Hone sharing center

hi, I have Apple TV but now I have problems connecting to my home sharing center and my library on my PC...my apple TV says it looks for my library..but I get error msg that I should make sure the computer is on the same network which is it and Itunes is running and up to date. All that is OK and this was working before....??? Apple will not help me because I have the old Aplle TV....:-(

Try the steps in this document from Microsoft.
SFC will scan the system files and attempt to repair any files that are detected to be corrupted or bad.
Since the issue started fairly recently, the system restore option at the bottom of the document may be the simplest solution.  If you choose this option, be sure to select a date before it happened.
If it works properly after the restore, you may want to monitor the system for a few days to verify if something changes just prior to the issue returning (in the event it does return).
Let me know what happens.

  • Videos not showing up on iphone4 via hone sharing?

Hi, I recently sold my MacBook pro and I'm going to buy a MacBook air, but in the meantime I'm
Using my wife's hp laptop. I added a movie and a couple tv shows and they are working fine on the computer, they are in the right format. Hone sharing is on, on both the pc and the iPhone. The videos show up fine on my apple tv2 but when I navigate to my shared folder on the iPhone and go to the videos section they are not there, if I go to playlists and hit recently added I can see them, but now I can not even see them there, any ideas what is wrong? On my Mac I never had this happen

    Hi,
I seem to have the same problem. Not all my TV shows are appearing in my iphone 4 although they are visible in the playlist "recently added". Anyone an idea?

All this and I have full access to the internet.  What is going on?  How to fix?

    Hi,
For this issue, first I suggest you keep the latest driver for the network adapter, and disable other network adapters except the one you're using now, check if this issue persists.
or you can delete this wifi profile in manage wireless networks, then manually reconnect to this wifi, check if it make any difference.

  • WIN-E4UR1A468LC in my "Network and Sharing Center"

I recently downloaded a couple of media players. After installing not only did they not work the way I wanted but I got some additional stuff (viruses) installed as well. I have ran my antivirus and anti malware live and in safe mode. I ran a rescue disk on my computer, and still I can't get onto the www. I can access my email via Microsoft Outlook, but both browsers (Internet Explorer and Firefox) can't connect to the internet. BTW, when I'm in "Safe Mode" or running my rescue disk, I can access the www just fine. Now I see in my "Network and Sharing Center" that I have a new device under the heading "Home Automation", WIN-E4UR1A468LC. Does anyone know what it is and what it does? I suspect it is, at least, part of my problem. Right clicking than going to Properties, doesn't tell me much either. Manufacturer: Lenovo
    Model: LnvCon1.0
    Model number 1-00-00
    Device Website: Presentation webpage unavailable
    Serial number: 0000001
    M.A.C. address: Unavailable
    Unique identifier: uuid: 73a2b265-6259-44ce-a03b-cdc5aa358dcf
IP address: 127.0.0.1 Obviously a bunch of bogus information.
I am afraid if I try to uninstall WIN-E4UR1A468LC I may end up doing more harm than good. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

did you upgrade your Windows 8.1 from XP?

    Check OP reply:
A follow up for anyone reading this. My problem was apparently caused by upgrading from XP and usinging the keep files and settings option. Though there are very limited items brought over from an XP installation, something buried somewhere disabled the
    network connections.
To fix this, Windows 8 has a new feature called reset. This basically does setup all over again if you choose the erase files option. You have to enter the product key again when you do this. It is a clean installation.  I had to update the graphic
card drivers, add Media Center back in, install the HD Homerun Prime software, run the cable advisor, do TV setup and finally have it working as I had planned.
I suggest try same procedure (if you upgrade from XP to Windows 8.1), choose reset and reinstall back all the drivers

  • Hone sharing...can't find tv shows on iPhone 4s

    Hey All,
I'm able to access my music via home sharing, but when I go to videos on my iPhone it only shows downloaded TV shows (not the ones in my library on my computer). Am I just looking for these in the wrong spot? I was able to do this on my iPhone 4 and the old OS but now I have a 4S with iOS 6 and I can't seem to figure it out.
    Thanks

I guess we share the same problem; I can't make "TV show" menu visible in iPod. Until it is solved I am just changing properties (right click on iTunes library) from TV show to Movie (or to music video) to be able to watch TV show on iPod.

