Home page won't publish correctly

I am getting very frustrated. I have been having this issue the last few times I have updated my home page and published it. All the other pages seem to be publishing fine, its just the home page that is going nuts.
I have tried to upload just the motifited files, I have tried to upload all files, I have deleted the muse manafest and reuploaded the all files and still can't get the home page to publish correctly. Before today I was having issues with the menu bar loading correctly. Today I went in and redid the home page and now the whole page is a mess.

Did you try to start in Safe mode?
In Firefox 4+ versions you can use one of these to start in Safe mode:
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
*Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
See:

• I installed snow leopard and now videos on my Xfinity home page won't play

I installed snow leopard and now videos on my Xfinity home page won't play

You may be in the same boat as me.
I deliberately bought a refurb Feb 2011 MacBook Pro, because it would have originally shipped with Snow Leopard. I have to run an application for my job, which does not run under Lion.
Unfortunately, Apple is now upgrading all Snow Leopard machines, before selling them as refurbs. I purchased a legal copy of Snow Leopard, and have tried various downgrade solutions that I found posted on the net, without success. No matter what I do, it always goes into "three beep mode" after trying to install Snow Leopard.
The latest development came this evening, while I was talking to the "geniuses" at Apple. Apparently, there is now a firmware revision that loads the first time you run Software Update under Lion, and it locks the machine so that it can't revert to Snow Leopard.
The only option they have been able to offer me so far, is to return the machine and get a refund. This is maddening, as I HAVE to have a Snow Leopard machine, and can't find any other way to purchase one.

• My home page won't set...

When I try to set my home page in preferences it sets, but it reverts back to my old home page when I restart. For some reason, the new home page won't save. Any clues?

Hi Fototrip,
You are so welcome, I am sorry I've not been much help with your home page

Did you do a restart of your computer after restoring the settings to default?
It seems once home-page problems start they have been very persistent.

Do you do any maintenance or clean internet clutter? empty/trash your Safari cache lately & or other files?
Quit Safari first, [did you make sure to quit safari before moving the com.apple.Safari.plist file, last time you moved it to the trash?
Try moving these files & folders to the trash bin,
after a reboot of your machine you can [if this does not help] replace the files you want, to restore/overwrite the newly created files.

• I am getting an FTP error message when publishing, it goes okay until it reaches home page. The home page does not appear correctly. Any help greatly appreciated

I have a website using iweb and am having problems publishing. When I try to publish it appears to be going through then stops at home page and I get an FTP error message. I talked to my website host and they checked it from their end on two brosers and it is fine. There suggestion was to contact this support group. They thought it had something to do with iweb code writing.

What version of iWeb are you using? What are you using to upload the site files to your FTP server?
I talked to my website host and they checked it from their end on two brosers and it is fine
What did they check? Have you tried viewing your site that's online to see if the changes went thru? Before you do so clear your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and then load the site.

• Home page does not update correctly

Can anyone help me? I have searched this forum and tried suggestions from the support site, but nothing has helped. Here is my problem:
I am using iWeb '08 and posting to MobileMe. I add entries and/or make changes to existing pages and then publish them. When I check my site, my home page is an old one. I can navigate to my updated pages and then when I return to my home page it is correct.
Any ideas on how to fix this for my computer and anyone else looking at my site?
Thanks.

Empty the cache in your browser. The old pages are on your drive, and you need to have an empty cache folder so that your browser will download new copies of your pages.
Which browser are you using?

• One page won't publish

I have been using IWeb for awhile and am very comfortable with the program. Lately, a few problems have emerged. Most irritating is that one of my pages will not publish to my website on .MAC. I've tried remaking the page, refreshing and re-publishing...nothing works.
Secondly, after I publish the IWeb continues working saying that it "is continuing to upload in the background" and then little circle graphs slowly fill-up...but some of them NEVER finish. Then, it says it is still uploading when I go to quit IWeb...even though it is clearly not working.
Lastly, several of my pages come up red when I open IWeb everytime, even though I haven't changed them.
PLEASE HELP. Thanks.

