I have a zenith hdmi 1080p flat screen that im trying to hook my kenwood surround VR-716 with. Im having trouble getting any sound out of it when i try and match up the audios with each other. Could someone please help?

How do I connect my Apple TV to my Philips surround sound DVD system?

I can't seem to get surround sound when watching Apple TV (or when watching live or recorded TV via my Virgin Tivo). I use a three-years old Philips DVD home surround system to get surround sound when I'm watching Blu-Ray (I have connected my Philips Blu-ray and my Philips DVD player without difficulty). But I can't figure out how to get surround sound whne watching Apple TV. I bought an optical cable with an audio jack on one end, to connect to the DVD player and the optical end clicks into the ATV. Still nothing. Any ideas?

The surround system seems to support digital audio - it has settings for HDMI audio and video (even though it doesn't actually have an HDMI port) I bought the optical/audio cable on the advice of a staff member in the Apple Store, but frankly, she didn't see, to understand my problem. She recommended I insert the cable into the "MP3 cable IN" port but that' not working.
I'm probably not explaining myself very well - bottom line: I have a DVD surround system and an Apple TV, so how do I connect them?

I recently purchased a Belkin Y audio cable for my Zen Vision M and connected it to my home surround sound receiver. As soon as I connected it, the music started playing but the screen went off. Trouble with Multiple devices and Ical

I have one itunes account that is shared with a myself and my kids ipod. I have created a calendar for each kid and their activities. I was trying to share this calendar only with the specific ipod, which seems to work. the issue is they are still getting reminders for the other calendars not selected on their device. Is there a way to stop this and is there way to only share the one calendar with them?

If I use AP Utility to set up two different wireless networks, can I name them differently? The reason I ask is the I use two C Crane wifi radios to listen to stations. They need to Log On to a netwrok that has b or g -- not n. For example, to establish a network for the C Crane radios to use, I could call it "Ronald b/g" and for a different wireless network for the Macs to use, I could call it "Ronald n" Does it sound like this would work?
Now to some separate questions. One AE is set up to "join a network" and iTunes is checked for it to work with iTunes at the home surround sound. Could it join the n network, since the unit is a new one?
The other AE unit is one that I'd like to "extend my network" to make the signal stronger downstairs. I suppose it would "extend" the n network?
Finally, the two CCrane radios can log on to the b/g network and hope the signal is strong enough. Is there a device that will make the signal strength of the b/g network stronger? I wouldn't mind purchasing another AE if I could set it up to make the b/g stronger.

Playing a track on more than one computer

Hi all,
Does anyone know if it's possible to play an iTunes track on more than one computer (i.e., running iTunes) at a time? I have my main iTunes library downstairs, connected to an AirPort Express which is connected to my home surround system. While I'm playing a list through this setup, does anyone know if I can get another computer (Mac with iTunes 7.3)in my house to also be playing the tune at the same time (giving me the same music both upstairs and downstairs). I know I can play the track via a shared iTunes library (doing that now), but I want to have the track in synch as people move through the house. Any thoughts?

IPhone music no longer plays in car

I have an iPhone 3GS with iOS4. For some reason (not sure if is since the most recent software update) music will no longer play via my Alpine car system (has connector cable). It displays a message saying the accessory is not compatible, but it always was before, and also my partner's iPhone 3G still plays in the car OK. It works fine as before with headphones or on my home surround sound system just not in the car. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks for the replies - yes, we are going to try resetting the Alpine unit and if this doesn't do it, wait for the next iPhone software update due in the next few days which I'm really hoping will rectify it. Will post again when there is any result.
It is very strange though, it worked fine even after updating to iOS4 months ago, and has only stopped working and displays "Error 01" in the last couple of weeks. I can still make and receive hands free calls via Bluetooth, just can't play music.

Strange AirTunes problem

A few days back, I ran Software Update and installed the latest version of iTunes (7.3.1) and a few other applications. Since then, when I open iTunes and try to stream music through my home surround speakers, it only plays through the right channel(s).
After several days of futzing with it, I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas?
I checked the speaker connections, and they all seem fine, and music played perfectly through my CD and DVD players. And I don't think that my receiver or iTunes are in mono mode, as you can clearly tell that some recorded elements are missing.
On the computer side, I reinstalled iTunes 7.3.1 and trashed my iTunes preference file, but to no avail. I also updated my Airport Express firmware. Any other ideas?

Hi, same problem here. But I don't think it is the new iTunes version (7.3.1) which causes the problem, since I had the same problem before that version came. The audio balance (under system preferences) is adjusted at "mid", so the problem is not here either. I actually returned my AEX and got a new one - but same problem: right channel does not work. Cable is ok - works i.e. with iPod on both channels. My only solution was to buy an opto-cable (of course you need a free optical-input anywhere on your stereo) - then it works! I suppose, the problem is a mechanical contact-failure at the 3,5 mm output of AEX.
Anyway: if anyone here has solved the problem, please let me know!!

