To downgrade, you'll need to download the previous software version here: ATV3 http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-4361.20120605.grjot/AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830 _Restore.ipsw
    ATV2: http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-4362.20120605.t8i4U/AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830 _Restore.ipsw
Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again.

  • My iPad doesn't connect to my home WiFi; but my Toshiba Laptop does?

can any one help with my WiFi problem. My iPad doesn't connect to my home WiFi; but my Toshiba Laptop does? and my iPad works in other places but not at home????

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Home sharing between windows 7 laptop and iPad not working

I have looked everywhere for an answer but haven't been able to come up with a solution yet.
So my problem is that I had to get my Samsung laptop (Win7) rebooted after a virus. Before doing so, I connected by iPad by USB to transfer my music. I couldn't use home sharing because my Win7 laptop was infected with a virus that wouldn't let me access the internet.
After the reboot, I connected home sharing to try and retrieve my music on my main computer.
I am very familiar with home sharing and have used it previously with other computers.
My iPad recognizes my laptop and I am able to access the library through my iPad; but on my laptop, the ipad doesn't show up on home sharing.
I cannot transfer back my music via USB either, it treats it like an iPod and won't let me put it back.
I have restarted EVERYTHING, restarted both devices, and relogged in - and no luck.
My laptop is my main computer and I'm dying to get my music back on it!
Does anyone have any solution to this problem?
Especially if I don't have to download something

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It isn't homesharing that allows iTunes on your PC to see your iPad when connected. You will likely get better answers to your questions in the iTunes for windows community.

  • Home Sharing/Apple Remote app issue on desktop

Alright so I'm a little confused. Less than a year ago I was able to use Home Sharing and the Apple Remote app on both my desktop [wired] and laptop [wireless]. Within the last few months, Home Sharing worked on the laptop and I was even able to use the Remote app on it as well, but the desktop is unresponsive in both areas. I have the most current version of iTunes on both computers [10.4.1.10]. The iPod plugs in and syncs fine I just want the **** Remote app to work again. Any and all help would be appreciated and I will give you any more info you need.

    13. Mysteriously, for no apparent reason, Home Sharing and the Remote will start working again at some point.
I'm having this issue as well and it's extremely frustrating. Everything worked fine before I got my Apple TV a few days ago and turned on home sharing as part of the setup. Ever since then I've had these bizarre intermittent issues where my remote app can't see my iTunes library. It will work fine, then stop working, then 10 minutes later it will randomly start working again. I can't determine any kind of pattern as to what's happening, but it definitely has something to do with either my Apple TV or home sharing because my previous setup worked flawlessly for months before I started using ATV and home sharing.
I would love to see an acknowledgment of this problem by Apple and an indication that a fix is on the way. The frustration comes from not knowing what on earth is going on and if there is anything I can do to fix it.

Have done both suggestions, still not working. Could it have somehting to do with my local network? I am using a wireless Internet provided by my apartment building so not sure if apple tv and my computer are not technically on the same "local network?"
apple tv and main computer are connecting to Internet fine. Just cannot see my itunes on apple tv.
any other advice? My itunes is turned on to home sharing. i entered the same apple itunes account into aple tv. but appletv keeps saying my computer's home sharing is not turned on...but it is.

  • Can i put music on another library after home sharing from my new laptop?

I used home sharing to share the music, but i want to be able to add music on the other library from my new laptop
Is there a way to do this?

    Hello shrutisk1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
You can use Home Sharing to transfer the music to other computers by following the directions below.
Home Sharing is an easy way to keep all your iTunes libraries in sync across multiple computers at your house. For more information on Home Sharing and syncing your library between two computers, read iTunes: Understanding Home Sharing.
Note: This option allows you to share music between multiple computers if you continue to use both, but it doesn't create a lasting backup. To create a lasting backup, use an external drive or CDs or DVDs.
    Home Sharing requires
    iTunes 9 or later.
An Apple ID that is also an iTunes or App Store Account. If you need to, you can create an iTunes or App Store account without a credit card.
    An active Internet connection.
A Local Area Network connection (Ethernet or Wi-Fi), such as one created by a router.
Follow the steps below to use Home Sharing to copy your music between your old computer which has the music on it already, and a new computer.
Be sure iTunes 9 or later is installed on both computers.
    Open iTunes on both computers.
    On your old computer:
If Home Sharing is already enabled, iTunes 11 or later displays the option to Turn Off Home Sharing (Account) under the File > Devices menu. If this is the case, proceed to step 7. Otherwise, choose:
iTunes 11 or later: File > Devices > Turn On Home Sharing from the menu bar.
iTunes 9 or 10: Advanced > Turn On Home Sharing from the menu bar.
Select the Home Sharing icon on the left side of iTunes from where you select music, movies, or TV shows.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Create Home Share.
    On your new computer:
Click the Store menu and choose Authorize computer. Enter your Apple ID and password (that was listed in the Advanced menu in step three or used in step 5).
Choose Advanced > Turn On Home Sharing from the menu bar.
Select the Home Sharing icon on the left side of iTunes.
Note: Once Home Sharing is enabled, the Home Sharing option disappears from the left side of iTunes until a Home Share library is found from another computer.
Once your new computer sees the Home Share from your old computer, click that Home Share on the left side of iTunes on your new computer.
Select the content in the Home Share that you want to transfer to your iTunes library on your new computer, or choose Edit > Select All to choose all of it. Then, click the Import button in the bottom-right corner of iTunes.
Wait for the content to finish transferring.

