Home share error

how to get apple id for home share with no credit card ??

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Are you sure homesharing is switched on in the iTunes advanced menu, are you using the same ID and password and not your iTunes store ID (unless they are the same)

OK, I just got off of the phone with Apple and still no joy. They had me try a few things that did not work, then told me to Archive and Install, which did not either. Anyway, thanks for the additional help very note worthy, but still no joy. Also an email to iTunes Support took me here

I have a Users/Shared folder but since the files we are talking about are invisible, I can see how it is structured.
And by the way I tried this one
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3577004#3577004
and it did not work. However, when I install a fresh copy of Tiger on the external it did authorize the computer and was able to play the downloads. But coping the invisible file to my boot drive was not successful. But , like I said the music did play when I started up from the external. So I guess that may be my only solution, unless someone can tell what the correct directory is and where it for iTunes downloads.

  • Error code 310 when I try to acces iTunes store or activate Home Share.

I have been trying to set up Home Share on my computer and I keep gettinto and error message that pops up and says "Error Code 310 please try again later" This has been going on for weeks and I just now noticed that the same error code happens why I try to login and make a purchase in iTunes. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This is probably due to a connection error.
I fixed this by navigating this route:
Control Centre > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Connections Tab > LAN Settings > Untick proxy server box (if ticked).
    Hope this solved your problem!

  • I have a very similar problem (5506) in that I changed my appleID loginid and now none of my home shares work. All itunes have been re-authorized/authenticated with the new appleID string. Yet I still receive this error. I too am looking for suggestions.

If you no longer have the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store,  deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)  and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

  • Error 3259 when attempting to home share

    this is driving me nuts
a couple of days ago, my Apple TV ceased to connect successfuly to my itunes library - even though it could see the server.
Now, it can't see the server.  I have tried restarting home share to no avail. I have tried rebooting the PC, I have tried rebooting the wireless router. I have even disabled my windows firewall, but still doesn't work.  iTunes store can be accessed and used without any problems so this is localised purely to homeshare.
    help!

That's suggesting issues with the Bonjour service.
Is the firewall on the router allowing Bonjour traffic through the network?

  • Home share no longer works on iPad after ios5 update.

The home share icon is visible in video application but clicking on movies I have purchased results in an error message - cannot open. The images and info for movies and tv shows also not displayed. ...The problem has now worsened. Pressing the moeshare button to access the itunes library on my macbook progresses to half way and then stops. I have rebooted the ipad, shut down icloud, restarted home share from itunes and even rebooted the wireless router. I have also tried deactivating sinc over wi-fi. None of this work. It is worth noting that home share works on appleTV and that I have not updated appleTV OS for a few months. The next thing to try would be to reboot my macbook that I am not hopeful will achieve anything. I am just letting anyone who is experiencing the same problem know that they are not alone.

Update: After rebooting my macbook - Moves now playing. TV shows bought using a different apple ID account still does not work even though they did before.

  • Can See Home Share but cannot See Music

I have 3 computers that are all authorized and have home share running Windows XP. Currently my method of sharing music is using a windows share, but wanted to give home share a try. Comp1 is my master, Comp2 can see the home share, view, and copy just fine. Comp3 can see the home share but within a couple of seconds of clicking the home share it goes back to it's own music library with no error. If I access the same library(windows share) through the home share from Comp3 but going through Comp2 instead this works. I can also mount all the songs on Comp3 and see them from home share on Comp1. I can create a small library on Comp1 and this can be accessed through home share on Comp3. Anybody have a clue to why the full library cannot be accessed directly from Comp3 on Comp1?

I had this problem and after trying several suggested solutions, came up with the one that worked for me. My Windows firewall was not the problem, it was the ESET virus software firewall on my XP system. In order to see the shared libraries, I have to turn it off. After playing music, I need to turn it back on. Hope this helps!

  • Upgraded to 10.9 and OS X Server 3.0.1, users cannot connect to home shares

Hello.  I recenlty upgraded from Lion Server to Mavericks and Server OS X and users are now unable to access their home shares.  When one attempts to afp to the server after connecting to my uni's VPN, the login box simply shakes and no connection is made.
Running Mac Mini with 10.9 and OS X Server 3.0.1 with home shares located on a Pegasus RAID array that worked fine under Lion Server.  The upgrade seemed to go smoothly, as all accounts were intact and the settings were identical to the functional Lion Server settings.  I have combed these forums trying to find a response that actually works for me, but was unable to locate a match that resulted in a working solution.
Here is a sample log when attempting to login:

When I first upgraded, I was able to connect via PC but not Mac (10.9) clients, so I tried creating a new account to attempt to ferret out the problem.  When I created a new account in the Server.app connecting to an existing home share, I was still unable to connect to it remotely--Server.app threw the "Cannot authenticate connection..." error and closed.  I then attempted to create a new user and new home share directory in Workgroup Manager and received an error stating the home directory could not be created (I forgot the actual verbiage, but I will replicate and post if needed).  I tried simply adding the folder to the home shares folder, but I was still unable to connect via afp or smb.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, as I need to resolve this issue ASAP.  Please let me know if any other information would be useful to diagnosing this issue.
    Thanks!

I have the same problem although I upgraded from Lion Server to Mountain Lion Server. The error appears to go hand in hand with this error.
userInit: CFPreferences: user home directory for user kCFPreferencesCurrentUser at /Network/Servers/fullyqualifieddomainname/Users/user is unavailable. User domains will be volatile.
I've read a number of things to try. A lot of people point to DNS being a problem, but I'm confident this is correct in my environment.

  • Home share am I being totally dumb???

I am trying to get home share to work between my mac and my wife's mac. I entered my username and password into itunes menu>advance>turn on home share, my mac and then following the instruction tried to enter the same info onto my wife's mac in itunes menu>advance>turn on home share. Thats what it say's to do and guess what all it produces is the expected error message 'entered wrong user name or password'. I can enter her info onto her itunes menu>advance>turn on home share. So I am obviously doing something wrong and/or being totally dumb about this. I have read the various help guides and followed all the suggestions but cannot find a way round this problem, can any one help?

Please don't reply to this I was being dumb and not entering the right username!

  • ITunes 9 Home Sharing Error (-42408)

I have a MacBook Pro 17" 2.16GHz, Core Duo, Snow Leapord, iTunes 9.2 that I am trying to turn on Home Sharing.
Although I can authorize the MBP, when I try to activate Home Sharing, I get an iTunes Store error (-42408).
I NEED to use iTunes 9 because it is the last version of iTunes that will display non-square podcast imbeded images properly - full screen without letterboxing to a square display.
The reason I need Home Sharing turned on is so I can play videos residing on the MBP on an iPad v1 iOS5.
Can anyone tell me why I am getting this error and what (if anything) I can do to get Home Sharing turned on?
    TIA

OK, I think I just found a clue to my problem.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4557
Seems that at this time, I need iTunes 10.2 to Home Share with iOS 5+ devices, even though it is an available option in iTunes 9.2, it no longer works with the iTunes Store.
    Sigh....