  • Windows 7 computers asking for network password to access shared files and printers on Windows XP PRO computer.

I have a network of 10 computers configured as peer-to-peer work group. I have upgraded one of the ten from Windows XP PRO to Windows 7 PRO. The other nine computers are all running XP PRO. AS near as I can tell they are all configured the same. I have the
same user and same passwords on all computers. One of XP computers is used as a print server. The Windows 7 computer initially was able to access shared files and printers on all XP machines with out requesting a network password.
Suddenly, the Win 7 computer began requesting a network password to access the shared files and printers on the XP print server. It will not accept any of the user names or passwords (all administrators on both machines with identical names and passwords.)
The Win 7 computer has no problem accessing the shared files on the other XP machines. It can even access shared printers in a different work group. Apparently something has changed but I'm at my wits end trying to figure what changed on either the Windows

    2.
On the Windows 7 computer, go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings” and ensure that the
    following items are turned ON:
    Network Discovery
    File and printer sharing
    And this one is OFF:
    Password protected sharing

  • Printer sharing problem in Network Magic

I have a desktop computer running Windows XP connected to a HP Photosmart 1115 printer.  I have a laptop running Windows 7.  I installed Network Magic on both machines.  The network map is showing the printer with a yellow directional arrow going both ways.  When I right-click on the printer and choose "Complete printer setup"  a pop-up screen appears "Connecting to hp photosmart 1115 series on (name of desktop)."  Then another screen pops-up "No driver found".  Then another screen pops-up "File needed:  Printer driver INF for Hp photosmart 1115 series".  Not sure where to look on desktop?  I tried some inf printers drivers but I get "Windows cannot connect to printer".  I also get error 0x00000214 which tells me to set-up the printer by creating a port with \\desktopname\\printername.  This changed the look of the printer icon in the control panel but the printer did not work on either of the machines.  The only way I can print from the laptop is to save my files into a shared folder and then go to the desktop and open the shared folder and print.  Is there any other solution to this problem besides buying a new printer that is compatible with Windows 7?  There are no drivers from HP available to work in Windows 7.  I also am using Norton Security Suite with Comcast.

    Hi jamhome,
You will not be able to use the Printer from your  Windows 7 Laptop without compatible Windows 7 Drivers. I purchased a Lexmark X6570 which is Wireless and works in Windows 7 Utlimate 64-Bit Version Computer.
You need to purchase a Printer or All-in-One that plugs into the Router or is Wireless to each computer.
You also need to open up Windows 7's Network and Sharing Center which may  or may not help.
If you need additional help include the information that the posts at the top of the Forum asks for.

  • Printer Sharing across platforms - can someone tell me ...

if I can share a printer between an XP system and a Win 7 system?
Before I enter all the system data, I just wondered if someone already knew the answer to this one. I was successsfully sharing a non network printer plugged into an XP machine via USB and printing to it via Network Magic from my Vista machine, but since I upgraded Vista to Win 7, I cannot. Everytime I try to install the remote printer or access it in any way from my Win 7 machine, I get the Windows message: " Windows cannot connect to the printer". This also occurs form within the Network Magic Map if I try to Complete Printer Setup. It shows up on my Win 7 machine when I want to ADD a Printer, but I cannot install it. It shows as Shared on the XP machine.
    Thanks for any assistance!

    Hi S.,
You need to use Network and Sharing Center and open up your computer. You need to use the Public Profile and turn on Network Discovery. Not sitting in front of Windows 7 at the moment.
Otherwise, you need a Wireless Printer or All-In One Machine or a Printer that plugs into the Router using an Ethernet Port.

