Hook 11" macair to projector?

I need to use my 11" macbook air to project a slide show. I am renting the projector so I need to know what cables i can get to connect projector to either the thunderbolt connector or the usb3
i know i can convert to firewire and to ethernet with cable converters
are there any other options out there?

You'll need to find out what interfaces are available for the projector input.  Then you need a MiniDisplay port to xxx adapter and a xxx cable.  xxx could be HDMI, DVI, VGA.   The MiniDisplay port adapter plugs into the Thunderbolt port.
Here's a sample of the MDP to HDMI adapter:

  • I want to use an IPad (w/retina display-newest) in my church hooked up to a projector

I want to use an IPad (w/retina display-newest) in my church hooked up to a projector and shown on a screen.  I'd like to do it wirelessly as the projector will be installed in the ceiling.  I am not sure exactly what I would need to get this set up. I do not have wifi at church or cellular but would be getting the iPad (not yet purchased) with wifi only.  If I use Apple TV to hook up the projector to, would it need wifi to work if I will only be using the ipad for documents, worksheets (much like what a school/professor would use) or other things that an app could do (draw a line, etc.)

Epson projectors have such a feature, so if you're going to buy a new projector, you might start with their units. The app is described here:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Landing/ProjectorApp.do
and there's a projector compability list linked from the very bottom of the page. There may be other projector manufacturers with similar apps, but I don't know for sure. All will probably also require a local WiFi network set up, though said network should not need Internet access if that's an issue for you.

  • IBook hooked up to Hitachi projector

I have a hitachi projection machine that I hook up my ibook to for the purpose of presentations. I use Keynote (iWork) which I love. However, I cannot get my screen to show the presenters notes, clock, etc. I go to the preferences of Keynote and make the selection but nothing changes. It is running as a dual output. Is there a way for my monitor on the ibook to have the speakers notes and not on the projector? I wasn't sure if this was an ibook or keynote question.
    Thanks,
    Randy

I'm afraid not. The video card in the iBook only runs in "mirror mode", meaning that the same thing is displayed on both the iBook screen and the external monitor/projector. The PowerBook will work in "dual monitor mode" where the presenter notes are displayed on the computer screen and the presentation itself is displayed on the projector.
Your best bet, if you rely on your presenter notes, is to print them out and put them somewhere inconspicuous.

  • Keynote hook up to a projector and smart bord

Im a high school student and I am wondering how I can hook up my iPad to a smart bord or screen projector to use the keynotes application and do a presentation?

    will this work
Yes, connect an CAT53 or CAT6 Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule. Turn off the wireless on the Mac Mini and you are all set.  Backups will occur at least 3-4 times faster than wireless, probably more.

  • I have an Apple TV hooked up to a projector, but would like to use the computer's speakers.

The iMac is hooked up to the amplifier, and is too far away for the atv to be plugged in as well. Any settings I can fiddle with?

If you wish to use home sharing then you need to setup the Apple TV under your ID.

  • Can I-pad 1 be hooked up to a projector

can I-pad 1 be connected to a projector?

Yes, but only apps that support video output (such as Keynote) will display. The iPad 1 cannot mirror its screen as can later models of iPad.

  • Hooking up an EPSON projector to my MBP

Help! how do i get my MBP to find this projector?

Posting the model number of your projector and how you're connecting (DVI, VGA, S-video, etc.) will probably help people help you.

  • Hooking up an external projector (Proxima desktop projector)

    Greetings all you helpful folks.
Bought an adaptor (mini VGA video output) to connect my iMac to an external projector; so i can show an iMovie to lots of people at once.
The projector does not detect any input. Tried several settings. After reading one posting that sounded helpful, (set display to "mirror") the iMac does not offer this option. (I do see it on my PowerMac, but maybe that's just a 10.4 bonus)
Any thoughts? or better yet, experience?
    Zep

Apple puts in the mirroring limitation in the i/e/mini Macs/books to encourage sales of the 'Power' Macs/Books which don't have the limitation.A nice German chap has posted a fix: Screen Spanning Doctor... it simply opens up the functionality that is already there. However, like the author - I can't take responsibility if it messes you system up (there have been no reports of that though - only good!).

  • CANT HOOK UP TO PROJECTOR

I am having trouble hooking up to my projector. I have never had a problem before. I have the vga adapter but for some reason I am still unable to connect. Ive tried rebooting, updating, waiting till the projector was on to connect and nothing has worked. I am not sure what to do.

