Home Screen Setup

Just got a 8530 yesterday when the browser on my 8330 crapped out.  Got everything backed up but I'm having issues with my home screen.  On my 8330 I had nothing but icons on my home screen.  Now on the 8530 I've just got 6.  This seems silly but I can't seem to find a way to get my home screen back to the way it was on my 8330.  Any help would be appreciated.

Check for different themes that allow for that.  Or just get used to pushing yor menu button from home screen.

  • How to setup the Home Screen Application

    Hi,
    I'm using Nokia 5630 XpressMusic.
When I goto Menu->Settings->Settings->General->Personalisation->Standby Mode->Home Screen Application, there is a list of application available for selection(Mark/UnMark) as below:
    O Shortcut bar
    O Calendar
    O WLAN
    O Contacts on OVI
    O Contacts bar
I will be able to check the applications that I wish to appear on the Home Screen. My question is how to setup a list of application available for selection. For example,
    O Shortcut bar
    O Messaging
    O WLAN
    O Calculator
    O Web
    Pls advise!

Sorry, I cannot get the option path you mentioned.  I'm using Nokia 5630 model which is based on S60 3rd Edition software.  When I goto main menu->settings:  there are 4 options:  "General", "Phone", "Connection" and "Applications"; I goto "General", there are "Personalization", "Date and time", "Enhancement", "Security", "Factory settings", "Positioning".  I goto "Personalization", there are "Display", "Standby mode", "Tone", "Themes", "Language","Voice commands".  I goto "Personalization", there are "Home screen applicaitons", "Shortcuts", "Standby theme", "Notifica.light", "Email notification".  I cannot find the option that allow me to change the list of applicaitons on "Home screen applications".
Pls indicate which option path that I should use.

  • Home Screen Icon Setup

I've looked but can not find it. I'm interested in setting up the icons that appear on my home screen. Is that possible? Can I customize which individual icons I will see?
Look forward to reading this board!!!

That depends. Are you talking about the physical look of you icons? If so they cannot be changed unless you change your theme. If you want to change what icons appear on your homescreen you can do that. You can click on an icon with the berry key and click hide. This will make the icon "disappear". You would then have to click the berry key and select show all to see the hidden icon. What I recommend and what I do is create folders on my homescreen. Click on the berry key and select add folder. You can give the folder a name and change the color of it. I have one for games and one for all my other icons I don't regularly use. That way they are not clogging up my homescreen but they are still easily accessable. Just click on an icon with the berry key then select move. Drag it over to the folder and click the trackball. That easy! Please let me know if you need more help.

  • N97 mini - blank/unresponsive home screen & nokia ...

I have been having problems with my Nokia N97 mini.  It froze yesterday, and I removed and re-installed the battery to restart the phone.  When the phone came back on, the email widget had changed from Nokia email to the messaging email option (the one that you get under the messaging icon - it doesn't download in real time and rarely downloads the full message).
It froze again and I had to re-start it again, and this time, the home screen went completely blank.  It either shows the little boxes for the various widgets (they're empty), or the screen is completely blank.  Occasionally the screensaver (slideshow of images) comes on.  The home screen is completely unresponsive, and the only way I can get the phone to function is by pressing the menu button and navigating from there.
I have tried to re-load my nokia email so as to fix the email problem, but whenever I go to the "Email setup" or "Sett. Wizard/Email" options (under applications) the phone freezes.
I should point out that my phone downloaded Nokia Messaging 10.2 today, and the update history section says that the update was successful, but I'm still having serious difficulties.
I have tried restoring factory settings, but that didn't help.  I'm seriously considering trying a  hard reset of my phone but am unable to back up my information using Nokia Ovi Suite.
Does anyone have any suggestions re how I can start enjoying my beautiful phone again?

I would recommend trying the hard reset. If you can't backup using Ovi Suite you could trying either synching your phone with Ovi Suite or MS outlook or backing up to a memory card. Better still do all the above to be sure.

  • Home screen icons are missing

    I have a Curve 8310 running v4.5 OS.
I was hiding\rearranging some of the icons\folders on the home screen, and suddenly all the icons were missing.  Pressing the <menu> button does absolutely nothing from the home screen.  I have tried pulling the battery - no luck.
I can use <alt> <esc> to get to some applications, but not to Options or Setup.
Any idea how to get the icons back or reset the home screen to default?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try getting to your options by setting your Call Log (press the green dial key) > Menu > Options > General Options > Dial from Homescreen = OFF.
Now, on the homescreen, press the O (oh key, not the zero) for Options.
Go to themes and change themes.
Do you see your apps and icons now?

  • How to set multiple mail icons on the home screen for each email account?

    Hello Everybody,
I have multiple e-mail addresses setup on my iPhone, but only one mail icon on the home screen. Is it possible to have multiple mail icons on the home screen that are tied to each individual email account?

  • How do I delete icons in Home Screen?

