Home page keeps changing

Ive had yahoo as my home page for years and over the last two weeks every time I open Fire fox my home page is amazon. When I change it back to yahoo it just goes back to amazon. I ran virus protection and ad ware. I have reset Firefox many times I dont know what else do

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • New update of Firefox, now my home page keeps changing with each new session. What's the fix?

After Firefox performed an automatic upgrade, my home page and "Restore to Default" setting changed. I can input the correct URL and save and that works fine during that session. But when the browser is closed and brought back up again, it reverts to this different home page (my companies intranet page). I've tried changing the "home page default" setting in the browserconfig.properties file and did a find and replace of the wrong URL in the "pref.js" files. But it keeps going back to the wrong address each time a new browser session is started. This all happened after an automatic upgrade was done to bring Firefox to version 3.6.8.
This has happened on both of my work computers that run Windows XP - SP 3, IE 7.0.573 and Symantec Antivirus. So I'd think the chances of both computers being hit by the exact some problem, at the exact same time, changing the home page to the exact same URL and neither of the computers' antivirus protection catching it are rather slim. But I suppose that's a possibility. However, since this happened immediately following the browser upgrade, I have to think that this new installation has something to do with it.
    Any suggestions?

Did you look for a '''user.js''' file in your Profile folder?
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/User.js_file
Prefs in that file will override the same pref in the prefs.js file on each Firefox startup.
Have you contacted your IT department about that issue?
Maybe they are overriding your homepage setting?

  • My home page keep changing to go.webalta.ru

I have set my home page to eurosport, but every time I open the FireFox, it opens go.webalta.ru.
I have already tried to restart the FF using "Troubleshooting" option.
I have scanned and deleted what was found. But some of them coming back.

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar and search for prefs that refer to <b>webalta.ru</b>.
You can reset user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.
You can check if you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

  • My safari home page keeps changing

    Hi,
recently I think I have a spyware problem on my macbook pro.  Every time I open Safari it changes my homepage to 'my-search' and then I also keep getting mac cleaner popping up.  I don't have mac cleaner on my mac (I have looked in the applications) and I have also disabled extensions (there were no extensions on safari either).  Lot so people keep saying reset safari but I can't see how you do that.  It is certainly not on the safari menu.
Please can someone help me before I throw it out the window

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for a file with a name of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
Here something is a variable word, which can be different in each case. It could be "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," "trusteddownloads," or pretty much anything else.
There may also be a file named
               com.something.helper.plist
    in the same folder.
If you find files with names that fit the above description, post what you have for "something."

  • The format, or view of my home page keeps changing. I don't want it to. Is it Mozilla, or Yahoo I need to take to? Do you have a fix?

This morning, I started my computer, and opened Yahoo. I use Mozilla Firefox. The page that opened, looked like I am used to. But upon signing in, it changed. I have had 3, or 4 different looks so far today. I had a similar issue a month, or so ago. Then, I added one letter to the address, and it fixed the issue. Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly what that was. I haven't been able to find the information online to enable this fix.
Maybe, the people who read this are very computer savvy. I am not. To each his own gifts. In my case, change is not so good. In fact, some changes leave me without internet access. Because, I don't understand the changes!
There is a saying, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it!" I enjoyed the existing format. I knew how to do the things, I needed to do online. More often than not, changes make more work, and often make no sense to the average user. If I can't use the browser, it is of no use to me.
The look of Yahoo when I sign on, is what I am looking for. I assume, it works as before. Maybe, I need to contact Yahoo. Maybe, Mozilla, maybe, they are one, and the same. Please help!

Did he have find my iPhone enabled under that iCloud account?  If so, add the account back to his phone.  Then in the iCloud account settings, disable find my iPhone first (you will be prompted for your password), then remove the account.
Now you can create or add a new iCloud account to it using his own AppleID.
Alternatively, you could log in to your www.icloud.com account in a web browser.  Using the find my iPhone app there, remove his iPhone from your list of associated devices (he will have to power his iPhone off for you to do that).
After his iPhone is set up for his own iCloud account, on your iPhone, go to
settings->iCoud->Storage & Backup->Manage Storage and delete his iPhone's backup file to make more room on your own iCloud storage account.

  • Why does my home page keep changing?

    Hi Guys and Guyesses,
Two days ago I dismantled my BT Broadband set-up and replaced it with one of the new, sexy looking black ones as seen on all the latest TV adverts. Everything seemed to go well and a desktop computer running Windows XP connected via an ethernet cable straight away and has caused no problems at all. Not quite so good when trying to connect a Mac desktop wirelessly. It is a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard and ran without any problems under the old BT Broadband router.
What happens now is that my browser totally ignores my home router and tries to connect me to a BTFON contraption. I then have to click on the proper wireless network and it all goes well from then on after a bit of a kerfuffle.
The question is, how do I stop my browser, (Firefox), from going to the BTFON in the first place?
    Cheers,
    Steve

    Go to Solution.

