Honda Music Link and nano problem

I have a new Honda Music link and it will not work with my 2G nano... I am assuming it is a firmware isssue like the regular 5th gen ipods however Honda does not have any answers as to which firmware version works with their product. I keep getting a flashing D-1 when connecting my iPod. I have already tried versions 1.1 and 1.2 and 2.0 (which crashed my ipod). HELP!!! The dealer said it worked with other iPods, but I have no proof?

I suspect that the dealer is correct.
My wife has a 2006 Accord EX Sedan and the MusicLink ceased to work with her 5G iPod after iTunes 7 and Firmware 1.2 (flashing 6 in AUX-CD mode). It does however still work with my first gen. iPod Nano.
I prefer to use the MusicLink without the TTS software, and have therefore not tried MusicLink 1.3.

  • IPod Nano 2gen and Honda Music Link 2.0 compatibility issue

I have compatibility issue with my iPod Nano 2nd generation and Honda Music Link 2.0 adapter.
My iPod is on 1.1.3 firmware (the latest), and it doesn't work with Honda Music Link:
I have iPod Nano 2nd Generation (Firmware 1.1.3). I created playlists on iPod like it is written in documentation (Honda1, Honda2, etc.).
I connect iPod, press CD/AUX and it flashes CDC 9 for a while then says CDC Error.
Music is playing but I cannot control iPod from Head unit buttons. The only way to change tracks/playlists is to do it directly on iPod.
Note that when iPod is connected there is no "Honda" logo on it as it is supposed to be.
I discovered that iPod Nano 2gen work with Honda Music Link if the iPod is on 1.0.2 firmware.
Moreover Honda Music Link even doesn't work with other iPods which are on latest firmware version. So the only problem to solve the problem I see is to downgrade the iPod. Buying new one won't solve the problem.
Could you provide me this old firmware 1.0.2 for my iPod Nano 2gen (ipsw + signature files)?
If you cannot please provide me a way how to solve my problem.

I suspect that the dealer is correct.

  • 2nd Gen Nano Firmware 1.1.2 - Honda Music Link

I've got an 8gb Nano with firmware 1.0.2 which works just fine in my 2006 Pilot with the Honda Music Link. Does anyone know if the latest firmware, 1.1.2 works with it as well? I believe that 1.1.1 did not work with the Link.

You've posted this in the Fifth Generation iPod forum. The Second Generation Nano forum can be found here: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=195&featured=y.

  • Connecting iPod to Honda Music Link

I need help! I have a 5th Gen iPod, and also I have a Honda Music Link, connected to a Honda Accord. I recently updated th e iPod software from 1.1.2, to version 1.2 (the newest version). Guess what, my iPod is now not recognized by my car audio system. It only shows a blinking "CD-01" all the time, and I can't manage my iPod with the car system controls as I could before I did the upgrade. I tried to restore the iPod and loaded the TTS entries again, but no luck.
Does anyone uses this and has the same problem as I have? What can I do to resolve the problem? Please help, I really hate my iTrip!!

Thanks for checking. I have a ticket open with Acura corporate regarding the issue, and I am going to call them back today.
I am also trying to avoid the restore "nuclear"
option. I wish Apple would issue a patch soon. I wonder what percentage of iPod owners are Acura/Honda Music Link users? Probably <1%? That said, I hope we're not low on the priority list.
Someone is going to need to fix this soon (Honda or Apple). Both parties essentially promised us a Music Link that works with iPod. The Acura Music Link instructions even ENCOURAGE updating to the latest software. Anyway, I'll keep posting if I find out anything...

  • Honda Music Link Bummer

The troubles with using the Honda Music Link interface/software and updated iTunes has been well covered here, but I had a few things to offer.
I too had my Music Link crap out after updating my 20g Ipod Photo, and I have spoken to Honda Customer Service a few times. Today they told me that Alpine, which makes the Music Link for them, is waiting for Apple to release a Vista-compatible iTunes update before they do anything about the current Music Link issues, even though we are (obviously) using Macs. They don't have any e.t.a. for wen this will happen, but think it will most like not happen until November! I just bought my Honda Fit, and I paid (too much) for a non-working upgrade, as did you all.
Also, it has been confirmed that Honda had discontinued the Music Link in order to fix the bugs and offer a better product. Not a lot of good that does us current owners...
I realize that users have found that reverting to a previous version of the iPod firmware gets you up and running, but don't you think it's sort of ridiculous to have to do that? Doesn't Apple realease firmware updates for a reason? I personally don't want to revert my iPod to a previous firmware version, and it's not easy to do so.
Personally, I am going back to my Honda dealer and getting a refund for this inferior product, or I'm at least going to have them exchange it for an aux input ( I do not have the Sport model Fit, but an upgraded base model without the aux in jack). At least with the aux in jack you can see what is playing on your iPod.
Has anyone had any luck with their dealers regarding this? Up until now they've told me to bring my car in to the service center, even though there is no solution and a long wait to get in.....

