Home theater connectivity, mode opti

Hi Guys
So... a while buy I purchased X-Fi Fatalty... and up until a while ago i've ran it on few creative speaker sets as well as klipsch... everything worked fine except the speakers "sucked" if you will.
so i upgraded my stuff to a
-Denon AVR-706 amplifier
-Paradigm Cinema 70 home theater package (audiophile quality at low price!)
now... i connect these to my x-fi through analog inputs because we all know digital won't do real time encoding of 5. games. here comes the problem. i used to listen to my 2 channel music in audio creation mode where i CLONED 2 front speakers to my 2 rear speakers. this gave me my stereo x2 effect whithout the degrading quality of CMSS. well you see when you go amp/home theater speakers with x-fi's implementation of bass settings you NEED to have the bass redirection turned on as well as the +5Hz boost. The problem is that there is NO bass redirection settings in audio creation mode and there's no way that i know of to clone my fronts to rears in entertainment mode. i don't want cmss upmixing because i dont believe it's cloning... i believe it's upmixig regardless of the 2 modes selected. Does ANYONE know how to clone these whether at the driver level or through a plugin (i use WMP on Vista Ultimate x64 SP)?
the other thing is.... maybe it's my amp but in regards to local radio reception x-fi volume needs to be cranked WAY up (75%) on the PC side to match the level of other components in the setup... does this thing go into some sort of a low volume mode? I'm not pointing fingers here for this one but maybe you guys know something I dont
anyways.... thanks in advance!

Open Command Prompt and select run as Administrator.
In the command prompt windows type in powercfg -devicequery wake_armed and press the enter key to find out
which device causes the problem.

It appears that the list includes all of the various wireless devices that are used at various times to interface with the PC, as well as the network.
But none of these devices has changed.

On [PC A]:
Update: Clean Boot will only enter sleep mode for 2-3 seconds ... then restarts
Update 2: Uninstalled Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2923545) ...
Same result
Update 3: Changed power setting in Control Panel>Power Options>Change Plan Settings>Change advanced power settings>Multimedia Settings>Setting>Changed from>prevent idling to sleep TO
> allow the computer to sleep. No Sleep Again after a few seconds.
Next Step: Removed media location on this PC [PC A] from [PC B] in Media Center.
RESULT: Now this PC [PC A]Sleeps
In addition: Checked UEFI Bios There are no Wake By ring, etc. settings enabled
Restored all settings on this PC [PC A]Will now move all media to Server, I guess??
Is this some fluke in WMC? That using the media in a REMOTE W7 Pro PC will prevent that PC from sleeping? Or am I missing something?

  • Difference between the Creative Decoder DDTS-100 & Creative Home Theater Connect DTS-

I've had the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5. System for years now for my PC with a Sound Blaster card, and I just got a MacBook.
    http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/promedia-ultra-5-.aspx
I've asked on the Klipsch message board about a digital decoder. I was recommended the Creative Decoder DDTS-00
    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=36&product=9468
but I also found the Creative Home Theater Connect DTS-60 for less money, any idea what the difference between the two would be?
    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=6&product=49

No, for the reason mentionned in the stickies. But since you seems not knowing much on digital sound let me explain.
Digital means it's coded with 0 and , and therefor only cable is sufficient. You might know there is many sound formats for home cinema, like Dolby Digital and DTS. And a digital decoder need to be input a compatible sound stream to be able to decode it. Which means the soundcard MUST be able to convert it's output sound in one receiver compatible format.
Creative cards cannot do this kind of thing.
Another thing: current home theater sound format are limited to 6. (DD-EX and DTS-ES). So you would not be able to achieve more than 6..
THX isn't a sound format, only a certification. The THX calibrator is a must have component to correctly calibrate your speakers to enhance you sound experience.
If you need to have TRUE surround up to 7. channels you don't need to use digital connection because it's simply useless.

  • Apple tv home theater connect?

how to connect apple tv to home theater receiver that conncts to monitor with component cables?

Theoretically you can't do that - as AppleTV and most HDMI equipped devices enforce HDCP to prevent conversion of protected digital video to analogue video you will struggle to find an easy solution.
You may find converters out there that'll convert HDMI to analogue video but they will be of dubious legality as manufacturers of devices using HDMI are supposed to block such conversions or downgrade the analogue out signal.

