Homehub 2.0b - lost admin password
It's a long story that I won't bore you with, but at the end of it I ended up with a Homehub 2.0 model B with no sticker on the back. Being the model B the password isn't repeated on the bottom label, so I'm now stuck without admin access.
Is there any way of getting the password from BT, or is the router good for nothing but the bin?
Mike
Solved!
Go to Solution.
Hey - I've fixed it - and this will work for others:
On the bottom label of the Homehub 2.0B is a 2D barcode - it's in DATA_MATRIX format (i.e. not a QR code).
In desperation I got an app called "Barcode Reader" from the Android Market for my Hero. It decoded the barcode and produced 5 separate text strings, separated by slashes. The second one appears to be the wireless key, the third is the serial number, and the fifth is the default admin password. I've now been able to log into the hub and change the password.
Hallelujah!

Lost admin password for SPA-941
Hi all,
I asked this question on community/netpro/collaboration-voice-video/ip-telephony, but was told that it was the wrong place to do it. I don't know how to move a post, so I'm asking again here (I hope I got it right this time).
The short version: how to reset/disable admin password in SPA-941 phone?
The long version:
I have an IP Phone SPA-941 --- bought it on eBay with 'lost admin password'. I've found somewhere on the Internet that it's possible to reset the phone to 'factory defaults', which is supposed to reset the admin password as well (which is why I bought the phone with this 'warning'). However, the 'information', failed to mention, that the factory reset is protected by the said administrator password.
Now, I have a bit of a problem since without this password, the phone is useless --- I cannot configure my SIP account there.
I cannot believe that loosing the admin password could yield a device unusable, so I presume that there must be a way to reset/recover password.
I have found somewhere a tool to upgrade firmware. I tried it.... Not surprisingly, it requires the admin password. However, it also prints a very promising message: "If you are the administrator and forgot the password, you may perform a factory reset by entering ****, option 73738#, and value 1 from a telephone connected to the unit to be upgraded.". I have no idea what the 'option' might be and the 'value 1'... I also do not know what they mean by 'telephone connected to the unit to be upgraded' --- this seems to indicate that the upgrade tool (or message) isn't meant for a phone, but for some other device to which a phone is to be connected.
I also found some discussions about the jumpers (JP1 and JP4) in the printed board of the phone. I tried all of possible combinations and none of them caused the phone to be any less demanding in terms of admin password (if it booted at all).
I also found some kind of 'recovery software'. It is supposed to 'recover' firmware to a version 4.1.x (I have 5.1.8 now but I assume that I'd be able to upgrade it back again when the 'downgrading' removes password). There are two options --- one is for 'normal' upgrade (well.. downgrade in this case), which requires admin password.
The second option is the 'recovery' --- it requires serial number. When I choose this one, the program warns me that it's only meant for phones displaying SOS message... I tried it regardless (what do I have to loose?), but the 'device couldn't be found'. Perhaps there is a way of corrupting the phone and entering this SOS-state?
This, for the moment used up my ideas as how to use my phone. In desperation I'm trying the brute-force 'attack' --- I'm able to check about 1k passwords in 60s... I've found in some docs, that passwords can be 63 character long alphanumeric strings, which means that I should be able to check all of the combinations in something about 264646141002173127075674008932259139731080369373079015446569116064180887885670843 years, so I'll not hold my breath. In the meanwhile... Please help. Is there a way to 'crack' the phone and reset the admin password?Hi Michal,
From what you describe, it appears that the original service provider properly locked down the phone. If they really did, then brute force is the only way ahead.
There are no backdoors in the SPA phones or ATAs. The idea being that a service provider can easily recover from a lost password by simply reprovisioning a device with a new or blank password. Many service providers give the SPA devices away and then sell a service, this is why they allow the customer to keep the device when the service is terminated.
I read articles where if so inclined, as you appear to be, you can set up a private network to replicate the original service provider's network, including DNS. Then, using a protocol analyzer, you watch to see how the SPA device behaves and what it looks for. I've read that if you devote enough time to this exercise, you could build the files that make the phone believe it is on its home network and then provision it with a blank password.
Or, you could buy a shiny new SPA5xx or SPA3xx phone with many more features, current firmware, and get to spend the time doing something else.
Best of luck, either way.

Hello .
We lost the Admin Password .......
So I proceeded like this:
1.- Logged into the database as SYSDBA
2.- Changed the APEX user’s password, in this occurence the username was: APEX_040000
3.- Once logged as APEX_040000 I set the security group id to 10:
exec wwv_flow_api.set_security_group_id(p_security_group_id=>10);
4.- Created a new ADMIN user to gain access:
exec wwv_flow_fnd_user_api.create_fnd_user(p_user_name => ‘tempo_admin’, p_web_password => ‘tempo_admin’) ;
And we are unable to use tempo_admin as Admin user .....
Any sugestion ......
Thanks in Advance ....
EduardoGo to Apex root directory (the one that contains APEXINS.SQL). From the command prompt, connect as SYS to the database.
Now run APXXEPWD.SQL (it changes the password for the INTERNAL ADMIN user).
The output looks like this:
SQL> @apxxepwd
Session altered.
...changing password for ADMIN
Enter value for 1: Newpwd1_
Enter value for 1: Newpwd1_
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
Commit complete.
SQL>Now you should be able to connect to Apex as an admin. -