  • Home sharing / Apple TV icon has disappeared from all my apple devices

Two days ago I could go to my shared MacBook through the Apple TV or Throw up a video or music onto the TV from my iPhone or iPad. Last two days... No icon on any device, no home sharing info on the TV, despite every combination of reset and restore. There haven't been any upgrades or even changes to network. Help please?

Is the ATV and iPad connected to the same network?
Have both devices and the router been restarted?

  • How can I un-share media categories using Home Sharing & Apple TV?

I just got an Apple TV device, which is working wonderfully so far.
I would like to only share the category MOVIES with my Apple TV, and disable my music, home movies, podcasts, etc. I am having difficulty seeing how to change this preference.
I see in the iTunes/Preferences/Sharing there is a way to limit what portions of the library can be shared, but I do not see a similar preference for limiting what is shared in Home Sharing.
Is what I want to do possible? Thanks in advance. C

Thank you. I wasn't able to locate the symbol. I have read some other community responses to others and finally figured out how to access it. Hopefully it will solve my problem.nthank you for your assistance...

  • HT202213 can you transfer a movie rental via home sharing from pc to laptop?

I rented a HD movie to put on my iPod to then watch on my TV through my component cable, however when I tried to transfer th rental onto my iPod I got an error message saying the movie could not be moved, this could be due to my iPod software being outdated by the movie formatting, as my iPod is 3rd generation touch. I want to know if I can transfer my movie rental from my PC to my laptop, so I can watch it on there instead?

No. You cannot import music to an iDevice using Home Sharing. You sync music the iPad and you can only sync with one iTunes library.

  • Home Sharing/Apple Remote Suddenly Stops

I have been having this problem for as long as Home Sharing and the Apple Remote for iPhone has been available. I am throwing out to see if someone can help. Here's the background.
    1. One day Home Sharing (iTunes 10.0.1 but also in iTunes 9.x) works, and then a few days later, it will not work. A few days later, it works again.
    2. When Home Sharing stops, I get the messages about Firewall settings, but I have made no changes to any settings. I am using 10.6.4. I have tried turning off the Firewall and restarting the computer, but that did not work. I currently have the Firewall on and it is set to allow incoming connections to iTunes.
    3. When Home Sharing stops, Apple Remote on my iPhone also no longer connects to iTunes.
    4. 2 iPhones can still connect to my other computer running Tiger. It is always the Snow Leopard computer that has the connection issue.
    5. My IPv4 addresses did not change on any device.
    6. I have IPv6 turned to Off.
    7. All my devices are running on the same WiFi network. No other connections are effected, and the iPhones connect to the Tiger computer with no problem.
    8. I have tried uninstalling iTunes, and removed all iTunes related files as outlined on the Apple support page. After a fresh install, Home Sharing still did not work.
    9. I have tried uninstalling the Apple Remote App on my iPhone, but it did not work.
    10. When Home Sharing Stops, no iPhones can be paired to iTunes to be able to use Remote.
    11. I have tried renaming my iTunes library.
    12. Restarting the computer does not change anything.
    13. I have not changed any network settings.
    13. Mysteriously, for no apparent reason, Home Sharing and the Remote will start working again at some point.
So there is some sort of connection issue happening that is beyond me. It is only in iTunes on my 10.6.4 computer. Only iTunes is affected. Time Capsule is backing up. All other connections to the internet work fine. Sync is never interrupted.
I believe someone out there has the answer! Genius, help me!
Thanks in advance for reading and any help that can be offered.

  • Set up home sharing on PC and laptop but it is not showing the owner's library on laptop - on PC it has nothing in it? Has everything in the library above.

I have done everything it says to do however nothing is showing up on my laptop.  It says Miss Kidds library which is the name of my user on the PC so I know it has recognised it.  On my PC it doesnt have anything in the owners library under the shared box, not sure if this has anything to do with it? I have tried copying and pasting from my library to it and nothing has worked.
