Home Page Start-up restores tabs from not last session also.

My Home Page startup session is saved in the options preferences. But it isn't returning to my personalized default. It adds tabs from last session. I thought they were supposed to disappear. They have done that for years, but not now. Have you changed it? Should I be closing each unwanted tab before ending a session?

that didn't solve my problem, you gave me an incomplete search term; after browser.sessionstore, the strings of choices are much longer. Can you revisit the complete link so I can choose. Also, I think a long time ago, someone suggested something like that and it only worked for awhile. Is there something that resets the correct "false" to true?

  • Firefox opens with my tabs from my last session even though my options are set to show my homepage on start up.

Whenever I open Firefox, it starts up with my tabs from my last session even though I have "Show my homepage" selected in my options for when Firefox starts.

I first thought that i had the show my homepage option selected but when i checked it had changed. Here is how to change it back....
    1. Go to FIREFOX
    2. Select OPTIONS under the OPTIONS tab
    3. Under general make sure you have the 'When firefox stats: show my homepage'
    selected
    Then restat firefox

  • When the browser opens, I want to be able to open all my open tabs from the last session or have a blank home page if there weren't any tabs to reopen. How do I set the homepage to do that?

When Firefox starts up I would rather have a blank page for the homepage if I didn't have any tabs from my previous session to open up. There doesn't seem to be an option for this. The choice is to either reopen last session tabs OR blank page but does not seem to allow for "if no last session tabs, then open blank page" If it does, then please tell me how.

It would seem if your choose "Show my windows and tabs from last time" '''''and''''',
*when you last closed Firefox, you had no web site open (just a blank tab), that it would open just that blank tab
*when you last closed Firefox, you had one or more tabs/web site open, that would allow you to "Restore Previous Session"
    #Have you tried that?
#If so, what is happening in each circumstance when you reopen Firefox?
    '''Restore Previous Session'''<br />
Open tabs are automatically saved when closing Firefox beginning in Firefox 4. To open your last session, after Firefox starts, click History > Restore Previous Session. For this to work

  • When I open safari how do i change the setting so i do not see the tabs from my last session?

    can anyone help?

It is the Resume feature in Lion.
Hold the Shift key down and launch Safari.
To turn off the Resume feature globally
System Preference > General > Number of recent items
uncheck the box for "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps".

  • Firefox won't automatically open tabs from my previous session.

I have literally tried everything, from the general option menu to directly using about:config to fix this problem. It happens all the damn time, and after dicking with it, I can usually fix it, but this time, I cannot get firefox to restore tabs from my previous session. I have it set to restore my previous session in the general options menu, it warns me when I close multiple tabs, private browsing is disabled. I don't know what else to do. I've scoured this site and tried every solution I could find, but none of them are working.
Firefox had frozen, so I had to ctrl/alt/del to close it, and when I restarted it, my session was gone forever. I've done this before and it's never dicked with the settings. I realize that there's a 'restore previous session' option in the history, but I want it to load automatically.
It's getting really bothersome with the amount of times firefox has done this.

    Go to''' Tools'''
    then '''Options'''
    In privacy choose '''Remember History'''
    Then go to
    ''General Tab''
At the start up drop down menu when firefox starts select
'''show my windows and tabs from last time'''
    That should fix things

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • History:Restore tab does not restore to the page listed

In Firefox 29, when trying to restore a tab that I just closed accidentally, History, Recently Closed Tabs, "the closed tab to be restored" takes me to my home page rather than the tab that I want to restore. How can I set Firefox 20 to restore the desired tab? The desired tab is listed but the link does not function properly.

Yes, CTRL-Shift-T brings up my home page. it works the same as going to History-Recently Closed Tabs- Select tab that was closed.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

    Hi Diovizor,
Make sure that you do not use [http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History Clear Recent History] to clear the 'Browsing History' when you close Firefox.
Also please make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.
You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: Use custome settings for history. Uncheck "Always use permanent Private Browsing mode"
    Hope that helps!

Every time Firefox is launched, it opens with three tabs -- my home page, a month-old age from the slate website and the home page from the huffington post. EVERYTIME. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and the problem persists.

    Hello Kenneth.
See this article to see if you have those three tabs set as your home pages: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page

  • When I click my home page icon the tab this is open goes to my home page BUT another new tab opens.

when I click my home page icon the tab that is open goes to my home page BUT another new tab opens. How do I stop the new tab from appearing?

It's easy to add extra tabs to your set of home pages. You can use the Options dialog to make sure there is only one. These articles point the way:
    * [[Startup, home page and download settings]]
    * [[How to set the home page]]
Because the space is short, you may want to select the whole home page URL (Ctrl+A) and paste it into a document or into a larger textbox like the one I'm typing in now. You're looking for a vertical bar (|) that is followed by a second URL.
If it's not part of your home page setting, the most likely cause for this change is a bad add-on that rode along with some free software.
    I suggest starting here:
Open Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
Then, in Firefox, open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible).
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that shut down the extra tab?

  • Installing Firefox 4 changed my tabs options so when I start load it starts a new session. I want to recover my tabs from my previous session. How?

Installing Firefox 4 changed my tabs options so when I loaded, it has started a new session and not loaded the tabs I had open when I closed my last session.
I want to recover my tabs from my previous session. Possible?
My previous session had been open for over a week so this history is basically useless as it's cluttered with thousands of pages.

    # Press Alt+T
    # Click on Options
    # Go to General Panel
    # Under the category When Firefox Starts select "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Every time I launch Firefox 4 it opens 3 or 4 blank windows, no longer opens the tabs from the previous session and does not show my bookmarks sidebar.

I have to manually close the extra windows and restore the tabs from the previous session, and reopen the sidebar. In disgust I uninstalled Firefox 4 and reinstalled 3.6. Everything works fine in 3.6. Looks to me like Firefox 4 has many major bugs and is not yet ready for prime time. I'll stay with 3.6 for now.
