Homehub 2 reboots on connection to hub manager

Using firefox/ie8, over both wifi and lan crashes the router.  Have used all of bthomehub.hom and http://192.168.1.254/ and 192.168.1.254.  I have rebooted laptop/hub reset hub for < 15 and > 15 seconds and used a second computer.
None of these work.  Suggestions?

there is a know problem with hhv2 that when you access the adsl stats the hub sometimes reboots - it is currently being investigated by BT tech support - and has been for what appears ages

Cannot connect since I renamed my 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels.
    I used a space and bracket which I don't think works - i.e. BTHomeHub (2.4GHz)
However I cannot now access the Home Hub Manager to rename the networks.
I have tried to access via:

    bthomehub.home

I suggest you try a factory reset of the hub

  • Hub Manager does not show Wireless connection

My 'Hub Manager' shows my Ethernet connected PC; my hub phone and the wireless connected printer.
My daughter has a new laptop which has wireless connection to my Hub. According to her laptop it is connected to my Hub and she has access to the internet.
However, my Hub Manager does not show her as connected to the Hub. The result of this means that she cannot connect to the wireless printer.
We have disconnected and re connected to no avail.
    Any thoughts??? All help appreciated.

  • Problem with password in home hub manager

    Hi
I have a pc and a laptop connected wirelessly to homehub 3. connection is fine having swapped the hub for a new one.
The problem I have now is that when i go into hh manager on the laptop, I cannot enter a password to get to settings.
I get admin as user and cursor won't work  in password panel.
On the pc it works fine. It's no biggy as I can acess settings on the pc but anyone know why it is happening?
This is the screen I get. Different to the usual one.
To prevent unauthorised access, your BT Home Hub's settings are protected by a password. To change the settings in your BT Hub Manager, you'll need to enter your admin password, then click the 'OK' button on this page. Please remember the password is case sensitive.

Swapped from a what version hub? It does sound like you may of been using a v1 or v1.5 hub prior to using the hub3
What happens if you go to saved passwords on your laptop, locate the 'admin' one, make a note of it just in case and delete it. Does this allow you to access the hub manager now?

  • Problem with "Home Network" in hub manager

    Hi everyone,
I had a bit of an issue with my homehub this week where some prolonged decorating caused the hub to be unplugged for most of the day. When the hub was plugged in again it appeared to have performed a factory reset. Now over the past day or two it has had the odd issue that I've needed to sort. My main issue is that currently the "Home Network" option with the Home Hub manager will cause the router to reset and drop connection, however it is only this page. Also the router isn't responding to requests to bthomehub.home and I have to use the IP. I've done a factory reset through the hub manager and set up all my previous settings as were previously, but the lack of access to the "Home Network" page is still a problem and is getting to be frustrating because I have a chromecast unable to connect without being able to turn off smart setup.
Details of my home hub below, any input would be lovely.
BT Home Hub 5 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.173.1.6

have you tried a factory reset but using the recessed button on back and holding for 20/30 secs until the lights flash?

  • BT Home Hub Manager problems.

    Hello BT,
I am currently having problems connecting to the BT Home Hub Manager.
    I have tried the following:
    api.home
    192.168.1.254
    http://bthomehub.home/
These all end up with the connection timing out because it's taking too long to respond. All other websites are working fine and well for me. I've also tried this on Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari web browsers.
Also, I have asked a few other people in my area I know who are with BT and they are not getting the same problem as me.
    Kind regards,
    Ryan.
    Solved!

The HH internals sometimes get in a tangle, and if you happen to have made any changes to the various settings, that can sometimes compound matters.
Try doing a Factory Re-set (paperclip into small hole at side of hub) and see if that resolves matters. Doing a re-set will remove any settings that you may have applied, so be prepared to make the settings again if necessary. The re-set also restores the default wireless settings which are displayed on a label on the back.
If that does not solve it, you may need to ask for a replacement HH.

  • Hub Manager - what is MAIN?