    Hey guys,
My sister used my curve and when I got it back, I saw that there was a Myspace icon for the Myspace app on my home screen.  The app isn't downloaded yet, but I can't seem to delete the icon from my screen (I don't want it there).  For now I just have it hidden.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Go to options, advanced options, applications.
Let the table build and then check to see if you have an application for Myspace.
If you do highlight  the entry and menu key, delete.
Do a battery pull and this will delete the icon.
Some apps are pre set by your carrier. On my Curve I have facebook, part of the
Verizon setup. I can delete it, but whenever I get service books it is pushed to the
phone by the carrier and the icon returns. I have created a folder for these apps and
all others I do not use. By keeping the useless apps in a folder I reduce clutter and
    do not accidentally activate them.
    Thanks,

  • Appointments on HOME screen!!!

    Hi,
Just got the E71 and loving it, although a couple of things are puzzeling me.
On the HOME SCREEN I have it setup for:
    EMAIL 1 Notification
    Calendar events/upcoming appointments
Its the upcoming appointments I have a problem with, in that it will ONLY show that days appointments.
I would like IF POSSIBLE, for it to show advance appointments for a couple of days.
Is that possible or have I just got too used to my PDA.
    Many thanks
    Graeme

    Hi cl95gas,
there is an application that you can download that will do that for you, it´s called "Handy Calendar", available here http://www.penreader.com/s60-3rd-edition-software/de/Handy_Tools_Pack.html
However, that´s not free as you will notice.
I still prefer a mobile device running an OS that is at least based on an OSS system to WM, also because I privately use a Linux system. I just got a device running WM from my company and I think syncing with Outlook is easier using the Symbian than the WM phone... Even better would be a completely open OS like Android or the one in the Neo1973.
I think the odds aren´t too good for upgrades from Nokia´s side for E-series devices in general - for the E61 in particular, I don´t know about E71.

  • IPad revers back to a home screen from another page being used, IE Facebook    Good battery and wifi signal

iPad revers back to a home screen from another page being used, IE Facebook    Good battery and wifi signal.   Sometimes several times in a couple of minutes. Could there be an problem with internal hardware

    Hi there
My wife and I have been dealing with a very similar issue with our iPhone 5ss, all battery drain issues started after the upgrade to ios 7.03. We have performed numerous restores and have had 3 trips to the Genius Bar.  Finally they gave us new iPhones (yesterday).  We had hoped this would do the trick but we have the same problem on the new phones.
This morning I restored one and didn't sign into iCloud.  Battery drain is now gone.  And when I deleted iCloud from my wife's phone it too went back to normal.  So I believe the culprit is iCloud and I am now testing various setups with iCloud to determine which app/setting is causing the problem.
Hope this helps with your phones.  I will post again if I can narrow it down to something specific.
    Good luck!

  • Home screen shortcut buttons

can you change the home screen buttons on the bottom? It has phone, contacts, messaging, and apps? also, can you change the search default provider?

If the buttons are setup like most devices you can drag any shortcut to replace a icon on launcher but the app button for the start menu..
As for the defailt search provider, you can install other ones like google but you wont be able to change the default search engine...  But you can place google widget on a home page and clock it to search and it should search Google instead of Bing..

  • Favorite contacts on home screen of asha 202

    Hello everyone..
I just bought a nokia asha 202.. My problem is that I can't preview my favorite contacts on my home screen even though I selected favorite contacts for the home screen short cut.. It only says 'waiting'.. I had waited for a week now and it stills says 'waiting'.. I tried to update its firmware but another problem arises.. I used the nokia suite 3.4.49, and I encountered an error at the last step.. I read a thread here about a problem regarding firmware update and I think we have the same issue.. After downloading the software (24mb/24mb), it states that i need to wait 3049 minutes to complete the download.. And after sometime, it will skip steps and states that an error occur..
Do i really need to make the update, or is there a way to resolve my issue regarding the home screen? Hope for a solution..

    Hi genom219,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
Please completely uninstall Nokia Suite from your PC by following the instructions below.
    Windows XP:
Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
    Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
Scroll through the list of installed applications, then click Nokia PC Suite
    Click the Add/Remove button.
Click the Uninstall button from the Nokia PC Suite window, then follow the on-screen instructions until the setup wizard has completed removed the program.
Restart your computer to complete the removal process.
    Windows Vista / Windows 7:
Click Start, then click Control Panel.
Click Programs, then click Uninstall a program.
Select Nokia PC Suite from the list of installed programs, then click Uninstall/Change.
Confirm that you want to remove the Nokia PC Suite program from your PC.
Restart your computer to complete the removal process.
Once Nokia Suite has uninstalled, please reinstall via this link.
Now connect your phone with Nokia Suite and create a back up of your phone's data via Tools > Back up. Make sure not to tick the Setting box.
Now disconnect from Nokia Suite and enter *#7370# into your phone and default security code 12345 (unless you've changed this code yourself).
Once the phone has rebooted, reconnect with Nokia Suite and click on the green arrow icon where an update will be displayed. Updating the software should work after a reset and reinstalling Nokia Suite, if you're still having issues after performing the above, use Nokia Software updater instead. Now go to Tools > Restore in Nokia Suite to restore the back up you've made.
The phone should display your favourite contacts on the home screen now. Please get back to me if you manage to resolve the issue, otherwise I can provide further support.

