Home Wifi suddenly disabled.  Can't enable.

Hi all.  This just happened yesterday. I have had no problem connecting to my home wi-fi since I got the phone in Nov 2012.
Then last night I noticed that my home network is disabled on the phone.  I can't find a place to 'enable' it.  I've re-put in the password, checked that it works with a laptop and it does.  'Forget it, then re-found it.  Re-started the phone a couple of times.   When I  click 'connect' it flashes the 'secured with  WPA/WPA2 PSk' then goes back to 'disabled'.  I’ve put wifi on and off several times.
I have changed nothing on my modem.
It is so frustrating.   Is there a place to ‘enable’ that I don’t see?
I don't know what else to do!

Hi, yes I have.  Still shows as 'disabled'. It is so odd, since it has been working just fine since I got it, last Nov.
And now I am in the office and it shows 'disabled' under all the ones I can access with or without passwords!
What is going on!!!
Looks like I am not able to access any Wifi at all.  Of course wifi is turned on, but any connection is showing 'disabled.'.

I would like to use my iPhone 6's wifi hotspot to provide Internet at home (I do not have home internet) via a Time Capsule which I currently use the TC simply as a home wifi network without Internet to enable things like printing wirelessly and backing up data wirelessly via time machine.
I have a Mac Pro, iPhone 6, iPad, Apple TV and Time Capsule. No home Internet.
Is is possible to have my iPhone 6's wifi hotspot used to provide Internet to my wifi network on time capsule? Has anyone else had success doing this? I'm not a tech head and really know very little about things like this. Thanks. Jen

You can have a go using a wireless bridge.. eg the airport express will do this.. you can join it to the iphone wireless running as a hotspot.. and then plugged into the TC wan port.. the TC has to be setup in router mode.. so this is going to give you double NAT errors.. and of course errors for all the time the hotspot is turned off.. but it can work. However you might find it requires you to manually connect up each time.. If you are really going to try and do this you will manage it.. but how fiddly it becomes might put you off after a week.
You will chew up your 5GB very fast using any streaming media even radio. So be very careful to track the usage.
Apple should have built in the TC the ability to plug in a wireless 3G modem.. via the USB but Apple have ceased to do adventurous stuff.
If you give up the TC as main router there are plenty of better products on the market that will handle multiple wan connections.. !!

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Can not connect to my home wifi suddenly

Suddenly I can not connect to my home wifi connection.  I have verified the password and I know that is correct.  Any suggestions?

Also, I can connect just fine from my iPad just not my iPhone4s.

  • My iPad first gen (iOS5.1.1) won't connect to my home WiFi suddenly. It's worked fine for years but just stopped. All other devices do connect to the WiFi. Now, the iPad does connect to the WiFi at my workplace. Ideas on this?

My iPad (first generation iOS5.1.1.1) quit connecting to my home WiFi recently after years of being able to. All other devices in my home connect fine. I have taken every step I can find to try and remedy things including restoring my iPad to factory settings. Still nothing - when it tries to connect to my network it just spins. I took my iPad to work and it connected to the WiFi there just fine. Came back home, no good. After talking with my local Mac supplier they've suggested that maybe my router is the cause. I've unplugged it several times for lengths of up to an hour but that still isn't getting things working again. Any ideas?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Firefox tries to connect to broadband when I am already connected to home wifi. How can I turn off this repeated attempt.

I boot my laptop and connect to my home wifi network. When I use Firefox, and am on msn.com or Yahoo.com, a window pops up for a connection to broadband, and it prevents the computer from moving to a link or another website unless I cancel this popup. It happens regularly while I am using Firefox to get to websites.

That is a Windows error message; beyond the scope of this forum. Looks like those two websites are trying to do something unexpected or other than "normal".
I tried to search for info about a 720 error message on Windows 8, most responses included reading the error log to see what "request" was triggering that message. That image shows that logging is enabled, so the answer "we" need is probably in that log. I don't know how to pull up that log myself, much explain how to do that to you.
My suggestion is to try a Windows 8 support forum for help with that.

  • My ipad 2 can see my home wifi but I can't connect to the internet anymore ???

I can connect my Ipad to the encrypted network at home - but I can't connect to the internet anymore.  In Safari, Itunes, email .... NOTHING ! Help pls.