The W520 only has stereo out, which is fine if you are in the 1980s or cant afford to spend more than £10 on speakers. For the rest of us, to hook it up to your desktop, studio or home surround speaker system you only have one option - get an external USB surround sound card.
Bought one of these from ebay for £13
Its a small unit, about the size of a pack of cards. Build quality is so-so, e.g. the USB cable is a very loose fit.
It has the following ports:
mini USB (for connection to pc)
optical (toslink) out
optical (toslink) in (with option to set the "spdif in" line level)
line in (3.5mm jack)
mic in (3.5mm jack)
front stereo out (3.5mm jack)
rear surround stereo out (3.5mm jack)

If you plug it into the W520 running win 7 64bit, it will automatically find drivers, but only produces stereo.
If you run win7/setup.exe which is on the supplied drivers disk, you get surround sound from windows. When the device is plugged in, you get a c-media control panel in your system tray, which has options to

enable spdif output (only see a PCM option)
set individual volumes for each speaker
enable DSP effects, including virtual 7.1
input and output mixer (similar to windows)
Various 3D effects and room simulations.
Set the room size.
Preset equalizer settings (e.g. dance, jazz, bass)
Karaoke/Magic Voice control panel
It lists itself as a Intel 6 series/C200 chipset family USB enhanced host controller 1C2D, Xear3D, DirectX 11
The unit comes with a small drivers CD and a USB cable.
Seems to work find with steam/source games such as left 4 dead 2 with surround effects.
As to sound quality I cant say - it seems ok.

Audigy 2 ZS spdif connected to reciever only gives bad and lousy sound

I have connected my Audigy 2 ZS to my Pioneer home surround reciever.
I have used a 3.5mm pin to connect a RCA cable to my spdif out on my card and connected this to my coax digital input on my pioneer.
I have the latest driver
But the sound in my home stereo is only bad, lousy and tubelike.
No extre effects do I use, and everything else (DVD, Pocorn hour and CD player) connected to my pioneer sounds crystal clear and really good, but not the music from my computer. (Tried differend kind of mediaplayers)
So, my question is why is it so? Should I get perfect stereosound from this setup in my home stereo?
Have I done something wrong setting this up?
Very greatful for any help because I have reached the end of the road here...

Need help! Audigy 2 ZS Plea

Hi y'all
I have hooked up this Audigy 2 ZS to XP SP2. Looks like it is working fine with 2 speakers (cheap ones from Dell).
I bought the card from NewEgg and have only 20 days left to return if something on it doesn't work.
I need to test spdif digital output, but I am short on cash to buy good digital speaker set now.
I have a home surround sound system with optical digital input. I also have an optical to Coax converter I bought back then from Radio Shack, and it works fine with my digital cable converter (converter has only Coax spdif).
Home system I have has built-in Dolby Digital & DTS decoder.
I need some way to use this system to test Audigy's digital output fast. Just anyway to see if it works or not. What do I need to do?
I have already done anything I can think of. Settings (i.e. digital out, pass-thru, etc.) are correct.
Used a mono to RCA short cable adapter & a long 28 foot RCA cable and connected to Optical to Coax converter but no sound come out from the speakers.
I am only playing saved MP3's from the PC.
No other cable is connected to sound card other than mono to RCA adapter.

. Check in THX Console the sampling rate of the Digital Output. Set it to 48kHz, not 96kHz, because not all receivers support that.
2. Be aware, that you can only get stereo sound from the digital output when playing anything else than DVD movies.
3. For DVD Movies, you need to set SPDIF passthorugh for ALL AC3 decoders you have installed in your system. Otherwise the second in order will handle the decoding and no digital output will take place (or at least, it will only be in stereo).
4. If you don't have a DVD to test Dolby Digital multi-channel playback, try some of these samples. (DTS should also work the same way).

My 4S thinks there r headphones still attached.. how can i undo this

My iPhone 4S won't play ANY sound unless I have a external speaker or have a wireless fm transmitter plugged into the headphone jack to play sound through my home surround sound system or car speakers. I have searched the Internet and a few places said I might have lint or dirt in the headphone jack. One way to supposedly tell is to press the volume buttons while there isn't anything plugged into the headphone jack and if the phone shows the headphone volume instead of the ringer volume then that's the problem. But mine shows the ringer volume when I press the volume buttons. Another site said it might be the charging pins at the bottom of the phone and to clean those as well. So is there something in the headphone jack port or did my speaker stop working? I have already tried to shut the phone down, hard rest, a factory reset, and made sure I had the latest updates for IOS 6. I checked my sound settings and made sure the side switch was turned on and up! So it's not that. Another website I found said there could be a problem in the software. UGH!

