HomeHub 5A - Power Save - Disabling

Hi
I have a Home Hub 5 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204 | Last updated 14/01/15. Connected to the Wi-Fi is a room thermostat I can access from my smartphone. Last week I went on holiday and before returning home I attempted to login to the thermostat and switch the heating on. To my disappointment I could not access the thermostat. On arrival back home to a cold house, the thermostat had no Wi-Fi indicator on. Eventually the thermostat connected to the HH I’m assuming because I arrived home and my phone woke the HH up from powersave. I know the HH has “intelligent” power saving features that cannot be amended but in my case this caused real difficulties in accessing devices back at home. Is there any way this power save can be disabled or do I need to buy a router that isn’t a HH? Or any thoughts on how to keep the Wi-Fi active, obviously the thermostat doesn’t seem to do that.

It may be easier to plug in an additional wireless access point into an Ethernet port of the home hub, and use that wireless connection instead. Thats assuming that the Ethernet does not go to sleep with no actividy.
Something like the TP-Link TL-WA701ND would do the job just fine.
See http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/hardware/TP_link/wa701nd/wa701nd_v2/wa701nd_v2_wiz.html
Use access point mode.

  • 5800 screen blackout - no power saver option

A quite simple complaint - the 5800 screen blacks out after 60 seconds no matter what settings you use. (Latest firmware.) I can't find a power-saver disable anywhere in the options.
I want to be able to use a permanent screen saver display, such as a greyed-out clock on low power display, or the status + time blue and white stripe. This is fine on my older N76 and many other models. Why has this feature been excluded?

    Good Afternoon sarenj,
That must be frustrating when your handset will not respond to your attempts to power it off. Have you verified that the software is up to date? I have included a link below to assist you. The latest version is: 1.26.605.11; Baseband: 1.15.00.0816
    http://bit.ly/yIYT0E
If the software version is up to date, please try running the device in safe mode. This will help determine if any downloaded apps are affecting the device.

If the behavior is the same after running in safe mode, please complete a hard reset.

I hope this information is helpful.

  • Power Save Mode - how to disable

My new Pavilion laptop (model # 17-e123cl) is connected to an external monitor.  When I fold down the laptop screen the power saver mode kicks in and the computer goes off.  I want it to stay on so I can place my wireless keyboard on top of the Pavilion and use the big external monitor.  I was able to do this on my old Gateway but apparently not on this HP.
Is there a way to disable the power saver mode when it is closed so the computer will keep running and I can use the external monitor?

    Hello gary,
Please go to the Options dropdown and choose Edit and remove your Serial # from your post.
Instead, it is more helpful to give your model number and operating system.
What you need to do is go into "Power Options/Advanced settings/Power buttons and lid" and change what happens when you shut the lid.
Here is a video from Microsoft on how to do it.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to disable screen power save mode

    Hello, everybody!
I have an issue with screen power save mode in Solaris 6 and I would be very grateful if someone could help me. Here's the problem description: (as root user) by using the GUI "Style Manager" I go to "Screen" and configure both "Screen Saver" and "Screen Lock" to "off" (I also set the "startup" to "resume current session" and clicked "Set Home Session"), however the screen power save mode is still on and after 30 minutes it is activated. How can I disable it? Is there any other command or configuration specifically to control the screen?
    Thanks in advance!
    Rafael Gracioli - [email protected]

It may be that the power management software is turning off the monitor. Run the command dtpower to view/configure the power management settings.

