Hong Kong/China Cals missing holidays?

Has anyone else noticed that the HK and China calendars (from apple) do not include Chinese New Year!? Its the biggest holiday of the year.
Is this some glitch only I'm getting?

I purchased an iPhone 4 from HK last year and have had no problems using it in both China and in Canada. Mine was purchased at an Apple store in HK, and I had used two different HK sims, a China sim, and finally a Rogers Canada sim here in Canada. No issues at all with usage, however, it appears that the current firmware update of 4.3.2 may cause issues if you update to it.
What specific issues are you talking about?
If you are planning to buy in Asia and then use it elsewhere, please keep the receipt so you can go to your local Apple store for any issues, or avoid the 4.3.2 firmware update until its been fixed or there is an announcement from Apple that there are no issues with it.
With regards to applications and iTunes, my phone works with all apps purchased through my Canadian iTunes account.

  • Can I use iPhone 6 plus in Hong Kong & China? What is the network over there?

Can I use iPhone 6 plus both in Hong Kong & China? What is the network there? GSM or CDMA?

    Hi there,
See this link here on iPhone 6/6+ and the LTE networks worldwide that I will work with....

  • Should I purchase CDMA or GSM iPhone for use in U.S. and Hong Kong/China?

I currently have an unlocked GSM iPhone 4 that I bought in Hong Kong, and have been using it in the US through Straight Talk. I love having the flexibility of an unlocked phone when I travel. Unfortunately, the GSM networks in my area are pretty spotty, and Verizon's CDMA coverage is MUCH better. Not to mention the data speed is really slow.
I'd like to purchase an unlocked iPhone 5s without a contract, and hopefully be able to use it on the CDMA network here in america, while still have GSM available for use when I travel back and forth to Asia.
The pros and cons of GSM vs. CDMA iPhones are still pretty muddy for me, but it sounds like buying a CDMA iphone would be better for my situation because I could utilize both networks when traveling, and yet have the best speed/coverage in my current home in the US.
Straight talk or Page Plus is what I'm looking to for carriers. Verizon's too expensive for me.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Does my choosing CDMA seem to be the best choice? Or are there any cons regarding purchasing CDMA that I've overlooked? I've heard people say there is no such thing as an unlocked CDMA iphone. My biggest concern is that I arrive in Asia and find that some CDMA lock prevents me from using any other carrier--CDMA or GSM. (Both networks are available there, btw.) I need to make sure I can use data and make calls when I'm there.
    2. If a CDMA iphone is the best choice for me, how do I purchase the right one without a contract? Apple store? Verizon? Straight Talk (do they sell CDMA iphones)?Canada? Ebay seems kinda risky to get an iPhone with the specifications I need.
    3. Does a CDMA iphone still have the slot for sim cards? That's how I've always switched carriers when in Asia.
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know that StraightTalk disabled their iphone's GSM capabilities. Guess I won't be going there to buy one.
    A few follow-up questions...
So is a SIM slot only used for GSM? This is something I never knew. I assumed for any network (GSM or CDMA) that a new sim card was the way you changed numbers/networks.
I've heard people mentioning that they've been able to buy Verizon iphones and use them on PagePlus, but this information was a year or two old, so perhaps things have changed with the newer models/carrier contracts. Do you know of any people who have had success in using a Verizon iPhone 5s on the PagePlus network?

  • Are Student Editions available for Hong Kong?

And are there resellers for student edition licenses in Hong Kong/China?

Unfortunately, you are far from the only ones having this problem. See for example this post:
    http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Software-Updates/Nokia-603-700-or-701-without-FP1-please-post-countr...
You will see there that I have found users posting similar problems from The USA, Colombia, The UK, Italy, Germany,  Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Macedonia, Israel, South Africa, Taiwan Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
So far as I can tell, Nokia is still plugging the FP1 upgrade on its web site in all these countries except Hong Kong and Taiwan, where it was shown as available until very recently, but where reference to it has recently been removed.
    Keep pressing.
    Good luck

  • Hi Nokia Europe, N900 user from Hong Kong (GPS pro...

    Hi Nokia Europe,
Do you know I had purchased ~ 10 series or more # of Nokia phone in the past!!
I had used N97mini for few months and dropped it, beacuse it always hang on the startup white screen!! I never had this experience on the past Nokia phones. Most of the people is very disappointed it!!
Until now, I am using N900, like many people in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and other Asian is waiting your programmer to fix the problem on GPS / Nokia Map!! The phone is useless if the map is not accurate then S60V3-V5,,,,,,,I did contact the local Nokia Shop, hotline, support etc...etc ... Their "professional" respone is " at this moment, we don't have any bug fix and ask me to wait ,,,forever".
Since I had purchased the phone on May, it was almost 4 months, I am not sure should I wait for it?? Or should I decide never use this brand any more ......(please let us know will you do the firmware update or Map update for N900 or not? please announce it...)
I just wanna to know will Nokia will care our Asia market?
Let me summarize the N900 problem:
    - No translation(Chinese words) on Nokia Map.
    - NoT accurate locate by the GPS module /Nokia Map...
    - no driver for N900's bluetooth~
    - How come the front camera is so dark??
Why this powerful phone can't use video call...?? Unbelievable....
    Thanks
    Hong Kong People

