Home sharing section gone from side bar

when I activate home sharing and sign in to my icloud account the home sharing tab from the sidebar disappears. I am still able to share to a certain extent but I am not able to completely browse all my libary from other devices like I could previously, this happend after performing a fresh install of ML 10.8.4 and problem persists after updating to 10.8.5.

Have you tried rebuilding your iTunes library.

  • I have Itunes 11 and home sharing isnt in the side bar

I have logged in my home sharing and used it before but when I updated to itunes 11 its no longer in the side bar.
and i found out how to make the side bar visible its just not there.

    Hi, emmyluvsmusiq.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I would verify that home sharing is enabled.  You will need to access the menu bar which is hidden by default.  To enable the menu bar, you can press Control-B.  Once this is done, select File > Home Sharing > Turn On Home Sharing.  Follow the same steps with the devices that are using this feature.

  • Referencing and toggling mulitple regions from side bar.

This is on APEX 32 10G XE.
    My page looks like this
    <--------------Sidebar Region------------>     <-------------------------------------------- A chart Region from link1--------------------------------->
    |   _link1_                              |      |                                                                                                      |
    |   _link2_                              |      |                                                                                                      |
    |   _link3_                              |      |                                                                                                      |
    |   _link4_                              |      |                                                                                                      |
<-------------Sidebar Region------------>      <-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->My requirement is, the region on the right side is the chart region which will dynamically change based on the links selected in the sidebar.
To explain in a more elaborative way, if user clicks link1 from above, a chart will be displayed as a result of clicking link1, then, if user clicks link2, another chart should display as a result of clicking link2. And when that happens, previous region contents from link1 needs to disappear and chart region from link2 needs to show up as a result.
In summary, how can I dynamically hide/show multiple regions trigged by clicks on the links from side bar region on the left.
    Any input?
Thank you much for reading this post.

    No Problem Rich,
I'll try my best to explain it, if you can't quite get it work I see if i can sort out some screen shots,
    1) Create New Region:
-->Go to your Page Definition and Create a new HTML region
-->Give it a Title and select No Template from the Region Template select list
    -->Hit Create Region
    2) Create a Hidden Page item:
-->From Page Definition Create New Page Item
-->Choose Hidden Item and Hidden and Protected for the item type
    -->Give it a Name (i called mine P3_DISP_REG) and select a region
-->Accept defaults for the Label as this won't be displayed
-->Give the item a default value of 1
    -->Hit Create Item
    2) Add conditional display to the region:
-->From page definition edit your first region
-->In the Conditional Display Section --> Choose Value of Item in Expression 1 = Expression 2
+(this informs Apex to only the display the region if the value of the page item meets the value in expression 2)+
-->Type the name of the item you created in step 2 into Expression 1 e.g. P3_DISP_REG
-->In Expression 2 type the value of *1*
Repeat this for all regions increasing the value of expression 2 each time
    3) Create list to change Item value:
-->Go to Shared Components and Select Create list
-->Give the list a name and accept rest of defaults +(this will take you to the list entries page)+
    ---->Hit Create List entry
-->Give the list entry a name +(i.e Corresponding Region Name )+
---->In the Target Section type in your page number
-->Then in Set these items Text field type (or select) your page item created in step 2 +(P3_DISP_REG)+
-->Then in With these Values type 1
this sets the value of the page item when the link is selected
Create the list entries for all regions on your page and type the corresponding value you typed in step 3 to display the correct region
    4) Add the list to your page and your should be done!
    Hope it helps

  • Strange Items Under Shared Devices In Finder Side Bar

I have file sharing on for both my lap top and imac. Each shows up under Shared in the finder side bar. And I am able to connect to either one if I click on them. However two other devices show up as well. These two devices do not exist. When I use "Get Info" for them it indicates they are PC servers. I don't have any such thing. One of the items actually has a hyphenated version of my base station name. If I click on that one it says "connection failed". If I click on the other one it says "connected as guest" but nothing shows up in the window.
Is there anyway to delete these items/devices or at least keep them from showing up? And why are they showing at all?

I appreciate you taking the time to look. My 3 macs are now displaying only other Leopard computers. The strange ones have disappeared. One strange listing did look like my airport express base station. I have a 2nd express airport which servers to play my itunes. I, also, have two PCs on a Linksys wireless network and a wireless printer on my airport network.
Have no idea why the strange additions have disappeared. In an attempt to get them to disappear, I did shut down & restart each computer (Macs & PCs), unplugged and replugged both express airports, turned off then on the printer, and unplugged and replugged the linksys wireless router connected to my DSL modem. My goal was to isolate the equipment causing the strange listings. No luck. Could only modify the strange listing by totally taking down the wireless network at the DSL modem. Then, after returning from working at a client's; everything looked normal. ?????

  • Home sharing to migarte from old PC to new PC not working

Hello babyharpseal and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
"move the SSD from my old Macbook(complete dead)"
So you're sure that SSD is working properly? What happened to your '07? and did you keep your Mavericks Installer?
    If so:
Update your 2011 to the latest version of Mavericks and place your SSD in an external and do this:
Move your data to a new Mac - Apple Support
Then insure that your internal is bootable and reinstall Mavericks on your SSD.
    http://macs.about.com/od/Mavericks/ss/How-To-Perform-A-Clean-Install-Of-Os-X-Mav ericks-On-A-Macs-Startup-Drive.htm
This will be a clean install and all data will be erased.
"The OS X Mavericks Installer, available from the (Apple Store)"
    No longer true.
Apple will want you to update to Yosemite but I'm currently not recommending that.