  • Toshiba Power saver may be the problem

    My Satellite A665-S6050 has had all of the symptoms you read about in these forums;
crash, freeze, hung, locked, BSOD, Windows crash errors, etc.
I bought the laptop new a couple years ago and both love it and hate it when it exhibits
its freezing behavior. This is the intel I-3, 4 GB ram, Windows 7(64 bit) version. Really nice
    when it's running normally.
I have watched and read through hundreds of posts throughout these forums since my purchase.
I have never sent the laptop back to Toshiba. Primarily because I've been able to force power off
then on, go to safe mode, schedule a disk scan on the next power up, reboots normally and I'm good
    for who knows how long.
Following suggestions you can read in these forums, I have upgraded the Intel HD graphics display driver.
I install Windows updates every time they come available(auto update is enabled). I've updated the
Toshiba bios. I've updated Firefox every time it is available(my favorite browser). Updated java and
flash(again automatic updates). Some user settings that I've changed; I've disabled sleep mode(set it
to 'never' under 'advanced power settings) in every power scheme I have. I only use 'High Performance'
power scheme(plan). I have the setting for turning off the hard drive set to 'never'. My rational for doing
this is there is just too much going on under Windows 7, all the time. You never know what's running in the
background. Many times as the laptop freezes and or Windows tries it's best to recover, I get a strong feeling
that the hard drive has shut off! Especially, when Windows is trying to save a dump but can't because it can't
access hd0(hard drive)(I have to force power cycle off/on to recover).
This brings me to my current state of this troubleshooting saga. The last time the laptop froze, I was watching
streaming video in one Firefox window and had a slide show playing in another Firefox window(2 windows, not
2 tabs). Then in the lower right corner I get the Toshiba power saver notification that it is shutting down the
optical drive. It goes away on it's own in about 10 seconds. But immediately everything gets real slow until every
freezes. Windows tries to save a dump but can't. Windows tries to reboot itself but can't. Shows me a screen to
modify the boot list because the hd0 is not available. So, as so many times before I have to hold the power
button down for force power off. Wait a few, then power on, do my thing with safe mode, check disk, etc.
Power up and boots normally. Runs great for who knows how long. Right now as I type this, I have a audio CD
in my optical drive with Windows Media player set to 'replay' continuously. This I hope will prevent the 'Toshiba
power saver' from getting triggered because the optical drive is not idle and therefore won't shut off the hard
drive too! I have no idea how I can prove that 'Toshiba Power saver' is causing these freezes, crashes, lock ups,
etc. But at least if I can keep the optical drive in use and therefore prevent the 'power saver' from kicking in
maybe I can eliminate that as a possible cause of the freezes.
I am really disappointed to read so many Toshiba owners sending their computers to Toshiba service
hoping and praying for resolution but getting no satisfaction in the end. I love my Toshiba and I'll keep it.
I am a recreational user. Don't need to save power. When I use my computer, I want it to function as
powerful as possible until I intentionally perform a normal Windows shutdown.
My employer supplies me with a laptop (different brand). It has Intel I-5 chip, 3 GB ram Win XP Pro..
I run that computer full speed 9 -10 hours a day and I may have to reboot maybe once every other week.
Not bad considering the abuse I put it through. I would hate to have to rely on this Toshiba for work. I
don't think it could stay fully operational for that period of time.
Please Toshiba, tell me how I can help with the troubleshooting of this seriously pervasive problem on
so many of your computers. Is there an event log I can provide? Windows dump files(when they do get
saved)?  Help me help you resolve this problem and satisfy hundreds of your customers.
Thank you in advance for your time.
    Doug

    Jerry,
It happened again this afternoon. This is the first time my system froze since the last time
I reported here in the forum. And just like I reported earlier, Toshiba Power Saver turned off
the optical drive power, I saw the pop-up in the lower right corner to notify me of the event.
I had Toshiba 'PC Health Monitor' running and minimized. I clicked on the icon to restore it
to the desktop. It displayed as expected. The hard drive graphic looked normal and spinning
as usual. I clicked on the graphic of the spinning hard drive and expected 'Power Options' to
display. Instead my desktop went away(all icons, system tray, system notification area, launch
pad, etc), everything gone. The graphic of the spinning hard drive stopped spinning. I tried a
    CTL+ALT+DEL and got a new pop-up from Windows that it couldn't respond and I had 2 options;
press ESC or hold the power button down to force power and a shutdown. Which is what I eventually
    did.
Powered up, went to safe mode, scheduled disk check on the next restart. Disk check runs and
finds no problem. System runs normally again.
As far as finding these events in the Windows logs using 'Event viewer', is not going to help.
I know exactly what time this all took place. I just can't find any event log showing that it took
place. There's a small gap in the time stamps just before the event until a few minutes after the
event. Then I see a mixture of 'errors' and 'information' events after the power on and restart
but nothing specifically addressing the hard drive before the restart.
I see an event log; "Previous shutdown was not expected". I'm sure that's not what your asking
to see.  I don't know if it would be possible to trace the 'Toshiba Power Saver' but that may be
the only way I could prove my point that it is shutting off power to both the optical drive and
the hard drive at the same time.
Is there a way to disable or remove Toshiba Power Saver without causing a more serious problem?
Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.
    Doug.

  • W520 - now changes to "projector only" whenever display turns off in power save mode

I have my W520 in a dock with an external monitor. The display is configured to Extend - the external monitor is primary, and the desktop extends onto the W520 screen. I don't have a screen saver. I turn off the display after 30 minutes of inactivity. Until recently both the laptop and monitor screens would turn off after 30 minutes, and then both resume when I moved the mouse or pressed a key.
Recently, the system has started changing to "Projector Only" when the display turns off. After resuming from power save mode, only the external monitor activates, and the W520 screen is disabled. I have to use Fn-F6 to switch back to "Extend" to re-activate the laptop screen.
I have rebooted and re-saved the power plan.
Why has this happened, and how do I fix it?

