Home page saving

I recently downloaded from jzip. com to enable me to view rar files.Since the download my hompage has changed to http://search.jzip.com/ and I am unable to change my home page at all. I have disabled my AVG addons and AVG completely, changed my home page but when I close Firefox and bring it back again my home page has reverted to the jzip again. This is not happening on explorer, that I changed back and it has stayed fine.

jZip has hijacked your home page setting. You will need to completely uninstall it if you want to be able to change your home page. Follow these steps: <BR><BR>
# Open '''Control Panel''' > '''Add or Remove Programs'''
# Locate the entry for jZip and uninstall it.
# Also locate any entries with names '''Windows jZip''' or '''Windows jZip Toolbar''' and uninstall all of them.
# Open Windows Explorer and go to '''C:\Program Files\''' folder.
# Delete any folders with the name ''jZip'' or ''Windows jZip'' or ''Windows jZip Toolbar''.
# Open Firefox.
# Go to '''Tools''' > '''Add-ons''' menu
# Select the '''Extensions''' tab
# If you see an entry for ''jZip Toolbar'', uninstall it.
# Type '''about:config''' in the address bar and press '''Enter'''.
# Accept the warning
# In the '''Filter''' text box, type ''jzip''
# You will be presented with a list of entries containing jzip.
# On each entry, right click and select '''Reset'''.
# Restart Firefox.

  • My Mac Book Pro changes the saved home page each time I start Safari.  I also get new tabs that randomly open asking to clean up my Apple

My Mac Book Pro changes the saved home page each time I open Safari.  I am also getting random tabs opening with various "cleaning up" my computer junk.
How do I get rid of this?  I tried some of the fixes listed but they don't seem to work or I am doing something wrong.
    THanks
    Wendi

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Firefox will not open saved desktop bookmarks, it always defaults to home page, why is that?

I like to launch Firefox by clicking on desktop shortcuts I have saved (bank, Netflix, Gmail, Amazon, Yahoo, eBay, etc...). With Firefox 29 any desktop shortcut now opens to my home page, Google. If I choose open to a blank page in the options, then all of my shortcuts open to a blank page.
In Firefox 28 all of desktop shortcuts worked just fine. I like being able to start Firefox on a specific page. Now it looks like I can only open to my home page or a blank page. This is terrible!!! I have tried creating new desktop shortcuts from Firefox 29 and I get this same results. Really terrible.
I can deal with the interface (which I really do not like now) but this simple lose of how I like to start Firefox is going to drive me away. Please fix or explain to me how I can launch Firefox from a shortcut and have it open that web page. Many thanks!

Sorry didn't work. I am using MacOS 10.6. New shortcuts created in FF29 have the same problem. If FF29 is not open, clicking on the shortcut opens FF to my default home page, never to the shortcut URL I clicked. For example, clicking an Amazon.com shortcut I just dragged to the desktop, then quitting FF29 and clicking the shortcut launches FF29 to my Google home page. If I change my default browser to Safari all of my desktop shortcuts open Safari to the right page. Chrome had the same problem but I couldn't stand Chrome so I don't care. This is definitely a FF29 problem.
I am really attached to FF in general and this is not a deal breaker, just a huge annoyance. Again, thanks for any help.

  • When Firefox is closed, all previous search page and home page settings are not saved. Must reset firefox and reset homepage url everytime.

All previous search engines on "Manage Search Engines" are gone and cant access the "get more search engines"...all grayed out.

Session Manager and Save session are the ad-ons which can solve your problem of saving previous search pages and url.
To set up home page and its related error You have to read this :

  • Safari always opens with "Welcome to Safari" screen. Home page not saved.

After a clean reinstall of Yosemite on our mid-2010 iMac and an upgrade to Safari 8.0.2, my partner is greeted with the "Welcome To Safari" screen each time he launches Safari.
In addition, his home page is not saved and the Favorites bar, which is set to be displayed by default, does not show.
My own Safari experience is unaffected.
Has anybody else experienced this and any suggestions on how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Firefox 6.0.1 update won't recognize the home page which uses a password access which has been saved into 6.0.1.

    Question
Firefox 6.0.1 update won't recognize the home page which uses a password access which has been saved into 6.0.1. The security shows permissions for the web site but doesn't recognize that I've been accessing the web page every day since I updated to 6.0.1. Web page trying to access is <http://classic.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=zmw:98108.5.99999> This home page worked fine on earlier versions of Firefox and continues with Internet Explorer 9.0.

Looks like its been fixed for me, not by 6.0.1 but by - Todd Siechen from http://www.dvdthemepak.com

    Todd... I love you xxx
After having a nightmare since first day of version 6.0.0 and still no fix after 6.0.1, even after Apple requested the files... You fixed my problem... Checked for duplicate fonts and found about 5, selected "Resolve Duplicates" and everything great, even with old projects... You should work for Apple!