  • Printer Sharing thru Vista

We had setup Printer Sharing a few months ago when I had a sony vaio notebook after MUCH difficulty and stress. It turned out to be the Norton Internet Security was the issue. We changed the trust control level and that allowed the 2 computers to communicate with each other. NOW my mom has a dv5t and we also have a family computer (Pavilion a6460t). Both systems are running Windows Vista Home Premium w/SP1 32 Bit. Now we're using NIS 2009 on both of the computer and I'm trying to setup Printer Sharing for her so she can print from her laptop to the printer that's connected thru a USB cable to the desktop computer. However I'm experience difficulty yet again and don't have a clue as to what's going on. Right now both computers are set to "Private Network" on the Network & Sharing Center. Network Discovery is ON for both computers. Printer Sharing is turned ON on both computers. Password protected sharing is turned off for both computers. Both the laptop and desktop are connected to the SAME wireless router (Linksys WRT610N). Also to be clear the Workgroup for both systems is "WORKGROUP" The laptop's computer name is "JSimpson-PC" and the desktop's name is "SIMPSONFAMILY-PC". Yet when I go to the Network & Sharing Center and click on "View full map" the map on my the desktop ends up showing ONLY the desktop connected to the router connected to the internet globe. It's like it does not recognize the laptop that's connected to the SAME wireless router (Linksys WRT610N) I go to the dv5t and I go to Network & Sharing Center, click on "View full map" and the SAME thing happens. The map shows the laptop's PC Name connected to the router connected to the Internet globe. Again it's like the he laptop does not recognize the desktop. However the network map that appears when I click on "View ful map" for BOTH systems shows the XBox 360 which is connected to the router thru an ethernet cable.... As for NIS 2009 I tried changing the network trust level to FULL TRUST and that didn't change anything...so I don't know what else to do or what's going on. I tried contacting Linksys thinking it might have to do with the wireless router but they told me that it has nothing to do with them and that I should contact MS or HP. However I think it may have to do with the router and I was wondering if maybe someone on here who's expert may know something. I would appreciate any and all help.

I was having the same problem with not being able to share files/printers. At first I would blame Vista but ultimately it was the router. This took just a simple search
on google but this is what you can try...
Go to router web-based utility and then to "port range forwarding"
Enter a name for the first item like "Printer Sharing1"
Enter range of 137 to 139 and select "both" and then enter the ip
address of the computer(laptop) not connected to the printer
Add a checkmark and then "save settings"
Enter a second item ie "Printer Sharing2"
Enter range of 445 to 445 and select "tcp" or "both" and again
enter the ip of the non-sharing computer and save.
After doing this I have never had a problem sharing files or printers.
    Hope this helps...

  • CUPS printer sharing across subnets?

I am trying to set up my local network printer so that everyone in the house can print from it. However I have two subnets in the house and I don't see how to connect to the Linux server through a Windows 7 client.
    My network is like so:
Upstairs: [Modem] <=eth0=> [Router 1]  Subnet of 192.168.0.*
    [Router 1]  <=wlan0 client mode=> Downstairs: [Router 2 with dd-wrt firmware] Subnet of 192.168.1.*
[Router 2] <=eth0=> CUPS server/PC with USB printer attached IP address of 192.168.1.1XX
This works: [Router 2] <=ath0.1 virtual wireless ESSID=> Windows 7 Laptop
    This doesn't: [Router 1] <=wlan0=> Windows 7 Laptop
    I tried
sudo cupsctl --share-printers --remote-any && sudo systemctl restart cups
on the host PC, but the W7 clients can't connect across subnets. Is there anyway to set it up so it can? They can easily connect to the ath0.1 network and then print, but it's inconvenient for them. The Windows users spend most of the time upstairs, and not downstairs, so they are usually connected to the wlan0 network.
I have the option of putting [Router 2] into client bridged mode so it shares the same subnet of [Router 1], however I can't seem to set it up properly and I run into problems. It is important to have the ath0.1 network downstairs, and I am unsure that client (bridged) mode will allow for the virtual interface.
I do not have Samba installed but I am considering trying that, but a simpler solution would be appreciated.
*Edited for further clarification & error fixing.

