Homescreen images are blurry in iOS4

I'm liking iOS4 however one thing I noticed is that all my homescreen wallpapers look fuzzy, like they have been blown up too big (they didn't with iOS3). I know you can "squeeze" them smaller but not that much smaller. It's still fuzzy.
Anyone having the same problem or know why this is happening?

Try Re-syncing your photos. I had the same issue, all photos in my Camera Roll were blurry. That worked for me
Wonder if with the new display the sync is set for a higher resolution image now.

  • Still images are blurry when dropped into Canvas

HI, I am running Final Cut 7. When I drop still images into onto the Timeline, when I click on that image to appear in the Canvas they are blurry.  However, when I put on the Alpha+RGB they are as sharp as they normally are - except they are red.  How do I change this so they are sharp in the RGB channel?
    Thanks for your help

Thanks.  Like I said, I have downsized this still image to 720 x 576 at 72 ppi and it goes to crap.
I just changed the setting to HD 1280 x 720.  Import the 720 x 576 at 72 ppi ... looks good but needs to be rendered .. render and it goes to crap.  Everything that is imported needs to be rendered - then it all goes to crap. OR video looks good as a still frame and when rendered it goes to crap as it isn't HD but I thought it would be the quality of what it normally is just in an HD environment.
Thinking Final Cut X will solve these issues as it doesn't have these format problems like 7 does.

  • OSX Lion jpeg 'preview' images are blurry after altering them

When i edit a photograph in photoshop (cs3/cs4 etc, it doesnt matter which version) the preview of that image goes blurry after its saved. The image is the full res still and hasnt lost any quality but when i have the icons that are of a large size they appear really blurry and 'low-res'
I know its a small gripe but it makes things difficult as a photographer when im trying to organise images that perhaps look similar or i want to see as a whole set.

Hello, sorry, I don't know the cure for this, but as a photographer you might have a look at Tr-Catalog, where you can choose the size thumbnail/icon/detail...

  • Images are Blurry in FM 12 CHM and WebHelp Output.

    Hello,
I am using the Trial version of FM 12 and attempting to export to both WebHelp and CHM.
We would like to use the original images, but the Publish process is resizing them. I read that setting Maximum Dimensions, Width and Height to 0 will cause the program not to resize the image. However, when I set W/H to 0, the images are deleted from my project output.
When I generate WebHelp I noticed that the HTML has a set style, but I haven't selected any of the options in the Image style.
    <p class="FM_Figure"><img alt="UserRoles04NewRole.png" style="width : 306.319pt; height : 96.559pt; margin-bottom : 0.000pt; " id="image3" src="UserRoles04NewRole.png" /> </p>
I'm glad that the HTML is referencing the original graphic, I was thinking that for sure that the graphics were converted during the Publish process. But how do I configure my .sts so that the images are not resized?
    Thanks!

    >> ... as all my WebHelp deliverables to date have used svg line drawings.
Do the SVG vectors survive as vector?
And is that true for all work flows? (ebook, HTML, XML)
    > Maybe there's a way to tag the image, one for print output and one for online use, ...
Yep, you can generate multiple instances of the images, and put each in a separate anchored frame. Then tag the frame anchor (┻) in the text with a Condition Code. Have a named CC for each workflow. Newer versions of FM may allow streamlining the CC Show/Hide process book-wide with scripting. Don't put the anchors right next to each, or they become impossible to select later. Anchor each frame to different points in the paragraph (and not inside words, other than words made of words, as that can break spell-check).

  • Help!!! Images are blurry/low-res in InDesign files I sent - re-linking is not working or we're doing it wrong :(

So I am transferring all of my InDesign files over to my boss because I am leaving my job, but all of the photos placed in the layouts I've created show up blurry when he opens the files on his own computer. We've tried relinking the files, even! We may be doing it wrong, so first of all, could I get a detailed step-by-step to relinking files? Secondly, if that doesn't work, what else would you suggest?
Info that may or may not help: I have a PC, he has a Mac, we used Google Drive to share the files, and I've already tried packaging the files.
    Thanks!

Is it now the appearance in ID only or also PDF output? If the output is fine, it may just be the screen display settings. ID by default shows a low res screen copy. You can check on the boss' computer by selecting an image, right click and change the setting...near the bottom of the menu.
Also, in the links panel, are all the images up to date?

  • Uploaded images are blurry

Hi all, I have tried numerous options when resizing my  100MB TIFF files to JPEGS but all result in blurry images when uploaded. I have opened the files on my laptop prior to uploading and they're great. I was advised to limit the width to 600 pixels but thsi made no difference at all. I used both photoshop CS6 and lightroom 4.3 with the same outcome. Has anyone had similar experiences or advice? Thanks

Thanks - I see the project here (http://www.behance.net/gallery/Perspectives-Of-Form-A-Sojourn-Away/9001215) but I don't see the original image you sent me for comparision...were did you send this? If possible, please send it in a support ticket here: behancenetwork.zendesk.com/anonymous_requests/new
Also - the "share to Behance" feature from Photoshop and Lightroom only publishes a "Work in Progress," not a project like the one you've sent me - are you seeing the same issues whether you upload directly to Behance (like the project) vs. share from Creative Cloud? Thanks!

