HomeHub 5 - apparent firmware flaws which cause en...

I have had Infinity with a HomeHub 5 for four months. My set up is that I have the HomeHub 5 in the centre of my flat, and my computer and various mobile devices are connected by wifi - 2.4GHz for mobile devices, 5Ghz for the computer (2014 MacBook Pro). The system was rock solid for the first three months: I am only 200 metres from the
A month ago I bought a Western Digital MyCloud Network-attached storage (NAS) device. This was attached directly to the HomeHub 5 by a 20cm Cat 5 network cable, and the connection to the computer was therefore via the HomeHub wifi. I returned the MyCloud because the transfer speed was atrociously slow, and my wifi internet connection kept crashing (hub lights flashing orange, BT error messages popping up on all connected devices).
Presuming the problem was with the MyCloud, I then bought a Synology NAS and a 4GB Seagate NAS hard drive. This does support faster transfers (for the first few minutes that file transfers work), but the hub keeps crashing, 'taking down' the entire router - wifi, internet connection, the lot. Interestingly, this behaviour is repeatable: by simply trying to copy a large number of files from my computer to the NAS. Without fail, after a few minutes, the HomeHub crashes: all devices lose their connection, the hub lights start flashing orange. It takes 5-10 minutes for the hub to reestablish the internet connection, bring up the 2.4GHz network, then finally the 5GHz network. My conclusion is that the HomeHub 5 can not properly route traffic within the LAN (as opposed to simply dealing with internet traffic to/from local devices).
My questions are:
1. I regard this as clearly being a problem with the HomeHub 5: it seems unable to route large volumes of data without crashing. To what extent do you agree or disagree with my analysis?
2. Is this a recognised problem with the HomeHub 5?
3. How can I report this to BT technical support teams so that they can replicate the bugs themselves, and hopefully eradicate them in the HomeHub 6 (and hopefully patch the HomeHub 5 firmware)?
4. Any general comments/suggestions/solutions on how I can actually get my Synology NAS working, without going to the expense of an entire new wifi router to replace what I have already paid for the HomeHub to be doing?
Thank you in advance for any advice and information that you can offer.
Ross

Just noticed this thread. For what it's worth I have a 4 bay Synology NAS with 4 Samsung 2TB drives. This is connected to a HH5B (and was connected previously to a HH5A) without any problems at all. So I would say thay whilst there might be a problem with some HH5s it is not true to say that all HH5s suffer from this problem. Perhaps a particular batch had a duff chip or whatever.

We are having the issue on hundreds of systems and I am rolling out the readiness tool mentioned above to prevent other systems from being affected.  In the mean time I have stopped deploying MS13-098 and am hoping Microsoft will go ahead and let all
of their customers know about the problem instead of just one country.  Hopefully the original bulletin will be updated with this known issue.

    PPoj,
Apple has offered replacement or pro-rated refunds in the US as a settlement of a class action lawsuit, not because of pride in their design-centric approach to their products. If you seek a similar replacement/refund program in India, then the odds are pretty good that you’d need a similar legal approach with which to convince Apple to offer a similar program there. If you’re unwilling to wait for such an event, then you can purchase a replacement power cable now, and hope for a pro-rated refund at some point in the future.

We have a situation like this.
We are consulting company doing consultancy services on Oracle technologies.

How do we figure out the line which caused the error?
We tried putting messages in between, but not have been successful.
    What does that mean exactly?
Typically you would instrument the code (especially for multi-step ETL/transform processes) to capture/log key information.
Also, key sections of code would also be in their own BEGIN/EXCEPTION/END block so that you would know what block caused the exception.

  • When Firefox freezes, how can I shut it down, and re-start it without it automatically going to the site which caused the problem in the first place ?

I have Firefox set so that when I start up, I have it set so that it automatically goes to my home page. However when it freezes, which it does on a daily basis, and I have to shut it down and re-start, it automatically goes to the site which caused the problem in the first place.
If I was a hacker, I would probably find it quite fun to design a virus to reintroduce bugs after they had been exterminated - except that Firefox seem to have got there first.

    Here's how:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes''' preference and enter 0 (that's a zero) and click OK.
When Firefox resumes after a crash, instead of resuming automatically, it will display a list of your previous windows and tabs and you can deselect problem pages.
(This assumes it wasn't a private browsing session.)

  • How to get the error message which causes Synonym Invalid?

    Hi,
    I created a synonym in USER_B for a table in USER_A.
I have given all priveleges to USER_B from USER_A.
I created a package. In that I am using this synonym. Its working fine.

How can I see the error message.?