    Hi pmanohar555,
If you are referring the 3.5mm dual stereo-to-stereo cable from Inspire 4400 to the audio output, you can purchase from your local hardware store.
If you want to connect Inspire 4400 directly to your TV is very challenging as TV typically only offer front stereo output but Inspire 4400 require 2 stereo outputs which are the front and rear. In the end you will only get the front output from the TV if your TV support 3.5mm output for the Inspire 4400 to connect. Please note that Inspire 4400 is designed to work as PC desktop speakers which require a sound card that can support multi-channel speakers.
Hope the above information can help you.

  • Intermittent sound using dd live pack, spdif to home theater spdif.

. when using dd li've pack to listen to audio through home theater, connecting spdif out on elite pro module to spdif in, i have only intermittent sound. there is no common timing, just sound on and off. as the sound comes on, on my computer i have the dolby digital li've bitstream out "bug" that comes on in the lower left hand corner of my screen, then goes away when sound off. i am listening in entertainment mode. i don't really know what else to say. does anyone else have this [email protected]

G? A lot of Audigy DDL users have reported 5. signal being lost randomly.
Mine cuts out and Dolby Digital Li've becomes plain PCM (stereo on the receiver). It only does it for a second, then 5. gets restored. Then a few seconds/minutes/hours later it happens again.
Sounds somewhat related to the X-Fi issues.... perhaps is the same thing?

  • Configuring Home Theater

    Hi there,
I'm trying to configure my 5.1 home theater, connected at my macbookpro on headphone ouput, but in system preferences there is only a single 'headphone ouput' (ok, right.), and on 'audio midi setup' at output properties, there is only 2 channels detected. I can't activate surround 5.1 under speaker configurator too. Can i distribute this audio in more than 2 channels? What i'm doing wrong?
    Thanks.

  • Connecting an ipod to a home theater system

I recently purchased a home theater system with a USB port claiming the system can play music files. When I connected my ipod to the system, all I got was the "do not disconnect" message on the ipod screen and no ability to play music. When making the same connection with a scandisk flash memory MP3 player, there was no issue with playing the music. I am curious as to why the ipod will not play through this connection? I know I can connect the ipod through the audio in port on the home theater system, but by using the USB connection, I was hoping not only to play the music, but also charge the ipod as well. In addition to why my ipod will not play in this home theater system (RCA), is there another type of home theater system out there that does have a USB connection for the ipod to play through?

  • How to Connect My Apple TV to My Panasonic SC-PT760 Home Theater

    Hello;
I currently use the Panasonic SC-PT760 as the Home Theater DVD Player which only has 1 HMDI output and connects directly to the HD TV, also I have the Direct TV connected to the Home Theather via AUX.
I am wondering how should I connect my apple TV, if I would like to connect ut via HMDI. Is a HMDI switch an option or what should I do ?
    Please advise.

You can purchase HDMI switches but don't expect them to work perfectly in _every_ configuration. What I mean is that your mileage may vary, it may work, or it may not. However, chances are good that it will but I'd make certain that you can return the HDMI switch if it doesn't work correctly when paired with you DVD player and the Apple TV and your HDTV.
By the way, does your TV have component inputs? If so you can use the Apple TV's component outputs to get HD but then you'll have to route the audio from the Apple TV either over standard RCA stereo plugs or via the digital audio optical connection on the Apple TV (assuming again that your HDTV has optical audio inputs, but I see that you receiver has an optical input so that should work too).

  • How to connect Apple TV to projector and home theater system?

I have an Optoma HD20 projector that I have a long hdmi cable connected to and plugged that into my Apple TV. I also have an older home theater system that does not have an optical audio input. So I bought an adapter to go from optical audio to RCA cables. When I get it all plugged in and turned on I can't even get the video on my screen. What am I missing?

