Home studio set up, please help
i have a korgx-5 synthesizer, i am using a yamaha ux16 midi interface with usb plugged into my gorgeous i mac did i say that out loud..sorry. I am trying to get garage band to recognize midi information from my korg. The korg is older so i downloaded the latest driver, i believe i have made the right settings in garage band system prefs Audio/midi inline. It states it is not recognizing any external midi devices. I believe i have the keyboard set up right. i bought the ux16 interface several years back, so i went to the web site, didnt see any new software update so i wrote them a email to see if i needed to update anything. i really am taped out on my trial an error, does anyone have any suggestions on a more constructive process of elimination. Do i have to go through some midi mapping process to specifically tell the computer to communicate with the korg via ux16.

You will need to set up the MIDI device (i.e. the Yamaha) in Applications>Utilities>Audio-Midi Setup. There is 'Help' available when this is open, also these two pages may help:

There is nothing to set up in GB once Audio-MIDI Setup is configured correctly. Drivers for the Korg are irrelevant as (I assume) you are connecting its MIDI out into the Yamaha.
Obviously when you have set this up the Korg will drive GB's own sounds, not provide its own to GB -i n order to do that you would need to feed the audio output from the Korg into GB.

Pressing the Home button twice does not show you what apps are running. It shows you what apps were recently used.
Download a free app from the App Store. Once it downloads, your other apps should work properly again. -

I am using Mail 5.3 with two separate gmail addresses.
One is personal the other is business.
When I send emails from the BUSINESS address, any auto-replies/out of office notices I get come to my PERSONAL INBOX.
I imagine that this is a setting? Please help!Edit the SMTP server list. Add a new one for the business account. Put the correct password and information for it. Give it a description so you will know which server is which. Mke sure the correct server is highlighted in the account selected and check the box to use only that server for that account. Do that for the other account also.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Found this solution in another thread, what you want to do is go into the Nike Fitness thing, go to run, go to Spoken Feedback and set it to off. This should fix your problems.

Icontrol for home studio set-up?
I'm getting a home studio set-up. Im a novice, need some advice on the best accessories to get. Im trying to keep costs down and buy the minimum hardware required.
I have the following:
1. Imac G5
2. Midi synth (not USB)
3. Microphone (not usb)
4. Guitar
Guitar and vocals wont be my focus. Will icontrol work for the keys and vocals? How would I record the guitar? Should I buy another USB interface from m-audio instead of icontrol?I tried to connect my mic into the Tascam US-122 and it doesn't seem to be working.
1. installed the drivers, I have the input listed as Tascam in sound preferences and in garageband preferences. I have the output as speakers so I can hear, correct?
2. when I plug the mic directly into the line in jack on the imac and switch the preferences to line in it records on basic track.
3. I have the Tascam connected by USB only. Should I also have a cord connected from the line out jack into the line in jack on the back of the imac? I thought it would connect via USB only?
4. When I use my midi keyboard with the Tascam it records fine as a software instrument. So I guess the issue is recording real instruments using the Tascam and not direct line in. -
I have asked now twice!!!! Did iTunes make a change that makes AUDIO cd's not read on older cd players? The iTunes AUDIO discs I burn in mixes no longer play in my 2004 Chrysler, 2006 Toyota, or my home cd player. PLEASE HELP.

You would call Apple Support, for which you would probably be charged for the support.
Note that just because those CDs work with your old computer doesn't mean that it's still not an issue with those CDs and the burner in your newer system. Some CD brands just don't work well with some optical drives. If you haven't tried a different brand, and if you're using CD-RW trying CD-R, I would suggest you give that a try just to eliminate that possibility.

Particularly:
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

Home studio set-up for a newbie
I'm just getting started in the world of digital music, and I'm hoping someone can help me set up a home studio.
Here's what I've got:
- Powerbook G4 w/ GarageBand 2
- Yamaha P-200 Electric Piano
- Roland JV-1010 64-voice synthesizer module
I don't even know what the voice synth module does. A friend left it in my garage and doesn't want it anymore. I looked it up on Roland's website but I'm not too clear on it's function.
Questions:
1. How do I get the Yamaha hooked up to my computer?
2. What do I do wih the Roland module?
3. Is there any additional equipment I need?

Yamaha PSR520 touch sensitive keyboard ($599.00)
Behringer unpowered mixer (cost me about $69.00)
iMic Usb adapter (appr.$35.00)
MIDIsport 1x1($49.00)
Shure and Rhodes mikes. ($200-300.00)
With my set up I can record real instrument tracks or software instruments from the same keyboard:

I use the mixer to control the gain from the sound out from the keyboard and from my mikes. The iMic connects the mixer to my usb port since I have no sound in. (There have been reports of problems with the iMic in Tiger. If you have a sound in port use it.)
I use the MIDI interface to connect my keyboard via MIDI cables into Garageband to record software instruments.

Activating Facetime and Imessages on your phone requires the ability to send SMS messages and depending upon where you are that might be an international SMS. Check with your carrier to see if your plan supports sending of international SMS messages. If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)). Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation. If that does not fix things read the following articles:

ITunes, iPad, Remote app Home Sharing Problems. Please help!
So I have my 13" Macbook Pro with the latest version of iTunes installed (10.5.2)
I also have a 32GB Wifi iPad 2 with iOS (5.0.1) with the Remote app installed.
I am so frustrate with this stupid Home Sharing. I followed the directions the app gave me beginning with turning on Home Sharing on iTunes on my MacBook with my account. I then used the same account to turn on Home Sharing on my iPad from the Remote app. I wait a bit, and wait some more, and yet my iTunes library isn't shown in my Remote app like it is in my iPhone.
I've tried to find the answer to my problem via Google and these Apple Support Communities, but with no fix.
I wish you could just connect your device to the computer and punch in the 4-digit code like they used to have you do.
Please help! Thanks in advance.Try turning Home Share off then on on the MacBook Pro and then check Remote App to see if now appears and you can connect - for me it works but eventually I will have to repeat the process to get it working again.

I can watch Netflix fine from Apple tv but when I click onto the Movie Icon it acts as if it's about to show the movie rental selection then goes back to the home screen. Please help!

You are encountering Activation Lock, which cannot be bypassed.
