Home page multiple tabs

Is there anyway to load multiple tabs as the home page when opening Safari.

What a bummer. There is nothing like hitting the browser startup button in the morning and having all the pages one expects to work on immediately displayed in tabs. I guess I will just have to keep Firefox as my main browser and continue to have Safari regulated to the background. Thanks for the info. I was hoping to be able to have one browser with work page tabs on it and a second browser with reference page tabs on it. But I will just keep dreaming. Maybe Apple will incorporate this capability someday. They finally incorporated multiple speaker capability into iTunes, a capability I had asked Apple technical support for a couple of years ago, so there is hope.

  • Set IE Home Page - Multiple Tabs

    I know how to set the default home page for IE using GPs.  Is there a way to add a default webpage to existing user defaults?  For example, if a user had yahoo.com set as their default webpage, is it possible to add another default webpage that
    opens in an additional tab using GPs?  We'd like to set our company internal Sharepoint site as a default homepage, but not remove or alter users existing default pages as well.
    Thanks!

    Basically, we ILT-query for a registry value (type REG_MULTI_SZ, of
    course). If it is does not contain our new page, we feed its current
    content into %myVariable%. Then we feed MyNewHomepage+%myVariable% back
    into our value.
    So I'm using this solution to accomplish the adding of a second tab without overwriting the users homepage or secondary homepage, and it works, but only so long as they don't have more than 2 homepages specified. The variable only ever returns the first
    entry, never the entirty of the registry value. So if they have:
    http://test1.test.com - Homepage
    http://test2.test.com - secondary tab
    http://test3.test.com - thirdly(?) tab
    when the myvariable is passed back, I only ever get
    http://test2.test.com + the new page I was trying to add. Is this a bug, or does a MULTI_SZ entry, when converted to a variable, only return the first item?

  • Mozilla-firefox start home pages on tabs

    this isn't really a problem.
    i heard someone open up more than one home page on multiple tabs while starting mozilla-firefox.
    just wanting to find how this is done?
    thx
    slyski

    http://archlinux.org|http://slashdot.org|http://thinkgeek.com
    that's right. just put a pipe between each url. it'll open each in a different tab.
    here's a tip: make the first tab point to about:blank, to have all your fav sites open in the background in case you want to go somewhere else right when you open the browser.

  • Browser opens to properly set home page. Tabs open to a different home page. what is the fix to get tabs to open to the home page I want.

    I have firefox 24.0 in xp . for some time i have been using firefox with no problems. and i think i recently update to the current version. went my problem started I think was when I tried to download a video downloader. my home page was changed even tho I did a custom install. May home page was switched. after much trial and error I managed to get the home page I wanted when the browser first opens. but when I hit the tab button some home page opens that I dont recognise. and it does that for each addition tab that I open. it does this only when I open a tab. I have read several of the related questions here but there a waste of time because I am not a techie.
    looked at the about:config thing but finding the right thing to even begin to look at was impossible. I dont recognise any of the thing in there and I dint understand how to search for the thing it said search for. this is the instructions I tried to follow:
    Chosen solution
    You can modify the browser.newtab.url pref and change the value to http://foxnews.com
    Also make sure that the new tab page is enabled, the browser.newtabpage.enabled should be true.
    Type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key to open the about:config page, just like you open a website by typing the URL in the location bar.
    If you see a warning message then you can confirm that you want to access the about:config page.
    use the Search bar at the top of the about:config page to locate preferences more easily
    preferences that have been modified and do not have the default value show as bold (user set)
    preferences that are user set (bold) can be reset to the default value via the right-click context menu
    preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean) or by double-clicking the line with the pref
    preferences can be created via the right-click context menu: New -> String, Integer, Boolean
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config.
    what preference am I searching for? I tried searching for browser.newtab.url and came up blank. search for just browser came of with too many for me to make judgment on.
    This was very confusing and i could not figure it out until the asker came back and said it worked and something else that I cant find now. i think the answers should be dumbed down to where non-techies can understand. my problem is solved

    You can change this if you don't mind peeking under the covers into Firefox's about:config preferences editor.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:
    (i) Page thumbnails (default)
    browser.newtab.url = about:newtab
    (ii) Blank tab
    browser.newtab.url = about:blank
    (iii) Built-in Firefox home page
    browser.newtab.url = about:home
    (iv) Any other page
    browser.newtab.url = full URL to the page
    Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?

  • Adobe CQ5 - Home page - Users Tab is not opening

    Hi,
    we are facing an issue in Adobe CQ5. we are not able to open the Users Tab in the home page http://localhost:1111/libs/cq/core/content/welcome.html. when we are clicking the Users tab, it is showing a Empty page. We want to open the Users tab from there.
    Could you please tell me how can we resolve this?
    Regards,

    Raja,
       Please show us the logs of CQ5, that you'll find in the crx-quickstart/logs folder. I believe that the ones that store logs for this kind of error is the error.log, the request.log and the stderr.log.

