Home Sharing Browsing Speed?

I regularly use Home Sharing on many of my Apple devices (Apple TVs, iPhones, iPads, etc.) to browse content stored on my iMac. The iTunes collection on my iMac is very large (terrabytes of movies and TV shows). Whenever I browse to it, via the Videos app for instance on the iPad, it takes quite a while to make the initial load of the collection... several minutes. (Okay, it's a huge collection, so I get that...).
But if I use the remote app, it loads the content much quicker (even though that app won't let me directly view it, it's just browsing the collection on the iMac). Whenever I browse content from my Apple TV over Home Sharing, it's much faster as well. On the tech side, my iPad is much more advanced than my Apple TV (it's a second generation with an A4 chip versus the A5X in my iPad). So what gives? It seems to be an iOS issue, but I don't think it's a hardware limitation or due to the size of the library since the Apple TV reads it very fast. Has anybody else experienced this?

Which hub do you have?

have you tried changing the channel in case it is conflicting with a neighbour?

  • Home Sharing - Can See Computer on Apple TV but Cannot Browse

I have a Macbook Air (2011) and Apple TV (2nd generation) and I have successfully set up home sharing. I have the ability to select the Apple TV from iTunes on my Macbook Air and use it to play music/movies. However, when trying to browse the computer from the Apple TV, it attempts to connect and then fails with a generic error message about not being able to reach the compuer. However, I have the computer on, iTunes open, and am listening to music. I even tried it without music to no avail.

I think I've isolated the problem. The shared videos that are missing from the ipad mini "Videos" app are 1080p. I thought the ipad mini could play 1080p, or at least downcode to somthing it could display.
    Maybe it can't.

  • Apple TV, browsing music on home sharing, music stored externally

I wonder if anyone can advise...
I recently bought a Seagate Central wifi external harddrive, 3TB. Besides using it as a remote backup disk, one of the main reasons behind it was combining music collections on my iMac and my wife's MacBook Pro. Advantages being we can listen to each other's music without having to have both computers on at the same time. Also, I'd like to use my new Apple TV to access my music via home sharing settings.
So I have combined our music files onto the Seagate. I have changed the iTunes Music folder on both computers so that it looks to the Seagate for all the media. I have then "re-imported" the songs into iTunes from there.
Running iTunes from the computers, this works 100% Ok, even sending via Airplay to Apple TV. The problems come when browsing through using the Apple TV home sharing on My Computers. The Apple TV sees all the albums and tracks as you would expect. But if you play a track it comes up with a message "there is no content".
The strange part is that if I go to the computer and play the track once, when I go back to Apple TV it will them recognise it and be able to play it!
I am trying to find a solution that doesn't involve me clicking through every track of my music collection! Any ideas?

    That seems strange.
Have you changed the itunes media folder location to the external drive?
    iTunes > Preferences >
Try changing to location to the external hard drive.. so your itunes music gets saved there
Also I'm not sure iTunes can work this way..
I've seen someone try to use a timecapsule the same way and it required them to manually connect to the drive in the finder, before being able to play their music.
Is there a password required when connecting to the drive?

  • Home Sharing - ever going to be fixed?

I seem to be having progressively more trouble with Home Sharing; for something that should work so simply, it fails much too regularly.
My iTunes library is hosted from an always on machine wired directly into the main network router (Draytek Vigor 2830n). Two iPhones, an iPad and an Apple TV access it wirelessly. (The iPhones & iPad acces directly through the Draytek's built in wireless n broadcast; the Apple TV had trouble with this, so I have an alternative B/G access point connected for devices incapable of Wireless N).
The first problem is the speed - when I select the library it takes a very long time (I'm talking 3+ minutes) before I can browse the shared library, and then thumbnails take an age to load. Once loaded, however, music/video can be started streaming very quickly.
The next issue is the way media is arranged (particularly video) within the Home Sharing environment. TV Shows are arranged by Season rather than by show, and I can find no way to change this. Everything is just called 'Season 1', 'Season 2' etc; so the only way to choose what to watch is to wait for the thumbnails to load.
Then there is the problem when trying to watch a video in iTunes running on a different computer. While SD streams reasonably (still slow to load), the moment you try to watch an HD film, you get the audio track with a string of still frames that change periodically like a slideshow. This despite both PCs being wired directly into the Draytek on Gigabit connections.
And then, of course, there's the fact that Home Sharing just stops working altogether for no apparent reason - almost every day. Just about every time you come to use it, you have to restart the device, close & reopen iTunes, turn off HS and back on again and reboot your PC. Any or all of these can be absolutely necessary just to get to watch a single movie /TV episode, or to put some music on. Yet AirPlay is often unaffected (although not always).
So come on, Apple. I bought an Apple TV to make use of this wonderful idea and save myself £100s on building HTPCs. I've also invested hours & hours converting my media library to MP4 (M4V) , but so far I'm seriously underwhemled.
Unless, of course, anybody has any solutions?

