Homebrew mysql error in /var/log/system.log

I'm using homebrew version 0.9. I'm getting the following mysql error in /var/log/system.log:
Jun  9 15:37:21 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[
215]
(homebrew.mxcl.mysql[990]): posix_spawn("/usr/local/bin/mysqld_safe",
...): No such file or directory
Jun  9 15:37:21 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[215]
(homebrew.mxcl.mysql[990]): Exited with code: 1
Jun  9 15:37:21 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[215]
(homebrew.mxcl.mysql): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
I have since deleted mysql (sudo brew remove mysql) and rebooted the
computer and still getting this error.
Can anyone please tell me how to fix these issues.
Thanks.

Look in each of the following directories for an item with "mysql" in the name, delete it, and reboot:
~/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons

  • Sony ereader error in /var/log/system.log

I have had a sony ereader software installed which I deleted long time ago (by pressing command-delete from applications). But still getting error in /var/log/system.log
    [0x0-0xf00f].com.sony.ebook.readerlibrarylauncher[276]: MacInterfacesChangedCallback: 1 keys changed
I have these two items in the /Library/
    /Library//LaunchAgents/com.sony.ReaderDesktop.RunReaderDesktop.plist
    /Library//LaunchAgents/com.sony.ReaderLibrary.RunReaderLibrary.plist
Not sure if I need to delete them.
The sony ereader software doesn't start during system startup. I have deleted two unticked entry from sysetm preferences - users and groups - login items.
    Thanks.

I don't use my eReader very often and so a while back I figured out how to do this and today I had forgotten how!! So here's to help you and I and every other dummy who keeps forgetting!
        Sony eReader with Mac:
How to put ebooks on reader when Error appears
    1. First you buy your ebook(s) and download it to your Reader Library.
    2. It goes to Status then into your Library.
    3. Now go to Finder your book should be in the recent/Today section in epub form.
    4. Open another Finder by going to File and New Finder Window.
    5. In the new Window open Reader under devices.
    6. Continue opening database/media/books.
    7. Finally take the new ebook from the first Window and put it in the second Window.
    8. DONE! And ENJOY!!

  • Apache and My SQL won't start when server starts, error in /var/log

    OS X Server 10.4.6
Everything looks OK, but when I restart the server, Apache does not restart.
The var/log/system contains the following line:
SystemStarter[965]: Apache web server (1002) did not complete successfully
    /etc/hostconfig contains the following lines:
    MYSQL=-YES-
    WEBSERVER=-YES-
What is the standard OS X boot sequence that should start it? i.e. what script gets executed during boot?
If I start by hand (Server Admin), it runs fine.
    _mike

Check /var/log/httpd/error_log after a restart, it will probably have more info about what went wrong with Apache.
Both Apache and MySQL use startupitem scripts located in /System/Library/StartupItems.
The fact that they start up fine manually, several seconds later, probably means that some prerequisite isn't quite ready when they try to start. A quick kludge that will quite probably work would be to put like a 10 second delay in their scripts with the following line at the top of the StartService section:
    sleep 10

  • Errors in /var/log/alf.log?

When I look in /var/log/alf.log all I see is entries like this:

    What does it mean?
socketfilterfw shows up in the Activity Monitor, so it appears that Apple's application firewall is not completely dead. How would I best test whether it is functioning properly?

    1) lxdm is in /usr/sbin
    [dean@PsyMadness ~]$ which lxdm
    /usr/sbin/lxdm
    2) AFAIK lxdm does not use .xinitrc
edit: Maybe you are trying to run /usr/bin/lxdm (which doesn't exist) in inittab and the correct one in DAEMONS in rc.conf

    Hi,
    #h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.cssd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
by commenting above line in initttab file would stop messaging, is this would have any adverse affect on the database. As its a production server, so i am really taking time to resolve it. Your suggestions are welcome. If there is no harm in commenting the above line then i would go forward to comment that line.
    Thanks

RAC crashed this morning with following errors in ASM log
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:semget failed with status: 28
ORA-27301: OS failure message: No space left on device
    ORA-27302: failure occurred at: sskgpsemsper
Found blog notes to up the semaphores in the kernel. http://arjudba.blogspot.ie/2008/09/database-startup-fails-with-ora-27302.html
bumped up to the following as per note but didnt fix
    from: kernel.sem = 256 32000 100 128
    to: kernel.sem = 256 32768 100 228
then tried 258 - didnt work
found another blog note that said to try 288 and that DID work so appears to be a semaphore issue. 2 questions:
1: How can this happen all of a sudden? no changes on box for last 5-6 weeks, nothing else running except RAC.
    2. Error in /var/log/messages log file. RAC came down at 10:02, messges in the log file from 10:01, must be related. anyone know what they are? Looks like storage to me.

Why do you think it's a problem with kernel semaphores?
There are 2 other issues that I suggest to look into first:
SCSI layer issued Device Reset (0, 23)
ORA-27301: OS failure message: No space left on device
To me this looks like a hardware problem with your EMC storage
Also please provide exact details about your OS version and system.See the errors in the ASM first of all. A few notes are thrown up when we look for those errors. Upping the semaphores resolved. My task now is to get to root cause.
    versions: x86_64 2.6.18-194.el5
While increasing the semaphores resolved, I too think it looks like a problem with the storage as we get the same issue in the messages fil eon both nodes at same time.