  • How to connect mid 2012 MacBook Pro to home theater system

Okay so I'm looking at purchasing a home theater system and was wanting to know the best way to connect my mid 2012 MacBook Pro to the home theater system and TV. I am wanting to play both movies (Netflix etc) and music. Will my MacBook play 5.1 surround sound to the home theater system? Whats the best way to connect this all up? MacBook audio to the home theater system via Digital Optical from the headphone port with a 3.5mm to toslink adapter and then video to the TV via HDMI cable from the thunderbolt port with thunderbolt to HDMI adapter? My thinking was to separate the video and audio to get the best picture and sound. Any help/advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Will my MacBook play 5.1 surround sound to the home theater system?
    Yes.
Whats the best way to connect this all up?
An AppleTV or any AirPlay-enabled AVR. AirPlay is wireless, though you could use wired Ethernet if you want to avoid all the potential problems associated with wireless. Make sure it specifically says AirPlay which is Apple's proprietary technology. There are quite a few of them to choose from today. Denon is one, I believe Pioneer, there may be others. Shop around. The AppleTV's price was recently reduced to $69 US and may actually be the most cost-effective solution, allowing you to research the best AVR for your needs. The AppleTV has both HDMI (audio and video) and optical audio outputs.
MacBook audio to the home theater system via Digital Optical from the headphone port with a 3.5mm to toslink adapter and then video to the TV via HDMI cable from the thunderbolt port with thunderbolt to HDMI adapter?
Way too complicated But if you really don't want to use AirPlay, you can purchase an inexpensive (< $10) Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and an equally inexpensive (<$3) HDMI cable to any HDMI input on your AVR.
My thinking was to separate the video and audio to get the best picture and sound.
It makes absolutely no difference. HDMI and optical audio use completely identical digital audio signals.

  • Can I connect my iMac's iTunes library via wi-fi to my Blu-Ray player so I can listen to the music on my computer with my home theater system?

My music library is on my iMac, located in a different room of the house than my home theater system with a decent Denon receiver and good Infinity towers. I have an iPod connector to the Denon which I can use, but the iPod has a limited library of songs, so I would like to somehow access my iMac music library and be able to play it through the home theater system. Hard wiring the components is out of the question due to length of run through several rooms of the house, no basement and cathedral ceilings. I already have my iMac and my Panasonic Blu-Ray player both connected to my wi-fi, and it seems there should be a way to connect both of them using the wi-fi. The blu-ray player is DLNA, but the Mac isn't, so that is out of the question. Is there any other way to get these components to talk to each other over wi-fi?

There is a DLNA media server called MediaLink that is designed for use with the Play Station 3.  It is not advertised as working with other DLNA clients but it usually will.  I use it to stream audio, video and pictures to a WDTV media player in my bedroom.  Works great, even supports iTunes playlists.  I believe it still has a free trial period so you can see if it works with your player.

  • How do I connect the ipod nono 7th gen. to Panasonic home theater sound system

I ordered an ipod nano for my daughter for christmas as her old original ipod died. She has a Panasonic home theater sound system (SA-PT950) that came with a little dedicated ipod station to connect her ipod to and get surround sound music. Now I see the 7th gen. nano has a different interface and won't work in this station. Is there an adapter available or does anyone know another way to connect it? Thanks

  • How do I connect the Apple TV to the home theater if the optical audio port is in use

I had an airport express connected from the home theater system to the speaker out port on the express through which air play worked just fine. Then the express wouldn't work with my new router so I looked for something to replace it. The new Airport Express was the same price as the Apple TV and so I went with it for the added HDMI from NetFlix benefits. Now I find that the cables I used on the express won't work on the Apple TV. It wants an optical cable but there is only one port on the speakers and it is needed to get the sound from the TV to the speakers. So, is here a work around? An adapter or something? What I really wanted it for more than anything else was to use air play to get my music from the computer to the theater speakers.

I have a further question about this. It turns out I do have 2 optical audio ports but I was told I wouldn't need it if it was connected via hdmi. I have 4 ports and they are all in use so the question is whether the best solution is to just get an optical audio cable and connect it directly or get an hdmi splitter so I can add in the Apple TV?

  • Connection Error with iPod mini to Bose Home Theater System

When connecting my iPod mini to my Bose Home Theater system, it recognizes that iPod has been connected, but after the "Acquiring Signal" process, it gives me an "iPod connection error. Please re-insert iPod into docking station." I tried several times, but the result is the same.
My iPod mini has been updated with the latest software, and I did a system restore to return everything to factory defaults, but still no luck.
    Any suggestions.

Hi. What you need to do is Launch DVD Player. Go to Preferences. Select Disc Setup tab. In Audio Output under Audio in the second part of the menu, select Digital Out-Built-in-Output. Then click OK. See if this works, 'cause mine does.