  • Home sharing not working in iOS 6

Using ipad 3. I've tried everything including rebooting and resetting my settings and Apple ID. Cannot get it to work, it recognizes that a home shared library is available but will not download it, get "cannot turn on home sharing" in music and just stalls with a 2/3 shadowed circle in videos. Yet, all works fine on the iPhone 4's, iPad 2 and iPad 1 on same wifi network.
I've had no problem to my knowledge with wifi.
There are a few other issues too, but I'm hoping Apple will have a quick solution for all???

    Mate,
I have more or less the same problem. Trouble is I updated both my iPhone 4 and the iPad 3 to IOS 6 (wish I'd only done one of them). Basically, both initially had trouble getting into the home sharing on my iTunes. Seems to work after a couple of goes or killing the music app and relaunching. But doing some strange things once running. Same as you, the artists tab is not correct, it pulls a few of them in but I'd say 90% are missing! Playlists and songs seem ok. iPad 3 prob behaves worse than the iPhone 4, sometimes you see the music tracks when in a playlist changing at the top like (hard to explain) but killing the music app and relaunching tends to fix this.
And don't get me started on the videos home sharing. So hit and miss with the album artwork, sometimes they show correctly but often there are lots of incorrect ones and random stuff shown. In my TV shows shared library it even came up on the iPad with album artwork for some of my songs. Bizarre.
So I think IOS 6 has made a bit of a mess of home sharing. Going in the opposite direction and using the 'remote app' to browse my iTunes library seems to display normally.
Bit dissapointed with IOS 6. No more streetview in maps, erratic home sharing. Seems more of a downgrade than an upgrade to me. I know Apple are very big on new features etc but I'd rather see them trying to fix the bugs on their exisiting features than doing this. I mean did we really need an IOS 6? IOS 5 seemed to be ticking along ok, bugs still existed so why not focus on these.
    Cheers
    Wayne

  • Problem with Home Sharing.  Getting the error "The Requested URL was not Found on this Server"

I recently purchased an iPhone 5.  As I do with all of my AppleTVs, iPads, iPods and an iPhone 4 in my home, I connected the 5 to my home network and accessed the shared video library using home sharing.  My iTunes library is roughly 85% iTunes purchases, a handful of videos taken with iOS devices, and some video ripped with Handbrake.  All of these videos work fine on all devices in my home except my new iPhone 5.  When I access the shared video library on my iPhone 5, all of the textual data for all of the videos appears, however, I can only get the iPhone to play 1 video of the dozens in my iTunes library. When I try to play any other, I get the error, "The Requested URL was not Found on this Server."
Interestingly, only one video in my entire shared library displays the artwork associated with it in my iTunes library on my iPhone 5, and that's the one I can stream without a problem. Even more interestingly, that video I am able to stream was ripped using Handbrake (there are a number in my library ripped using Handbrake, but just this one will stream to my iPhone 5 for some reason).
I'm using the latest version of iTunes (10.7) on my home (iMac) computer (running OSX 10.8.2- Mountain Lion)and of course iOS 6 on the iPhone 5. I've tried resetting my iPhone several times as well as restarting my iMac which holds my iTunes library.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?

Can you see if you can view index page from a browser on iPhone.
Have you seen live streams working from a different computer...
if not then check if a proper crossdomain.xml file in its place(webroot folder).

  • Home Sharing Is Not Working

I have my home sharing connected to another account on my iMac, but I can't transfer my music from one account to the other. The music appears but it won't go in to the other account's library when I drag and drop it.

