Home screen bookmark icons different on IPad 2

I have a question that I hope someone can answer, I've been trying to add bookmarks to my home screen, but their icons are just a snap shot of the web page. I have the same icon on my iPhone home screen, and the icon automatically change to an actual icon.
Is there a reason why these icons would be acting differently between the iPhone and the iPad??

I've contacted both companies and they state that it has to do with the ipad recognizing the icon, and that it has nothing to do with the web site design, any other suggestions?

Home screen bookmarks icon change on firefox upgrade

Whenever FF upgrades bookmark icons on my home screen revert to the FF default. Can this behavior be prevented? If not, is there a simple way, short of replacing the bookmark, to return the desktop bookmark to the one specified by the web pag?

http://www.tvpassport.com/tvgrid.shtml is one url that exhibits the problem. On the latest update I notice that both the icon and caption changed - caption became "Firefox". This particular bookmark is on the app dock.
Happens on Samsung Galaxy Tab II 10.1", GPT5113. Android 4.2.2. Also on HTC One S, ville. Android 4.1.1.
Other url displaying problem http://m.swisschalet.com/mobile/, http://thaioneon.com/mobile/. These are in a folder on the desktop.

App to make home screen bookmarks into apps?

As it seems there is no direct way to see if your home screen bookmark got saved in an iPad sync on the Mac, maybe an alternative approach can be done by some enterprising programmer? Why not convert the home screen bookmarks into short apps that are clearly backed up in your iTunes? I don't see the bookmarks actually saved like the Apps are in iTunes unless they are synced directly from Safari. I'm hoping to find some way to access the bookmarks I created on my home screen instead of the ones that are on Safari. Anybody know of such an app?

I also have an original iPad and have that behavior...usually when working on a site such as these communities in Safari. When that happens I do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignoring the red slider if it appears. That seems to clear whatever has been overloading the memory and tripping it.

Videos on a web page will no longer play when accessed via a 'home screen' bookmark

I have saved certain web pages as bookmarks 'to the home screen' but since the iOS update when I open these pages and try to play an embedded video that is hosted on the website itself (as opposed to a YouTube type one) the video will no longer load or play, its as though the play button pop up is missing, they will play from a standard bookmark and they will play from the page when I load it up in Safari before I save the bookmark but as soon as I create a shortcut and 'add to home screen' they stop playing.
I've tried this on iPad 2, iPad Mini & iPad Air all running iOS 8, they were all fine before the iOS update so that's certainly caused the issue but has anyone else experienced this or know how to resolve it?!

it's possible. but you have quite a lot to learn or you should hire someone. it's unlikely you'll find someone to do all that gratis.
if you want to learn, check the video class. it will let you play the flv file without a skin.
you can also use the flvplayback component with no skin. that will add to your swf's file size with no benefit except it's easier to use than the video class.
the floating and disappearing can all be done with divs.

Can't delete iPhone home screen bookmarks

Hello,
For some reason, every time I delete a bookmark icon from the home screen (made from mobile safari) it keeps coming back. Is there any way to make this stop happening? It will stay gone for a while, and then come back. Even synching after deleting it doesn't work. Suggestions??

It sounds like a little glitch in the OS.
I would try resetting the phone (hold the Home and Sleep keys until the Apple logo appears) and see if that clears up the issue.

2 questions -
1 - Is there a way to move an icon from the 2nd home screen to the 1st home screen? I can't seem to get it to work. They wiggle and move, but won't make the jump back to the primary home screen.
2 - Is there a way to change the name of an icon after it has been made? One of mine is too long and I'd like to shorten it.

Yes. Just push the icon way to the left of the screen. It should move over there.

No, you need to delete it and make another one, if you are referring to bookmark icons.

Z2 with 4.4.4 unable to open home screen bookmarks

I have a fresh restore of 4.4.4 with all the latest updates and chrome. I've added a couple of bookmarks to the home screen but when I click then, Chrome opens and nothing happens.
This didn't happen before I done a restore.
Help!

You should be able to resolve this issue by performing a data clear from the app.
Menu > Settings > Apps > All > Chrome > Clear Data
You may need to add the Bookmarks again first before you try opening them.

Home screen camera icon

Yesterday I opened my iPhone and saw a camera icon on the home screen. I remembered that when IOS5 was introduced one of the new features was the ability to access the camera instantly from the home screen without going to the camera function on the phone. Now the camera icon on my home screen is gone. Any ideas what has happened to it?

You have to double click the home button for the camera icon to appear on the lock screen.

What happened to the home screen button from 1st gen iPad? Can't close apps.