  • How do I set a defaut page for New Tabs? (make it same as my Home page, first tab)

    Each new tab creates a blank "untitled" tab. I want my new tabs to open with my Home page default. I thought earlier versions of FF let me do this.
    99% of the time I need a new tab, it is for a new search, so just want my iGoogle Home page to show up.

    You can do that by using an add-on such as:
    * NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
    * New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/

  • How do you set a default home page for tabs

    Default home page setting is easy enough but when clicking the "+" to open a tab I want to set the page that it defauts to. You would think that it would do the default home page but it doesn't and I cant find where to set it.

    Troubleshooting tips on the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference:
    ''If Firefox won't let you edit this setting:'' you may have something called SearchProtect on your system. This needs to be removed from the Windows Control Panel.
    ''If Firefox lets you save your change but ignores it:'' one of your extensions may be overriding it. You can review, disable, and/or remove extensions on the add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right and disable (or remove) anything unknown.
    ''If the change works during your session, but at the next startup is back to the unwanted page:'' you might have a user.js file in your personal Firefox settings folder (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and remove the file: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]]. Also beware of features in utility programs like Advanced SystemCare that roll back settings changes between sessions.
    If bad add-ons do not have a Remove button or keep coming back, here's my suggested procedure for tracking down and cleaning them up. I know this seems long, but it's not that bad.
    (1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
    (2) Open Firefox's '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    * in the Windows "Run" dialog, type or paste <br><code>firefox.exe "about:addons"</code>
    In the left column, click '''Plugins'''. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
    In the left column, click '''Extensions'''. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
    Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
    (3) You can search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.
    Success?

  • Yahoo home page issues, tabs redirecting without previewing

    Hi all,
    I have a MacBook Pro running Leopard Mac OS X 10.5.7 and about a week ago, the Yahoo Home Page started acting strangely. The main tabs labeled "Featured, Entertainment, Sports, Life" started redirecting me to the intended page as soon as I clicked them, instead of giving me a thumbnail preview underneath like they used to. And the thumbnails did the same thing, instead of giving me a preview on the main pane when I click on them, they redirected immediately to the intended page too. And finally, the tabs on the right labeled "Mail, Messenger, Options, Weather, Events, Horoscope are doing the same thing. Before when I would hover my mouse cursor arrow over those tabs, I would get a dropdown preview, now they redirect right to the target page. All of this stuff is actually happening with both my browsers, FireFox 3.0.11 and Safari 4. Any ideas?
    (Update: updating to 3.5 did the trick for FireFox, but 4.02 hasn't helped for Safari)

    HI,
    *"The main tabs labeled "Featured, Entertainment, Sports, Life" started redirecting me to the intended page as soon as I clicked them,*"
    Try Open DNS Just click the computer icon and follow the instructions.

  • Can I make my "home page" several tabs?

    It would totally rock if whenever I opened safari a few sites opened in different tabs. You must understand - I'm a very busy guy and don't have time to go through menus and choose "Open in tabs."
    Perhaps there's a way to do this with AppleScript or Automator? BTW - are those the same thing?
    Thank you.

    I'm not on my Mac right now so I can't give you a step-by-step, but if you do have OS 10.4 you can use Automator. Open Automator and explore the options for Safari. You can write a workflow that should get pages in Safari for you. Not sure right now if you can work with Tabs. I'm sure someone on here can let you know, but if not I'll check when I get home.

  • I have my Firefox set to restore my previous session, but when I go to restart my browser, I am always at my home page, no tabs to be seen. How can I fix this?

    I have no extra details, Its just something that has recently stopped happening to me since the last update to this version of FF

    Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Browsing History" if Firefox is closed.

  • When I set up multiple home pages, I get two NEW pages when I click "home"

    Firefox 19.0.2 on XP
    I have always had firefox set up to open two page, so my home page setting reads
    https://www.google.com|https://www.google.com
    When I open Firefox, I get two tabs, both on Google. If I opened a 3rd tab I got a blank page. Just what I wanted.
    Now, suddenly - when I open Firefox, I get my two home pages, but if I'm in Page 0 and click HOME, I get TWO MORE tabs open to my home page (for a total of 4 pages).
    I read online to replace the pipe with %7C but that causes a -27 Service error.
    Something changed inside FF in the latest updates ... how do I get the expected behavior back?

