Hook iPod to car speakers.

I've never done this before, but my friend is trying to get his iPod hooked up to his car speakers. If it helps, the car in question is a 2006 Toyota Corolla LE. There's a multi-disc CD player.
~ Thanks in advance.

get an iPod car player. They are usually a little on the pricey side...i saw one for $40.00 at Lowe's here in Texas, but what you do is hook it to your car's cigarette lighter. Once it is powered up, plug in iPod and it will transmit on a radio frequency (the better, more expensive ones transmit on several optional frequencies to prevent interference by local radio stations) Simply tune your car's radio to the frequency and it will play. Then you can blast it with speakers.

  • Device for hooking ipod to external speakers...?

I have a 40g ipod and would like to hook it up to a set of external speakers on my deck. Is there a device for hooking up the ipod to external speakers?? I know about the docking systems (i.e. Bose, etc.) and the stereo receiver hookup, but is there an individual amplifier device avaiable to just be a go-between the ipod and speakers?? I don't feel like bringing my stereo reciever outside and I want the ability to change songs....
Sorry if this is a repeat question...I did a qucik search and didn't see anything.
    - thanks REV

You need an AUX input on your stereo and a 3.5mm jack to jack cable(there cheap) heres a link for one

  • IPod Nano to Car Speakers

I have a white 2 GB iPod Nano 1st Generation and I want to be able to play my iPod through my car speakers. I already have the USB cable and the car charger, can i just plug the cable & the charger into my car and then turn off my radio and press play...or do i need to by one of those FM Radio iPod converters for a car in order for me to play my iPod in my car?

Either that or an expensive retrofit. My last car had a lousy radio so I bought a Sony that had an aux port. There are also some really expensive models that have iPod ports. Another option for some cars is an expensive device that adds an auxilliary input to your factory radio but there can be downsides. For me I have a choice of losing my XM radio or losing audible warnings. And then there's the FM transmitters. I bought a Kensington digital and am mostly happy with it. I say mostly because in some areas there is no free frequency so the iPod is unusable.

  • How do I get my ipod touch 5th generation to always use my car speakers when I plug it into the USB port?

How do I get my ipod touch 5th generation to always use my car speakers when I plug it into the USB port?

If the problem occurs after you restore it to factory defaults/new iPod then it is likely a hardware problem.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • I purchased an itrip Auto Pilot and require an app to use it according to my device I was setting up to play music in my car speakers.  I cannot find an app for this in the itunes store.  Help

I purchased an ITrip Auto Pilot and when attempting to use it to play music from my Iphone through my car speakers, I was promptedd to get an app from the itunes store to enable it to work.  I went to the itunes store and searched for an app and could not find one.  Can anyone tell me the app I need and where to get it for this itrip auto pilot made by Griffin?  It is supposedd to enable my iphone and ipod to play on my FM radio in my car.

You should go to the web site for the iTrip product and see what app it is, I'll bet there's a link there that will take you right to the app.  Don't worry, as you get more stuff it'll be easier to figure it all out, eventually it'll be plain old common sense that solves these types of issues for you

  • Listen to touch thru car speakers with 1/8" audio cable

I had a 1st gen touch that I could connect to my car with a 1/8" audio cable. It allowed me to listen to my touch through my car speakers. I got a 3rd gen 32 GB touch and it doesn't work with the same cable. When I plug it in, the sound comes out of the touch's speakers. Is there a special 1/8" audio cable that I can buy that will allow my new touch to play through my car's speakers? Thanks!

I have a similar problem - I have a Logic 3 adapter that connects to the dock adapter and a 3.5mm plug on the other end to a jack in the car. Worked like a charm with an iPod but doesn't work with the iTouch. Also noted that when attached to a Bose sound dock - no charging but the music works. There must be something different in the design. Tried Bluetooth also but not able to connect it to the audio system (Blackberry works fine).

  • Itouch not sending audio to car speakers

I recently added an AUX cable to my Alpine car stereo, but my ipod touch will not send audio to the car speakers.  When its plugged in to the cable it just plays through the built in speaker on the ipod.  The cable is the older 12v type, so I understand it will not charge the ipod, but I would expect it to send the audio signal???  I also tried a older 30Gb ipod video model and it plays just fine, so I doubt its a bad cable.  I was going to buy the 12v to 5v converter to support charging for the ipod touch, but I am not sure that will fix the audio problem...
    Any feedback would be appreciated!!!