We have recently used the home hub manager to restrict access to an over zealous teenager.  We have just blocked everything we know is his plus half a dozen things that just have a code but which seem to be his PS3, PSP etc.
There is one item on the list of devices that is just shown as MAIN and we don't know what it is.  It is not either of the 'main' computers in the house as they are separately identified but we don't want to just block it in case it is something we need.  We even wondered if it was the router but surely that can't be it!
Does anyone know if MAIN is always the same thing on the device list and can therefore identify it for us, or can anyone say how we might identify it without it having to be online.  We haven't seen it online so far, but we have been using BT Fon when the teenager has gone overboard and when on BT Fon you can't get into the hub manager.
I hope this makes sense and someone is able to help please
    Thanks

Main is there and is not connected - the only thing connected is my laptop.  I could block it anyway and then find it by process of elimination when I next try to connect something else.
The problem we have found is that although everything else has been blocked and last night we did a minor amount of browsing we somehow used 2GB.  There was no video involed and just a couple of slideshows in a holiday website, nothing more, so we are perplexed.
    You could start there

  • Re: BT HomeHub 3 wifi loses connection

I’ve  had a Home Hub 2 and Infinity for some time and have been really pleased with reliability and performance.
Wanted BT Sport ( and a cheap YouView Box) so subscribed.
YouView Box arrived next day – excellent bit of kit from Humax.
BT supplied Powerline adapters. A doddle to install and all iPlayer stuff working great but BT Sport wouldn’t work on the You View box or on the PC giving me “check your cable type messages etc” or VC017 error message on PC . I knew there was not a cable/broadband connection problem so was planning to implement proposed solutions from forums.
In the meatime, I received an email from BT saying they noted I had BT Sport so needed a Home Hub 3 which they dispatched. It arrived two days later which is pretty good.
Installed HH 3 and BT Sport on YouView box worked fine.
But on PC, I still got  “Unable to playback video: VC017”
Resolution to this specific problem was
Try setting your device to get the time from the internet. Here's how to do this:
    Go to Control panel
    Go to date and time
    Select internet time
If the clock is already set to internet time, unset it and then select it again.
    Re boot your PC (important).
I then got a different problem
"You have reached your maximum number of concurrent streams: VC010"
This is because you have more than two streams running. You can access the BT Sport App and btsport.com on as many supported devices as you like, but can only watch two streams at the same time. Steps to fix the issue:
Stop all streams online or on the App and try again. You may need to wait a few minutes before you can start another stream.
I had no other streams running but then noticed that other WiFi connected devices ( laptops, printer etc) were dropping out. I know it must be WiFi because cable and Powerline connected devices were fine.
The one that got my attention was resolved by the following
Open your web browser and type in
http://bthomehub.home to open the Hub Manager.
If this is the first time you have visited the Hub Manager you will be asked to change the password which is on the removable tab at the back of the H3
Enter your password and find the Channel Selection drop down for either channel 1,6 or 11. I chose Channel 6.
As a result, the WiFi no longer drops out and BT Sport now works on my PC.
BTW, I have a BT supplied YouView box and two purchased (John Lewis of course) Humax YouView boxes in different rooms all on Powerline adaptors, all running BT Sports with no problem.

I had a similar problem, but with my Home Hub 2.
I ran inssider (http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/) found a clear channel and set it to that.
This greatly improved things but not completely.
Anyhow the first thing I did when I got HH3 (and Infinity)..... I deselected the smart wireless and set it to this free/clear channel.
This seems to have completely cured the problem.

  • Connecting BT Hub 3 to a Netgear universal WiFi Ra...

My netgear wifi extender seems connected to my BT Hub 3 but when my iPad tries to connect to the extender wifi it does not accept the wireless key from my BT Hub. Has anyone managed to get this to work ? Thanks.

Yes it will work. No crossover cable is needed as all switches are auto sensing anyway.
If you did not want to run a cable, then you could connect the hub to the switch using Powerline adapters.