    I have had the same original problem here as dbdataplus12 for a while now concerning having multiple tabs set as home page.
    For my use, I have 4 tabs set up as home pages - each tab being set to a different web address, as I always use all 4 websites whenever I start any browsing sessions.
    I had given up hope of trying to find an answer to resolve it or at least find out why it happens.
    If it's just because it's the way FF works then so be it, and I'm stuck with FF doing something that, as far as I'm concerned, it shouldn't really be doing that way - but I'll have to put up with it anyway ;)
    But having come across these replies to dbdataplus12 query it's prompted me to have to post here.
    I can see why dbdataplus12 basically gave up on trying to get a clear answer to his query. "That said, I'm bored with this entire conversation - and now I will do what true Americans now do in cases like this - I will lower my expectations. "
    So maybe I can explain better what I see as my problem with multiple home pages, what is happening within FF and why I think that it shouldn't be doing things that way, and what I think FF should be doing instead.
    If it turns out that I'm just expecting too much from FF or the people who program FF, or maybe my expectations are too high to have something so obvious be able to be done - that just doesn't happen in FF, or maybe just plain wrong of me to expect certain things from a tool such as FF - then so be it ;)
    As dbdataplus12 said " ... if I set up my home page option with TWO home pages (google | yahoo) then when I open FF I get two tabs with their respective pages loaded."
    When I startup FF I get my 4 tabs opened to their respective web addresses. So far so good :)
    I then use those 4 tabs during my session, and again so far so good ;)
    The problem then happens when I wish to go to my home pages again.
    On clicking the Home button, a new set of 4 tabs open up, each going to their respective web address as they are supposed to.
    Why aren't the original, existing tabs used to go to the home pages?
    I would have thought that it was obvious that when I click on the Home page button that the 4 tabs that are open go to the home pages.
    If I had closed one or more tabs then I would expect FF to open new tabs as required, and use those tabs to go to the relevant home pages.
    If I had opened new tabs myself during my session to visit other web addresses, I would expect that the first tabs be used to go to the Home pages - any other tabs that may be open would stay on their relevant pages.
    That's what I would expect to happen.
    Not for FF to just open up 4 new tabs.
    As I say, to me, it's just plain obvious.
    The first tabs onscreen should be used to open up any Home pages set up, so that whenever the Home page button is pressed those tabs are used.
    And for FF to open up additional tabs, if tabs had been closed and are needed to enable all the home pages to be shown.
    As I say, to me, it's just plain obvious.
    So, if it's just that FF doesn't work that way - then so be it. I'll accept that as the answer and have to put up with new tabs opening every time I press Home ;)
    But maybe someone, somewhere, could think about altering FF so that it uses existing tabs etc instead of just opening new ones. Maybe you could have a setting in the preferences to switch the option on or off to reuse tabs whenever the Home button is pressed.
    Just a really, obvious idea ;)
    Thanks for reading - and hopefully replying.
    And hopefully taking the idea onboard ;)

  • Problem defining a report to show in Reports tab of plug-in home page

    We are developing a plug-in for OEM and we want to add some SYSTEM reports that will be showing in Reports tab of plug-in home page.
    We tried to use the PL/SQL code described in Extensibility Guide, copied the code used in some existing plug-in that we downloaded from Oracle site, but it does not work. Have you tried running your sql file in sql plus? Does that work? If it does execute, does the report show on the main tab but not on the target homepage or does it show in neither spot? Try hitting the refresh icon in the page to reset the cache on the Reports tab.
    When you deploy the plug-in with the report file in it, did you see any errors or messages in the oms logs?
    1. We do: run the PL/SQL script I posted from sqlPlus. As far as I understand it should add a report?
    2. We tried all the ways of defining a report. We successfully create the report interactively with SQLs we defined. We tried to put the PL/SQL code inside the jar and deploy, to run the PL/SQL script in SQL Plus, neither report is showed in Reports list nor Reports tab is showing at all. We tried to restart OEM and computer after adding a report, it does not help...
    Regarding the oms logs - where can we see that?

  • Firefox 3.6.13 - Why, when I use the dropdown File menu to open a new window, does FF open my Home Page tabs? All I want is a blank page.

    I have four tabs in my home page:
    2 - https://mail.google.com/mail/;
    1 - http://us.mg5.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch;
    1 - http://www.facebook.com/login.php
    When I use the "File" drop-down menu I want only a blank page, but I get the four tabs. How go I get other New Windows to open as blank pages?

    A new window open by default with the Home page(s), tabs open a blank page.
    The only ways to avoid opening a new window with the home page is either to set the home page to about:blank (ie disabling the home page) or use a bookmark with the location set to about:blank and use Shift + left-click to open that link in a new window.

    The new Firefox Start Page - '''about:home''' - isn't the same homepage that was used in earlier versions of Firefox - http://www.google.com/firefox There is no "setting" for the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" - in the Options UI or in about:config .
    Set that old "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" as your "homepage". <br />
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
    Or open your Profile folder and delete the '''webappsstore.sqlite''' file and hope the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" returns to Google. When it '''''is''''' Google, the Google logo appears to the left of the "Search Container"; when the search engine there has been changed to something else, there is no logo to the left of the "Search Container" - AFAIK.
