Home Sharing from two different Macs to a Media Center

I am using an old G5 iMac as a Media Center in my basement. I have Home Sharing setup on my daughter's Macbook so that when she buys new music, movies or TV shows they automatically transfer to the Media Center iTunes Library. Is it possible to get my iMac iTunes to do the same thing at the same time? It seems like the Media Center will only Home Share with my daughter's Library and will not let me Home Share my Library. Can anyone tell if it it's possible to have two different accounts / libraries Home Sharing to a central iTunes Library?

The simplest way is for you to select the entire listing in iTunes and drag all the songs out to a folder. This will copy them, not remove them from iTunes. Do the same on the other iTunes.
Transfer the folder over to the new Mac, over a network, or burn them to a DVD.
Now duplicate one of the folders (for safety reasons before proceeding).
Open this duplicate folder. Open the other folder. Select all the tracks in this other folder and drag them to the new folder: When asked if you want to overwrite files of the same name choose 'Skip' and check 'Apply to all'.
This will then move all files over except where there is already a file with that song title. If you have recordings of the same song by more than one artist you will have to sort that out manually.
This done, open iTunes on the new computer, select all the files in the merged folder and drag them to the Music list.

    Morning Saintine,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Home Sharing enables you to stream or transfer music, movies, TV shows, apps, and more among up to five authorized computers in your household. To do so, you will need to Turn on Home Sharing on each computer using the same Apple ID.

  • Can i use home sharing when two different apple accounts are on the same computer?

will home sharing work when two iTunes Libraries are on the same computer?

Can you be more clear about what you mean. More detail please.
Is this the solution you are looking for?
Log in to both user accounts and launch iTunes. Turn on Home Sharing from the 'Advanced' menu at the top of the screen.
Leave iTunes running and use Fast User Switching to switch between user accounts. You will notice that each user's library of media is available to the other user and you can copy media from the other user to the current user's account.

  • Is it possible to edit my website  with web '08 from two different Macs?

Is it possible to work on iWeb on two different MACS?
I've attempted to move my domain.Site folder from my laptop and place it on my Power PC in the iWeb folder, but I continue to receive a familiar error message can't read the Domain.Site.
    Does anyone have any answers?
    Both are running iweb 08'

You could make the file available for download via your public folder and when one user updates it they could change the title to include the date of editing and upload it back to the Public folder and delete the original file. . To do that you'd want to archive (zip) the file (control-click on the file and select "Make archive of file xxxx" so it would upload without problems. Not as convenient but doable. You would just have to make sure to identify the date of editing so there would be no problem.

I was able to do it but now 2 of my PCs are using Yosemite.
I want to move my music from, Macbook, to iPAD, to iPhone to iPOD.
Any help with this will be appreciated
    Thanks

You can't use home sharing to put music on your mobile devices from your iTunes library, you will need to sync them.

  • Home sharing? two different sign on's on same computer

Can you share music from two differents windows log on accounts on the same computer.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Certainly it is. You can use different ID's for iTunes and home sharing.
Just make sure that you are all logged into iTunes with your own ID, but that you use the same ID (doesn't matter who's it is) on all devices when setting up home sharing.

  • How do I set up Home Sharing between two different libraries / users on the same computer?

I am transferring my library to a new computer and want to share it with my partner who has her own sign-on and iTunes library on the same PC.  Does Home Sharing work in this situation?  And how do I just transfer individual albums or playlists from my library to hers?

I'm not sure this is possible.
It would be far simpler if they are on the same computer to put the files into your dropbox (or whatever it is called on a PC and simply drag and drop them into your library.

  • Merging iPhotos from two different Macs

This is probably not a new problem. We have two family computers and we download our photos on either one. I would like to create a master library and then store it somewhere for safekeeping. (Too many natural disasters in Texas!)
First, how should I consolidate all my photos (must be 70-80K) into one library
Second, where should I store it?
Third, how can I avoid this in the future?
    okay, thanks!!

to merge libraries you use Aperture or the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager
where to store them - where ever you please as long as the hard drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) - Personally I believe you need at least two copies in different locations for safety
How can you avoid this in the future? do all of your photos work on one computer
Next year with the new photos app and with iCloud library there probably will be a better solution - but until the software is released no one will know exactly what it will have or exactly how it will work

  • Merging two iPhoto Libraries from two different MACs

Can I blend together two iPhoto libraries? I have a library on another MAC and would love to move it to my laptop merging with the existing iPhoto. How I can do that? I just afraid to overwrite the original library.

You need iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to merge iPhoto libraries
I recommend merging both libraries into a new library so if some problem occurs you do not mess up either original library - this of course requires adequate disk space for all three libraries

  • How do I Combine libraries from two different Macs?

I have an extensive iPhoto library on old G4. I also have a small library on MacBook Pro with iPhone pics and such. I'm trying to move away from the G4 and only use the MacBook. I've not been able to figure out a way to simply combine the old library into the new library.
I've copied the iPhoto Library folder over to MacBook. Any easy way to do this? I don't want to give up all the organization from old library.
    TIA

  • Can home sharing be used from two different homes?

I was wondering if you connect Home Sharing from two different homes is it possibly to share the music?

The primary constraint is that Home Sharing uses the same wifi network for sharing/streaming between computers/devices. So if the wifi network stretches across multiple houses, it should be possible. But if the houses are on different wifi networks, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

  • Setting Up a New Mac From Two Different Time Machine Back-ups?

    Greetings Apple People,
I am planning on getting a new iMac. Right now my wife I are still using our separate MacBooks from college. Both of them have Time Machine back-ups. We would like to setup our new iMac to have two different users. Is it possible to setup each of the users on the new iMac from our respective Time Machine back-ups?
I know you can do this seamlessly with one Time Machine back-up, but can you do it from two different back-ups, essentially merging the two, while keeping the separate user profiles?
    Thanks!

Follow the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide using one computer as the source on first boot. Then, hook up the second computer and use the Migration Assistant to transfer the second user account and nothing else. Don't use the TM backup because it's much slower doing it that way than directly from each machine.

  • Home Sharing from Mac to iPad vs. Mac to AppleTV 2

Some odd quirks about Home Sharing from a Mac to the iPad, vs. from a Mac to AppleTV 2.
I'm seeing duplicates of some of my TV Seasons on the iPad (like, 3 identical icons that claim to be the same Season 2 of a series-the contents are identical). Meanwhile, some TV seasons don't show up at all.
Also, episodes seem once again out of order; this was an issue originally with AppleTV 2, which I fixed by adding both track numbers and season episode numbers.
All my content looks great in AppleTV 2 now-on the iPad..not so much I know the content all plays fine on all 3 devices, so it's not a format issue I don't think. Curious if anyone else is seeing some odd Home Sharing contents on their iPads/iPhones as well.

I am seeing an issue as well. It seems that when using Home Share on my iPad, that the directory listing of for example my TV shows is not complete. What I am seeing is that it only displays a subset of the entire catalog of TV shows in my iTunes Library. I notices that from A through S shows were present but nothing thereafter. So I changed the names of the TV Shows to start with an A for example and they did show up but then several shows dropped off the end of the listing. I concluded that the issue is not an alphabetical issue but just a limited amount of entries within the directory can be displayed.... obviously a bug within the iPad current release of 4.3. I do notice that the iPhone ver of IOS doesn't seem to have the problem. Also it does display several of the identical TV shows as well as mentioned in prior messages.