If you go to Apple > System Preferences > Displays click the detect displays button.
The projector should be detected as if it were a second monitor/display.
If that does not work try an SMC reset

  • Hook up a projector

How do I hook up a projector using HDMI? I tried to hook up my Optoma projector, but it doesn't recognize the Macbook

Treat the projector as a normal display.
In the system preferences, make sure that you have clicked 'detect displays'.
This should ensure the Optoma Projector recognizes it.
Try setting the projector as the primary display, and alternate.
The resolution may need to be edited on the Macbook to ensure that the projector is capable of displaying it.
I do the same with an external monitor and if the resolution is to high, the monitor cannot recognize the Macbook.
    All the best,
    Andy

  • Since I put Mountain Lion on my MacAir my PowerPoint and Keynote Presentations freeze up when I am presenting.  This is so unacceptable when I have 75 - 500 people I am presenting in front of.   I can no longer use my presenter tool either.  Is there help

Since I put Mountain Lion on my MacAir, my Power Point presentations freeze up when hooked to an LCD projector.  I can no longer use my presenter clicker tool that moves my slides as I walk among my audiences.  This is totally unacceptable in the kind of work that I do.  The Genius Bar person told me to try Keynote but that is even worse.  I wanted to go back to Snow Leopard but because I have backed up my information on an external hard drive she said I cannot go back to Snow Leopard.  Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?  I have several presentations coming up in the next six weeks.

You need to move to Windows 7, because Apple is now releasing a new OS X version annually and it's playing havoc with people's hardware and software.
Windows 7 will get support until 2020, that's 8 years of software stability, however you do need to make System Restore disks, boot disk and another on a hard drive to self restore (like TimeMachine is for OS X)
Apple has no plans to change their currrent behavior as all they care about is selling new hardware with a shiny new OS X verison on it.
If you wait to move, what will happen is you'll lose that full 8 years and will have to swtich to a newer Windows sooner
Windows 7 machines are still widely avaialble, despite Windows 8 (a failure) being pushed currently.
Running three OS X operating systems on one machine is quite a chore reserved for only seasoned computer geeks, then it's only going to last X months as the next OS X version will be released, then the next a year after that.
Another method would be to get a virtual machine software (virtualbox is free) and install Windows 7 into that to ease your transitition if you cant' spring for a Windows 7 machine, preferablly a tower that will last a long time.
Here is a method to run Snow Leopard in Parallels, however it's a unapproced hack and not for the comptuer newbie.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
We have no control over Apple's OS X release cycle, nor the third party developers who make their own decisions what to support.
Our only choice as users to stop using both products and seek software/hardware stability.

  • Can I run my iPad to a projector wirelessly with no internet?

Before I start, you need to know that I don't know what things like "WAN" and "LAN" mean, this seems to be the cause of my misunderstanding so far.  If you could help me out in common English words, that would be fantastic!
I'm a music teacher, I teach the majority of my class through my iPad Air hooked up to a projector through a lightning bolt/VGA cable and run audio down to a speaker system through a standard 1/8 headphone cable.  But I would like to do this wirelessly so I can walk around the room.
Biggest problem I have is no wireless internet at my school.  I have a plan but I don't know if it will work:
Airport Express - I can use this to create a wireless network in my classroom (a non-internet wireless network)...  Is this a LAN?
Apple TV - If my iPad and Apple TV are both connected through the Airport Express, they can play together even with the lack of an internet connection.
HDMI to VGA adapter - I use this to connect Apple TV to the projector.
From what I've seen I think I have to set up the network at home where I have internet.  I need to put the Airport Express into client mode and do something about changing an IP address.  Does this sound right?
Once it's set up, I can unplug it from my modem at home and move it to my classroom, plug it into a power strip and I'm good to connect my stuff, even without internet at school.
(How can I make sure the Apple TV connects to the Airport Express?)
I think there may be a bonus to this plan as well:  I should be able to hook a printer up to the Airport Express so I can print directly from my iPad completely bypassing the terrible printers we have on the schools network.
Can anyone tell me if this plan will actually work?  I can't afford spending the $250 for something that isn't going to work.
    Thank you!

    Is this a LAN?
LAN -- local area network.  Yes.
From what I've seen I think I have to set up the network at home where I have internet.
I'd move the hardware to your school without making any changes. The hardware will think the internet is down, but you already expect that & should not be a problem.
I should be able to hook a printer up to the Airport Express so I can print directly from my iPad completely bypassing the terrible printers we have on the schools network.
The iPad supports only AirPrinters.  You can install some more software on your ipad to print to the printer ( if the extra software supports the printer. )

  • Can I connect three projectors to my MacBook Pro? (not mirrored)

I am doing the scenery for an opera, which is supposed to be projected onto the flats using three different projectors.  What I would like to do is hook up all three projectors to my MacBook Pro, and have different parts of the scenery show up on each projector--meaning that the displays will not be mirrored.  Can this be done?

I created a similar set up using multiscreener and a few mac minis driving individual projectors and yet synced via wifi. This meant that the projectors+mac only need to be connected to power and not to each other.
    http://www.zachpoff.com/software/multiscreener/
MultiScreener is a set of free applications that synchronize the playback of Quicktime movies on multiple computers, using a local network to tie them all together. (It can also sync multiple movies on the same computer using multiple monitors.)

  • How to display desktopt in 16x9 using a projector?

I have my macbook pro hooked up to a projector via vga. The projector is setup for widescreen 16x9.. Will my macbook pro show my desktop and programs in widescreen 16x9? How do I do this?
    Thank
    RD

The MBP supports both mirrored and extended video mode. When you are in extended mode, there should be separate display pref panes for each display, where you should be able to set the res to your liking.
On my MBP 3,1, the F7 function key toggles between mirrored and extended desktop modes. Not sure if the later models have the same KB layout.
