Hook mac book to TV

Does anyone know how or what products to hook up a 2007 white macbook up to my TV, I have a Samsung flat screen. I am just not sure the proper cables to purchase. Thanks!

Depends on what input plug you'll be using on your TV. VGA, DVI, Composite or HDMI. You'll need a Mini-DVI adapter and a cable from that to your TV. Here's the various types of Mini-DVI adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13
(Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.)
You'll also need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate audio input plugs on your TV.
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. Check your TV manual though to see if it might have audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports.

  • Hi,  im trying to hook up my mac book 7,1 to an older tv with red white n yellow cables.  is this possible.  if so what would i need to buy?

HI again.  im trying to hook my mac book up to my tv.  its an older tv that has hook up for yellow red n white cables.  if this is possible please tell me what i need to do so.  thank you

If you want to use the Composite input on your TV there’s no Mini DisplayPort to Composite. The only adapters with Composite are the older Mini-DVI adapters. (Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.).
You’ll could try a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_19?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field -keywords=mini+displayport+to+vga&sprefix=mini+Displayport+to
And then a VGA Adapter to TV S-Video RCA Out Cable for PC Video. http://www.amazon.com/VGA-Adapter-S-Video-Cable-Video/dp/B000Y7T5UU/ref=sr_1_7?s =electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316369974&sr=1-7
I don't know if that would work but it's the only way I would know.

  • Hooking old PC printer to new Mac Book Pro

I just got a new Mac Book Pro for college and my dad's work partner gave him a printer he got for free through Ford motor Co. a few years ago. Is there a way I can hook the old printer from "Hewlett Packard" to my new laptop?

Hi, Grace. If the printer can only be connected via a parallel printer cable that has huge 25-pin connectors on both ends, you can't use it. If it has a USB port and cable, you can physically connect it, and then you'll need to find and install the appropriate software driver for it, if one exists for the Mac.
What is HP's model number for the printer?

  • Hooking up mac book pro to samsung tV

I  am trying tohook up a Mac book Pro purchased in Sept to a Smssung LCD TV purchased in Sept. I fet the computer display onthe TV but no sound. I have no soundcables but appatently the newer Prod do not need them? The one lead goes from the Mac to the HDMI 1.

These computers supply multichannel audio (up to 8 channels) and video signals over Mini DisplayPort:
    MacBook (Mid 2010) and later
MacBook Air (Late 2010) and later
MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) and later
Mac mini (Mid 2010) and later
    iMac (Late 2009) and later
    Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
Check the System Prefrences > Sound and determine what is being used as the output.

  • I now have a macbook pro and my iPod was originally sync to a pc that isn't in use any more, how do i set my mac book as the "home computer" for my iPod 4?

i dont want to lose all my apps and songs
i just want to make my mac book as the home computer so i can update my ipod

The only other thing I can think of is to pull the drive out and hook it to another machine with a USB enclosure. Something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-NexStar-2-5-Inch-External-Enclosure/dp/B002JQNXZC/r ef=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388312417&sr=8-2&keywords=2.5+enclosure
Then you could read it like an external USB drive. It's easy to open up and get the drive out.

  • Basics on transferring all my files from imac 10.5.8 to mac book pro 10.6

    Hello,
I recently bought a mac book pro and when I was at the apple store the explanations they gave me to transfer all my files, contacts, calendars, photos, .png files, seemed so simple - hook up the ethernet cable and I would be walked through it but NOTHING HAPPENED. I apologize if you have given these basic instructions over and over, but I have been searching for hours and cannot find anything giving me the basic step by step instructions to do this.
I'm confused, too, on if while I'm working on files in one computer if I can transfer to the next and continue the work. I thought this was going to be very easy, but I feel as if I'm in way over my head. Please help!!

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
There are several ways to do this, but you may have bypassed the easiest one: when you first booted up your shiny new Mac, +Setup Assistant+ should have asked if you already had a Mac, and given you the opportunity to transfer your data either directly from it, or from it's Time Machine backups.
See #19 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum, for details and a link to a video demo.
Once you've gone past the "Do you already own a Mac" screen, though, you can't easily start over.
But if you want to, and haven't added new data you need to keep, use the *Erase, Install, & Migrate* section of the Glenn Carter - Restoring Your Entire System / Time Machine *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
Where it says to select your Time Machine backups, connect the old Mac and select that option instead. The rest of the procedure is exactly the same.

  • Printing from a Mac Book Pro to a Windows 7 64 Bit Box

Before I upgraded to Win 7 I have no problem printing from my MBP (snow leopard) to my Canon IP4300 hooked up to my Vista Ultimate Box. Once I upgraded it to Win 7, I can no longer print. We have 2 Mac Book Pro's and this error can be duplicated on both.
When I set up the printer everything appears to work fine. My MBP see's the Windows computer, see's the printer, and add it's after asking me for my username and password to access the Windows PC.
However, when I try to print I get this error:NTSTATUS_INVALIDPARAMETER and the job says it is waiting for authorization. So I enter the username and P/W again and same thing happens again.
I am going to assume that this is a Windows issue but does anyone have a work around or a setting that works?
Has anyone else seen this error?
    Thanks in advance

I am going to assume that this is a Windows issue but does anyone have a work around or a setting that works?
Had to laugh about this. Of course it's a Windows issue (this time...). You didn't change your Mac's, you've installed a new OS that is only a week or so old, that probably won't get updated for a year (based on past performance from Microsoft). Could have just as easily been the other way if you had installed Windows 7 first and then MacOS
Meanwhile, Windows 7 has new features that you might need to turn off. I've read that the "Home Group" feature interferes with File and Printer sharing to non Windows 7 computers. I'm not an expert with Win7 yet, so I'm guessing...
I got sick of this years ago and just make sure that all of my printers have an ethernet port. Every OS I can run can print to an IP number. SL changed it's printer system, Vista changed it's printer system, Win7 changed it's network share system. None of this matters at all with a network printer.
Are all of the machines on the same workgroup? Here's an earlier post with similar issues and errors: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1217688&start=15&tstart=0
    Good luck with the problem.