I received a 1st generation iPad as a regift. It worked fine until I erased and synced it with my iTunes and other devices. Instead of the home button, it had that little circle in the corner to get you back to the home screen (don't know what that's called). Now that I've synced, that circle/button is gone, and the home button doesn't take me home. I am stuck in whatever app or settings screen I open, and can't close it without a full reboot. I'm not sure what ios it was using before I reset amd synced, but now it is using 5.1.1. Is this the problem? Any fixes?

If the unit has NEVER been jailbroke, first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless... Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

Home screen Browser icon

I have had my Verizon BB Curve (8330) for about 6 months - all of a sudden my home screen displayed a "Browser" tiny icon - the globe so it looks the same as my Browser icon - with a "1" by it -
Does anyone know what this is - or how to clear it? Thanks

That would be a browser message. Go into your message icon and hit the menu key. Select view folder and then select browser messages. And that should do it.

Black home screen no icons!!!

had this droid razer for about a week...my home screen went just went black. I can see my lock page and top info bar but thats it! as soon as i unlock my phone screen is black. I did 3 or 4 soft reboots holding the volume key and power button down and no change. I even resorted to a hard restart....went through that whole process and NO CHANGE!!! what happened and what do i do????

By "hard restart" are you referring to a factory reset as described here? If so, then you will need to bring it to a VZ store or call them for assistance.

Home screen widget icons

I have a problem here. I had all the widgets on the main page and my kid drag one over to a second page and then he dragged one over to a new page. How can I drag those back because I try to click and drag the widgets back over to the first page but they are stuck in one place and won't move.

you have to press and hold on an icon before you will be able to move any. after you have held your finger on top of an icon for a couple of secounds you will notice that the icons start shaking, thats when you will be able to move them around and from page to another.

After updating iPhone 4 to 7.0.6, apps say "open" and work, but I CANNOT get them back on the home screen as icons.

I can only downloaded apps that I deleted before the update, not the ones that were already there. This is driving me nuts and I can't find the solution ANYWHERE.

Checked the usb status and it sees an iphone ( 4s ) attached,
Repaired disc permissions
updated and reset iphone
and itunes
reinstalled mavericks from scratch
phone alert saying " TRUST THIS COMPUTER?"
hit trust
same alert keeps appearing
again and again
itunes keeps wittling on about "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. You do not have permission."
what the actual F*** is going on and can anybody help ??????

Safari goes back to home screen when opened using Safari icon

I dropped my iphone Saturday, fortunately I had it in my Otterbox case which was in its holster. Thank God there was no physical damage to the phone. However, now I notice that every time I want to use Safari using the Safari icon on the home screen, it doesn't respond and kicks me back to the home screen after a few seconds. I reset the iphone first, deleted cookies, history and cache finally did a restore and still kicks me back to the home screen. If I click one of bookmarks I have on my home screen it works fine, it's unresponsive basically when it opens on a blank page. Any help will be deeply appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The apps (mail and Safari) are crashing for some reason. I would start with this.
Double tap the home button to bring up the task bar where all of your recent apps will appear. Hold down on the mail app icon until it wiggles - along with the rest of the icons - and then tap the minus sign in the corner of the icon to cloase the app. Close Safai the same way and continue to close all of the apps in the task bar. Tap the screen above the task bar to return to the home screen.
Now restart your iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider bar appears and slide to shut off. To power up, hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and then let go of the button. Try Mail and Safari again to see if that helped.
If that doesn't work - reset the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. After the iPad has started up, try the apps again.
One last thing you may try for Safari is this ... Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Then restart the iPad like I explained above and try Safari again.

HOW TO: Edit or Change the URL in an existing "home screen" iPhone bookmark

I can create "home screen" bookmarks from web pages in the mobile Saafari on the iPhone, but in some cases we may need to create a URL for say a video link (e.g. WOWZA media server to iPhone)
e.g.
http://10.0.1.4:1935/live/mystream.sdp/playlistm.3u8
Links like these don't allow you to click the "+" symbol to create a link in safari as they immediately launch the video player - so I'm looking for a way to edit another icon/URL that was saved before.
I know you can edit Safari Bookmark URLs etc on the iPhone, but the convenience of a 'home screen' bookmark for say a live broadcast is very nice.

I am calling an existing SAP Inbound proxy which is returning a transient ack in case of Application error.
How is the ACK returned? In form of a XML message? Create a response structure which will have your Main Response Message and also fields for the ACK message.....get this message into BPM.....make a check in the BPM (using SWITCH) and check if the node containing ACK fields is existing....if yes then proceed as per the business needs.
Accordingly the proxy should be configured to populate the ack details.