    Hi, timg11
I have a few questions so that I may gain a better grasp of this issue:
    1) What is your machine type and model? You can find this information on the bottom of your machine. It should be in format XXXX-XXX.
    2) What is your operating system?
    3) Does this issue occur is the computer is not in the docking station? (Please try if you haven't already).
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

  • Power Save options

I've recently purchased a car mount for my 8820, but everytime I put it in the cradel it goes into standby mode. The only options I see for the cradel are locking and unlocking and the ability to make calls when the phone is locked.
How do I disable the standby function? Is there a hidden menu?
....the power save option is just for the screen, the rest of the phone functions correctly... please disregard.

  • IOS 6 Maps and Power Save

    Hi guys;
My screen keeps powering down and locking when using maps. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? It shoud be simple, since Waze has the feature built right into the app.
SInce Maps is supposed to be 'crowd sourced' it seems ridiculous that it locks out unless I want to disable power save mode on my phone. Is there a way to have Maps keep the phone awake, and if not, could that be built into the next update?

A lot of people are having problems with Passbook right now. Maps is a brand new service that has just been activated.
Be patient. Your operating system isn't even a day old. I can't believe that right after downloading the new update, you're already looking for ways to get rid of it. People can never be satisfied.

thank you for your support :)
i am actually talking about the toshiba power saver for P30 for windows xp, driver installer is 32bit.
however, the sofware insatller setup.exe is 16bit, you can notice it by reading it's description with windows os.
of course, if you disable 16 bit support, you can't install toshiba power saver anymore.

  • Cannot wake up screen afer turned off by Power Saver on Tecra M5

    Tecra M5; XP SP2.
    Screen saver disabled.
Toshiba power saver set to turn off monitor after 10 minutes.
Once turned off, I cannot get monitor to turn back on.
I have tried various combinations of fn and function keys but to no avail.
Only solution seems to be to send to hibernate (power off button is set to hibernate).
Screen lights up to say hibernating and works fine after restart. Not a critical error but very irritating

    Hi,
For this problem exists a Microsoft Quickfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917332
To download you can for example google for it.

    hi Murali993,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Just to verify, when the machine goes into Power Saver Mode (Standby / Sleep), can you check if the power button is blinking (this is an indication that the machine successfully entered Sleep State).
If the power button is just a solid light and it's not blinking then the machine is likely not entering Sleep. In this case, consider doing the following:
    1. Turn off Hybrid Sleep under Control Panel (Icon Views) > Power Options
        - Link to picture
    2. Set the computer's power setting to HIgh Performance and disable the HDD's power management settings (see this guide)
    3. If you have external devices plugged-in (eg. Flashdrives), unplug them then perform a clean boot (this procedure temporarily disables background services/apps that are running in the background that's possibly hanging up the system as these are normally terminated before the machine goes to sleep).
Let me know how it goes.

  • M30X-124: Power Saver image in the system tray disappeares.

    Hi,
I own a Satellite M30X-124 with Windows XP SP2. When installing Toshiba Power Saver everything works just until suddently the image in the system tray disappeares. I then have to reinstall the Toshiba Power Saver (TPS) for everything to work as intended.
By now, I have approx. reinstalled TPS 5 times. Does anyone know a solution or at least the problem?
    Greetz,
    Micha

    Hello
Well, I think its not a Power Saver malfunction. I assume that the option Hide inactive icons in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties is marked.
Move the mouse pointer to the Taskbar then right click. There you should see the Taskbar properties. There you can disable the option Hide inactive icons.

  • NB205-N210 Power Saver Problem

    Hi!
Im haveing an error during install of the Power Saver software.
I have Win XP SP3 (Hungarian) and when I try to install the software, it gives me this message:
    "1628: script based installation unsuccessful"
I read after this, and they say that "Idriver.exe" makes the error, I tryed to disable it but I cant,
Anyone can help me finding out how to install this vital part of software to my netbook, with out it the batter last only for about 3-4 hour (insted of 7-9)?
Thank you very much in foreward!

    Microsofts Knowledge base suggests:
    Method 10
If you get the message error "Error 1628: Failed to complete script based install"
And followed the instruction above and it didnt resolve the problem and you just create fresh
installation packet by using InstallShiled tool, please disable "Cache installation on local machine"
option during the installation packet create process.
    Link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175
So maybe it has something to do with temporary files.
    Go into c:\documents and settings\[your name]\Local Settings\Temp
and delete all the files in there (close all other programs first, or do it in Safe Mode).
Also try disabling your Antivirus software. They can sometimes block installations.
