  • Standby screen email notification

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I've been visiting the forum for years and found answers to all my queries and fixed all my problems.
I'll make an admission before I pose my question, I used to own a P990i... it's now gathering dust as I replaced it with my fantastic n95.
Anyway, my question. I like the standby screen on s60v3. Quick and easy access to 6 apps and a view of upcoming appointments, tasks and to-do's. I saw a picture of another nokia s60v3 standby screen and it showed 2 emails also. I've never made my n95 do this - how do you display received emails on the home screen??
I don't like it when there are features that I don't know how to use !!
    thanks in advance.

Erm this is a guess try this, if you go to messenging, then click on the email account you have created, then press options, then email settings, then user settings, then make sure new email alerts is on. Btw this is just a guess, I dont use the email function that much as I just tend to use the browser to look at my webmail instead as its more graphical.

  • E72 Home Screen-Email accounts

Is it possible to display more than 2 email accounts on the home screen of the E72?
I currently have 3 email accounts set up on my phone but only 2 of these display on the home screen.
    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    sadly not
one will be called as primary mail and the other will be called as secondary
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • 5800 XM lost the email notification

No reason for that: one day it just disappeared, leaving a blank line between the 2 black horizontal separator. I'm running the app with a red @ as icon, which was proposed by the device once started up.
Please don't tell me to update the software, set the notification as visible, doing a hard reset, as I already did it all this stuff.
I read somewhere to delete the file C:\private\10202be9\persist which can be found by using X-plore. Again: I did install it, but that folder named private is not shown (shall I think that there isn't any?).
Does anyone reckon that this issue may be fixable?

Not sure if this helps but you selecting Email Notification in Nokia Messaging, or in the Home Screen settings? If you're using the Contacts Bar home screen theme, there's an option in Settings->Personal->Home screen->Email Notification, give that a shot?

You can use the social application widget built into the phone , or try the Socially app which gives homescreen  notification and social contacts intergration with contacts.

  • Getting next calendar event on home screen

I have just bought an iPhone 5, never had one before. On my old htc and before that, on my Nokia n95, I could get the next calendar event on my home screen - how do I do this on my iPhone?

    Well how bizaare !
I went into Settings - Personal - Home Screen - Home Screen Theme and switched to "Basic", then to "Contacts" .... and the Home Screen emails appeared again.
I then went back to the Home Screen sub  menu, and a 4th entry had appeared : E-mail Notification ! Before there were only 3 (Shortcuts, Home Screen and Home Screen Theme).
I've now gone back to my original Home Screen Theme  (Shortcuts Bar).
What a strange (and at times frustrating) phone.

  • Email Notification on Home Screen

Hi everyone, todays N97 problem appears to be as follows..........
After going through half a dozen email clients i finally went back to the default one installed in the phone and for the past 4 days i have been using it without any problems what so ever. Today though, after recieving a new email, i retrieved it from my inbox, read it and deleted it (phone memory) as i have done previous days. Todays problem seems to be that the new email notification on the home screen is still there after deleting the last new email.  Even after i mark all the emails in my inbox and delete them and then re-connect to my inbox they appear again, this has only started to happen as of today.
Ive seen in other forum posts that this cant be de-activated? How can this be the case if i have been using the client for 4 days and im only having this problem now? Its a notification, so technically of course it can be removed or stopped.
Please please please help with this solution, the only one i can find at the moment is switching the handset on and off which isnt a solution what so ever.

exactly.. This was very unwelcome.. I undrstand the contact bar widget has limited space to put everythin we want.. But in shortcut bar home theme y did they remove email notification.. Tht was very unwise..
Moreover we should be able to choose what we'd need on the home screen.
Moreover the Contacts bar home screen widget takes an awful amount of RAM! Abt 5-6MB i guess.. Lets see what v60, as rumored, has to offer..

  • How  to set email notification on home page lock screen on iphone 4s . Settings did not work, what am I missing?