    I understand your concern goconnect.
Currently, there's no Chinese version of the Ovi Maps I believe. Don't blame Nokia for that, they're not the one who created the Maps after all. Go to NAVTEQ* and ask them why Ovi don't they add Chinese to the application that they supply to Nokia, because they're the one who created the maps, they are the one who updates the Maps data, therefore they're the one who can make changes.
    Second ISSUE:
Click on the 2nd link so that you can report the inaccurate maps. Make sure that you have a clear view of the sky if you're using GPS only. But if you're using AGPS you should be getting accurate location but you'll have to pay a small amount for the data connection that the phone uses when it connects to the Nokia server that will ASSIST your GPS module in locating you.
    3rd ISSUE:
Do you mean the problem is with the sound of Voice Navigation that is not working when you're using Bluetooth in your car? Don't worry, it's not just you that is experiencing that same concern, based on my "personal" investigation, the problem is not with the Maps application or the phone it self. It's with the current Bluetooth Technology.
You must know that the Bluetooth Transceiver that is installed in the phone is the one responsible for converting the sound in the device to a Bluetooth friendly format so that it can be transferred. However, the sound format that the Maps Application is using is either disallowed to be converted to a Bluetooth friendly format (which I doubt will happen) or is not  recognized as an actual sound format by the current Bluetooth technology.
You may then think about why not use a sound format that the Bluetooth can encode. Please take note that current sound format take space in the memory like .mp3 or .ogg. Imagine saving sound files for each and every street names for a particular country. It will eat the available space plus it will slow down the system due to large amount of data.
    4th ISSUE:
Front camera can only be used for SKYPE VIDEO CALLS. If you'll be using it for any other thing then you'll get a very bad result.
"Why this powerful phone can't use video call...?? Unbelievable"
The answer is that not all feature can be placed into one mobile device. And yes it is very powerful but it's not a "phone" go to http://maemo.nokia.com/n900/ and look for this
"Experience the speed and raw power of the high-performance Nokia N900 mobile computer." You see? You did not purchased a phone, you have purchased "mobile computer"
Truly Nokia made a mistake by releasing poorly tested product just to catch up with other brands but I don't want you to be loosing confidence for a brand just because you haven't tried to really learn more about the product before complaining.
And if you're planning to buy a new phone, wheter Nokia or Apple or Samsung or any other brand, you must make sure that you already know about that phone first so that you will not expect too much from a phone.

  • Hong Kong Ireserve - Suggestion

    Hi Apple,
I would like to know why Hong Kong region's Ireserve is allow China resident to apply?
It is unfair that they are using software to auto-submit the form to apple server directly.
You may search many Ireserve/AOS software are sold at http://s.taobao.com/search?q=iphone+6+bot&commend=all&ssid=s5-e&search_type=mall &sourceId=tb.index&spm=a213y.6633709.5803581.d4908513
For me, I wake up early in the morning(8am everyday) and send SMS and apply it in front of the PC everyday and found that less than 1 minute are ready out of stock for 3 retail shops. Why 8:00am start and you accept 8:00:05 or less time can success reserved, I don't think  that it human being and logical. (without  taking typing speed, from page 1 to page 3 should used up 10 seconds, right?)
I am not sure their software can skip to send SMS procedure and get the code or not, but they are able to get the captchaImage before 8:00 and get the SMS ID surely!
Here is my suggestion for your IT for consider:
    1. Collect & Record the IP address with PC information(Harddisk, CPU, RAM) that had success reserved. If the same IP address with PC request again within 5-10 seconds, the IP address will block for 1-2 minutes.
    2. To prevent software that keep submit or ping the apple server. block the ip address for 10 minute.
Finally, is the problem that I mentioned, China has many forge passport that HK apple retail staff is not able to check the "trust", so I am recommend that China IR for China resident and HK IR for Hong Kong resident ONLY. (China programmer using the software apply the ireserve and hand make a new passport on the same day!!)
    Await your reply.

    hi,
I just want to know why your company accept the IR/AOS submit time could be less than 1 seconds.....(this is absolutely is program operation)
As you know the iReserve page in Hong Kong need to open 3 pages to press the submit button. I don't believe that people can do it less than 30 seconds - 1 minute.
Up to now, Hong Kong & China people are using program to submit the reservation. I wonder that why you won't follow the rule in the past that submit the IR with person detail in the morning and get the e-mail notify to collect in the afternoon/next day? Randomly select  is more fair than Human vs Program sumbit the form on limited time.
Also, my suggestion is prevent people just apply the apply ID and play the IR, you may set some rule like:
    - Reservation only for the apply ID account is created before the 1st date of IR and the account should be active in the past, like login many times and purchased any product before.  etc.
Hence, for the people he/she using the ID 1234567 many times, they are faking the Apple staff that can be collect like this:
    A1234567
    A123456(7)
    A123456(7
    A1234567(7))
    A1234567.
    A 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
and more. They should be strictly prevent the people fake the Apple Co. Must match exactly the number show on ID card and the rule should clear stated that any issue number show on ID should /should not included and set by you.
Also my suggestion is while the Apple staff is checking the ID number, the ipad reservation program should also display the name of the peoples has took the iphone in the past.
Foe example: After typed the ID and found the ID. The ipad will use another column to list the history of the name of the person had collected that matched the the first name and last name that the people is checking. They can judge by them-self.
Or use a Face Recognition in the future.
    Thanks