  • N8 MAIL WIDGETS FOR HOME SCREEN

I was sent a N8 to trial by Nokia a while ago and loved it so much got one on my 3 contract.
    However.......
On the original one when I wanted to add my individual e-mail accounts to a home screen I could do this. So it showed my blueyonder/yahoo/ovi mail all in seperate windows/widgets.
However now when I try to do the same I just get the "new mailbox" widget/icon.
When I go to settings, it then lists the mail accouns I have....but when I click on one of them, it just leaves the widget/icon the same "new mailbox"
    Anyone any ideas at all?
    Alan

If you have already set up email, you should be able to add it to the home screen in the following way:
long press empty slot on home screen
    select "+"
select Mail in the widget list
in "Select mailbox" view tap the mailbox which you want to add
    select Done
If you just see the email setup wizard in the home screen widget, it may be that there's not yet an email mailbox properly defined.

  • Email accounts on home screen

    Hello,
First of all thanks for any assistance.
I am attempting to setup 2 email accounts on a Blackberry Tour. The emails are setup properly and sending / receiving is working with no issues at all.
My question is related to the home screen. The following link is a screenshot of the phone's home screen.
    http://imgur.com/zMyjn.jpg
The first icon (left to right) shows all of my messages from both of my email accounts, let's call them accounts A and B. The second mail icon shows messages from ONLY Email Account B. How can I make it so the first icon only shows messages from account A and the second icon behaves as it does now, showing only messages from account B?
    Thanks for any help

By default, BES email is put only into the Messages icon/app. BIS emails are placed into their own icons, but they remain contained in the main Messages app. This is how it works by default. It is not redundant -- rather, think of Messages as the catch-all place, with the independent BIS icons being a filter, pulling (from Messages) to them only the messages that pertain to them...but if you act on an email (read, delete, etc.) in one, the change will be reflected in the other.
Your BES Admin can push a BES-only email icon to your device. This solution is free, but must be conducted at the BES server, and will affect all users on that BES server.
KB15003 How to create a separate icon on the BlackBerry smartphone for only BlackBerry Enterprise Server messages
Or you can get the Empower BES Inbox application. This solution costs (per user), but does not require a change at the server, and only affects the one user.
    http://www.getempower.com/Empower_BES_MailBox.php
Or, if your device OS has the option, you can dictate what shows in Messages:
Homescreen > Messages > > Options > (Main Message List Settings) or (Inbox Settings) > uncheck what you want to suppress in Messages
Neither of the first two solutions will do anything about Messages -- it will continue to contain everything that it today contains. All they will do is activate an additional icon on your homescreen that is a filter for your BES-only emails. You can hide or move the Messages icon/app somewhere out of the way, but beware -- there are more than just emails that arrive in Messages...there will come a day when you have a new message flag and only by digging through Messages will you be able to find that message.
Hopefully that helps explain how it all works!
    Good luck!

  • My new playbook keeps freezing up. Mainly on the home screen When opening or in a app.

I just got this tablet 2 days ago. I just can't get it to quit freeziing up.It froze up right after i installed the first update. I emailed the retailer i bought it from and they said to security wipe it. And that would restore it to factory settings and that will fix it. I did the security wipe and set it back up. And it still freezes up. It mainlly freezes in the home screen or if your opening or in a app. It will freeze up when i am online but not nearlly as much.I really like this tablet except the fact it constantly freeze's up.  I have a 7" playbook O/S 16gb PRD-38548-001 Remanufacturer Refurbished.  This is my first blackberry device. Hopefully someone can help me out. Thank you very much.

Is freezing up a common problem with playbooks?
Actually, it's not common. I have three and the have been great devices.
You might consider wiping the device or complete reloading the OS.
You need to follow these instructions to "debrick" your PlayBook:
    1. Do a backup of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software version 7 installed. It can be downloaded from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    2. After the backup is finished, unplug the PlayBook and on the PlayBook press and hold down the power button until the unit forces the device off.
    3. With the Desktop Software still open on your computer and the PlayBook powered off, connect the PlayBook to your computer once again.
    4. You should see an error screen from Desktop Software popup with the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
Very quickly choose the Update option.
    5. All information will on your PlayBook will be erased and a reload of the Software will commence to install on the PlayBook.
    6. Once this is complete your PlayBook will go back through the initial (as if new) setup wizard (entering the BlackBerryID, etc., and then you can perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your personal data from the backup. Applications which you downloaded from AppWorld won't restore, but they can be easily reinstalled using AppWorld > MyWorld section of AppWorld.