I have  a iphone 4s. I cannot get any email notifications on the home page/ lock screen. Also to find out if i have mail i have to press on the email icon and it will update , then it will show i have mail. I talked to a verizon technician and went trough all the settings .  He suggested  to reset the settings to default , if that does not work i need to replace the phone.  Any suggestions ? Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Miri

What are you rmail settings?  Sounds like manual pull versus push, is this correct?  If your email provider does not offer "push" mail like gmail or iCloud then change from manual pull to hourly or the interval you prefer; more frequent can degrade battery performance.
Also, go to Settings > Notifications and select "Mail" and move "view in lock screen" to on to see message previews in the lock screen.

  • Email Icon Notification - Home Screen - Option to remove automatic notification?

I have a need to remove the automatic email notification on the home screen.
Would love to know how to remove the option of automatically being notified for every new email but retain the ability to check my emails from the handset.
    Thanks

You could always modify your Sounds profile to not play a tone and not flash the red LED when you receive a work email on the weekend so you would only see the email when you looked at your phone.
    Just an idea

  • Unwanted 'New Email' notification on home screen

Havin read some of the posts on this board concerning email notification messages, i went to
menu-tools-settings-general-personalisation-homescreen-mode settings-homescreen applications-enabledapplications, and unticked both email1 and email2 notifications, and yet I still get the message every time I recieve an email on the mail for exchange.
    any suggestions?
also it does seem pretty absurd the setttings are buried away in these menus to such an extent you have to look it up online to sort the navigation...

I agree with you. The Nokia Messaging gives you the push mail, but the notification on the phone is poor. You have to open the Nokia Mail app on the 5800 to see the message. Without V30 if new mail arrives and you miss the beep there is no indication from the home screen of new mail.
Even with V30 unfortunately you can only see the most recent email that has arrived on the home screen- and for some reason it still shows it as unopened once you've read it i.e. the closed envelope rather then opened.
FYI- you can turn the email notification on the home screen off.
I'm still amazed that there isn't a unified app that brings SMS, Mail, Chat etc all into the same window. So you only have to check in one place for incoming communication. Maybe there's a third party solution out there??
Maybe one of the other Nokia phones has this, E72?

  • Email and notifications visible on home screen

How can I keep my email notifications from showing up on my wallpaper page on my GalaxySIII. I don't want them visible to anyone who may happen to pick up my phone if it happens to be lost or stolen. My phone has only recently started doing this and the latest messages show up on the screen before it's even swiped to unlock. They aren't showing up as a number on the icon...it's usually showing the sender and the first sentence of the message.

        Hello Marti1955
I would be happy to look into this with you. You are able to change the display in the Email app> menu>Settings>Display. You can change if your notified also under Menu> account settings. There is also a yahoo email application that is available via the play store.

  • E-mail Notification On Home Screen 5800 v.30....wh...

This so called feature is not available after updating so a hard reset is required for it to be seen which i did do.
I then restored a back up and it disappeared.I then tried 2 back up's, one with settings and one without and it still wasn't anywhere to be seen.
So, if you really really really want E-mail notification on Home Screen then you'll have to start the phone from scratch, excellent work there Nokia.....why implement a feature that disappears after restoring a back up from your own software (PC suite)!
Still shaking my head at this **bleep** up!

For all of you who consider hard resetting the phone and starting it from scratch, so that the email notification on the homescreen appears: it works just fine, even if you use the Nokia Email instead of the built in email client!

  • My phone won't show notifications on my home screen or lock screen for text messages

My phone won't show notifications for text messages on my lock screen or my home screen, even thought both are turned on under the settings. Once I go into the messaging app, they will show up as new but not anywhere else. I get notifications for everything else except text messages.

Messages should work with the email address that you use for your Apple ID. You have to be signed into that email address in order for any other email address that you have added to work.
You should add your iPhone number to your Apple ID on the iPad, and then select that as the contact address at which you can be reached and all of the messages between the phone and the iPad will sync again.