  • How can I delete a subscribed calendar, Hong Kong holidays from calendar on Ipad 4. This was inserted through a hacked gmail account.

I Have an ipad 4 with ios 7. Through clicking on a link sent in a hacked gmail account, a 'subscribed' calendar, named Hong Kong holidays has been inserted into my calendar. How do I delete this calendar and how does it affect my personal details?
    I have changed my password.
    THank you

    Hi Cigire34,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Are you syncing the iPad with a computer and do you see the account on your computer? It sounds like you may have Google Calendar account setup on your iPad, which will have to be deleted from settings or the Google site. The instructions in the following article should help.
iOS: Syncing multiple Google CalDAV calendars
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4372
After adding your Google Calendar account using Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account… > Other > Add CalDAV Account, the primary calendar will sync with your device.
To sync additional Google Calendars, you must configure them using this tool on the Google website. Note that you must log in to your Google account to access this page.
    Cheers!

iPhone warranty is valid only in country of original purchase.
If the iPhone was originally sold in the Philipines, it must be
returned to there for repair/replacement. You must take it or
send it to a friend/relative there to take to Apple repair in the
Philipines. Apple does not accept international shipments for
repair nor does Apple ship out of the country after repair.
If Apple told you that the iPhone had to go to Hong Kong for repair,
then the iPhone was originally sold in Hong Kong and then resold
to you in the Philipines. In that case, take it to Hong Kong.

  • Holidays Calendar switched to Hong Kong!

Today I updated Mavericks to 10.9.4 and the Calendar application started showing the Honk Kong holidays calendar instead of the US holidays
Apparently there's no way to configure which calendar appears when selecting the "Show Holidays calendar" check box in Calendar's General Preferences...
My Mac Book Pro is correctly set ot the US locale and if I open Maps it gets the correct location (more than 10000 miles from Hong Kong...)
I seached through all the .plist files and Calendars data and nowhere found any reference to Hong Kong
Is there a way to configure the default holidays calendar? How Mavericks select the country?

First of all thanks for the help!
I did some more testing and I found the cause. In "System Preferences -> Language and Region" I have set US as the region but I changed the currency to Euro. If I put back US Dollar I see the correct US Holidays in the Calendar, but if I put any other currency I see the Hong Kong Holidays
It's only the currency that matters because changing the Measurements units to metric or selecting Monday as First day of week does not change the Holidays calendar
My solution was to subscribe to the US Holidays (https://p11-calendars.icloud.com/holidays/us_en.ics) in iCloud (File -> New Calendar Subscription) and disable the Show Holidays calendar check box
In the iPhone that's not happening because you can't select a different currency for each region

iPhones purchased from the online Apple Store in Australia will be unlocked. To the best of my knowledge, unlocked iPhone are not available from the physical Apple Stores at this time, though you can call the Apple Store in Melbourne and inquire.
Note that the warranty on iPhones is not international, so if you purchase an iPhone in Australia and it needs service, you would have to ship the iPhone to someone in Australia to take or send to Apple for service and then ship it back to you.
    Regards.

  • Traveling to China / Hong Kong - Ac Adapter

I have to go to China (Guangzhou and Hong Kong) in a couple of weeks. I have a S10 - model 4231 laptop. Does anyone know if I can use a power converter to run my laptop and charge the battery, or will I just need an adapter for the existing three prong plug to charge it. I appreciate any help I can get.
    Thanks

You should be able to use your S10 AC adaptor anywhere in the world since it is normally universal. Just check that the input on the adaptor says 100-240V, it should. What you need is just a suitable outlet adaptor so that it can plug into the AC outlet overseas. You can get a universal outlet adaptor for this purpose.

  • China, VPN via Hong Kong

    Hi guys,
I'll need some advice and info on this subject:
A client of a magazine splits his time between Israel & China. While he is in china, loading folios process in library is always failed. My first guess was; I don't have a GAPP license, so China blocking the answers from Adobes' cloud, and I was right… (see "Distribution of DPS content in China") But, and it's the weirdest thing, the client use VPN to surf via Hong-Kong and got no problem to watch YouTube, surf sites from around the world etc'… the only thing he can't do online (via the VPN of course) is to update the library.
Any ideas what is the problem? Is DPS can't use VPN as access point?  Else?
    Thanks

If you install the app from China store, the library should update fine. But folio download will still fail without the GAPP license.