  • Honda Music Link

Anyone have any feedback they'd share about this product?
It is a system whereby one can attach one’s iPod via cable to a Honda “radio system” and control and play the iPod through this system. I recently bought a 2007 Honda Fit and the Honda Music Link. I found that its generic setup provides only that one can shuffle through the iPod’s songs or albums. The only control one has is to skip forward or backward between songs or albums. However, a CD is provided that purports to provide functionality to allow playlist, artist, album, and genre selection. To implement this, one moves software from the CD onto one’s computer and then downloads this into the iPod.

I just uninstalled the software you're describing. I found the interface using my new 2006 Accord's audio controls to be very clunky, slow, and frustrating. What it does is it uses Windows' text-to-speech function, which is clunky enough on its own. The Honda TTS software scans all of your iTunes music tags. It then creates spoken lists of the playlists, artists, albums, and genres. After you've updated your iPod with this new Honda TTS data, you connect it to the Music Link cable in your car that you're already using for the more basic functions. The idea is that you can now hear a spoken list of letters, you choose the letter you want, and then you can hear a spoken list of playlists, artists, albums, or genres, and make a selection. That's the idea, anyway.
Unfortunately, it's just too slow and awkward, and requires a lot more button-pushing than I'm willing to do, especially when I'm driving. For example, let's say I want to hear a playlist. First I have to use the "Disc 5" and "Disc 6" buttons to cycle through to get to "Disc 1" (which is where the spoken playlists are). Then I have to hit the "seek/scan" button to get the letters of the alphabet spoken in a very artificial and not-so-easy to understand voice. Then I have to hit the "seek/scan" button again to stop the spoken alphabet at the right letter (the one that my playlist begins with). Then I have to hit the "seek/scan" button again (and there are two ways you have to hit it, sometimes you have to hit it and release immediately, other times you hit it and hold it for a second or more, but not too long).
Finally, you're supposed to be able to hear the list of playlists that start with the given letter, and then hit "seek/scan" again to hear the one you want. It was at this point that I gave up, because no matter how carefully I hit the button, the playlist that actually played was never the one I wanted. It was always off by a few playlists. To make it worse, the spoken playlists are almost unintelligible.
Needless to say, this is not the sort of problem that the dealer can fix, since the problem is the inferior software with too long a lag time between pushing the button and getting a response. I called Honda's 800 support number, but they were not able to help, though they did offer to have the Music Link removed and my money refunded. I appreciated that, but I want to keep the Music Link, I just won't use the software.
It's much easier to create a playlist that you want to hear in your car, or just select one that you've already created, select the first song on your iPod, and then connect it to Music Link. That will allow you to hear the playlist without all of the button pushing and the annoying mechanical voice.
You may have better luck with this software than I did, but I was just glad to succesfully uninstall it, re-synch my iPod to remove all of the added data, and go back to using the iPod in the car without the additional functionality that the Honda TTS software is supposed to provide.
I'm sorry this is so long, but I thought you might save yourself some time and trouble if you had an idea of what you may be in for if you decide to install this software. Hope this helps!

  • Links and destinations problems - page view

    Hi there,
I'm working on a large PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. This PDF has a LOT of internal links, and I want to link to a page view, and inherit zoom. Not only do I have to manually change the zoom to "inherit zoom" after I create a link, but Acrobat has stopped saving my changes.
Things were going along swimmingly for awhile - I was creating links, making the destination a page view (so that the user can find the appropriate glossary entry I'm linking them to), and then going back and choosing "Inherit Zoom". And then copying the link and pasting it throughout the document as I needed. all great. Until, randomly, one of the links didnt' test right. I clicked on it and was taken to the TOP of the page, not the page view - its action was set to "Go to a page in this document" instead of "Go to a page view". So I deleted that link, and started over with a fresh one, making sure it was set to "Go to a page view". Then I copied that link, and pasted it 2 pages later. I tested that second link, and once again it just took me to the top of the page. I tested the original one - the one I made to replace the faulty one 2 pages ago - and even though I had JUST set it to page view, it too just went to the top of the page.
This is so frustrating - Acrobat is literally just ignoring my commands. I am at a loss as to what to do. Please help!