  • ICal doesn't show delegation, and generates date and time error messages in /var/log/system.log

I have a problem with my iCal, when I use my caldav account, I can only see my own calendar on my MBA, on my co-workers MBP it works fine with both my account and his. My co-worker can't see other calendars than his own when he uses iCal on my laptop.
We can reproduce this problem on his computer by setting Location to Automatic rather than Amsterdam, then after deleting iCal's cache files, the caldav account and setting the Location back to Amsterdam solves the problem for him.
It does not solve the problem for me (or several other co-workers). We've been looking at this for a few weeks, and we can not find any clear pattern why certain machines have this problem and others don't.
All machines (both affected and unaffected) are running Mac OS 10.7.2 with iCal 5.0.1
I've spoken to Apple support over the phone (in the Netherlands), unfortunately, they couldn't help with this.
So far we've tried numerous location and language settings, but on affected machines nothing appears to solve the delegation problem (which we assume to be connected to the error messages iCal generates)
Starting iCal yeilds the following error messages in /var/log/system.log:

There's been not impact on the system performance when FireWire davices(iPod 3G & 30Gb HD via FW enclosure) are connected and being used. Any ideas were these messages are coming from.

I'm having a hard time analyzing where this problem come from.
Immediately after upgrading to 10.4.11, I thought the messages had disappeared and my hard drive was finally working correctly. I mounted it correctly and transferred about 7GB with no problem at all.
However, some time later I connected the hard drive again and got a hard crash (finder, the applications freeze with no recovery => hard reboot). This was while the console was outputting the "Firewire GUID XXX is invalid!" message.
Hardware Test returns no error. Here is a sample log I got when connecting the drive, a while back:

  • Lots of error in server's system log

I just installed SAPNetWeaver04_SP16Preview in a fresh Windows 2003 SP1. I am running it in VMware 1.0.3. I assigned VM 924MB RAM, 32GB hard drive and 2 Processors. Running JDK 1.4.2_09
After installation, I start the <b>J2E</b> from <b>SAP Management Console</b>. After the server is completely running. I look at the log (<i>\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\system\logging.0.log</i>). It is 1600KB now. I see a lot of similar errors. They are all from com.sap.tc.logging.FileLogInfoData
I post the very first one here

Not sure if they are related. However, I don't have folder with is "<b>C:\tmp\</b>". I only have "<b>C:\TEMP\</b>". I checked the system variables, "%TEMP%" and "%TMP" are point to "%SystemRoot%\TEMP".
So how can I fix all exception in the logs. What should I look at first? My goal is to use SAP logging. I tried on the other system and what I got is similar error from FileLogInfoData. So I thought I may mess up the setting. I install on the fresh OS, I have no clue now. Any suggestion would help.

    Hi,
    1.Try using latest JDK,j2sdk1.4.2_13.
2.Check if environment variables <b>JAVA_HOME</b> and <b>path</b> are set correctly
3.Check if there is sufficient space in installation drive.
4.try connecting to database and see if data logs are full.remove unnecessary logs in database.
5.manually start all services through telnet or visual admin.
    reward points if helpful.........

upgrading to osx 10.6.8 fails. I see errors in the /var/log/install.log of "An unexpected error occurred while moving files to the final destination." Underlying Error=(Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=5 "The operation couldn’t be completed. Input/out. Any thoughts on what is causing these errors and the upgrade failure?
    Thanks

I have no idea what the specific error code means but input/output errors can sometimes mean a disk is failing. Make a couple of backups of all important data before doing anything else.
Verify your startup disk using the First Aid tab in Disk Utility. If the disk needs repair boot from your Leopard DVD and repair your disk from Disk Utility under Utilities on the screen after you choose your language. Repeat the repair process until Disk Utility reports all is well.
If Disk Utility doesn't find any errors you might want to try a new download of the update and keep a sharp eye on your HD for anything else that might indicate all is not well. Take special care to back up important data.
If Disk Utility finds errors it would probably be a good idea to pay a visit to the Apple Store to have them check out your hard drive even if Disk Utility is able to repair the errors.

  • Promoto to OD Master - errors in slapconfig.log and slapd.log

After a lot of promoting to OD Master and demoting to Standalone I have finally a OD Master that seems like it's working.
At least I can bind my clients to it and then (after reboot of the client) work with networked home-dirs Smile.
BUT I have a couple of entries in my logs that I have not seen in the testserver (I had no problems with setting up a testserver as an OD Master on a test-LAN…)

Before I made the (almost?) successfull promotion to OD Master I did:
    - Make sure reverse DNS is working
    - Made the server's Network Preferences DNS server point to 127.0.0.1
    - Set the hostname via "sudo scutil --set HostName"
    - /etc/hostconfig contains "HOSTNAME=-AUTOMATIC-"
    - The server is running DNS, AFP, Web, MySQL & Mail
    - How serious are the errors I can see in the logs?
    - How an I fix them?

    G5 dual 2.0 GHz, Mac SE and a lot more…   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

the message "kadmin.local: unable to get default realm" indicates that your
/Library/Preferences/edu.mit.Kerberos file is missing or incorrect.
Using workgroup manager look at the KerberosClient record (you may need to go into the preferences and set the "show all records" checkbox), look in the XMLPlist attribute for an xml representation of the edu.mit.Kerberos file.
as root on the OD Master, run klist -k to view keytabs (there should be 3 mostly identical entries for each service)
also as root on the OD Master, run kadmin.local -q "listprincs" to view the principals in the kdc.
    Hope this gets you started