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • My iphone 5 says that it's connected to home wifi but I can't access the internet

We just got Comcast Xfinity internet installed and I have no idea if that's the problem (or if it's because our wifi does not require a password) but my iPhone 5 (and my boyfriend's) will connect to our home network wifi but when I try to use the internet, it gives me the message that "Safari cannot open the page because the server has stopped responding" or something to that effect. I have tried: 1) Forgetting the network and re connecting 2) Resetting network settings 3) Changing from DHCP to Static and back 4) changing the DNS number and 5) Calling AT&T Support (no luck there, either). The tech person did suggest (as weird as it sounds) that the fact that my wireless router does not have a password might be the problem and that once I password protect it, it could help. No idea.... Please help!

I figured it out! We have a modem (the new one that was given to us when we signed up with Comcast) and a wireless router. The network names on the two are different, so I called Comcast and they confirmed that the new Comcast modem puts out a wireless signal and that our network is connected to that one, not the old wireless router. So I checked to see if that network was available to connect to on my iPhone and it was! I entered the new password, forgot the old network, and it works!! Thanks for the suggestion to call Comcast!

  • WiFi suddenly disabled

Sometimes the Xperia Z1 phone disables my WiFi without asking me. I just discover that when I check the phone and find the WiFi sign off. The problem is I don't want it to disable the WiFi under any circumstances.
Note: I noticed that with my previos ACRO S phone but I thought it is only a problem with my phone hardware or something.

It should not matter that stamina mode is on.. Its a function of this device, and so it should not conflict in with any other function.. Before the last update i never Had this problem. So this should be fixed a.s.a.p. Caus everytime i have to shut down en restart my Phone. This is very anoying and so far i have reccomended other phones to people because of these buggs and no update to fix it...

  • My macbook can't find home wifi

My macbook air can't find the home wifi. It can, however, find the neighbours' wifis. The home wifi is working fine with my other laptop and iphone so the wlan router is working.
I can't add the network by manually entering its name (says "no network found")
This happened suddenly without any changes to my computer or the wifi settings.
My computer is a 1-year old macbook air. I haven't found any threads with a real, working solution for this issue so any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you

    ojjo8 wrote:
Do you honestly not think those were the first two things i did when i encountered the problem...
And unfortunately no, neither option works.
    Thanks
Many people do not power cycle their routers when having wifi issues.
When attempting to get help here or on any forum always include everything you have attempted to solve the issue and never assume anybody knows what you have or haven't done unless it is explicitly stated.
    Next troubleshooting steps:
    - Network Preferences > Advanced
      Delete all preferred networks, restart
    - Change your router's wifi channel to a channel > 5 from the one in current use

  • Can't Open Some App using home wifi network, must use 3g to do it

My iPhone is 5s. Just like the title said, whenever my iPhone / iPad connected to wifi I can't connect to some games like Puzzle and Dragon even though I can browse using safari, using fb / twitter / instagram just fine. I keep getting connection error (in game of course) whenever I open that game (not only that game actually). Whenever I open the game, I can get myself automatically logged into gamecenter, but the can't connect to the game itself.
I've tried changing the dns from the default 192.168.1.1 to google's and resetting the cache (airplane mode -> on -> off). But to no avail.
Have tried to open the game on my father's iPhone and iPad, and my sister iPhone too. I suspect my problem is my wifi configuration isn't compatible to ios(?).
Sometimes I experience updating app problem too on home wifi network, I can browse app store but can't update any app.
While my phone can't, my friend's android can play the game just fine using my home's wifi network.
    Please help me fix this.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list

  • Why can't I see my home WiFi network?

I have had my iPod touch for almost two years and have had no trouble with it - until today.  I am presently not connected to the internet through my home WiFi network and can't find my network in Settings/Wi-Fi.  I can see other secure (and non-secure) networks, but not mine.  I am presently sitting right beside my AirPort Extreme and am connected to it with my laptop.  So the Wi-Fi station is working.  My iPod has the same settings it has always had (Wi-Fi is on and Ask to Join Networks is off).  How can it see other networks by not my own?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    Is it this problem?
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

  • I Just bought a ipad 2 and I can conect to my home wifi but I cant connect to any free hotspots. my ipad shows the network and connection but I can't get any web pages.

I Just bought a IPAD2 and I can connect to my home wifi but I can't connect to any free hotspots. My Ipad shows the connections but I can't get any web pages. what do I do?

Many free wi-fi hotspots require that you register first - agreeing to their terms and conditions, etc. This is usually provided via a web page with Safari provided immediately after connecting. If the register page is provided via Flash, you won't see it and you won't be able to register.