  • Printing to a shared printer on Windows 7 from 10.6

I have two MacBooks running Snow Leopard and I'd like to print to a shared printer on a Windows 7 desktop PC. I've tried putting all three computers on the same WORKGROUP but I still don't see the Win7 box. Help!

Windows 7 introduced a new sharing feature called HomeGroup that is supposed to replace the workgroup for home networking. However, the feature only works for Windows 7 connected to other Windows 7. Therefore, if the Windows 7 computer has been configured to use HomeGroup, the first thing you need to do is detach Windows 7 from the HomeGroup.
The next setting is the network profile for Windows 7 computer. Windows 7 provides four network profiles; Home, Work, Public and Domain. Based on the network location you choose, Windows assigns a network discovery state to the network and opens the appropriate Windows firewall ports for that state. Ideally the computer should be set to the Home or Work profile. You don't want the Public profile - it is designed for places like Internet cafe's so the sharing is very restricted.
With the network profile selected, another setting within the profile that can hinder the discovery of the shared printer is the network discovery setting. With this setting turned off, the Windows 7 computer will not appear under the respective workgroup (or if the setting has been changed after the computer was seen by the Mac, then it can appear in the workgroup computer list but will not show any shared printer - this is most likely due to the LAN manager timing). This setting can be accessed via Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings.
Also, within the Advanced sharing settings for the Work or Home profile, another setting called Password protected sharing can stop the shared printer from appearing. With this setting turned on, the Win7 computer will still be seen when adding the Windows shared printer, but after selecting the Win7 computer, the shared printer is not displayed as no prompt is given to enter user account details. So this setting needs to be turned off. Then when the Win7 computer name is selected, a prompt will appear requesting user account information. The Guest account can be selected here to see the shared printer name.
    *Adding the Printer*
Now that you can see the printer share, the next step is to add a printer driver that will support the printing via a Windows computer. The Canon drivers do not support this type of connection, even the so-called CUPS drivers. For this type of connection, the user must have the Gutenprint driver set installed, which may not be installed by default depending on the type of install they performed with Snow Leopard.
It is important to note that not every model of Canon inkjet and AIO is supported by the Gutenprint driver set. This is especially the case with the later models. In this situation, a user will either have to wait or check out the other CUPS application, PrintFab. Because there is a cost involved with PrintFab, users will typically avoid this application however the software does keep up-to-date with newer model releases compared to Gutenprint.

  • Remote / Home Sharing not working on a particular user account

I have recently purchased a new MacBook Pro 13" (Core i5) and I'm having issues using the Remote app on my iPhone 3GS, as well as using Home Sharing. I used Migration Assistant to transfer my account and files across from my previous MacBook (with which I never had any Remote or sharing issues).
If I try to connect using Remote it says "Remote can't connect to your iTunes library. Check your network settings and try again". Strangely, if I open the Remote app immediately after starting iTunes, it will work for about 15 seconds and then lose the connection.
For Home Sharing, if I try to click on "Shared" using my iPhone's iPod app, as soon as I click on my library it simply says "Cannot connect to Media library". Again, if I click on shared as soon as iTunes starts, I can select my library, which will then load, but once loaded it just cycles through any albums I choose without playing the tracks (e.g. it just silently shows each track name in turn for about half a second until the end of the album is reached).
As a test, I created a new user account, and when using that account these features seem to work fine. I have tried everything obvious, and have tried reinstalling iTunes and the Remote app. I have no firewall, and am properly signed into Home Sharing on all devices. As a test, I also just tried using my old MacBook again with the same iPhone, everything functions as expected. The problem seems to be directly related to this user account. Any ideas anyone?!
    Thanks!

May of found a fix (could be temporary but is working fine for me).  I had issues with itunes - iphone (remote app).
    - Turn on Home sharing on iPhone
    - Turn off Home sharing on Mac in itunes
    - On iphone (remote app) Click Add an itunes library manually
    - iPhone will appear in itunes device list - choose and setup (using passcode)
    - Now turn on hone sharing again.
    Should be working.
