HomeKit Software Bridge... i.e. Indigo Domotics?

Will Apple allow for a HomeKit Software Bridge?
For those of you that are die hard MAC addicts coupled with Home Automation enthusiasts..... you are probably running Indigo.  If not... you should... Anyway, I was greatly disappointed to hear that the Apple HomeKit technology will not allow for a software based bridge.  Like many Indigo users, my home is full of Mac Minis, multiple iPads, Apple TVs, iPhones and the like all leveraging the power of Indigo to perform complex home automation tasks that no hardware solution has ever been able to match.  The HomeKit venture is apparently skipping over the automation enthusiasts and just going straight to the automation weekend warriors.  I am greatly disappointed in Apple for this oversight.
If you think that HomeKit will provide all the solutions.... here are a couple things my house does with indigo.....
If the temperature outside is warmer than the temperature inside and the HVAC heater is on, indigo sends me a text message informing me of that and asks if I want to turn off the heater.  The opposite happens if it's cooler outside and the AC is on.
If my back door is open for more than 5 minutes, Indigo sends me a message to let me know and asks if I want to turn off the AC unit (if running)
When someone rings my doorbell, Indigo sends me a text message with an attached picture of the person at the door with links to turn on or off the patio light and to lock or unlock the front door.
With wifi smart phone detection, Indigo can let me know who is home, who isn't home, for how long, when everyone is home, when everyone is gone and trigger actions based on occupancy.
I have virtual keypads for my alarm panel, apple TVs and iTunes... all accessible from any of my MAC or i devices.
I can have indigo send me notifications on several platforms so I can customize which device gets what notifications and how that device responds... Growl/Prowl, Pushover, Notifications, Email, SMS, Audio through server or through iTunes, etc.
As you can see, these are just a few of the complex things that I would sacrifice if I elected to use HomeKit to turn on/off my lights.

Indigo Domotics, (Indigo Perceptive Automation) is THE way to do home automation! Been using it for years now and there is no limit to what you can do. If you can think of it, there is a way to do it in Indigo. The support is FANTASTIC by Matt and Jay. I wish all Mac software was this good. Apple should select Indigo as it's automation software.  If anyone wants to do home automation and is using a Mac, then Indigo Domotics is definitely the way to go!

  • Software conference bridge vs ios hardware bridge

Lets suppose I have set up media groups so that hardware conference resources come before software bridge. Furhther suppose I have bumped up the number of participants in CM for the software bridge. It seems to me with this configuration, if the hardware bridge is available, I will never get more than 8 participants, correct?

What hardware? What router model and what modules and DSPs. What do you want to do? Is this for a single site? Or do you have remote sites you want to do hardware conferencing for (so the conference streams don't come over the WAN.)

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 crashes on load in my Windows 7 workstation.

Adobe Bridge CS3 crashes on load in my Windows 7 workstation.
I recently completely removed, deactivated and reinstalled all my Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Master Collection to solve some problems with other application from the suite and now I'm surprise Bridge continues to fail. In my portable workstation the same software (Bridge) uses to work.
I tried launching Bridge under several compatibility modes. All failed.
Is there any know bug I should be aware of? Any fix?
    Is this a common problem?

Curt Y. Thank you for your answer.
It was only Bridge who was crashing. It failed to load and Windows was giving an error message.
I tried your suggestion, and resetting all options in the reset window it now loads. It was as simple as that.

  • Bridge CS4 edit history problem with OS change from XP to 7

I've changed my OS from XP to 7.  After reinstalling software, Bridge CS4 no longer keeps my editing steps in the "edit history" metadata.  The only steps recorded are that I've  saved a file.  I have the edit history box marked in preferences in both Bridge and PS, and have tried changing the metadata section in Preferences to session only, concise, and detailed.  None of those choices make a difference.  Any suggestions on how to get my edit history steps back in the metadata of Bridge?  I use the edit history frequently!  Thanks in advance!

  • Editing pictures in Bridge (Raw mode) causes severe system failure Mac OSX 10.9.2

While being busy processing images in Bridge (CS6) Raw Mode, the entire computer locked and the screen went to black. After a restart and reopening, I noticed that all other applications are working properly still. But as soon as I open Bridge and Photoshop in the camera RAW mode, the same system failure returns. Is this a known error? Does anyone know how to solve it?
Perhaps the prefs should be deleted, but I cannot seem to locate them.
    System: Mac OSX 10.9.2
    Software: Bridge CS6 / Photoshop CS6 / Bridge CC

In the meanwhile I was able to delete the application's preferences. At first it all seemed to work properly - even in RAW mode. But after a minute still the failure popped up:
It looks as if the graphics card cannot deal with the App. It looks all twisted, shaky and mixed up. The left part of the screen is on the right side and vice versa. I managed to quit the application and everything returned back to normal.

  • "Additional software is required for quicktime to playback this media."