  • Hey Music Video And Song Problem

Hey I was wondering If there is an Option That I am missing or a bug but for my iPhone i have one playlist that has some songs and music videos combined in it. On my iPhone when i click on songs all of the music videos and songs come up but when play a music video i don't get the video and i just get the Sound. but in the video section i just get the Music Videos. is there a way to get rid of the music videos in the songs section.
    Thanks.

You would need to remove the music videos from the playlist in itunes and re-sync the iphone.
If that does not help, there is a checkbox, called include music videos, on the music tab in itunes, when the iphone is connected, that you can uncheck.

  • 80GB Classic with music, photo, and video problems

I have had a number of problems since getting my 80gb iPod classic.
    1. Music: I keep finding songs that play perfectly in iTunes, but then stop a few seconds into the song when I play them back on the iPod. The first time this happened, I had to delete the song from iTunes and then rip it back into iTunes from the CD to get it to work. The other songs I haven’t tried to fix yet, but, so far, they are all from CD’s and not downloaded MP3’s. I also noticed that they were all ripped from the CD using an older version of iTunes.
    2. Photos: Very few of the photos I tried to download to the iPod were transferred. I got a message saying they would not work on iPod, but no reason why. They are just simple .jpg files from my camera (Canon Powershot S3 IS). Most of the photos that did get transferred were corrupt. The pictures were all broken up and colors were switched around. I tried changing them to .bmp files and also changing the size to 640x480, and that helped some of them, but not all. The only pictures that worked flawlessly were not photos, they were cartoons.
    3. Video: I have a number of QuickTime videos that work fine in iTunes until I convert them to iPod files. Most of the converted videos showed a blank white screen in thumbnail form in iTunes. When I play them, iTunes only displays a couple of frames, and the sound stutters. They all transferred to the iPod, but every time I tried to play one, the video would crash and the iPod would reset itself.
I’m thinking about exchanging my iPod for a new one, but I’m afraid that all of the problems are iTunes or Windows Vista related, and I might end up trading a good iPod for a defective one with the same software problems.

I did find that if I saved all of my photos as bitmaps, resized them to 640x480, and got rid of the dashes in the filenames, that they would work.

  • The links and refresh problems

    Dear Friends,
I have a problems in my JSP code. In an session, I read a set of data into a Vector, display it by a table. The two JSP pages (A and B pages) are linked each other.
If I load B page through A page (link) it is fine, but if I reload A pape through B page, all of data display in a table is displaced twice. For example,
    original in A page
    1 a
    2 b
    3 c
    will be changed into
    1 a
    2 b
    3 c
    1 a
    2 b
    3 c
However if I manually refreshed it, the A page will correctly display again.
I am very confused. I removed all of elements from the vector. I can not find any reason on it.
Any person can give me some hints? Thank you very much.

  • Can't open e-mail link and other problem

I got following problem even one just encountered before sign in.
    1. I want to sign in clicked on I already have an account but did not work and have to click on Signin/Register tab any way my main problems.
    2. When I get an e-mail and if there is url link even I click it won't open rather return to same page. To open link I have to right click and chose open in new window.
    3. On website, if there is a slide show (ex. such as health/food related with photo and text) which need to click Next to read next details, if I click on next it won't work.
    4. Recent experience, on Yahoo web there is an online contact form, I have to choose topic/categories/subcategories. I can enter information in one or two fields but next field do not open even I click on them.
What could be the cause of above problems?
Regret to say if I use MS IE 9 I do not face above problems I have tested my self. From MS IE I have moved to Firefox and want to keep using it.

Oops, our posts crossed. The two main changes in Safe Mode would be: (1) disabling Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration, and (2) disabling all extensions. You can try to implement those manually in regular mode.
    '''(1) Hardware Acceleration'''
Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches with various display drivers.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, are any issues improved? I suggest keeping it disabled even if you do not see an immediate benefit.
    '''(2) Extensions'''
Disable ALL nonessential and/or unrecognized extensions. If in doubt, disable:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Then restart Firefox and test again.