    Hello,
I am trying to connect my laptop to my TV. The computer flashes blue after I plug the cable in but the TV says there is no signal.
    I have a Mac Book Pro 2009 and a Samsung 32" Class (31.5" Diag.) 450 Series 720p LCD HDTV (2010 model).
I am using a mini display port to VGA adapter. I have sucessfully hooked up boh devices but it stopped working after a handful of times. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix the problem or is my cable broken?

    Some things you can try.

  • How to connect my electric piano to my mac book pro

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what I would need in order to connect my electric piano to my mac book pro?
I would like to record stuff in Garage band using my electric piano.
I have no idea what cables or equipment I would need, so any help would be much appreciated.
The piano I've got is a KORG EC120 and it has MIDI IN/OUT and a couple of LINE INPUTS (Though I am not familiar what to do with them! )
    http://www.harmonycentral.com/t5/News/Korg-Introduces-EC-120-Concert-Piano/ba-p/ 34631250
The mac book I like to hook it up to is a 13" Mac Book Pro (early 2011).
    Thanks!

There are many ways to do this but do yourself a favor and pick up a usb audio/midi interface. This will let you get either the keyboard voices or  Midi input (computer Midi voices) into garageband along with microphone or other instruments if you want in the future.
You will also need a cable to connect the keyboard to the interface.

  • Hi all - troubles sons mac book pro (bought Dec 2011). When he turn it on - get folder with ?  I assume can't find start-up items. trouble is - he can't get disk to go in

    HI all
Pardon me for the stupid title - -been some time since on the forum
    This is much better.
So the situation on son's Mac Book Pro.
It seems a few days ago the computer would not take a CD - -not  huge deal
    Then suddenly he had trouble.
Turned on computer and get the folder with the ?     I am pretty certain this means it
    can't find the start-up items.
I guess he tried to do some "diagnostics on the internet - it was a Hardware diag.
and said everything was OK but couldn't find a HD
So he bought a new HD and we just installed it. Start tje computer and the same question in folder.
He bought the HD from apple so not an aftermarket.
I guess he is not sure where is start-up disks our (kids)   but what can we do now?
He is at our house now and can't seem to connect to the internet becuase he can't see my network
    which is wireless.
Is there something we can try - -should we re-install the old HD - -the new one may not be formatted
not sure all we know is it was from Apple direct.
He just told me the OLD hard drive could be read by a device at school.  So it seems perhpas the HD MAY? be
OK  but there is some sort of communication thing going on.
In the old dayson my G-3 slot  - -we would start up with a network
Not sure how do do any of that on this book
PLease help - - very important (he is a grad student and needs the computer that is why he paid for
    on day shipping
What do we do?  Any tips tricks?\  please offer any ideas - -dad is stuck - -Thanks
    Jim

    Hello Grant - -Thanks - -
I notice you are west of Boston - -we in Medford and son goes to Tufts in town
    (small world)
Not really certain what you are telling us  - - I am not good at computers
A couple of other things that may be tips - -
1 - on wednesday of this week
our son noticed the fan was going on almost continuosly,
After that trouble started - -
    2. - When we put the new HD in - -same things happened,
which is ? mark in folder (start-up items)
    3. - His computer will not see my wireless even if I put it next to my I-mac
It sees several networks but not mine - -and if we type in my netwokr
info - -it will not take.   He wanted to try a network start-up .
I forget how that is done.
4, - The bottom of the computer is getting hot - -much hotter than i think it should.
any ideas why his computer won't see my router?
I think he may just have to take it to Apple Store on Newbury Street.
Would they be able to get his info off the old HD assuming it is still good and
transfer to the new HD fairly easy.
LAstly - - I am pretty certain I have the str-up disks for my I-mac which is running
    10.5.8.
Would I be able to do anything with my computer and hook into his computer
into mine like an external device or something like that
I really appreciate your thoughts and efforts on this  and must admit I have no
external enclosrure?  but I have an external HD on my I-mac
As you can tell - -I am not to good at this

  • TS3694 Just took my 1st gen iPod out of it's original box, never used before.  Plugged it into my new Mac book Pro and it recognizes that the iPod is in recovery mode but when I click to restore, error 1611 comes up - but that error code doesn't say what

I had an 8GB 1st gen iPod in it's original box in storage and just took it out to hook it up.  Charged it overnight, plugged it into new Mac Book Pro and it was recognized as being an iPod in recovery but other identifying information was all indicated as "n/a" (so, unknown OS, etc).  Error code 1604 came up so I downloaded iTunes on the Mac Book and it is currently showing version 10.  But now when I try to restore the iPod, error code 1611 comes up and the troubleshooting doesn't tell me what else to try.  The USB connector that came with the iPod was also never used before - brand new also from the box so that should be fine.  I also tried a different USB port on the Mac Book.  Any ideas?

    Error 1611
This error typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, this error may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • Can you connect the TC directly to a Mac Book Pro thru either USB or Ethernet?

Can you hook a Time Capsule directly to a Mac Book Pro thru USB Port or Ethernet or?
So that you can speed up the transfer time??
It's so slow compared to directly connected FW800 and Thunderbolt Drives...
    It's painful...
    Thanks

Ethernet, yes. Connect the Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule. This should be 4-5 times faster than wireless. Be sure to turn off wireless on the Mac.
    USB,no.