  • Still Images Are Blurry

    Hi All,
I will start with saying that, I saw quit a lot of discussions on the net with the same issue.  However couldnt find the solution for it.
    The Issue:
I am trying to create a stop-motion video using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
I am importing a bunch of still photos into my project.
When I drag&drop any image into the sequence it looks very blurry relatively to the original photo.
The same result after rendering and exporting the sequence.
    Additional settings:
I also set to automatically fit the photo(s) to the sequence settings (Default scale to frame size).
    Raw Meterial:
    4288X2848 JPG.
I tried to resize the photos before importing but I get the same results
    The target sequence:
    720X576
    60 FPS
I tried other sequence setting with no much luck.
    My questions:
    What am I doing wrong?
Why I see the video/images blurry?
Thanks for your time and effort.
    Sample of "What I See".
Pay attention that the right side is blurry, that is the video preview pane. On the left is the original photo preview.

First of all, I stopped watching the video when it says a second has 60 milliseconds. That is not true. And it is not relevant.
I can't tell if you live in Israel or were vacationing there. They do use PAL there, but I think you should probably forget about using PAL.
Here is my suggestion. Use your 4288X2848 image to create your sequence. Limit yourself to 24 frames per second and you will have a lot less work to do.
I think you are being tricked into seeing something the wrong way. When I open one of my images in the Source Monitor, it is usually set to "Fit". Change it to 100%.
When I have one of my images in the Program monitor, it is usually set to "Fit". Change it to 100%. Try this out. Pick a picture with something nice and sharp in the exact center of the image. Compare both monitors.
Here is a shot of my screen doing that. There is a file size limit here on the forums so you are only seeing a small part of both monitors. I don't see any blurring. Do you?
Edit: You are probably going to have to cut the frame size down to export it - for now. Just cut each number in half after upping the quality and setting the frames per second back to 24.. One of these days you may end up going back and exporting again - when Premiere Pro catches up and lets you export H.264 at that size.
    Hi,
    Well...
I wrote in my previous post that I tried creating a sequence from my photo and I got the same blurry results.
I used PAL because that is the tutorial I found.
Would appreciate if any can say what are the settings I need in order to create a "slide show" movie.
I don't mind resizing the images, 4288 x 2848 is too large anyhow, it is just the default output from my camera.
I don't think I am "tricked" into seeing something that is not true. As I wrote, I get the same results after exporting the sequence and creating the clip video.
Another anoing point is that I already did something similar in the past and it worked perfectly. not sure what is going wrong now =[
Thanks for your time and efforts.

  • Please tell me why my images are blurry.

Alright, now why when I import a 3-5 megabit image it looks blurry when I scale it DOWN. I am confused, but then again when I zoom in on my text, that is just as blurry. Is there a reason for this or does it get clear when I finalize my DVD. Thanks for any help.

I am going to try to fix this without posting, I know it can't be to hard.
First I know my picture is very large because when I expand it the blurriness goes away. So my first question is what apple software will fix this. The file size is 2.5 roughly and looks clear in viewer but like crap in Motion, how do I fix that?
Secondly, Should I be able to see my image clearly on the screen or will it get better when it's all finalized.
Lastly should I be on 8 bit for viewing or does that have nothing to do with my problem.
    Thanks for any help.

  • PS CS 5 and images are blurry/pixelated.

Opened a clear image in QuickLook. Opened in PS CS5 to edit and it is blurry. PS is blurry/pixelated too - the tools, the font, etc. What can I do to fix this? I have had PS CS 5 for awhile now and have never had this problem before. Already tried re-opening, shutting down.

Well if I had I didn't know it. I checked under System Preferences > Hardware - Displays, but that option is not there. I searched around to try to find it, but did not. Can you point me in the direction of that setting? I am hoping that is all it is. Thank you.

  • Upgraded to iOS4 on my iPhone 3GS and now iPhoto images are blurred...WHY?

I've just upgraded to iOS4 on my iPhone 3GS and the iPhoto images are blurred? WHY?
They were fine before...so now my screen saver is blurred and looks low res...all my images are crap quality...what is going on Apple?
Checked the photos on my laptop and they are crystal clear...anyone else have the same problem?
I wish I'd stuck with the old software now.

I also had the same issue. I upgraded my iPhone 3Gs to the new software about a week ago. Yesterday the photos on my phone were blurry. I "googled" the issue and ended up here. Synced my phone and now all is well! thanks for the help.

