
Any problem connecting your iPhone to any other wi-fi network besides your own?

  • I cannot connect my iPhone 4S to my home wifi. When trying to connect it says I have the wrong password, but I can connect my MacBook to the same network with the same password. I have tried to restart my router, reset my network settings, fail!

Hello, I am having some major troubles connecting my iPhone 4S to my home wifi. When I try to connect on my phone, it says I have an incorrect password. That's not possible because I can connect my MacBook to the same network with the same password. I have reset my network settings on my phone, reset my router, called apple support, triple checked I was trying it in correctly, I have no clue what's going on.
The only thing different is I just moved, but I have the same router/phone/internet provider.
I've seen some discussions of router security options being the problem, I have my router connected to : WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES].
    The other options are: WEP , WPA-PSK[TKIP] , WPA2-PSK [AES] , WPA/WPA2 Enterprise.
My troubleshooting and understanding of all this is pretty limited, my applecare service did not help, please can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

If the issue happened after an update, you may want to go into an Apple Store. Be sure to let them know exactly what's wrong with the device.

  • N80 home network and WWW

I have recently purchased an n80 and I am trying to get the home networking and internet functional through my wirless router. So far I have had little success. I have enabled upnp on my d-link router/modem . I have installed The simple center software on my laptop and uploaded files to share. I have setup an access point on my n80 and I have enabled sharing. The shared folders on the n80 have also been selected to share all files. The simple center software has been allowed to operate through xp's firewall. THe only thing I am not sure about is the port forwarding on the router. I have a trigger port and a public port in the applications gateway section of my router . I have entered the ports listed in the simple centers setting section (1900,49153,49154,49152). I have these numbers in both the trigger port and the public port on the TCP protocol.
Occasionally I can connet to the internet. However when I close the connection down and try to start it up again sometimes it does not work , showing 'unable to perform operation'. The only way to re-establish the connection is to power the router down then backup(reset).
The same goes for the home networking. I had no success a all on the first day of trying. Went to work. When I came back tried it again and it worked perfectlly ?? Now on the third day it is working ocassionally.
Anyone else had simmilar problems ? If so any soultions would be appreciated ! The phone itself seems to be pretty glitcy. And battery life isnt the best either. Apart from that eh !

Forget that - just sussed it out...
    I'm using v3.0617.0.6 (03-05-2006) RM-92, Nokia N80 (31.01)
I can't seem to get anything using the browser - I constantly get "Out of memory" errors, even when trying to use GPRS.
It moans something about "packet data" and then bombs out...

  • I have tried everything possible. tried resetting my network settings and even the whole phone but my phone wouldn't connect to my wifi at home but will connect to other wifi's when i'm out. my sisters both have the same iphone and theirs work perfectly.

My iPhone wouldn't connect to my wifi at home but connects to others when i go out. i have tried resetting my whole phone and network settings but still wouldn't work. Everyone in my house has an iPhone and theirs work perfectly. I need help. it randomly started working yesterday after not connecting for 4 days and suddenly it stopped working again today

The two things to try first are renewing your network lease, forgetting the network and if that doesn't work to reset all networks. You might have tried one of these but I'll repeat the steps just to make sure.
Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the blue arrow to the right of your network name > Renew Lease
    If that doesn't work then
Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the blue arrow to the right of your network name > Forget this Network
    If that doesn't work
Settings > General > Networks > Reset All Networks > then reset your iPhone by
Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
I hope one of these will help.

  • TS1398 Currently unable to join home network in various spots that our second iPad mini can connect in.  Same iPad OS system and settings.  Why?

I am having issues with connecting to wifi networks at home and in public with my wifi enabled iPad mini.  My wife and I have the same models and settings, and she can access the networks right next to me that I can't.  I have tried all wifi trouble shooting suggestions from Apple manual and none work at solving problem.
    Any other ideas are welcome.

I purchase the iPad Mini WiFi the first day it was available in Fort Worth, Tx at the Apple Store.  I connected to my home network easily and used it around town and on a trip to Arkansas over the Thanksgiving Holiday without any problems.  When I returned home and connected to my home network it immediately asked to update.  Ever since then connecting to any network with a secured WiFi has been a problem.  At first it wouldn't connect to any WiFi except my iPhone 4s Hotspot and the Apple Store WiFi.  At the Apple Store, it connect to their WiFi and so they told me the issue was my home network.  After an additional update from Apple it did start connecting to my home network if I stood directly next to the router (inches not feet).  Right now the WiFi is almost useless and works in very few locations despite my ability to log onto networks with my iPhone 4S.

  • IPhone 5s stopped connecting to home wifi. Circle just spins in settings. Already tried to reset network settings. Other apple devices are connecting just fine.

I reset network settings. All other apple devices in home connect as intended. Circle in settings just keeps spinning next to connection but won't connect.

I have the same problem. I connect my iPhone 5 to my home wifi (airport express) and to a MiFi Jetpack at work everyday. After about 2 days the phone will no longer connect. I just get a spinning circle next to the wifi name. The same thing will happen at home and at work at the same time. I'll reset my network settings on my phone then I can connect to both wifi spots. After another couple of days the process repeats. Obviously it is not the airport express or Jetpack since it only affects my iphone and not anyone elses and the reset on the phone fixes it.

  • We are a two iPhone family, both on the same service provider. My wires iPhone is unable to connect to the home network where as mine is! In the settings her phone has no details for the IP address etc where as mine does! I cannot even enter the details.

I have done resets on off and nothing? HELP!

What is that and how. I have 3 airports all configured identically and connected to one router via ethernet!