You need to go go into your MACs wireless settings, and delete the BT FON wireless connection, as its taking priority over your normal home hub connection.

  • Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages?  I just want to type a letter and add pictures and titles, and Pages keeps changing font sizes and doesn't let me "Do it my way".  I HATE this!

Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages?  I'm using a blank document, so I figured I could write my letter and add pictures any way I wanted to.  But NO!  Pages keeps changing the font size!  I typed a large heading as a title, and when I try to change to a smaller font for the body of the letter, it changes the size back to the larger size!  I am getting SO FRUSTRATED!  I've spent over an hour trying to get the stupid program to let me just type my letter!  Can anyone help?

The only one left is the "unsubmitted text" dialogue, which would not be a problem if I were not a Facebook user; after updating the "Richard is..." field (which does not require a manual submit to actually send) I get the above message. This is obviously Safari just not realising that the info has been sent and is therefore (I imagine) one for Apple themselves to answer!!
You're welcome Rich. Glad to help.
Not being a Facebook User, I'm not sure how to respond to the error situation. However, this would be something to report to Apple as a bug via the Safari Menu. First, open to the page in question, then select "Report Bugs to Apple".

  • How Can I get rid of Yahoo home page? Changing home page doesn't work.

A week or two ago, Yahoo started coming up as my home page. No matter how many times I change it back to Bing, every time I bring up Firefox, there is Yahoo as the home page. Changing it back to Bing and clicking ok is not working. I'm getting a little frustrated with this. How do I get rid of Yahoo coming up as my home page when I did not even ask for it?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
    Sincerely,
    cbrsarah

  • Home page keeps reverting ...

In the site I am working on the home page keeps reverting back to an older version when I close and open iweb. I have built this page 3 times now and would really appreciate any help I can get with this. The thumbnail for the domain file shows the new page but it is not there when I open iweb.
I have even published the new page to a folder and it is fine and works OK - when I close and re open iweb however it is gone and a much older version of that page in its place.
HELP - what is going on? I would really appreciate any help I can get with this ...

    Try the following:
    1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and see if there's any improvement.

Home page reset not working. I follow directions and say Yes
to question re New home page, but system keeps defaulting to existing home page.

What '''''is''''' the web page that has taken over the homepage feature?

  • How do you keep the settings on the home page from changing?

On my firefox home page it was set to no graphics, now it's changed to a simulation of the game space invaders.
This is the same type of thing that Yahoo, aol, google ALL do. I was under the impression you DO NOT do this type of stuff. I guess I was wrong!

To narrow the search for the problem -
Try opening Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift Key as click on the Firefox icon,
and try re-setting your Home page via Options>General>When Firefox starts Show a blank page.
Does the problem persist in either of these two cases?
Do you have any extensions or third-party toolbars.?
Have you tried a malware scan?

  • I can't restore a previous session (it instead recovers the session before) of my Tabs and my home page keeps being reset to firefox

    Hi,
Over the last few days (since i updated to the newest version of firefox) i've been having problems. I usually keep open quite a few tabs that are invaluable to me that I need, they contain vital information i've been needing for research and I can't afford to keep losing them!. I'm used to exiting firefox when i turn off my computer and them saving for my next session when I open firefox back up. For some reason now, if i turn off my computer, when i turn on again and go into firefox to restore my previous session. it will restore the session prior to my previous session but not my previous session.
My default setting was to resume the Firefox session from where it was when I last exited Firefox that I set. The settings are all the same as they was before I updated firefox and I had this problem, so it is set to remember my history. I'm really not that tech savvy so i really don't know if it was teh update that caused it but it seems around the same time. Also, every single time. it sets my home page to firefox (it is usually google)) it will only remain google if i change it back and remain for the day until i restart my computer.
I'd be most grateful to any hint that might solve this problem. Thank you for your attention. I really appreciate the input! thanks everyone in advance!

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

  • Backgrounds on several pages keep changing in a different order every time the site is published.

Hello Adobe Team, i'd like to know how can i fix this situation: I just added a couple of things (only text) more to my website, after i downloaded the update, and now everytime l upload it back to my host, some of the several pages it has changes the backgrounds (pictures) with other backgrounds, and its always in different ways, i've tried several times and im not sure what could the problem be, im using muse as i used to do it before the update and now the website is a mess, keeps changing things that on the preview mode were ok.
    Thank you very much
    Octavio

Ok, if anybody is experiencing this problem, try to relink every picture, delete the "image" folder, and delete the images you had on the new "images" folder, make the adjustments you needed, save the site, then export it to HTML (this way all of the documentation on your site will be overwriten with the new adjustments you've made and previous data will not interfer with the new one), then upload it with your FTP, clean your browser cache, and enter to your site. This worked for me and now my website is running fine.
