HomeFusion Blocking Youtube Videos?

The past week or so I have been unable to play YouTube video's on any of my home PC's. Video's on all kinds of other sites are fine, and the webpage for YouTube video's are instant loaders, but hit play, and NOTHING. Seems only the video feed from YouTube is blocked. It seems rather convenient that this only started happening after youtube won that lawsuit to censor the internet for personal profit.
I did see another page that mentioned Verizon FiOS and problem with youtube, Verizon tried to claim it wasn't their fault (Right,...) but that blocking certain IP's would fix it, well, I blocked those IP ranges and still doesn't work.
Anyone know how to get around Verizon's blocking of youtube content?

I'm having the same problem. Youtube will not play videos. Started Wednesday last week, but only affected my laptop (Win7). Friday, my Linux desktop stopped. Yesterday my Win7 desktop. Today, my wife's laptop. Took my laptop to the McDonalds down the road and the SAME videos play fine on their WIFI. Same thing at the coffee shop I frequent. My verizon phone plays them fine UNTIL I connect to my HF WIFI. Then, they stall. When I disconnect from my WIFI and go back to my phone's 4G, they start up again.
Looks pretty suspicious to me. Maybe HF customers are the guinea pigs in verizon's experiments with throttling bandwidth. Pretty small customer base to **** off as opposed to FIOS or verizon DSL users.
I just tested the following video sites, and ALL worked flawlessly on my laptop that refuses to play youtube videos:
ted.com
bigthink.com
atom.com
blip.tv
on.aol.com
wwitv.com
hulu.com
vimeo.com
ustream.tv
comedycentral.com
nbc.com/video
nbcnews.com
abc.go.com
They all use flash. Most use v 10..x.x.xx. Some use 12.x.x.xx. I have 12.0.0.43 on my laptop.

  • When I try to play youtube video I get the message of blocked plug-in, and I can not play video using Safari. (Youtube works fine with google chrome) I tried installing flash player HTML5 etc... but still no difference.

    I just installed OSX Mountian Lion, and ever since then I can not play youtube video's. I get the message of 'Blocked Plug-in' in the youtube screen. I have tried installing Adobe Flash Player. HTML 5, also tried enabling/disabling java, but nothing worked out. Is there any way I can play youtbe vieos on Safar. (It works fine with Google Chrmoe, only safari has problem)

    If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
    It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
    Try uninstalling the currently installled Flash plugin (required for most YouTube content) then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
    From your Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
    Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
    Now from the menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches

  • Youtube videos blurry with blocks of color

    I am wondering if anybody else has been having the same problem when using Youtube on their iPod touch. When I go to view a video, the video will play unclearly. There would be blocks of red, green, blue around floating around.
    Might this have to do with my WiFi connection?

    Some YouTube videos are just plain bad.
    Check on your computer to see if the same one is better on your PC/Mac.

  • Why haven't I been able to watch YouTube videos for months? :(

    I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this issue I've been having...
    I have an older MacBook Pro (bought July 2007) running OS 10.4.11, that hasn't been able to access YouTube or YouTube videos for the past several months. When trying to access the website on Firefox or Safari, the page takes forever to load and I get the "Connection has timed out" error. I've tried loading it on several different wireless connections, none of which should have any firewalls/proxies set. Embedded YouTube videos don't show up (there's just a blank space where they should be), and embedded HD YouTube videos will show the first frame but will not load or play.
    I've never had any problems with YouTube before, but didn't turn my computer on between Feb and May of this year (I was traveling). I figured I must have missed some important update. But I'm currently running the most recent versions of Firefox (3.6.9) and Safari (4.0.3), Adobe Flash (10.1), Quicktime (7.6.4), and Java (v9 for OS 10.4). Updating these hasn't helped any. I also reinstalled Firefox entirely.
    I don't have any issues loading any other websites, or playing/viewing other kinds of embedded videos, or any other videos. As far as I can tell, my internet browsers don't have any firewalls or blocks set up. Other laptops and desktops on the same wireless connections I've tried can access the site and embedded videos without issue.
    Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I could try? I'd love to be able to get back on YouTube...
    thank you in advance!
    -Ann