I found  a similar issue when trying to copy purchased music or TV shows between an iMac and a MacBookPro using an ethernet cable connection for speed and wifi turned off. Kept throwing up an error message. Finally turned wifi back on on both machines and the transfer worked at ethernet speeds. I don't know if this is right but it seemed like the machines had to get authorisation from the Apple Store to work.
Again don't know if this will help you but hoping it does

  • Home sharing apps - one computer with multiple accounts & itunes libraries

Hi, Three family members (mom, dad & daughter) now have iphones. We have a single imac and each has his/her own account on the imac and his/her own itunes library.
Is there a way to share apps or sync apps from different itunes libraries with each other on the same computer in the same family? Can we do it without sharing itunes login information?
And, does Home Sharing work for apps?
    Thanks.

If you want a truly global accessible iTunes music folder to share on a Win 7 multi user account setup then I have found this to be the best way. You may find other methods online, including Apples own method of moving just the media folder but to me its not the best way. The way I configured mine allows all users to access the same iTunes library completely. No need for moving just part of the files, consolidating or duplicating files.
    1.Browser to C:/ users /your_username/
2.Right click on My Music folder and choose properties
3.Select the location tab and choose MOVE
4.Set the new location by browsing to C:/ users / public / public music
5.When asked if you would like to move files choose Yes
6.When asked if you would like to make this the default location choose Yes
    7. Log in to each user account and do the same thing as above
Now when you install or start iTunes on any of the accounts modified as above, iTunes will automatically use the Shared Folder for music, apps, etc.. No need to have duplicate files.

  • How do I get Apple TV home sharing to work again?

    Hi,
I'm using an iMac, I have Apple TV 2, a Bt home hub 3, between 30-50mb speed over wifi (160mb when my mac is wired). I have followed all the set up instructions, up to date software, firewall etc. On the Apple TV I can watch a movie through it's iTunes no problem, BUT when I try via home sharing it works for a few minutes then tells me to connect to the network, then connects again a few seconds later, then I try again and it does the same thing despite every other wifi device working fine ( humax, ps3, wii). Until about 4/5 months ago it worked perfectly with exactly the same hardware, so surely it can only be the updates? Is there a solution out there or do I have to wait until Apple pull their bloody finger out and fix it properly? The main reason for having Apple TV was the home sharing, so now this is just an expensive doorstop.
    Any help would be great
    Thanks

Have you tried a PRAM reset?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
If you look in the audio output port, is there a red light showing.  If so, the internal switch is stuck..  Insert the headphones a few times, jiggle a toothpick inside or shot some compressed air to trip the switch.  If no success, have the Apple store genius bar technician do it.
    Ciao.

  • Home sharing sooooo unreliable to be unusable - will it ever be fixed?

I bought an Apple-TV-3 six months ago and decided to migrate ALL my video media to apple m4v format to use via home sharing. To this end I spent a few months developing a PC app ConvertApple to automatically re-encode/remux and tag (using moviedv/tvdb) with full metadata all my videos with no user interaction needed. It's an awesome app if I say it myself, as all other similar programs require you to waste endless amounts of your own time, whereas this program works it all out automatically. I had planned to release it a month ago but owing to home-sharing's unreliability can no longer justify doing so. I had also bought a second apple-tv, but unfortunately between the latest ATV updates and itunes, home sharing has become sooo unreliable that it is no longer usable. I sat down tonight with my family to watch a film but the circle of death when trying to play a movie returned. How embarrasing. I flicked to my windows MCE box I had hoped to replace by ATV and watched it from there.
As a developer with 30 years experience, there's little I cannot get a computer to do, but I can categorically say that although home sharing works sometimes, it is sooo flakey that it is just not a viable 24/7 solution for the home. It may work for a day or two but soon the circle of death appears and you cannot play anything, Restarting itunes, usually brings it back up, but not always. It is connected to an always-on PC, with neither apple TV's set to sleep, both on static IP's and STILL the problem persists. I also run a Upnp server TVersity on the same box, that works flawlessly, but alas until a jailbreak for ATV3 comes out allowing me to run a proper upnp client I may as well bin the Apple-tv's that have wasted months of my time on a fools errand.
I am bitterly disappointed as the only reason I went down the Apple route in the first place as I trusted their reliablility and am shocked at just how appauling their home-sharing system has become. I am planning to sell the ATV's on ebay soon and purchase Google-tv's instead and I guess rename my app ConvertGoogle! The ATV+homesharing system seemed rock solid back in April but is now unusable. I've read 100's of posts from other users alluding to this issue and get the impression apple are in denial with no plans to fix it so if you're thinking of buying an Apple-TV DON'T!
Anyone who "think's" they have a working home-sharing system, wait a few days! I doubt an uptime of > 3 days can be achived. I also fail to understand why it is sooooo slow connecting, especially from iphones. My upnp clients connect instantly + most modern TV's have upnp built in. iTunes homesharing is clearly a very badly written proprietary system and should be junked and replaced with a standard upnp client (and server), then at least apple-tv's would be usable. As a primarly msoft developer since the 80's I always (jokingly) slated Apple, but bought into them with iPhone4 and now own 2 iphones, 1 ipad and 2 atv's, but I am now considering migrating to Google kit due to Apple's unreliability. I will never buy another Apple product as I just don't trust them to be reliable anymore. STuff works but only when it feels like it. I cannot live with hardware like that!