    1) The first and biggest culprit we found to be causing problems is with font issues. In order to alleviate this problem, open Font Book and make sure all the Fonts that are turned on have no dots next to them. If they do then select them and select "Resolve Duplicates" from the Edit menu. If you are using a different font manager then use whatever tool is available to make sure no duplicate fonts are loaded. iDVD 6 is very sensitive to this.
Many many many many many many many many many many many many many thanks.

  • I have saved a web page as my HOME page but another one keeps loading when I try to go online.

I saved a home page to load when I go online. Another web page keeps loading in its place. How can I get MY home page to load instead of this other one?

Thank you for your response. The webpage that keeps coming up is something called imesh. I have read the article and tried changing it again but it keeps coming back to imesh.com. I have changed the default home webpage in other parts of the computer and with the options menu but imesh keeps overriding it. I know I did download that program but have since gone back and tried to delete it from my computer. Evidently I was not successful. I have looked for it all over to see if I missed deleting somehow but I can't even find it now. If you have a suggestion I will gladly try. I'm also going to get my tech guy to look at it. Thanks!!

  • My home page will not stay saved,it keeps going back to the firefox default page

After I've saved my home page(yahoo.com)there will be no problem until my laptop either is turned off or restarted. After I turn on my laptop when I connect to the internet, my home page is changed from yahoo.com to the firefox default almost like if I just updated firefox. And I'm getting tired of having to change my home page back every time I turn my laptop on.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Saving settings on Yahoo home page

When I launch Firefox 4.0 using '''Yahoo.ca''' as my home page. I adjust it to "compact view, ctrl ++ etc to enlarge the font. Then "save page as" command. When I re-launch Firefox again, none of my changes I thought I saved are evident..back to the initial settings. Dah, what am I missing??? W7 Pro

The command "Save Page As" downloads the site to your own computer. If you click the '''Downloads '''button and then where you see the Yahoo site, right click it and choose ''Open Containing Folder'', you can view what you've downloaded on your own machine.
But I gather that that's not what you're trying to achieve.
If you want to change the font size permanently, then you'll have to do it via Tools | Options | Content and then click the Advanced button in the Fonts & Colors menu. However, the changes you make will affect all sites you visit after that.
You might be able to achieve your goal with an add-on. There's a list of font changers here which might help: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=font&cat=all&x=0&y=0 Fonts]

  • When I change my Internet (proxy) and home page settings and then close and reopen Firefox, they are not saved. Why is this happening?

I am going under Tools and Options, then Advanced -> Network -> Settings and changing the automatic configuration script for my work network. When I hit OK everything works. But when I close out Firefox, and then reopen it at a later time, it does not save the setting change I made and I have to do it all over again. This is also happening when I change my home page information as well...

  • When I open a new internet "tab", only a blank page comes up, not my saved "home page"

Running a Mac, had a new hard drive installed, reloaded Firefox, etc....
When I open a new tab for a new internet page, my home page does not open, I only get a blank page "untitled". I never had this issue with the other HD in the Mac. All updates are current

You must have had an extension that added that feature to Firefox with the old hard drive.

  • Firefox will not save my tabs or prompt asking if I want to save tabs. When it reopens it doesn't even bring up my home pages which have been properly saved. I have tried all the suggested fixes - the problem persists even in safe mode.

Firefox does not prompt to save my tabs nor does it bring them back when it reopens. It does not even bring up my home page. I have tried the suggested fixes in the help section. This still happens in safe mode so I tried disabling plugins etc. - no change.

All tabs have been set in options as home page, but at least once a day the home page tabs are removed and it goes back to default.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • I can't figure out how to sync my home page??

I have tried to sync my homepage with the one I created and for some weird reason everything else will change on the website except the home page. I have saved it the put the page to the website then i would hit synchronize site wide. it still will not update the website anything else will. please help i have been trying to get help for a month now. Please someone respond to this!!!

Could you post a link to the site?
I'm going to guess in the mean time that you might have done one of the following...
    1. Uploaded the home page to the wrong location
    2. Named the home page something that is not used by the server as a default (myindex.html rather than index.html for example)
    3. Improperly capitalized something. Servers are case sensitive so index.html and Index.html are two different pages on the server, on your local OS they would be the same file.
    4. Changed the index page's extension to one that is further down the list of defaults from the original while not removing the original file (.php vs .html for example) leading to an old page to show online rather than the new
    5. You may just have a sticky cache in your browser on that file, make sure to clear your cache and view the site again