AC3 codec support requested for

Anyone here that would like to see Creative support AC3 for the ZVM, please help out by signing this, please!
The Cowon A2 has the same system-on-a-chip that the ZVM uses and supports downmixing from Dolby AC3 5. to 2 channel AC3 audio.. this should be a fairly simple matter of a firmware upgrade. It would save a lot of us from having to convert movies with AC3 audio to MP3 audio for playback on the Zen Vision:M.
The ZVM is a great player and AC3 support would be a great firmware feature to be added.

Dolby 5. Ch AC3 is great for home surround systems.
As many movies are encoded to AC3 surround, having a way to downmix to 2 channel and playback on the ZVM nati'vely would be a boon to many. Re-encoding to MP3 is just another un-needed step when the hardware support is already there.
I hope Creative sees the advantage in providing this feature for their ZVM customers.

Apple tv getting the sound even when airplay mirroring is off

Hi Guys,
I am experiencing a very strange problem. I am using an Apple TV connected with a Macbook Air with Mountain Lion. The connection is done through a Time Capsule wireless network. The problem is that even after i switch off the airplay mirroring off the apple tv still gets my sound and i cannot use skype as the sound goes to my home surround system. Any ideas on this ?

I have the same problem
at first it was showing me the video on the TV, but the audio through the Mac. Then restarted Skype and it started conecting A/V properly
Now, everytime I use skype on my computer its showing regular AP on the TV

Help with X-Fi Titanium

Hi, guys
I am on a Win7 OS & have just installed the X-fi Titanium.
Installed all drivers & software, connected my PC to my home surround system via digital out.
Here is my problem, when I switch my settings to DTS connect or Dolby Digital Li've, I am able to get sound thru the Creative speaker set up & I also get system sound thru, but I can't get sound playing video/audio files. When I turn DTS connect or Dolby Digital Li've off, I get sound thru, but obviously as PSM.
Is there anybody out there that can give me some help with my problem?

To be honest with you Boon2 I have gotten the best results by installing in safemode & cleanboot state. I have tried installing the regular way from the desktop, but had no luck at all, that is why I'm here now because I couldn't install the software normal way. I've tried the install method suggested by creative T/S which was to install in a cleanboot state and delete the previous install in cleanboot & reinstall while in cleanboot I had no luck, I have also used Dri'vesweeper to delete all creative drivers while in safemode & regular way from the desktop.
The problem I think is the soundcard? is not being recognized, because when I finally got everything to install, software wise, when I reboot I would?get found new hardware (AUDIO DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO BUS) and in my device manager, I have a yellow (!) by OTHER DEVICES: AUDIO DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO BUS? And under the SOUND, VIDEO GAMING CONTROLS I have the following listed: AUDIO CODECS, LEGACY AUDIO DRIVER, LEGACY VIDEO CAPTURE DEVICES, MEDIA CONTROL DEVICES & VIDEO CODECS.
New if I try and delete the MS UAA BUS DRIVER from System Devices, then that would get ride of the AUDIO DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO BUS? and I can install the latest CreativeDriver XFTI PCDRV LB 2 7 0006. But as soon as I reboot I get FOUND NEW HARDWARE WIZARD for MS UAA BUS DRIVER the driver installs for it and this also puts the AUDIO DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION BACK in my device manager.
How can I permanently get ride of the MS UAA BUS DRIVER?

ATV3 - I need to enable dolby digital for optical surround sound (netflix and home movies), but when I do this it stops audio coming through TV speakers

I have a cinema sound receiver connected to Apple TV via optical cable. When I have dolby digital set to Auto it doesn't come through as dolby digital when watching movies on netflix and iTunes (home movies).
If I set Dolby Digital to ON it works as expected, but the sound stops working through normal TV speakers (via HDMI). This is the same for netflix and home movies.
I tried 16 bit setting, but it made no difference.
Any advice on how I can get this working - meaning Dolby Digital always on for when I turn my surround sound on and sound through speakers for normal operation?
Obviously I can change the setting when needed, its just a pain.

Hello everyone,
here is the friendly and signed driver installation method to enable Dolby Digital Plus in your Encore internal speakers only. This is not an official driver, there is no control panel for Dolby Digital Plus or various sound effects, but tested and has much better and richer surround sound quality as before with factory driver. I guess, this driver tweak can work with any Bay Trail tablet also.
How can you upgrade Encore sound drivers:
1. Download signed driver package and extract.
2. Open Device Manager.
3. Upgrade your Sound, Video and game controllers
- Intel SST Audio Device
- Realtek I2S Audio Codec
one by one with "Have a disk" method.
4. Double click enabledolby.reg file and add to your registry.
5. Restart, and enjoy better sound quality.