My current status is having restarted iTunes, I can browse my library from ATV, but as soon as I click play it just sits there circling-of-death indefinately - pathetic!
Scrap Home-Sharing it's total garbage technology and implement a standard uPnp server in itunes or at LEAST add a upnp client for ATV3 we can use eg AirPlayer = works solidly on my ipad/iphone etc. Whatever happened to the ATV SDK being opened up mooted months ago?
I'll get a google-tv of Amazon this w/end and see how I fare with that. I'd live to have used ATV3's but they DO NOT work, so I can't. Oh and why on IOS6 on iphone does the remote app just close itself every now and then?
Apple need to fix things for their existing customers, rather than focus on new features to attract new ones, or they will end up having no customers five years from now!

  • "Home Sharing? No Home Sharing."

Home Sharing is not working for me. After reading through these discussions, I'd say there's a chance it's not working for you either.
What I've done for us, here, is compile a list of helpful trouble-shooting tips that I've copied and pasted from other users. Sadly, none of them have worked for me, but perhaps someone will come along and add that one item to the list that will solve my problem. I hope it helps you, and I will certainly report back when I get my problem resolved.
As a reminder, this list is for folks who've already exhausted the obvious resources - like the Apple TV support page etc. - to no avail.
My scenario: (it probably reads similar to yours, so you can skip this part if you want)Purchased the Apple TV last weekend. Setup was easy, connection to my itunes account and network was easy. My wife and I both have iphone 4s, and both can see the Apple TV and I can "airplay" from our iphones to the Apple TV. I have two PCs, both running Windows 7. One houses my primary media library. Neither one of them can "see" the Apple TV, nor can the Apple TV "see" either of those libraries. I spent about an hour and a half with Tech Support. My issue was escalated to "the engineers" and I am currently waiting on a response. I've tried each of the below strategies, but no dice. I am absolutely convinced that the trouble is with Windows 7 and the itunes/quicktime/bonjour Apple Software Package.
    Troubleshooting Ideas/Tips:
    1. "...Then, last night I was trying to get it setup and working and when faced with the same issue I started digging around my Network Settings and changed "Configure IPv6" from "Off" to "Automatically" and like magic, instantly my iTunes Home Sharing showed up on the Apple TV."
    2. "...So I had to go into the firewall advanced security and tell Windows to allow iTunes to send and receive data."
    3. "Ok, I forgot one thing. In the homegroup settings I had to tell it to allow steaming with other devices on the network. this was in the Control Panel, Homegroup. After I saved the update I had to wait for a while till it processed the information before it became available. Hope this helps."
    4. "I remember having a similar problem, it turn out to be a problem with apples BONJOUR service, had to uninstall Bonjour and reinstall it, then turn Home Sharing back on to get it working."
    5. "...Anyway, after setting Norton to allow access to iTunes’ support program, called “Bonjour”, I now enjoy rock-solid Home Sharing performance. If you use Norton, open it, go to "settings", then "miscellaneous settings", then "program exclusions" (hard to find), then use the browser that pops up to find “Bonjour’s” executable program at C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe. Click "Apply", then "OK", then exit. Restart iTunes, and Home Sharing from that computer should work."
    6. "Check Firewall Settings
If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure that the firewall is not blocking communication between your computers. Home Sharing uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 to communicate with other copies of iTunes.
For Mac OS X 10.5 or later, you don't have to edit the port addresses, but make sure the firewall in Apple () menu > System Preferences > Security > Firewall are not set to:
    * Block all incoming connections
    * Allow only essential services