    Try this:
Go to System Preferences - Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list of devices by pressing the "-" button. Take the batteries out of the keyboard and reinsert them. In Bluetooth Preferences press the '+" button to add the new device. If the keyboard begins to pair, click the word "pair" and type in the passcode. Press return. The keyboard is now paired.
If the mouse is not pairing, try this: shut down the computer completely, unplug any USB mice, then turn off the power to the bluetooth mouse.  ONce the computer starts up again, wait for the pop-up looking for a mouse.  Turn on the power to the bluetooth mouse.  It should work normally now.

Web Acceleration Client Error (513) - Internal Error
The Web Acceleration Client detected an internal error which caused the connection between the Web Acceleration Client and Web Acceleration Server to be broken. Retrying the web page may correct the problem.
I get this error continuously when working in the ancestry.com website. I have to reload the page on almost every search I do on that website. This is the ONLY website that I get this error message on, can work continuously for several hours on other websites and never get this message. I've talked to the people at Ancestry.com support and they made 2 recommendations: turn of antivirus (did not help) or switch to another web browser. I tried both IE 11 and Chrome Version 31.0.1650.63 m and I did not have the problem with either of those 2 browsers getting this error.
Is there a problem with how Firefox and ancestry.com are communicating with each other?

Hello byron.lewis, many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Sql query problem which causes crystal reports in visual studio to freeze

Anyone know why this query posted here freezes up? if i remove  s.enddate IS NULL from the query is when it freezes up. This is used on an infinite campus database for which i only have read only access so no posting anything that requires write access please!

I accisentally dropped my iphone on the ground causing damaged on the

The standard iPhone warranty does not cover accidental damage. Apple will fix it, but they will charge the full repair cost.
The AppleCare+ warranty for the phone, which you can buy within 30 days of the iPhone purchase, does cover two incidents of accidental damage and repairs are charged at $75 I believe.
Your carrier warranty, if you have one, may cover accidental damage - check with them.

  • ((bool) -0.5) mishandled by Sun C 5.9 alpha, which causes configure failure

    In <http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-autoconf/2006-05/msg00027.html>
Bruno Haible reports that Sun C 5.9 alpha for Linux/x86 mishandles the
    following test case:
    #include <stdbool.h>
    char d[(bool) -0.5 == true ? 1 : -1];
This is strictly conforming C99 code, and GCC accepts it, but Sun C
5.9 alpha apparently rejects it with the diagnostic "integral constant
    expression expected".
((bool) -0.5) is an integer constant expression, because bool is an
integer type (Bruno's analysis of this particular point is incorrect,
as you'll be able to see when I post my followup to his email). Hence
Sun C 5.9 alpha is buggy.
This bug causes 'configure' to conclude that Sun C 5.9's
implementation of 'bool' is inadequate, and programs typically use
their own (inferior) substitute for 'bool'.
    Can you please fix this?
    Thanks.
PS. One minor point of terminology. The C standard now uses the term
"integer constant expression", not "integral constant expression". (I
vaguely recall that "integral" was the old term.) So you should
update the wording in your diagnostics.

    Here is a test case.

    - ISO C 99, section 6.2.5 paragraph 17, then implies that _Bool is an integer type.
    - ISO C 99, section 6.6 paragraph 6, defines the term "integer constant
    expression":
An integer constant expression shall have integer type and shall
only have operands that are integer constants, enumeration constants,
character constants, sizeof expressions whose results are integer
constants, and floating constants that are the immediate operands of
casts. Cast operators in an integer constant expression shall only
convert arithmetic types to integer types, except as part of an operand
    to the sizeof operator.
This is practically relevant: These kinds of constructions are used by the
    GNU autoconf AC_HEADER_STDBOOL macro.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 - Does this version fix the bug in Stylize Extrude which causes unwanted horizontal lines in bottom right of resulting graphic?

Correction:  Bottom left of resulting graphic.

FWIW I don't see that, but I don't think I have in any previous version, either. Here's one photo:
But the best thing would be for you to download the trial and see for yourself, since you know best the exact conditions which are causing it for you.

  • External lib call exits on error, which causes Labviews Solaris to exit completely.

I have an external lib which VI's make calls to.
When my function follows the error path, it makes a
call to another lib which does an exit(11).
This in turn causes Labviews 6.0.2 (Solaris 8).
I have the same libs on NT, and Labviews gives a popup
    dialog with an error string.
Anyone know how to prevent Labviews from exiting???
I cannot change the 3rd library.
    Thanks!

You might try to install a signal handler. I don't remember the syntax,
but you have to have a C style function pointer, and you call something
    like InstallSignalHandler.
You might want to install it, call the faulty function, then set it back
    to its initial setting.
