Homesite will not run on my AMD based systems. Period.

I recently upgraded my PC to a dual-core Athlon X2 4400+ and
I cannot get Homesite 5 and 5.5 to start without crashing.
The error shown is: "Exception EOLeSysError in module
HomeSite5.exe at 0008D7A5. Class not registered."
I'm not running any software anti-virus or spyware
protection, that is all handled through hardware on seperate boxes.
Both versions run fine on my Dell XPS Gen 2 Intel-based laptop, as
well as my other Intel-based workstations. Unfortunately It just
crashes on startup on my new AMD dual core system. I've spent hours
researching and trying to see if I can find an answer to this but
I'm at a dead-end. It seems tech support doesnt allow for trial
assistance nor do they have anything in their knowledge base about
this. If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it. Here is my
system info:
OS: WindowsXP SP2
Motherboard: ASUS A8N-Deluxe SLI
CPU: AMD X2 4400+
RAM: 1 gig DDR400 Corsair XMS512-3200c
Video: Asus Extreme n7800GT Dual (SLI)
Volume1: 2x WD SE16 WD3200KS (640gig RAID0 SATA2)
Volume2: 2x Seagate ST3160812AS 7200.9 (320gig RAID0 SATA1)
DVD1: NEC ND-3520A
DVD2: Pioneer DVR-105 (USB)
PSU: Silverstone SST-ST50EF 500w

I had a friend try it on his regular single-core AMD64-based
system I think it was a 4000+, and it won't work there either. I
dunno what the deal is but this is very strange. It's uncommon to
see a regular 32bit Windows piece of software simply not run
because of the underlying system hardware makeup.
He also received the same error: "Exception EOLeSysError in
module HomeSite5.exe at 0008D7A5. Class not registered."
I also tried using task manager to set affinity to only
single core upon HomeSite5.exe instance and that didnt seem to
work. From the error, it appears something during the install
shield installation process is not registering, IE, a class or
module.

  • Win XP will not install on K9N4 Ultra based system, please help!

Hello, i was hoping some1 could help me with a problem ive been trying to sort out for the past week or so.  After buying and building a new system i havent been able to get Windows XP to install, the setup formats and copies the initial files correctly then restarts the computer for the first time, the Windows logo then displays on the screen but after that the screen goes blank and nothing happens, the HD led flashes regularly but nothing else happens.  Ive tried installing with both XP home and pro, neither worked, installing Vista works without any problems. I have tried using the Sata drivers from the motherboard CD and from MSI website but that doesnt make any difference, ive also checked the CPU temp which at idle is 25C.  Ive tried pretty much everything i can think of without buying extra components to try which i am reluctant to do. On one occasion XP did install but at the time i was trying to install to the second hard drive with a failed install still on the first hard drive, thinking that whatever was causing the problem had been solved i then formatted both drives to do reinstall so that i wouldnt have to screw around with the boot record manually, ive since tried recreating this situation but it hasnt worked when i tried it a second time.  Ive tried installing with only one hard drive installed with a freshly made partition and full format and it still did not work.
    My specs are:
    MSI K9N4 Ultra-F
    AMD AM2 X2 3800+
    Corsair DDR2 667Mhz 2 DIMMS 1Gb each
    MSI Geforce 7300GT 256Mb
    Seagate Barracude 7200.9 Sata2 hard disks (2) 250Gb each
    450W Win Power PSU
There is also a Creative Sound blaster audigy sound card and a samsung DVD RW, nothing else is connected.
The only thing that i could think might be a problem is the PSU which is a pretty cheap one, also only has 20 pin and 4 pin connecters (both are connected) but i was under the impression that this would be ok.
If anyone has any ideas or knows something i dont about why this isnt working with XP please let me know.
    Thanks

Have you checked the memory timings in BIOS Setup?  At one time MSI used to just get them wrong and I recall having to set DDR CL to 3 (correct for the DIMMs I had), instead of the 2.5 it chose - no idea on DDR2 though but check that your Corsair specs cross-check with what's used.  Is the Sound Blaster Audigy installed?  If so try taking it out and go into BIOS Setup and Load Optimized Defaults, then disable all the "fluff" which is not absolutely necessary for a basic install, like on-board audio, ethernet, unused IDE/SATA channels, FireWire(?) etc.  You want to get down to a minimum required Windows driver set and if that helps, start adding things back one by one.  Also check your mbrd seating for shorts and the CPU heatsink seating... does the CPU temp look right in BIOS Setup.

  • Firefox will not run after System restore or running in compatibility mode for windows 98. How do I fix this? I already tried all other solutions on this site.

I was running Firefox fine just yesterday. I screwed up the registry a litle while removing an installed program completely, so I restored the system and everything appeared to work fine. I then decided to play an old video game, Return to Krondor, which was made back in 1998, so I ran the program with no other programs running in compatibility for windows 98. After finishing the game, I closed it and put the computer in hibernation mode. I come back today and firefox will not run at all. It is not running in the background and there are no programs running. There are no services running which could interfere with it. I think somehow Firefox may think I'm in compatibility mode still, but I have no idea.
I'm running windows Vista 32 - bit with an AMD 2.4ghz processor, 4gb ram on an Emachine computer. I have already tried system restore, restart, processes etc. Nothing works. I can still run Internet explorer and all other programs.

The person that I was assisting, has Windows 7 which has 64 bit system. Her browser was IE 10.
Was IE11 ever offered (or installed) via Windows Update?
Is her computer currently fully-patched at Windows Update?
Is Adobe Shockwave Player v12.1 (or higher) installed on her computer?
Is Adobe Flash Player v15.0.0.189 (or higher) installed on her computer?

  • Office 2013 applications will not run as a domain users

I have a windows 7 64-bit pc with 2013 office home and and business installed. When trying to access Office as a domain user the programs will not run. Is there a fix for this other than making the users local admins?

    Hi,
Which version of Office 2013 did you deployed, Windows Installer-based version or the Click-to-Run version?
Did you install the Office product with local administrator account? I notice that the users must be local administrators on their computers to install Office:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee624360.aspx
If we add the local admin right to the user, can the Office programs be launched? If so, repair the Office programs and then remove the local admin right. See if it can work.

  • Have a month number but QaaWs query will not run

If I type in the parameters for the query it runs with no problem, but when I use the MONTH function that returns the month number the query will not run.
I think the date serial number is what is being passed even though I see a number being display.  Does anyone know how to conver this MONTH() function to a true number?  This is a converted 4.5 model that works just fine, but looks like they tightened things up in 2008.
    Thanks...
    Tom Nather

Here is how its setup.  I have a QaaWs query that returns the max date, then Excel functions that calculate the date back 13 months.  One of the functions is MONTH() that returns the month number based on a date stored in a cell, not really a true number.
I added a vlookup that takes the month from a date field (05/31/2008) and looks up the appropriate NUMBER of the month =VLOOKUP(MONTH(K47),M54:M65,1). Find 5 (which is defined as a number.
This then is applied to the input side for the Qaaws (Month Number = double) using a Paste Link function from the CONTROLS sheet in excel, and the query then works.
Anything that is a date always seems to be built off of the date serial number so this was the easiest way to get this to work.
I think standards have been tightened up using the Flex language vs. what 4.5 was written in, this works in 4.5 without the necessary conversion.

  • 12-month old iMac running Mavericks will not run Yosemite

I have an iMac 21.5", bought new in September 2013 and currently running Mavericks with no problem. The OS is on the internal Mac HDD while Time Machine is on an external HDD. Previous OS updates have installed OK.
Yosemite however will not run. After installation I can log in with no problem and all seems well -- the first time.  All attempts to log in after the first produce the Apple logo and progress bar, but the bar advances only about one third of the way and hangs up, even when left for an hour or more. Nothing at all can move it -- all I can do is reboot by powering off/on. No login appears, just -- the logo and progress bar, which starts to run then stops as before.
If I reinstall Yosemite then I get one login as before, followed by the same failure -- I have now re-installed three times.
I have tried rolling back to earlier (pre-Mavericks) OS versions on Time Machine before installing Yosemite -- same result.
Right now I am back on the previous Mavericks.  All is OK and I can live without Yosemite, but I am becoming concerned for future-proofing my apps. Newer versions, for Yosemite, are not going to run.
Any help would be appreciated please.
    Best wishes to all.

Sadly it did not last. Yesterday it again froze on login and this time Safe Boot got me nowhere.
No doubt if I carry on experimenting I can sort it out,  but I can longer justify the long breaks from my work. I have rolled back via Time Machine to my last Mavericks-based save, and there it stays until someone at Apple gets to grips with Yosemite. Or replaces it, which I expect won't be long . . .
It just is not good enough to tell the consumer that  they must accept bugs with a new release, or that it's all their own, or their system's fault  or that they should get help from a support forum -- any clerk should be able to sit down and just use it. If a machine was running OK with an existing OS,  then it should seamlessly switch to the new without calling for a Masters in IT to figure it out. No ifs or buts. We pay  a premium price for a Mac and deserve better than this from Apple.
From my standpoint, Yosemite is without doubt the worst beast of an OS -- from any source -- that it has ever been my misfortune to encounter. This is my third Mac over the years, and at this rate it's my last -- for all Microsoft's failings, I have never encountered anything like this with Windows.

Here is more information if needed on Lenovo G560 and its slots for memory modules
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/Memory-slots-on-Lenovo-G560/ta-p/390 059
Based on that information, you have 2 slots. Each slot can contain only one memory mode and that memory mode can be of the type 1 GB, 2 GB OR 4 GB. Since you say that you now have 3 GB, I am guessing that you have a 2 GB memory module in one slot and a 1 GB memory module in the other.
So, if you buy a 4 GB memory module, you will need to remove the memory module already in one of the slots...to give you 6 GB installed... use the 2 GB module that you have in one and the new 4 GB module. The 1 GB memory module is removed.
Better, yet consider buying two 4 GB memory modules and inserting one into one slot and the other in the other slot.
Please let me know if you need clarification on anything that I have written.
    Thanks.

Add On...I have the G580 and upgraded the memory to 8 GB RAM installed.
I let Windows  take charge of managing the memory.

  • Is it true that MS Office Suite will not run on Lion?

is it true that MS Office Suite will not run on Lion?

Office 2004 was written for PowerPC.  To run Office 2004 on an Intel based Mac, you need Rosetta to translate PowerPC instructions to Intel instructions.  OS X Lion no longer includes or supports Rosetta.  As such, any application written for PowerPC no longer work on Lion, including Office 2004.
Office 2008 and Office 2011 were written for Intel.  They'll work just fine on OS X Lion.
To address your problem, you can do one of the following:
    1) Reinstall OS X Snow Leopard from a backup, if you made one.
    2) Upgrade to Office 2011.
    3) You could use a suite of productivity apps that can import Office documents, such as OpenOffice, or Apple's iWorks. There will be some incompatibilities between these applications and Office though.

  • Downloaded safari 6.0.4 but it will not run on 10.6.8 on

I downloaded safair 6.0.4 to a macbook running 10.6.8 but Safari will not run the new verstion, only the 5.9.1??

For 10.6.8 you need Safari 5.1.10.
Ideally, you'd now install a system backup made before you got 6.0.4 on there... if that's not possible, download Safari 5.1.10 for Snow Leopard & use Pacifist to 'force' the install, then restart. Backup first, if you haven't already.

  • ITunes 10 will not run on Windows 7, 64 bit

I have upgraded to itunes 10 and now it will not run. In task manager the process is running but no programme. i uninstalled all itunes, quick step, bonjour and apple folders. Then tried a clean instal of itunes 10. Still didn't work. Uninstalled again and reloaded v 9.2 and it works. Tried disabling bonjour and ran the instal of 10 again and it still doesn't work. This is becoming a major pain as I am stuck on v9.2.

Try installing the version 10 again so we can check on a few other characteristics of the problem, seeoh.
    (1) Does your QuickTime Player launch, or do you get an error message of some kind when you try to launch that?
    (2) Try (by way of experiment) disabling the BonJour Service.
In your Start Menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Maximise the window to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the BonJour Service and select "Properties". In the "General" tab, set Start-up type to "Disabled".
Restart the PC, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch this time?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