If you use another operating system, firewall software, or hardware, check the documentation on how to open TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353."
    7. "Enabling the photo sharing on one folder did the trick for me. Prior to that I upgraded to iTunes 10.1, disabled and re-enabled home sharing on the PC and the ATV2 and rebooted both."
    8. "Okay, i have had the same issue as many here: updated iTunes, sharing working on iPad and iPhone, but nothing on the appletv. Here's what fixed it for me: 1 open iTunes and confirm sharing settings in preferences. 2. Go back to the iTunes main panel and look for "shared" region of the left toolbar (where it has library, store, shared, and genius headings. For me, i had to click on shared, select "show" from the right of it, and then found a sub-item. I clicked on that, and had to input my password one more time, and finally confirmed I wanted sharing on. After that, the library showed up just fine."
    9. "iPhoto source under iTunes Advanced Menu -> Chose Photos to Share. Once I selected the iPhoto option then it worked."
    10. "...believe I have solved the problem and the problem was in my third party Virus Barrier which blocked internal addresses that demonstrated high activity. The problem was the ATV sending a "flood" of requests to download the library and the Virus Barrier software blocked the address as an intruder. I removed the 192.168.100.xxx address from the virus barrier "connection flood" blocked address, and all works just fine. Hope this solution pertains to others."
    11. "If I open iTunes and enable Home Sharing and authenticate, then "Home Sharing" appears in the Shared section of the left hand pane (same pane that lists Devices, Playlists, etc. If I then click "Done" on the main screen view this "Home Sharing" listing disappears and I can't see the library on the ATV2.
However, if I don't click "Done" and carry one then all's well. I can move around iTunes and do all the normal stuff but as long as I don't close that Home Sharing screen view it works fine."
    12. "Problem solved. Go to iTunes preferences, and under "devices", uncheck the "Look for Remote Speakers connected with Airplay." This seems to confuse Apple TV in syncing with your Library, if you don't have Remote Speakers."
    13. "I followed the advice of posts here, and turned "Sleep" to "Never" and the ATV2 has worked without a hitch for the last week."
    14. "I'm posting this in case it's of use to anyone else. I was unable to get Home Sharing to work at all with my ATV2, I tried all of the suggestions on this thread and others. Eventually I gave up and phoned Apple. Plugging in the ATV straight into my PC solved the problem, but obviously wasn't a usable fix.
Tracked the problem down to my router (Belkin Max). Seems it blocks port 5353 between LAN ports for some strange reason and worse still there's no way to change it. The only solution I could find was to replace the router (luckily at no cost as it was only 3 weeks old) for a linksys router and it all works fine now."
    15. "When I was troubleshooting my ATV2 problem, I turned my firewall completely off. I don't use my Mac's built in firewall. I use NetBarrier X5. NetBarrier also includes functionality called Antivandal. NBX5 allows you to set policies (Buffer Overflow Attacks, Intrusion Attempts, Ping Attacks, Ping Broadcasts, Port Scans and SYN Flooding). I have these policies turned on. When NBX5 detects a policy "violation" it automatically sends the "intruder" to a permanent stop list (at least that is how I have my system configured). Thus, those IP's are permanently blocked. The IP remains blocked even if you turn off the firewall. That was a troubleshooting oversight on my part. I actually ran into the same problem when I was setting up my first ATV a year ago (but I forgot about it - bummer for me). When I checked my stop list, I found two IP addresses that I allow for my home network. Voila."
    16. "I found a fix that was suggested in another thread that seems to have worked for me. If you disable the quality of service (QoS) protocol on your router it seems to connect with no problem."
    - That's it for now. I will try and keep an eye on this post and update when possible. Hopefully, I'll be able to post some good news sometime soon.