  • Upscaled images look blurry, is there a way to sharpen them? In particular, zooming on pages with images that actually contain only text are hard to read.

I am zooming in on my homework in mastering physics. I am using a large screen and sitting far away. It uses a lot of images containing the text I need to read, but when the images are upscaled, they become very blurry and hard to read. A simple sharpen effect after it is resized would fix the problem. Is there a way to do this in firefox? like a command line switch or maybe something in about:config? Thanks

It may sound counter-intuitive, but could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved?

  • IPhoto 9.1.1: slideshow images are zoomed into blurriness

New Mini 2.4, new Acer HD widescreen display, iPhoto 9.1.1 bundled. The mandatory library "update" on startup corrupted my library. Found a fix here to trash the iPhoto plist and reload the app. My old slideshows are gone, and when I select a range of photos and click "slideshow", I get the whole range in mini-thumbnails along the bottom; that's nice, but...when I play the slideshow, the images are so zoomed out that every last one is blurry. It looks like a nice photo in Preview after you hit "zoom in" about 5 times; it starts to pixelate, but this is just plain blurry. I posted another topic today about display size, and I wonder if these two flaws are related. The display puts a ridiculously small snapshot on the display, and full-screen simply puts the same dinky image on a field of black.
The subject images are, admittedly, mostly 1.3mp and 3.5mp. A few I took with my new 18mp Canon behave pretty much like they all used to. I've tried changing the monitor resolution from 1080p down to 720p, but it doesn't make much difference. The older ones looked fine and were zoomable without pixelating on my old Acer 1914 LCD monitor, so I didn't expect such a radical degradation of quality simply by upgrading to an HD monitor. The older photos (99%) of my library, are pretty much useless for slideshows now.

Create a new test library, import some photos and see if the problem persists. If not then your original library is damaged. Backup the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.
    Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Images are very blurry when I author to DVD

    Looking for a little help.
I author a DVD each month for a company and we add image overlays to movie trailers. It has a banner along the top of the trailer and along the bottom. (Movie title, movie cover, copyright line and a couple small logos)
We use video that is 720p so I built it in Premier Pro CS6
Video Settings I use in PP CS6
    DV - NTSC > Widescreen 48kHz
    General
    Editing mode: QuickTime DV NTSC
    Timebase: 29.97fps
    Video Settings
    Frame size: 720h 480v (1.2121)
    Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2121)
    Fields: Lower Field First
    Audio Settings
    Sample rate: 48000 samples/second
    Default Sequence
    Total video tracks: 3
    Master track type: Stereo
    Audio Tracks:
    Audio 1: Standard
    Audio 2: Standard
    Audio 3: Standard
The video comes out pretty decent (I realize because we author to DVD it wont be HD)
When creating the overlays I use Photoshop CS6 I have tried so many different ways and they come out really nice IN Premier Pro, but as soon as I author to a DVD they are blurry.
I have tried a bunch of the presets in PS but the most common one I try is:
    Preset > Film & Video > HDV/HDTV 720p/29.97
    Width 1280
    Height 720
    Resolution 72
    RGB Colour 8 Bit
Colour Profile: Don't colour manage thus Document
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels
Does anyone see what I am doing wrong? Or could it be that I am authoring in 720p HD and then trying to burn it to a DVD, cause when I author to a Blu-ray it looks fantastic, it's just downgrading to DVD it sucks.

Ok so I tried importing from Premier Pro to Encore, and I also tried it by doing what you said above (Ann) but even in the preview timeline it's really blurry

  • Why are the images on my screen in InDesign so crisp/clear and when I export to PDF to print they are blurry?

Top Picture is while the program, bottom is when exported as a PDF

    Hi Kathdepew,
You are checking the PDF in Preview, please look it at Adobe Reader/Acrobat. Preview is not a recommended soft-proofing application.
Also, check you PDF export settings, it seems the images are being down-sampled. To know better, export the PDF with "High quality presets" and then check.

  • Images (jpg) are blurry at proper resolution

This seems like a really silly question – as it is the first time I have had this issue – but I am having problems getting a properly "clear" image with what "should be" appropriately sized images.
In photoshop – my images are crystal clear at the same resolution, but when incorporated into my flash – they are getting pretty "pixely" and I am not sure why.  Assumably, 72di at the placed size should be clear when displayed at the proper resolution – but this is not the case. I even tried bringing in the high resolution images – but still can not get any clearer. They just get very bitmappy – am I missing something?
    thanks.

I've done a dozen movies now using iMovie and Final Cut...but don't recall this kind of blur..its weird. But, basically you are saying to commit in faith to the whole process, put in the time to make the movie with the idea that it should come out.
There's an area in the technology then IMO that needs improving, if its not what you see is what you get. Kerrrrr'Azy!
I'll give it a shot then, but dang...its hard to move forward when feedback while you're doing it stinks!
thanks...I'll letcha know what happens then..
    peace