  • Lost connection to Hub Error

I just received the IMG 1.6 update yesterday. While streaming DVR to my HD box, I reveive an error "Lost connection to Hub..." the program will then start from the beginning. Anyone else have this problem?

I was having this issue so i called in.  The representative I spoke to was extremely Knowledgable.  He did some research, which took about 20min, and found the answer.  Apparently this is a known issue that has occured with the new IMG update.  He said that the IMG developers know about the problem but do not have a target date for a fix yet.

  • Hudl works OK but doesn't show up on Hub Manager

I recently bought a Hudl tablet and had no difficulty connecting it wirelessly to my HH3. From my desktop PC I noticed that the Hub Manager reports the Wireless Network as "No devices detecetd" (my desktop PC is connected by Ethernet), although it does show if my laptop or any one of my family's three smartphones are present.
It is absolutely 100% certain that the Hudl is using my HH3, and not my BT-Wifi connection or my neighbour's HH3.
    Is this normal?

When you used Fetch to upload, did you upload both the site folder and separate index.html file? If so you need to. You need to upload the site folder and place it in the public_html folder or whatever folder you need to on the server and place the separate index file outside the public_html folder so that it points in towards the site folder. This way, if you then type in http://www.domain.com, your site will come up and you won't need to type in http://www.domain.com/Index to get your site.
There is an index file in the site folder itself, but you need the other index file to point in towards the site if you upload the whole site folder.

  • Desktop pc will not connect to hub anymore.

I have bt hub 4 a few years and no problem. My desktop is wired to the hub and the laptops and 360 are wireless and they all worked fine from day one.
But last weekend by desktop which is wired to the hub just wouldn't connect to the Internet. But everything else wireless is fine.
I have restarted the hub, nothing.
Checked the Ethernet cable and even replaced it and again still nothing.
I have even backed up my desktop and pushed it back 2 factory setting and still nothing.
But all the time the wireless devices are still working.
I have phoned bt up and hey have done a line check and walked me through a few things but nothing still.
I have even but the hub cd that came with it and followed the step by steps but when it trys to detect the hub and pc it says they are not connected when they are.
It's really frustrating now as I can use my desktop to go online.
Has anyone had this problem or know what is wrong and know how I can fix as it's really baffled me and frustrating me now.
    PLEASE HELP!!

Can you confirm the IP address of your hub?  It is likely to be 192.168.1.254.  From a working wireless connection, browse to http://192.168.1.254 and you should see the hub manager page.
Assuming this IS the IP address of the hub, get a command prompt on the wired PC and type
    ping 192.168.1.254
let us know the exact results.
Can you also check the PC network card settings, see what the IP address is set to, gateway IP and DNS server IP addresses.

  • Not possible to open/create a new connection within BT manager on Satellite M40

Bluetooh manager is open and present in system bar.
However it is never possible to open/create a new connection within bluetooth manager as it always say "bluetooh is not ready". Troubleshooting is required but no clear indication is available; button for wireless link is active and I am able to have wifi internet access at the same time.
It is never possible to open access to a PDA or mobile phone for file transfer through bluetooth.
Do i have to reload completely the bluetooth stack or is there another way to troubleshoot the bluetooh system?
Thanks you for replying if possible.

Remove the Bluetooth Monitor software if it is installed. Download the latest BT-stack v5.10.06 here:
    http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/redirect.php?page=pages/download.php
and install it. Ensure that the wireless switch is turned on and the suitable antenna is selected.
Press Fn+F8 key to select BT antenna. Selection menu only appears if WLAN and BT is inside.

  • Error message when connecting trough EM manager

    Hi,
When i want to make a connection trough EM manager i receive the following error message:

Does anyone know what this means, subsequently i get the message:

    Thanks in advance,
    Charles.

As "EM manager" could mean anything, I can't give you a precise answer. But if you simply search on TNS-04404 in metalink you'll get a range of answers.
Judging by the 'Failed to parse tnsnames' message, I'd wager someone has made a hash of editing the tnsnames.ora and left dodgy characters/syntax in it.