  • Timeline - Cannot Move Tracks and Display Problem

I've created about a ten-minute timeline that I'd really prefer not to toss out because a lot of work went into creating parts of it and getting the timing right with the music, etc. When I first open the project in Premiere Elements, everything seems okay - my timeline plays with all transitions and I can scroll around in the timeline. However, I appear to have done something where whenever I click and drag to try to move a track, the timeline goes insane. I get a circle with a line through it for a cursor and a blank tooltip window, whether I try to drag the track horizontally or vertically. After that, while the timeline will still play, the timeline itself gets all wonky in its display, almost as if the video isn't refreshing on it. (It's kind of like the timeline has crashed.) I attached a screenshot of what it looks like. Whenever I move my cursor to the edge of the timeline, the timeline scrolls in that direction.
I'm running Premiere Elements 7 Educational Version on  a Core 2 Duo laptop with 3GB RAM, an Intel 965 graphics chip (latest Intel drivers are installed), and Vista Business 32-bit. The clips are from a standard DV cam (not HD), and there are some PNG format stills and MP3 sounds mixed in there as well. There are three active A/V tracks. I think that's all the relevant information, but ask me if you need more.
Can anyone tell me what I've done and/or how to fix this?

    Good morning every one!
The bad news: As expected the problem does still occur. The good news: I was able to track it down to one clip in the timeline.
To save others time, I will described what I have evaluated quite detailed in the following paragraphs...
As it seemed to me that deactivating the Windows indexing service made the usage of PrE more stable I thought that maybe file locks would cause the trouble. So I verified this by opening the project in PrE, writing and executing a small Java application that puts an exclusive file lock on one of the files from the project and tried to move the according clip in the timeline. It worked without any problems and the known symptoms did not occur. So we can put aside the file locks.
Afterwards I tried to reproduce the problem by playing around with the scene that caused problems last week. I tried by moving around the video clips and the problem did not occur. Then I remembered my statement I have made earlier, that the problems seemed to occur as I started to work with titles and music clips -- and bingo: I have three music clips in my "soundtrack" track and one of them seems to cause the whole trouble. After I have clicked on this specific music clip, the problem occurs and it is no longer possible to move anything in the timeline and the strange behaviour regarding the automatic scrolling when the cursor is at the left/right etch is activated.
It was easily reproducable: Restart PrE, open my project, move a video clip to verify that moving clips works, click on the specific music clip and the problem occurs. I have tried this several times and each time the problem occured. When I clicked on one of my other two music clips everything was fine -- same for the video clips I tried. So in my case it seems to be this single clip.
OK, what's specific regarding this clip: All my music files are placed on a share on my Windows home server (in contrast to the video footage which is located on the local HD). So I moved the "dangerous" music file to the local HD, changed the path to the file with a text editor directly in the PrE project file (which is a simple XML file) and started up PrE again. I verified that PrE takes the file from the local HD (server was down), but the problem did still occur. So it is not a network issue.
The next specific thing is, that this music file is the only file in my project which is a .wma-file -- the others are .mp3-files. So I did three things:
At first I downloaded the project file provided by SQFreak2 in this thread and checked whether he is also using .wma-files. The result: He does not use them.
As the second thing I again changed my project file in the text editor: I changed the path of the music clip to some other .mp3-file. Afterwards I opened up PrE with that project file, used the playback to verify that the other music file is referenced by the clip instead of the original wma-file and then tried to move the clip -- again the symptoms occured.
As the last step I created a new project, added the "problematic" wma-file, placed it on the "soundtrack" track and afterwards tried to move it. The result: No problems at all.
So it neither seems to be a generic problem with wma-files nor does it seem to be a file-specific problem at all.
Lets summarize the things from above: File locks do not cause any trouble. In my project a single audio clip seems to cause the problem. The problem seems to be caused by the clip and not the file referenced by the clip (no matter whether local or server based, wma or mp3, the problem occurs in every case).
What I have learned? Well, I am not sure. But in the meanwhile I am quite sure, that it hasn't to do anything with hardware and drivers, but that we are dealing with a bug in PrE that occurs in specific project cirumstances.
This morning I have got some additional ideas I would like to try to track the problem down (e.g. the problematic clip has a transition for a fade out in the end [when I did this I didn't knew, that a fade out could be easily achieved in the clip's properties] -- I will try to remove this one and look what will happen).
P.S.: In one of my earlier posts I stated the assumption that the problem occurs as soon as I move the mouse cursor over the vertical scroll bar of the timeline -- but this is definitely not the case.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Ipon nano 3rd generation red. Sync and storage problems.

I have just got the new iPod nano (product red) 8 GB capacity. When i started to sync with my Intel Macbook i got suprised with a sync and storage problem. It starts syncing and suddendly it stops and lock the iPod and the Itunes. The must surprising is that happens every time the storage capacity reaches about 300 mb of music. Does anybody got this kinf of problem?
I have tried all the solutions I have found: formatting the iPod, connecting on a PC, restoring the factory settings and nothing works.

You'll want to copy what is currently on the Nano to your iTunes library on the laptop.  Your iPod can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time. See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.