I am trying to open a .mov file with QuickTime, but every time I try, I get the message that additional software is needed to play it.  A pop-up window then directs me to a page where I can download a handful of different components.  I have no idea which one, if any, would help me to play the movie.
I can press the "play" button, but I only see a black screen, and there is no audio.
I am not very tech savvy at all, so I'm not sure what informatin would be necessary to help answer this question, so I'm just going to copy down some of the video's properties:

    -Total bitrate: 2192 kbps

    -Bit rate: 160 kbps
    Item Type: Quick Time Movie
    Size: 224 MB
Also, I am running Windows 7.
Thank you so much--if you can help me out I would really appreciate it!

    Sorry.
I don't know what else to try.
It's a complicated world with Windows and Apple and media formats. Microsoft ended support for the Mac OS and their proprietary Windows formats when they switched from the AVI container to the WMP container formats.
Apple (QuickTime) hasn't "changed the rules" and offers both Mac and Windows users a version of their product. Backward compatibility (older formats) still works in most cases.
But your file is really WMP (based on the codecs). It may only work on a Mac that also has a software "bridge" know as Flip4Mac.

  • Quicktime "Additional software is required..."

When leaving some pages being browsed [http://i40.tinypic.com/xp3qcx.png this message] pops up. Disabling the Quicktime plugin seems to stop the message from showing up, yet I'd rather not disable the plugin if possible. If I click "Continue" there is no software to download, just an informative Apple page that doesnt help. Also from what I can tell there is no Quicktime media on the page. It's a web portal for Zimbra Email.

    Sorry.

  • IOS conference bridges and MRGL

    Hello All,
I have a question. My customer has a multisite centralised topology with three remote sites. These three remote sites I have configured to use regions with codec G728 to communicate with the head office which uses G711 codec. I would like to conserve bandwidth on WAN hence the reason. So i have configured the dspfarm conference profile on the router for all codecs and this is registered to the call manager. I also configured a MRGL which has in the following order the software bridge and then the hardware bridge associated to it. I have assigned this MRGL to device pool associated with the different sites.
For the device pool assigned to remote sites, will I need to have the hardware conf bridge alone assigned to the MRGL? Since software conf bridge supports only G711 codec.
Should I create a another MRGL and associate with the DP for the remote sites with the hardware conf bridge alone?
I not onsite to test, but I wanted to get this ironed out until i go out to work tomorrow to test.
    Thanks

Okay thanks. But if Phone A at the head office has an MRGL of SW bridge first and has initiated a conference with a phone b at the remote site which has an MRGL with the hardware bridge as priority, which media resources will be used? Will it be the phone A since its the initiator?
I have changed my MRGL to have the HW bridge first and SW bridge second, is it best practice to have the router handle conferencing?

Am i having to re install the products?

Did you install using a Cloud download, or do you have the CS6 standalone version?

  • CS3 How to choose a Codec/extension wrapper and Preset for a project

    Goal
To create fanvideos from commercial DVDs for personal fair use.
Potential to use to promote a series in a social media campaign with permission of owner.
    Tools on Hand
Three seasons worth of the series ripped from commercial DVD --> .VOB format in TS Folders on my 2008 10.5.8 Mac using MacTheRipper
    FFMpegx CODEC pack.
CS3 Premierie Pro with Mac updates that were posted on the Adobe site.
So far I've been able to
I managed to use ffmpegx to convert my .vobs into .mp4s, which I then renamed as .movs to get Premiere to recognize it.  I managed to sync my audio with the mp4 encoder (may have been a H264 but not sure by changinge the frame-rate from ntsc film to ntsc.
    Problems I've encountered
I had admittedly been experimenting with different codecs and .exts, trying to find optimum quality:size:premiere/iDVD compability, so I had a variety of source footage in my project.  For some, I had to readjust the pixel aspect ratio.  But when i rendered/exported the final product...everything was squished and incorrect.  I had sound syncing issues for some of my trials, too.  Before I was trying to make things compatable with iDVD.  I no longer care about this and have no intention of burning anything with this project.
I saw things on the internet about using Encore's library of codecs, but couldn't find anything .dll on my computer.  I also have no idea how to use any of hte CS3 support software (bridge, extension manager, after affects)
Current steps I'd like to take
I'm starting over and converting my .vob files into something Adobe will recognize (a simple file name change didn't work in this instance).  I've read the different file types that Adobe PPro recognizes, but it's come to my attention that it prefers some file types to others.  Which extension wrappers are the least likely to cause headaches when trying to edit in Pro?
Out of those possible codecs and extension wrappers that are compatible, which are the best for fitting a lot of quality into a small filesize?  I heard good things about H264, but I don't know if the patch I dl'd will be enough to make it Adobe PrePro compatible (and I know there are a few different kinds of h264.  the only one i had any success with at all put it an mp4 mpeg container, but didn't end up being anything of a filesize savings compared to the other h264, which ended up being useless).  I have about 60 .vobs that are 2 GB big, and don't have an external hard drive yet, so this is a consideration.
How do I choose a preset for my new project?  These DVDs were released over the course of 3 years, and they don't all have the same specs in their native format (when I grab the info from DVD player, it's different).  Will I have better luck using different seasons if I convert them from .vobs to identical target file types?  I guess the better question is, when using 3 different types of files that are wrapped into .vobs, am I better off customizing the target file to match the file information DVD Player gives me for each different season....or trying to find specs that serve all three seasons best and have more uniform files imported into Premiere?  Eitherway, how do I know how to pick a Preset?  I try keeping a 16:9 or 16:9 DVD in my target files, but does that make it a widescreen project to start?  Once I start the project, is it too late to change these settings?
Thank you for helping a newbie.  I tried looking around for answers to each problem as I came across them, but eventually I got overwhelmed and threw my hands up, deleting everything.  I'm ready to ask for help and have a little patience.
*It's important for me to use free or very affordable 3rd party software, as I am currently unemployed.