  • "All my files" has gone missing from side bar, can't get it back

    Hi,
I have deleted the "All my files" (in Dutch: "Al mijn bestanden") link from the sidebar by accident. It is no longer available and I cannot get it back by going to the Finder Preferences. As you can see from the picture it is missing in the Finder Side bar, but in Preferences it still is checked. Moreover, it is also no longer available from the "Go"-Menu (in Dutch: "Ga"), SHIFT-CMD-F is grey.
If I uncheck "All my files" in Preferences it automatically checks it again, but it does not reappear.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get it back? I only want to do a Lion restore factory settings as a last resort. Thanks.

When you restarted with the shift key held down, did the start up sequence look different from normal or just the same as usual?
If it looked the same as usual, try it again. See here for how to do a safe boot if you're not sure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
If you are sure you started safe mode correctly, and 'All my files' is still not showing, you should restart the computer holding down  'command-r' and choose 'Reinstall OS X Lion' from the window. This should not affect any of your personal folders or apps, but please do backup your system before doing this in case anything goes wrong.
If you are sure you started safe mode correctly, and the problem was solved while in safe mode, restart your computer normally. If the problem reappears, go to
 > System Preferences... Login Items
Make a note of the programs listed in the window. Select all and click the minus '-' button at the bottom of the window. Restart your computer. You should find the problem solved. Now add each one of those programs back to the Login Items list one at a time, restarting after adding each one. After each restart, check 'All my files'. If when you find it disappears, go back to Login Items and remove the last program you added. That's the culprit.

  • Getting Rid of Airport Extremes under Shared Devices in Finder Side Bar

In the Finder side bar, under Shared, I see a nice list of all the computers on my local network.
Unfortunately, I also see my Airport Extremes (I have two) and they show up as type "PC Server". How can I fix this problem either by not having the Airport Extremes show up while keeping the rest of my computers showing up correctly or (ii) having the finder understand that these are Airport Extremes and not try to connect to them and show the wrong icon.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • HT202213 How do I, using Home Sharing, move songs from my wife's itunes library to mine, so that I can download them on my iphone5?

If I understand what I'm reading about Home Sharing, the same Apple ID must be used to share itunes music between different iphones....but we each have or own separate Apple ID.  Am I understanding this correctly?  How do we share the music in our libraries.

Just copy the files across the network, via a USB flash drive, or external hard drive from one computer to the other.
Keep in mind the computer must be authorized to play the content which means your computer will need to be authorized for your wife's iTunes account.

  • Preview Build Section gone from Windows Tech Preview

So, I noticed that after updating to Windows Tech Preview Build 9860, the preview build section is gone from my settings in zPC settings. Is this a glitch or did Microsoft temporally remove it? Thanks.

It's there, you're just not looking in the right place.
There are two settings Apps - PC Settings and zPC Settings.
    Look in PC Settings, under
Update and recovery.  The Preview builds section is there in build 9860.

  • Iphoto albums have disapeared from side bar? how do I recover them?

All my iphoto albums have disareared from the side bar how do I recover them?

To repair your iPhoto Library you basically select your iPhoto Library in the Finder, hold down the key-combination ⌥⌘ very firmly, then double click the iPhoto library to open the "LIbrary First Aid" panel. Select "Repair Database" to repair your database files in the library. You may also add an "Repair Permissions", if the first repair did not help.
If all fails, try "Rebuild Database", but that should not be tried without a current backup. Did you bring a portable drive with you?
You did not mention your iPhoto version; if your version is not the most recent 9.4.3, look at this document on how to run the repair: iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library

  • Can home sharing be used from two different homes?

I was wondering if you connect Home Sharing from two different homes is it possibly to share the music?

The primary constraint is that Home Sharing uses the same wifi network for sharing/streaming between computers/devices. So if the wifi network stretches across multiple houses, it should be possible. But if the houses are on different wifi networks, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

  • Shared section disappears from left column of finder

The shared section of the left hand column of finder disappears (I don't mean an individual drive, I mean the entire section). The shared items work fine under parallels using boot camp as a virtual disk. When the shared section happens to show up in finder, the drives work fine. They work fine from other windows PCs. Clearly this is a apple problem with no resolution.
I have tried the display bug (make the column wider in finder) and sometimes the shared section appears. I have spent endless hours on the phone with apple tech support. This bug cripples the functionality of the mac, since it cannot access the network drive that contains multimedia. I am very frustrated.
    Any ideas?
What happened to the sales pitch, "It just works"
    bob

I do regret my decision to switch to mac...there sales pitch "it just works" is BS. There are so many problems with their Unibody MBP, it is sad.
I have spent countless hours with apple tech support on this issue, and of course, they never accepted that there was a bug to begin with.
Then, the Airport Extreme update to 7.4.1 came out, I installed it, and guess what? The shared section always works not. More aggravating, using Software Update (from the apple in upper left corner) does not tell you there is an airport extreme update available; I found it by accident using the Airport Utility to try to resolve a different issue.
    Hope that helps.