    I understand that you can not access youtube website at all .. this can be due to a variety of reasons ..
    what you describe looks like a dns resolution error .. try this
    go to terminal and type
    sudo nano /Private/Etc/Hosts
    you will be prompted for your password ..enter it and note that your input won't be visible ..
    if all goes well you will see something like this :
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1 localhost
    if you see that try adding these lines EXACTLY AS YOU SEE underneath that page
    74.125.43.103 youtube.com
    74.125.43.103 www.youtube.com
    and press control and X together on your keyboard
    now back at the terminal type exit and hit return
    reboot your machine ..
    see how it goes
    hope this helps

  • Why am suddenly unable to view YouTube Videos on Firefox. I am still able to view on Internet Explorer

    I am not able to view any YouTube videos on YouTube or Facebook whilst using Firefox. My Flash Player/Plugin/Shockwave Player & Javascript are all the most recent and all show as up to date and working. On selecting a video to view I now have a blank screen which I have right clicked on & notice there is an Adhoc Plus - Block Image message and wonder if this should be there as this is not the case when viewing through Internet Explorer (which still allows me to view all videos & shows that I have Flash Player installed when I right click on the same screen). I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled to see if this would solve the problem but this has made no difference. I have also noticed on my Firewall that Javascript is not showing as an Exception and changed this to find that this has made no difference either. I am now at a complete loss - can anyone help me please as I would like to keep using Firefox. Many thanks

    There are a number of active threads concerning the latest Flash player plugin (11.3) and the latest Firefox (13). Not all users are experiencing the same issues, but things to check include the following:
    - Conflict with Realplayer Browser Record plugin (to disable this, open Add-ons from the orange Firefox button or the classic Tools menu and look under the Extensions and Plugins categories)
    - Conflict with Flash 11.3 Protected Mode (see [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 Adobe Forums: How do I disable Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?])
    Scanning down the front of the forums probably will yield additional suggestions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions

  • I have windows 8.1 and firefox won't play youtube videos but IE will

    I have windows 8.1 and firefox won't play youtube videos but IE will. I have tried reinstalling firefox, flash, java. Resetting firefox don't help, disabled hardware acceleration, protected mode 0 in the mms.cfg file. Nothing will play on youtube in firefox. It says "an error has occured, please try again later". The ads play fine though. Everything plays fine in IE. I have tried different versions of flash also with no luck. I even restored the system to a previous iso image with no luck. Does anyone have a solution?

    It maybe because your javascript is disabled .
    You can check the javascript.enabled pref on the about:config page.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
    There are also extensions that can block JavaScript or otherwise interfere.
    https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
    Or,
    "Clear the Cache":
    Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    Start Firefox in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Safe Mode] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
    '''''Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.'''''

  • A mask in front of a YouTube video?

    Hi,
    Does anybody know how I can make an oval mask in front of a YouTube video?
    Mayanda

    Sure, you can overlay an iframe if you like. It just takes a little more effort than normal.
    Place your video iframe into an absolute positioned <div>.
    Place a second iframe holding <div> that points to a page with just the image on it after the video iframe in the source. Use the same absolute position as the video iframe.
    Use a javascript show/hide script and link to turn off/on the covering <div>
    Seems to work in all the modern browsers (including IE 7 and 8 modes of IE9) on this end. I just used a blank page with a background color set to red for the test-cover-youtube.html page in this code...
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

    <script type="text/javascript">
        function show(id)
        {document.getElementById(id).style.display = 'block';}
        function hide(id)
        {document.getElementById(id).style.display = 'none';}
        function toggle(id)
        {if(document.getElementById(id).style.display == "none")
        {document.getElementById(id).style.display = "block";}
        else{document.getElementById(id).style.display = "none";}}
    </script>
    <title>Test iFrame Overlay</title>
    <style type="text/css">
    #text {
        position:absolute;
        top:335px;
    #cover {
        position:absolute;
        z-index:2;
    #video {
        position:absolute;
        z-index:1;
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="video"><iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mlHPxTJqUxU" frameborder="0"></iframe></div>
    <div id="cover"><iframe width="420" height="315" src="test-cover-youtube.html" frameborder="0"></iframe></div>
    <div id="text"><a href="#" onclick="toggle('cover');">toggle cover div</a></div>
    </body>
    </html>
    EDIT: I cut out some extra code that I was using during testing that shouldn't have any affect on the sample page.