It probably is a server issue but try this:
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "Ying" and "Yang". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password.
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home()/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
launch iWeb and try again.

Usually on my msn home page I can see stocks and my hotmail account. After upgrading the place is there but it won't show whether I have new emails or not and doesn't show current stock prices.

If for FaceTime or Messages see:

Otherwise what are you doing?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac and are alternately opening one or the other.
Pages 5.5.1 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '08/'09 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages'08/'09 can not open Pages 5.5.1 files and Pages 5.5.1 alters Pages '09 files.
Right click open to chose the correct version of Pages for your files.
Pages 5.5.1 is a supposed "upgrade" but has over 100 features missing. I am surprised you didn't notice the huge difference in the User Interface as well.
If you are unhappy about all this mess, say so by rating/reviewing Pages 5.5.1 in the App Store.

• Home page won't link to a new page.

I can link from the New Page back to Home. Or from Home to any other page and back again.
But when I click on the New Page nothing happens. Except a Yahoo tab opens every time I try it. What's the problem? I created the New Page with the same methodology as all the others. Thanks for any help. -- Todd

Todd:
Are you referring to the link in the navbar at the top? Try using the File->Publish All to MobileMe and see it that will jump start the link.
Otherwise try creating another new page with the same theme and see if it is reachable from the Home page. If so, copy and past the items on the problem page to the new one and delete the problem page.

• Only my home page won't open when I go to log in, it gets the message that the session has timed out. What can I do about it?

I can log in and use my homepage in IE but I get a session timed out message when I try to log in while using Firefox. the URL is: https://familysearch.org.

I also did one other thing, before I got the reply. I changed my home page from the log in page to the website's home page. Then I can log in after clicking the log in button. It seems that the log in page wasn't allowing me to get into another session. Perhaps this will help someone else. The above solution was good in that it helped me find out all the places I needed to go to erase unwanted cookies, etc. Thanks for the help.

• New York Times home page doesn't display correctly

New York Times home appears without any formatting. All text, including links, and all objects (videos, photos, etc.) appear justified left, stacked individually. This means it takes five minutes just to scroll down the page to see the headlines. Have upgraded to Firefox 4, which fixed the problem until the next time the page reloaded. Cleared the cache, checked page style and zoom, all settings are normal and/or recommended. Do not have this problem with any other website or any other page of the NY Times. Only the home page.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• Home page won't load completely

When I open itunes, the main page will not load. I can see the 'Quick Links' and 'Top Charts' on the side but the main center part wont appear. When I click on 'see all' singles under the 'top charts' the songs all come up but the preview button doesn't appear and I cant do anything. I'm very frustrated.

Suddenly (as of this AM) I'm having this same issue. I'm running a MBA under 10.7.3, with latest iTunes (10.5.3). Never had this problem before.
Symptoms:
The Home Page is completely blank except for right panels (Quick Links, Top Charts) and iTunes Store footer; all other tabs on top do the same, except for App Store page, which is completely blank.
Connection to Store is fine--iPhone syncs w/o a problem, and I can see my apps, music, updates, etc., can even access my Wish List.
Updates download w/o problems, but if I try to view page for an app, only the top part of the page loads, down to "What's New in version xxx". Everything below is blank--no views of app, no Reviews, etc.
Category pages will load, but without any Thumbnails, only text, but Purchase buttons work.
My iPhone connects and appears as it should--no problems at all.
What I've Tried:
reloading iTunes page--several times--no help.
Reopening iTunes--several times--no help.
Rebooting Mac--ditto
On iPhone:
App Store seems to work fine.
Anyone have any suggestions?

• Home page won't load on startup

I've had all sorts of issues with safari 3.1.1 in trying to sort out these problems I've done something since removing some 3rd party plugins where on loading safari it opens on last page visited instead of reverting back to my home page, It does not do this if I login up under my "Test" user, so it's somewhere in my personal settings.......... any ideas as it's annoying

Some 3rd party add-ons such as SAFT open on a restart all tabs from a previous session. Which 3rd party items do you have remaining?