HAD PROBLEM INSTALLING LOOKOUT 6.0.2. LOST ADMIN PASSWORD.
I have been emailing Ryan Shi about a Lookout OPC fieldpoint problem where
OPC fieldpoint stops communicating. He has informed me that there is a patch but I have to install lookout6.0.2. I had a problem doing this.
I was able to load the new version of lookout but the administrator password was altered during the install. I restored my system to an earlier version. How can I perform this update without this problem occuring?
Thanks,
GeneGene,
What's your current lookout version?
If it is 6.0.0 or 6.0.1, you'd better install 6.0.2 first and then apply the patch. Before you install 6.0.2, backup this file C:\WINDOWS\system32\lookout.sec and then delete it. The installation will generate a new lookout.sec file with empty password. The admin password by default is empty. What you need to do next is to reset all the users and passwords.
In general, the password is stored in lookout.sec and won't be changed during uninstall and install, however maybe your lookout.sec is corrupted.

Lost admin password for imac OSX 10.8.2
HY I CAN'T REMEMBER MY ADMIN PASSWORD..WHAT I CAN DO? I CAN'T INSTALL ANY NEW PROGRAM! PLEASE HELP ME!
Follow the instructions in the beige and green boxes.
http://pondini.org/OSX/Password.html
Note
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.

Lost Admin Password - now Keychain problems after resetting pass.
So I was unable to login to OS X Lion 10.8.4, following the instruction here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5118960
So I followed the instructions there, restarted, and was prompted and allowed access to the Admin account, however now I am being asked for Keychain access, something called Messages Agent, etc. and no matter how many times I click Cancel (because it's the old password I do not know) it just comes back.
What do I do now? From the linked article.
If the login password was reset because the user forgot the old password, the keys, passwords, and other information in the keychain will not be accessible, andthe user will need to create a new keychain.
Keychain - About your keychain password
You'll have to add all your passwords back in the new keychain.

How can I recover a lost Admin password?
My 97-year old mother-in-law received a Mac PowerBook G4 as a gift, running Mac OS X (10.4.11). She uses it mainly to send and receive email. I wanted to install a printer driver so she can print. Could not install the driver because password for Administrator was required. We don't know the password. HELP says we can reset the password using the install disk, but we don't have the disk. I have also downloaded software to give her access to a new wireless home network, but I need the password to install that as well.
You need to do this from an admin account which the user may not have.
Change Password
Mac OS X:
You do not have a CD/DVD
Changing password from single user mode:
You can also change the administrator's password from single user mode or create a new administrator account.
You need to get into single use mode for steps one and two that are listed below.
This page will tell you how to get into single user mode.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492
Basically, you hold down the command-s key then powering on your machine. The command key has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar. On a PC keyboard, it will be the windows key, I think.
1) You can change the password on an account. ( Do you know Unix. You are in a Unix single user console. ) The setup commands you need should be listed on the screen. For Mac OS 10.4.11, the commands are:
# Type the follow two instructions to access the startup disk in read/write:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
# Start up some utility processes that are needed.
sh /etc/rc
# You will probably need to press the return key once the system stops typing.
# To find out the users on the system type, use the list command. The l is a lower case L:
ls /Users
# One of these accounts will be the administrator.
# Pick one of the users which I'll call a-user-name and type it in this command:
passwd a-user-name
# and enter the new user password. You need six characters.
# You will need to enter your password twice. Your typing will not show up on the screen just
# press enter when you complete the typing.
# For cryptic information on these commands try:
man ls
man passwd
The root account isn't enabled by default. I am not sure if changing the password on root will enable it. -

I lost my emac G4 installation disk, how can i get my admin password back?
Here's one method to reset the password without the install disc:
1. boot computer and hold the "apple" key and the "s" key.
2. wait for terminal show
3. release keys
4. type without the quotes: "/sbin/mount -uaw"
5. press enter
6. type without the quotes: "rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
7. press enter
8. type without the quotes: "reboot"
9. press enter
This will let you create a new admin account when you reboot your computer.
Also, without the discs, look at Mac OS X Tip - No Password, No Root, No CD? No Problem.

Here is a way to get around not knowing the admin password on Macs.
To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:

3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
* mount -uw /
* rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
* shutdown -h now
4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!

ISE upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2.1 - lost CLI admin password?
Hi,
In a mysterious way I lost CLI Admin password in whole my ISE deployment (6 PSN, 1 ADM and 1 MNT node). I wondering how it is possible? Last time I logged to the nodes when I upgrade my deployment from ISE 1.1 to 1.2.1. Is this possible that I could lost password during this upgrade?
Regards
GunterHello Gunter-
You should have not lost/locked the admin account due to the upgrade. Nonetheless, you will have to follow the CLI password recovery procedure:
