Homogeneos system copy in MAXDB

Hello gurus,
Anybody could me help, I never work with MaxDB Database and I get to do a Homogeneos system copy of PRD to QAS..
Please anybody could help me.
Thanks

Dear Osvaldo Antonio dos Santos,
-> Please give more details about the version of the system & the version of the MAXDB database.
-> As SAP customer you was able to read the recommended notes & SAP Note No. 129352.
As it was written in the note:
"To import a backup from another system, a 'normal' recovery is not sufficient. An 'Instance install' or an 'Recovery with Initialization' must be carried out."
Please also pay attention to the "Prerequisites" section of the SAP Note No. 129352. And if you want to perform a system copy for an SAP liveCache instance, see SAP notes 457425 and 632357.
The basic steps of Homogeneos system copy, the SAP Note No. 129352,  are :
a) Create the complete data backup of the MAXDB database on the source system;
b) Copy the complete databackup to the target server & use the option 'Recovery with Initialization' to restore the databackup on the target.
  c) Follow the note further and do c), d) & e) steps.
You wrote, that change the schema using the command "dbmcli -d <NEWSID> -u control, control -uSQL superdba, admin".
Please check the SAP Note No. 129352, step e), with the written by you command you will get the SQL connection session as SUPERDBA user, if the DBM user of the database is control with the default password control, and the SYSDBA user/pwd of the target database is superdba/admin. Please run the SQL statement "rename user SAP<SID> to SAP<NEWSID> " to rename the database user or
   " dbmcli -d <NEWSID> -u control,control -uSQL superdba,admin  sql_execute rename user SAP<SID> to SAP<NEWSID>"
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

We're facing a strange behaviour in ST02 after a system copy using MaxDB backup/restore with SWPM (backup was from our production system). When we click on history, no data is shown:
We have to click on "-> Server", then the data is shown:
Does anyone know how to make history work?

    Hello Alwina,
    Thanks for the help.
Mine is EHP7 NW 7.4, standard system, cent serv instance(Mes Serv & Enqueue server), primary app server (Dia Bg Up Spo) runs on the single host along with Oracle DB 11.2.0.4.
In my rest of the systems also I have the same notations, server name its in upper case and hostname is in lower case (ofcourse they are of other netweaver release) for SM51.
    niping results
    Hostname/Nodeaddr verification:
    ===============================
Hostname of local computer: EUSAPADHR01                      (NiMyHostName)
FQHN of local computer: EUSAPADHR01.dfs                      (NiGetOwnFQDN)
    Lookup of hostname: EUSAPADHR01                              (NiHostToAddr)
        --> IP-Addr.: 10.170.83.88
    Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.170.83.88                             (NiAddrToHost)

    Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.170.83.88                             (NiAddrToHost)
        --> Hostname: eusapadhr01.abc
Yes initially it gives 8 characters in the text.
But in the actual values it is like eusapadh_HRP_40..
    Hope you understand my case.
Ok so implementing the note would fix this ST02 history issue - confirm?

  • Recovery failed during homognuos System copy maxdb 7.7 red hat 5.4 ECC 6.0

    Hi all,
*Actully i have one Development Server with ECC 6.0.. + maxdb 7.7 database    OS  Red Hat 5.4.
Please help us to what username and password we can give....i am from oracle backgroud so i am a newbie in maxdb.
    Source System
    ECC 6.0
    OS Redhat 5.4
    SAPSID   WIA
    Target system
    ECC 6.0
    OS Redhat   5.4
    SAPSID    WID
Now i am going to Create Quality Server for my landscape using homogenoues system copy ....option in target machine...  and I have taken database backup (offline backup) also...
But during system copy it is asking for Database recovery . For recovery i am using DATABASE MANAGER TOOL  (DBMGUI 7.6 maxdb) but it is asking for IP ,DBname username and password.
I have given the IP and DB Name but  dont know the username  and password for the target Machine SAPSID
Because at the time of system copy it asked for database recovery before creating the database users phase .
I checked with xuser list from command line it is showing no values.
Tried with the username and password given at OS level and the password for Source system but no luck.
    So what to do.....
    Please help

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
I am sahil garg and amkum82 user  we both are working on the same issue.
We both are from oracle backgroud.Newbie in maxdb.
We have are following the 129352 note for homogenous system copy.
          2. Target system:
                b) Restore:
Before the restore, you must initialize the target instance. This initialization formats the log area. Data volumes are only formatted if they are not configured as raw devices and are not available in the configured size.
We dont know how to create instancefor tarhet system  in maxdb for homogenues system copy.Could you please help us out what steps needed to be executed for this.

Did you execute the report SMIGR_CREATE_DDL on the source system and placed the resulting .SQL files in the ABAP/DB/ADA directory before starting the import?

  • MaxDB upgrade/heterogeneus system copy problem with unicode conversion

    Project goal:
upgrade a Content Server Version 7.3.0.35   32bit Non Unicode to
    version 7.6.06.16   64bit Unicode
I found and followed note 962019
    My plan (following the note):
-create a clone of the original Content Server (vmware clone)
    -as per note 962019 patched server 7.3.0.35 to 7.3.0.62 (> 7.3.0.57)
    -created index
-on a fresh installed windows 2003 server 64bit i installed Content Server with build 7.6.06.16
-using loadercli from the target server (7.6.06.16) exported data
Now i was ready to start the import, as the note states:
"if the database parameter _UNICODE is set to the value NO and you want to start the target system with SAP MaxDB Version 7.6, you can use procedure described here for the import into a target system only with SAP MaxDB Version 7.6.05 build 11 or higher"
Having version 7.6.06.16 i was confident on such procedure, but my import stops immediatly with error:
    D:\exportKpro>loadercli -d PRD -u SAPR3,SAP -b import.sql
Loader protocol: 'C:\Documents and Settings\administrator\My Documents
    \sdb\loader\log\loader.log'
Loader packages: 'C:\Documents and Settings\administrator\My Documents
    \sdb\loader\packages'

User (SAPR3) logon to database PRD failed: SQL error -8046 = Conversion from UNI
CODE impossible: 7600 (error position: 1)
And now i'm stuck with no hints on how to proceed.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Simone Zaffalon

    Hello Simone,
as you're staying on Windows platform, there is no need for a heterogenous system copy.
All you've to do is to upgrade the 32-Bit installation to your target release (why not use MaxDB 7.7 right away?).
Once this is done, you can check whether the database catalog is still non-unicode (_UNICODE=FALSE).
If it is, there is a catalog migration procedure you can use to change this.
If the 32-Bit database is as you want it, take a full data backup.
Then uninstall the 32-Bit software, install the same version of MaxDB in the 64-Bit fashion.
Finally create the db instance by a restore of the backup.
After a load_systab your database is fully ready to go!
Just to stress this again: the _UNICODE parameter is not about your data!.
    It's about the database catalog.
Having this parameter set to YES you can create e.g. tables named with Unicode characters.
The parameter does in no way affect your business data!
Since many customers ask why they should't use loadercli for a scenario like this:
    a) It's only supported if you must use it, that is, you change the byte-order of the OS platform
    b) it's way faster than export and import. We're talking about a few hours compared to days here!
    c) It's much safer and controllable to use backup/restore and SDBUPD and move on step-by-step than exporting all data into a big file chunk and hoping that everything will be fine afterwards.
    regards,
    Lars

    Hi, All:

During the step "Import ABAP data", error occurs. The error messages from <b>sapinst.log, import_monitor.log, SAPSSEXC_1.log</b> are posted below.
I tried to re-copy the export files from the source system, but it still doesn't work. Does it mean the export file <b>SAPSSEXC_1</b> is destroyed?
BTW, the cache_size from Database Manager is 180096, is it too small?
    Anyone met the same problem?
Any info will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

  • DB Error during System Copy Import

    Hello,
We are currently doing a heterogeneous system copy of an internal Solution Manager
7.01 (running on Linux SLES10 SP2 64Bit) to a new machine (running on
Linux SLES11 SP1 64Bit). The database we are using on both side is MaxDB.
During the export phase, nothing went wrong. The pre and post requisites were implemented.
But during the import phase with sapinst and more especially during the 'import ABAP' step we are facing the following errors.
    __SAPDFACT.log :__

Before the export we executed the report for the DDL migration, created
the right *.sql files. We copied those sql files in the right folder
according to note 771209 and the System Copy guide.
We also tried to implement note 942540 - System copy fails on SAPDFACT
import, but we are not able to drop the mentioned tables. We are
getting 'unknown tables' whereas we see them in DB.
We would like to avoid restarting the export and import phases from the beggining as there is approximately 80GB to transfer each time and we are not running this on a server but desktop PC.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Johann

    Hello Andreas
thank you for your answer. However, the table specified in the Note is not found when I am running the specified request in the correct schema:
    -4004: POS(16) Unknown table name:/MAXDB/INDEXSTATEMENTS SQLSTATE: 42000
SAP_BW component in Solution Manager 7.01 SPS24 is SAPKW70106. As this BW release is already more recent than the one recommended in the Note, this issue should not be link to an old BW component patch version then.
In the meantime, I have applied Notes 888210 and 942540. But I cannot drop the tables specified since the user SAPSMJ has no DROPIN privilege and I cannot grant them even when using SUPERDBA user.
So I think we need to re-run the export as we are running out of options to try continuing the import phase.
Regarding the use of last R3load release, would you know the path to download it on the marketplace and if I need the last  R3load kernel version (7.3) or only the last patch for 7.01 and knowing that I am using Netweaver 7.01 packages for the copy ? R3load used so far is 7.01/V1.4.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Johann

  • No username of Source system is avbl after livecache system copy

    Hi Experts
I have done a livecache system copy from the source system to target system. Here the steps are
Assume my Source SYstem Livecache is RP1 and Target System livecache is RS1.
    1. Taken Source system livecache DATA and LOG Area backup RP1.
    2. Defined the same source system backup medium name in Target System (RS1 and moving the Source system Liveacache backuped files to Target system and defined the medium name as per that)
    3. put the livecache db_admin mode
    4. db_activate RECOVER <medium_name>.
    5. recover_start <log_medium_name> LOG <nnn>
    6. db_online.
    Here we faced that
    ERR
-24622,ERR_AUTOLOADSYSTAB: Automatic loading of the System Tables failed
    -24907,ERR_DBAWRONG: Wrong database system administrator
    -24988,ERR_SQL: SQL error
    -4008,Unknown user name/password combination
So we activated the SUPERDBA as " db_activate SUPERDBA,<password>
then it came to online. and afterwards we have used the load_systab command to load the tables.
BUT we could not find any Source System name like "RP1ADM" in the tables of the livecache database. Only there are CONTROL,SUPERDBA username availbale. Usually there will be also the source admin name . I dont know why it is missing
Before a month we have done livecahe restore same as now in that time we got the source system name admin also. ( RP1ADM) and also tables which owned by RP1ADM. alos i could find APPSYSPARAM table and the instance also registered.
But now in this restore we could not find the above.
We followed the same procedure and there is no change in the steps also.
    Could anyone help me...
    Regards
    bala

    Hello Bala,
    1. As I wrote you already, the notes:
886103 System Landscape Copy for SAP SCM
877203     Post steps after the Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/
457425     Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore
has all recommended steps to do, when you will run the u201CSystem Landscape Copy for SAP SCMu201D
    2. If you run the u201CHomogenous liveCache copy using backup/restoreu201D you should pay attention to the note 457425. After you imported the complete data backup < step 2. > you need to update the system tables.
To update the system tables you need to know the correct database SYSDBA user & password.
After you restored the databackup of the source database, start the database online & run u201Cselect * from usersu201D SQL command to see the SYSDBA user. Then check that you know the DBA user ( DataBase Administrator ) & password of the source database instance => Open the SQL session with this
    user & password.
    Example:
    after db_activate recover <medium_name>
    login as control,password
    db_online
    sql_execute select * from users
    sql_connect  superdba,<password of source system>
If you didnu2019t get error with the last command, then you could update the system tables with the superdba,<password of source system> using load_systab command.
The system tables will be updated & the correct SYSDBA user & password will be updated in *.UPC file.
    3.
    user_sysdba:
You make the database system administrator known to Database Manager. It is only necessary to use this DBM command if the database administrator is not known or is incorrectly known to Database Manager.
    u201CI have tried like this
    after db_activate recover <medium_name>
    login as control,password
    db_admin
    user_sysdba superdba,<password of source system>
    db_onlineu201D
You could update the .upc files with the wrong SYSDBA user password u2026
You was lucky, that you knew the correct SYSDBA user and password of the source database.
Example  < NLK is my local database >:
    A.     I could update the .upc file with wrong password of SYSDBA user:
    dbmcli -d NLK -u control,control
    dbmcli on NLK>user_sysdba superdba,test
    OK
    dbmcli on NLK>db_online
    OK
    dbmcli on NLK>load_systab
    ERR
    -24909,ERR_DBAUNKNOWN: SYSDBA unknown
    dbmcli on NLK>exit
    B.  I could update the .upc file with wrong SYSDBA user:
    dbmcli -d NLK -u control,control
    dbmcli on NLK>user_sysdba test,test
    OK
    dbmcli on NLK> user_get test
    OK
    u2026
    dbmcli on NLK>sql_connect test,test
    ERR
    -24988,ERR_SQL: SQL error
    -4008,Unknown user name/password combination
    dbmcli on NLK> dbmcli on NLK>sql_connect superdba,admin
    OK
I could connect as test, test; but the test user is NOT SYSDBA user u2026
    dbmcli -d NLK -u test,test
    dbmcli on NLK>
Itu2019s recommended to user the load_systab command, so the .upc files will be updated with the correct SYSDBA user/password or
    you will get error.
    4. http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/86/68627a1bc642e6a6f73d3bc7a55fe1/content.htm
    You got error:
    ERR
-24622,ERR_AUTOLOADSYSTAB: Automatic loading of the System Tables failed
    -24907,ERR_DBAWRONG: Wrong database system administrator
    -24988,ERR_SQL: SQL error
    -4008,Unknown user name/password combination
The automatically updating the system tables, according to the default value, is switched on.
After you will run the update system tables with the correct SYSDBA user & password the *.UPC file will be updated,
and with the next liveCache restart you will not get this error.
    5. See more information in the MAXDB library:

  • Odd System Copy

    Hello Experts,
I am performing a homogeneous system copy on linux w/ MaxDB.  The source system is really more like source systems.  Using one database instance (XDB), I have an ERP 6.0 EHP4 system (XS1) and an EP instance (JS1).  My first step was to export the database using the Database Manager; then I made the export available to the target system.  The system copy for the abap application server went without a problem.  Now I am having trouble with the J2EE system copy.
My assumption was that the single MaxDB export contained both the ABAP schema (SAPXS1) and the J2EE schema (SAPJS1DB).  Also, I assumed since XS1 and JS1 are two separate instances sharing a single database instance, then I would also need to complete two system copies.  Were any of those two assumptions false?
My hope was to skip the recovery w/ initialization step during the J2EE system copy since the DB containing the J2EE backup should already be loaded in the target database host.  The error I'm encountering on the J2EE system copy is "You can not use existing instance while installing with backup/recovery method."  Sadly, that error message is very straight forward and doesn't leave much hope to complete both system copies using this method.
A system copy for both ABAP and J2EE stacks ins't the correct path, is it?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Zach Shay

    Markus,
    Update #1:
It appears that sapinst will allow me to do a system copy of the J2EE stack via the first method.
Standard System Copy / Migration (load-based)
What is a bit queer on the whole situation is the wording that sapinst is presenting me.  sapinst asks me for a "Migration Export."  I supply the directory with the label, "JAVA."  Then sapinst asks me if I would like to use the existing database or create a new one.  It allows me to select use existing database (which is a step past what is allowed via Homogenous System Copy)!  However, sapinst then asks me for another Migration Export....  Unfortunately this Migration Export has the label "SAP:MIGJDMP:701:::*", and is a label not present in any of my export directories (or subdirectories).
The labels I have from the ABAP and Java exports are:
    SAP:JMIG:701:*:*:*
    SAP:MIGSDM:701:MIGRATION:*:*
    SAP:MIGAPPS:701:MIGRATION:*:*
    SAP:MIG:*:EXPORT(1/:*:*
Is this MIGJDMP Migration Export related to a database export via R3Load or something similar?  If so, how do I get this?
    \[reading more documentation...\]
    Thank you,
    Zach

  • Heterogeneous system copy. Error in SMIGR_CREATE_DDL

    Hello!
    I perform a heterogeneous system copy of RHEL5/Oracle11/ERP6/0 > RHEL6/MaxDB/ERP6.0
I use the "System Copy Guide for SAP Systems Based on NW 7.0 SR3 ABAP + Java". At the stage "4.2 Generating DDL" statements is a problem. I'm doing "Call transaction SE38 and run the program SMIGR_CREATE_DDL."
    But i get error:
    Runtime Errors         DATASET_NOT_OPEN
    Exception              CX_SY_FILE_OPEN_MODE
    Date and Time          20.09.2011 12:16:01
    Short text
         File "/EXPORT_DDL/SQLFiles.LST" is not open.
    What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "CL_SMIGR_DDL==================CP" had to be
          terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
    What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
         administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_FILE_OPEN_MODE', was not
         caught in
procedure "WRITE_DDL_TO_FILE" "(METHOD)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
         clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
When accessing the file "/EXPORT_DDL/SQLFiles.LST", the system recognized that
         this file is
not open. Therefore, the file cannot be accessed.
    How to correct the error
Before the first access, the file must be opened using the ABAP language
element "OPEN DATASET '/EXPORT_DDL/SQLFiles.LST'" and after the last access,
         it must be
closed using the language element "CLOSE DATASET '/EXPORT_DDL/SQLFiles.LST'".
If the error occurred in your own ABAP program or in an SAP
program you modified, try to remove the error.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
        keywords:
        "DATASET_NOT_OPEN" "CX_SY_FILE_OPEN_MODE"
       "CL_SMIGR_DDL==================CP" or "CL_SMIGR_DDL==================CM003"
       "WRITE_DDL_TO_FILE"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
       1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
       (Unconverted)".
    I forgot something to do?

    >      File "/EXPORT_DDL/SQLFiles.LST" is not open.
Make sure the user <sid>adm is permitted to write to that directory.

  • Homogeneous System Copy - Export Import of RFC's, ALE, Content Repositories

    Good Morning,
I have a landscape with a Development and Production Systems with SAP R3 Enterprise 4.70 Ext 110, MaxDB 7.5, HP-UX 11.23. A Homogeneous System Copy is going to be done from Production to Development.
I have a idea to be able to recover the RFC's, ALE and Content Repositories Information after the Copy, which is to create a transport order with the structures which contain data for the RFC's definition, the ALE configurations and definitions and the Content Repositories configurations and definitions in Development and after the copy, transport the orders back to Development. The problem is that i don't know which structures should i use, and if my idea is viable?
For example, if i go to transaction oac0 and look at the content repositories and if i look at the Technical Information, i can see that the fileds with data are from Structure SCMS_SCREP, but my question is, inserting thsi structure in a transport order to import after the copy willbe enough? Aren't there more structures i need to insert in a transport order? And for RFCs and ALE?
Can anyone help me on this matter please?
    Kind Regards,
    Pedro Gaspar

    Hi,
If the target system is being refreshed then first secure any information that you may require.
    1) Backup user master and authorization data from each client where this data needs to be retained.
Use transaction SCC8 to export this data.  Select profile SAP_USER and specify target system = TARGET_SID.
    2) Backup RFC tables to restore destinations afterwards.
the only below tables required to take backup.
Call SE01 and create a new request of type = ""Transport of Copies"" with description = ""Export RFC destination tables prior to system refresh"".Make sure to specify a Target for the request or no data file will be created.
    RFCATTRIB
    RFCCHECK
    RFCDES
    RFCDESSECU
    RFCDOC
    3) ALE / Partner profiles.
Call WE20 and select each partner profile.
Follow menu path ""Partners --> Check"" and obtain a list of tables used.
The only tables listed were the ones listed below.
These tables are client-dependant therefore you will have to logon to each client and call SE01 and create a new request of type = ""Transport of Copies"
      EDPP1
      EDP13
      EDP21
Also document the WE21 --> Ports --> Transactional RFC" section.
Run transaction BD64 and document each configured distribution model.  This information is client-dependent so make sure to record values for each required client. and also record RFC destinations for synchronous method calls in BD97.
I hope it will help you.

    Kiran .V