You MAY want to think about a product that will read the output from your DVD player and convert to DV AVI
Matt with Grass Valley Canopus in their tech support department stated that the model
110 will suffice for most hobbyist. If a person has a lot of tapes that were played
often the tape stretches and the magnetic coding diminishes. If your goal is to encode
tapes in good shape buy the 110, if you will be encoding old tapes of poor quality buy
    the model 300
Both the 110 and 300 are two way devices so you may output back to tape... if you don't
need that, look at the model 55

  • Browser plug-in & Java components

I post my topic here as I realized the JavaBean forum wasn't the right place. Sorry for the double post.
As part of an application, I have developped a specific component/javabean that displays some data that may be stored in a file (*.ppp).
I would like to register that component so that IE, Netscape, etc. use it to display a file when a user clicks on a or when a corresponding content-type is reached. This effect is actually used by Adobe for its pdf file format: when a user clicks on a .pdf link, the pdf will be displayed in the browser window.
I found several strategies to (apparently) achieve this. Which ones are working? Which ones should be used? Which ones spare the most rewritting? Which ones are the most convenient for the user?
    - Using the JAF, JAVABEANS ACTIVATION FRAMEWORK (see http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/glasgow/jaf.html). Does it work for IE?
    - Using the Java bridge for ActiveX (see http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/software/bridge/). IE now requires plug-in to be written as ActiveX...
    - Java Pluglet API (see http://www.mozilla.org/projects/blackwood/java-plugins/). But does it work for IE? It does not even seem maintained...How would I rewrite my bean?
I wish there was just a simple mechanism where you register your jar component and it would be used automatically when the browser reached the corresponding content-type :D

  • 7.5.2 breaks ipv6 from lan port

I have a slightly unorthodox ipv6 setup. Upgrading from 7.4.2 to 7.5.2 killed it. I ended up restoring my airport express base station w/802.11n to 7.4.2 to restore access.
dsl modem with a public v4 /29 network
    hub connected to dsl modem
    cisco 1701
    interface Tunnel2
    tunnel mode ipv6ip
    interface FastEthernet0/0
on the public side connected to the hub
    doing v6 nd
    interface FastEthernet0/1
connected to a lan port of the airport
    doing v6 nd
    airport running 7.4.2 set as ipv6 link-local
merrily passing the v6 nd coming from the cisco to the wireless clients
    airport running 7.5.2 set as ipv6 link-local
did not seem to pass the v6 nd
as seen (or not seen in this case) from my late 2007 Macbook Pro.
When originally setting up the airport(years ago), I found the router advertisements were not making it from the upstream port, so I worked around the issue by plugging the v6 router into a lan port on the airport.
Does anybody have experience with 7.5.2 and the Airport passing ipv6 natively (either from the upstream or lan ports)?

Ah, crud. That explains why my IPv6 connection is down with 7.5.2 - my sixxs.net tunnel is anchored on a box on an internal port. It'd be nice if rogue RA protection could be disabled...

  • Meetingplace express licensing

    Hi ,
I want to know that if I deploy meetingplace express for Voice and Video conferencing. is it required for me to buy WEB licencing as well ?
in other way if I both only Voice and Video Licenses , how Can I use audio/video conference ?

    Hi,
You shouldn't be buying Meeting Place Express any more.
You should be looking at the MeetingPlace suite.
If you just want audio / video conferencing then you could look at MeetingPlace 8 - probably looking at least 2 servers in this scenario. 1 for MP app server, 1 for web scheduling. Then you have option of using software bridging on the app server (Express Media Server) component, or external hardware bridges.
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • How to persuade MS IIS to not use the MS Java VM

An odd question perhaps: Now that Microsoft has announced its retreat from Java, I am required to find a way to persuade MS's IIS (their Web Server) to use a Java VM other than theirs (msjava). I am talking about the use of Java by, say, a .asp document that uses something like:
    set obj = GetObject("java:<myclassname>")
Does anyone know how to achieve this?

    Package your com-callable java class

  • ActiveJMS ActiveX

Does anyone know how the JavaBeans Bridge for ActiveX works under SDK/JRE 1.4.2?
We are using the Beans.ocx in a C++ function in order to utilise the ActiveJMS control, under version 1.3.1. The beans.ocx does not appear to be part of the 1.4 release and I need to know how we will provide this functionality but I haven't been able to determine what the new implementation will be.
    (see http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/software/bridge/)

Basically, what I think you need to do is to put a COM wrapper on the JMS, then connect to it via ActiveX. How's that sound?