Home Sharing is working perfectly fine for me, and I'm quite sure many others. I'm using Windows 7, a Linksys WRT54G router with WPA2 security enabled, and iTunes 10.1.2. It would help if you could answer a few questions:
1- Let's start with the obvious -- what version iTunes are you using? (you need 10.1 but didn't say)
2- Have you enabled Home Sharing on your computer and ATV?
3- What router make and model are you using? I don't know of specific issues here, but others may.
4- Is the ATV hooked up to your router via ethernet, or wireless? If wireless, try ethernet at least temporarily if you can, just to narrow down the problem as it may be a wireless configuration in your router's settings.
5- Using the Remote App on your iPhone, can you control the ATV? Or, can you only stream audio to ATV from your iPhone? If Remote works, can you get to YouTube, Netflix, or the iTunes store and successfully play any content?

  • How do i save the files during home sharing

ok, here goes. i am in now way shape or form a tech boff so i guess all i can do is attempt to expalin my issue..
i have recently gotten a new pc and i am wanting to use the home sharing function to some what transfur my music library from my laptop (where i originally set up my iphone 3gs) to my new pc. so far i have sucessfully set up the home sharing link between the 2 and i am fully able to look at the laptop library from the new pc, however i have no idea how to save the music so i can then re-sync my iphone to the new pc as the laptop is way out of date and struggles with the most basic things.
so, i looked on youtube in an attempt to figure it out and ended up frustrated, there are many mentions of a settings button which should be located at the right hand bottom corner, i dont have that. there is mention of dragging and dropping the files i want from the home sharing into my new pc itunes that doesnt work. i have tried to create a new playlist with the home sharing from the laptop, that doesnt work. so here i am, willing for an answer as to if im doing something wrong or if what im wanting to do isnt possible..
    thank you

    1. Enable Home Sharing on both systems
    2. Open iTunes on both of them
    3. iTunes on the desktop should list your laptop's library by now, if all goes well
    4. Browse your laptops music labrary, select, and click "import" located on the bottom right hand corner.

  • How do I drag and drop files between computers when using Home Sharing in ITunes?

How can I drag music files between computers while using Home Sharing? An older version of ITunes had a Home Sharing icon in the column browser near the playlist so it was easy to drag and drop.

    Hello cacalenni,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you wish to learn how to import songs using Home Sharing in the new iTunes. The following resource should assist you in doing so:

  • I cannot log on to ITunes to set up Home sharing between my new IPAD and AppleTV. Therfe is not even the typical home screen for me to log on to my account at APlle Store or ITunes?

I have a new IPAD and just bought APple TV. Need to set up home sharing on my account and have followed Support options wherein you log into ITunes, choose advanced, then allow Home sharing. There is no place to even sign in to ITunes as i have always seen before. Cannot start ITunes on  Laptop (linked to IPAD) at all but can from Browser. What does "can from browser" mean?
Trying to share content from my IPAD and APple TV.
You don't share content from AppleTV (as it contains no content) and you can AirpPlay from iPad to AppleTV, not share content.
To turn on Home Sharing on the iPad, Settings > Store.
THis allow soyu to view the content of the iTune slibrary on your comnoputer.

  • Apple TV 2, have to switch on/off home sharing to share

Hi I have just got an Apple TV 2 (I already have an Apple TV 1). I use it with my iMac for iTunes home sharing. Everything is updated: iMac Lion v10.7.1, iTunes v10.4, Apple TV 2 v4.3. Th eApple TV 2 is wireless to an Airport Extreme, iMac is wired to it.
Ive set it up and evrything seems to work fine. However when the Apple TV went to sleep, it showed "My Library" under computers, I clicked it, it then showed the list, clicked movies, but it said "no movies are in this library" or something similiar.
I tried with all music, TV shows, Podcasts etc, and nothing. It was connected to network as have full signal. Also can browse You Tube etc. I was stuck. I decided to switch off Home sharing in settings, switched it back on, and tried again and everything was there!?!
I've now had to do this everytime I want to browse my iTunes library. Movies stream fine once connected. Is my Apple TV broken? surely not, its only a week old!?
    please help
    cheers

Seems like there's loads of other threads with same issues, not just on here, but also other forum sites. it looks like its a massive widespread problem.
Really disappointed I thought this would work fine, I have an AEBS, iMac, Apple TV thought they'd work fine.
I've talked to someone who contacted Apple direct via telephone, a Technician, and they basically gave up! they ultimately just said to reboot everything, put everything to factory default, which they did but still no good.
I was hoping this Apple TV 2 would work fine, and I was going to replace my Apple TV 1 with another, as I find I have to switch off my Apple TV 1 due to the heat issue.