  • My macbook keeps crashing while viewing youtube videos

    I have version 10.4.11 Each time I try to watch a Youtube video it will shut down after only a few minutes of viewing. What can I do to correct this?

    The whole computer shuts down, or just the browser? If it's the whole computer then it is probably overheating (video places heavy demand on the CPU). There's a few utilities that were just mentioned in another post very, very recently you can use to monitor temperatures (if your computer supports them) [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2359432]. Check to make sure your computer is being adequately vented (no dust, not sitting on lap or surface blocking vents).
    If it is just the browser then it's probably something else, but let us know which.

  • This animation will not work, neither does embeded youtube videos

    So this site https://www.navo.navy.mil/cgi-bin/animate.pl/metoc/74/84/0-0-17/0 animation does
    not work (in either FF or Safari on mac, works great on any browser on xp).
    Anyone know why???
    Also, if I try to look at a embeded youtube video it shows a black screen unless I scroll so that the
    video is partially blocked (top or bottom).
    Anyone?

    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
    If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
    Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • How to play youtube videos on apple tv

    How do you play youtube videos and stuff from the interent thru Apple TV????  Oh, and how about a Dvd presentation??

    There is a Youtube app on the Apple TV.
    Other internet content would need to be through Airplay (IOS device) or mirroring (recent IOS devices or Macs)
    DVD's are tricky, natively they are blocked (through mirroring) but users have reported success with VLC

  • YouTube videos that previously played no longer supported

    My 2-year olds beloved youtube video is "no longer supported on iPad". He would watch this video to bits, but as of this morning I get the pop-up that this video is no longer supported for playing on iPad. (or my iphone, triedit there too). I understand from googling, that some videos won't play because they have not been supported for iPad/iPhone yet, but videos that previously played fine??? I tested my toddlers other fav videos, and it is only the video in question that is affected. What gives?

    That link doesn't work, however, looking up the movie "Banana (complete video!)" on youTube using on my iMac I get the message:
    This video contains content from NBC Universal, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.
    Sorry about that.
    When trying to see this video on the youTube App on the iPad I just get the dialog "Could not load movie". iPad Safari just transfers this URL to the youTube App with the same result.
    There are other youTube versions of this movie around (at least until NBC Universal learns about them and blocks them as well).
    I suppose the youTube App could be a little more informative as to why it can't display the movie.
    Send suggestions to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • YouTube videos a black screen an no play button since installing Flash10. Firefox 3.6.14 and OS X.4.11 What to do?

    Hi
    Re Mac intel... Firefox updated to 3.6.14 and advised Flash 10 be installed. I did this and now on YouTube videos all I see is a black screen with no play or pause button. System is OS X10.4.11
    Do I need to uninstall Firefox and re load an earlier version and an earlier version of Flash etc... will I lose my bookmarks and firebug? If so not worth it.
    Would really appreciate help so sad not to be able to view any YouTube. Many thanks, Clare

    Hi again - since writing the above I have posted on Adobe>Webplayer>Flash forum the following request and will post on here if I receive a reply that works:
    Firefox updated to 3.6.14 and then advised Flash 10 be installed. I did this and now on YouTube videos all I see is a black screen with no play or pause button. System is OS X10.4.11 Have now followed Adobe instructions to Uninstall Flash player on system and then Install Flash 10. But still at YouTube Safari says Flash 10 is needed and in FF shows a black box only. I use Intego virus barrier but this has never blocked an update before. Flash is enabled in Firefox and Safari.
    eldnolb at Adobe forum advised: Go to this site and right click on the Flash logo, Settings, Display Settings. UNcheck the hardware acceleration.
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    But when I go to this page no logo appeared for me to right click on, which again means that Flash player is not working... so I could not access Settings, Display Settings, Uncheck etc. Was advised to start a new Mac entitled thread. Clare
