Home sharing importing failure: "you don't have enough access privileges"

I have 3 Macs (iMac, MBP, and MB) all running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and iTunes 9.2 over the same Airport Extreme (n) WiFi network at home. The iMac contains our family's "master" iTunes library. In the past i have been able to import music from the iMac to both the MBP and MB using Home Sharing. On both the MBP and MB i can see the Shared Library on the iMac and can play/stream music from the iMac shared library on both the MBP and MB.
Today, I tried to import new music (both purchased and ripped from CD) from the iMac shared library to the MBP and MB using iTunes' Home Sharing. No problem on the MBP. On the MB, i continually receive an error message saying:
*"There was a problem downloading [song title]. You don't have enough access privileges for this operation. Please check the connection to the network is active and try again"*
I receive this message whether i try to download 1 song or 100.
The network connection appears to be working fine as i can stream music from the iMac to the MB. I have gone through all the System Preferences for Network, Sharing and Security and they are identical on both the MBP and MB. I have also gone through all the iTunes Preferences and they are the same. I have ensured Home Sharing is on all the computers and that they are using the same .mac account. I have restarted all computers multiple times. I have repaired disc permissions on the MB. Nothing makes a difference. I still receive the above error message.
Help! Any one else have this problem? Any clues or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Frank

try this on the MB:
(a) turn home sharing off
(b) deauthorize, then reauthorize it. if content was purchased using more than one iTunes store account, be sure to authorize iTunes to use/play content purchased with all accounts
(c) turn home sharing back on
also on the MB, check if you have read & write permissions for the music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access.
the important part is to *apply to enclosed items* !

    Hey veo1,
I found the following information about that error message:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.

contacts ,calander and notes get syncronised but apps do not . at 4 stage above message come

If you still want to sync your photos try this instead:
    1. Go to the Pictures folder in the Finder window (Pictures usually appears under Favorites in the sidebar of the Finder window)
    2. **Locate the iPhoto Library file and Right click on the file and select Show Package Contents.
    3. Locate the iPod Photo Cache folder and delete it.
    4. Try the sync process again, it should work.
** Sometimes the iPod Photo Cache folder is simply in the Pictures folder and step 2 is not necessary

Okay well I just recently re-installed Mac OS X Leopard and I had video I put on my external hard drive and when I try to put them in iTunes they say: Attempting To Copy to disk "Mini" failed because you dont have enough privileges." The "Get Info" says that the privileges are "read&Write" so what should I do so I can import my video?

  • I am trying to install software. I keep getting error message: 1008:9,-5000 Access denied Error. Plus: "You don't have enough access privileges for this installation." I have Administration privileges on MY machine. So, why can't I install software on it?

The machine I am trying to install on is a MacBook Pro. The software is for an IRIScan express 2 scanner. It says (and provides a disc containing the software) it is compatible with Mac OS.
In System reqirements it states the following:
This is the minimal system configuration required to use Readiris:
a Mac OS computer with a G3 processor.
the operating system Mac OS X version 10.2 (“Jaguar”). Earlier ver- sions of the Mac OS operating system are not supported!
110 MB of free hard disk space.
I have no idea what (nor where to find out if it has) a G3 processor is. My machine has Mountain Lion. Is this "above" or "below" "Jaguar"?
    Any assistance will be appreciated.

    I'll try Silverfast.
Err... Try VueScan first. VueScan have one-for-all software, Silverfast - lot of modules for specific scanners. If they not have version for your specific scanner - no chances.
VueScan works with at least some IRIS models: http://applejac.typepad.com/applejac_macintosh_users/2009/05/vuescan-universal-s oftware-image-capture-tool.html
And I see 10.7-10.8 support on IRIS page: http://www.irislink.com/c2-1628-189/Mac-OS-compatibility-support.aspx

  • Itunes library cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation - error message

I keep getting this message.  It just suddenly started happening!

Actually, yes I used to have MS Antispyware installed, but now I have uninstalled it and upgraded to the Windows Defender program, which was supposed to be a replacement.
    good lord.
okay, we would get some reports of people getting an "you don't have enough access privileges" message with regard to setting itunes as the default music player if they had MS Antispyware beta running during an itunes install.
let's try an experiment. try switching Windows Defender off prior to opening itunes.
do you still get the access privileges error message?

  • After Mountain Lion I get: don't have enough access privileges to sync iPad

Hi. After installing Mountain Lion, I'm getting the message:"you don't have enough access privileges to sync iPad" (both iPad and iPhone). I've chequed the permissions on the Music folder and made sure there read & write access all over and inside it. My conputer (MacPro late 2011) is authorized in the iTunes store and actually if make any purchase on either my iPad or iPhone, it gets downloaded. And everything was fine before moving to Mountain Lion (Lion version before). It is shocking, I really hope somebody could Hel me. Thank you

Some more detailed information: The backup is made on either iPad and iPhone. But nothing gets transfered between computer and device. Could it be related to plist inside devices?
    Somebody please !

  • While trying to copy files using home sharing, get the error you do not have enough access privileges

I'm trying to use "Home Sharing" feature in iTunes to import files from another user on the same iMac.  We have 5 users and one user is unable to import files from other users.  We get the error "You do not have enough access privileges to perform this operation."  All users are logged in using the same Apple ID and everyone else can import files.  What gives?

Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back when I switched computers and migrated.  Here's what worked on my iMac, so maybe it'll work on your iPad, too.  Go to User(your home folder)/Music.  Select/highlight your "Music" folder.  Then do Command-I ("Get Info" from the File menu), click on the padlock icon in the lower right of the new window.  Enter your user password.  Click on your username just above the now-open padlock.  Select "Read & Write" if it's on "Read Only," "Write Only," or "No Access."  Now having your user account with "Read & Write" privileges (it may have been this way already; still do this next step), click on the gear on the bottom-center of that window.  Click on "Apply to all enclosed items."  When the pop-up says "Are you sure?" (or the equivalent), say "yes."  This will grant access privileges to your user account for all the music files inside your music folder--all your iTunes stuff included).  Then you should be good to go.