Sometimes the manufacturer of cables are not uptodate with the many iPod models.
You have to check different supplier.
I have a Skoda Octavia with a Radio Navigation system which is the exact copy of VW or Audi.
The iPhone cable of Skoda did not worked with the iPhone 4 and I am using an Audi cable.
Nobody at Skoda/Audi have a serious explanation.

  • How to route phonecalls through the car speakers?

    Hi
Just bought iCarkit/Allkit FM transmitter/handsfree holder for Iphone.
    I have a Iphone 3GS 16 gb.
I've managed to get the ipod music thru the car speakers BUT not phonecalls.
    Could anyone please help me?
    Best regards
    Per from Norway

I played with it yesterday. The phone directs sound back out of the phone's speak when it is connected to the FM transmitter via the charging cable, but if you use the audio jack connector then voice will come out of the car stereo and the phone's microphone is sensitive enough for this to work. It is a bit of a pain though so I won't bother with this.
I didn't get any instructions with my unit I can not figure out how to set the presets. To be honest at the moment I am just using it as a holder for the phone as the beeping was driving me crazy. When the unit was plugged into my phone it seems to stop and start charging every few seconds causing it to keep going back to the battery indicator if left at the home screen - I thought this was probably not good for the phone.

  • Phoneand car speakers

i apologize if this has been asked before - i didnt find anything in the archives (but maybe i didnt do the right search)
i have a 2002 BMW and i want to play the iPhone though the car speakers - the car is wired for bluetooth but doesnt have the bluetooth kit and i dont want to spend the money on it
i tried a grifffin itrip fm adapter which supposedly lets you broadcast stuff from the pnone on an unused fm channel - but the devic is not specifically made for the iPhone - it worked ok when i was using the iPod portion of the phone but i want to be able to listen to streaming audio over the net and the when you plug the phone into the itrip it asks if you want to put the phone in airplane mode - if you say no - all you get is static - if you say yes i turns off the radios so you ant access the ntwork - which makes it impossible to listen to streaming audio ovr the internet
has anyone gotten the itrip to work with the iPhone or know of a solution that does work - the car is wired for a cd chnager in the trunk so i suspect there is ome way of getting an input to the radio/CD but i dont want to have to run wires all through the car to make it work
    thanks

thanks - thats what ill probably do but not being mechanically oriented (i do software) ill probably get my mechanic to do it - there is probably something already there perhaps in the back of the radio because its prewired for a cd changer in the trunk and that interfaces with the 6 station set buttons on the radio/cd

  • Using iPhone in car speakers and talking hands free without bluetooth ?

Just got a new car with an AUX in - works for using iPod music when on AUX mode in the car. This is no problem. But as I am looking at various options for phone functions (handsfree) in the car, just wondering : although I have used the speakerphone from time to time without other connection, can I do the following : use the AUX in the car to get the voice of the person I am talking to, and just speak freely (as I would do in speaker-phone on the iPhone) so we both can have a clear conversation ?
Which settings would I choose for that on the iPhone ? (I assume if I click speakerphone mode, this would not work with the AUX-out, or would it ?... Then what if I get a phone call (while in AUX mode in the car) while I play music in this mode (from iPhone of course) ?
In other words, can I completely avoid using any kind of external bluetooth device (from a GPS or other)??
    Thanks

Yes that works, use the speakerphone mode. Some people report that the callers hear themselves via the car speakers and iPhone mic. It won't cost anything to try it and see if it meets your requirements.

  • Iphone 5c incoming calls on bluetooth car speakers not by default

OK i have a vw jetta 2012, used to have incoming calls answered on bluetooth by default.
Nowdays, since I have iPhone 5c, incoming calls, sound on speakers, but as soon as I answered, sound goes back to phone, then I need to change to vw phone by hand to hear conversation on the car speakers. Well tha's not safe, neither hands free calls, need help

We had the problem with our new iPhone 5 using i.o.s.6.0.1.  So we updated to 6.0.2 and the problem continues. Sure worked great with the iPhone 4s though.
Makes me think we shouldn't have moved to the iPhone 5.

  • I plug my 4S into a transmitter to listen through my car speakers. The phone gets hot, is this normal?

I used a radio transmitter connected to my 4S to listen to music through my car speakers, but the phone gets hot.  Is this  normal?

Yes it is. It is usual for your phone to get hot (not to the point where it burns, but noticably warmer) whenever it's charging, playing music, or using an app that takes a lot of power (like navigation). Especially in a car, where the ambient temperature can get pretty hot.
As long as it doesn't hurt to hold your phone or the phone doesn't give you a temperature warning then it's normal.
