I have a hpzv5000 can I change the pic quality to VESA 1366X768 @60 HZ? I WANT TO CONNECT TO A VIZIO 32 HDTV VIA RGB

I've been doing some reading and this is about the only Apple certified document on what cards work in my early model Mac Pro.

I'm not sure Apple is going to write drivers for a Windows Operating System, so we may have to rely on the generic drivers.

What operating system?
Does the monitor say anything on the screen when it's connected to the computer and you turn it? (e.g. signal out of range, no input, etc)

What do I need to hook up an external DVI monitor to Thunderbolt?

I want to hook up an external DVI monitor to my new iMac.

You are quite correct. That's the device you need. Take a look at your plug and the plug in Amazon's picture for a final check. If that looks good, click "buy"!
ThunderBolt supports "mini display port".
Since adapters have been around for a while, they typically don't say anything about ThunderBolt - it's too new. They talk about "mini display port" only.

YYou can connect with the cables listed above or with an Apple TV device. Keep in mind that and ipad is what it is and was made to be used as it is. I can tell you first hand that what you are trying to do will likely not be of assistance since the ipad is still required as the user interface. Connecting to a larger display maybe fine for watching movies if that's what you have in mind but for overall use the ipad will still have to be used and thus looked at to type and touch. Even with a bt keyboard there are still to many limitations That only a mouse can solve along with a keyboard and display.
All said, you may be better off looking into, and perhaps using along with the bigger screen, some of the features that can be found in (general-text size) and (general accessibility) settings. Other then that, if you are not mindset on the ipad experience, there are other products on the market that are better suited and more affordable. I have provided care for my mother in law from here 80's to mid 90's. Been there, done that.

I think that was a slip of the tongue since the iBook does not have a mini-DVI output.
The corresponding mini-VGA adapter, which will work, is the Apple Video Adapter (M9109G/A).

Shockwave Flash crashes when hooked up to an external monitor

Hi,
I believe I have finally pinpointed a problem with my Adobe Schockwave Flash plug-in. When I am hooked up to my external monitor and use my flash player, I receive a message saying:
"The following plug-in has crashed: Adobe Shockwave Flash"
I have no idea why this is; I have thoroughly searched for a solution to no avail.
My computer:
Alienware M11x R3
Windows 7 Standard 64-bit
Flash Version: WIN 11,0,1,152
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
Google Chrome 14.0.835.202m
My Monitor:
Alienware 2210
--The driver software for this is up to date.
The stranger thing is, it only crashes on Google Chrome. It doesn't crash on Internet Explorer, I do not know what kind of an issue. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I can give any additional information if needed.

What connects do I need to hook up a 2nd LCD monitor to my p7-1380t HP computer?

My current monitor is a Samsung Starlight LCD monitor hooked up to my p7--1380t (approx 23 inches). I want to set up a 2nd monitor which is a DELL LCD (unable to find monitor model #).

We don't have information on Dell monitors. However, I believe that it will be either VGA or DVI (D or I). It depends on the age of the monitor.

Connecting a 15.4" MacBook Pro to a Vizio HDTV monitor - which adapter?

Hi, I have one of the new MacBook Pro models, 15.4", 2.4 GHz, 4 GB Ram, 250 GB hard drive, and an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT with 256 MB VRAM.
I have just purchased a 32" Full HD 1080P HDTV/monitor from Vizio (the product's URL is http://www.vizio.com/product.aspx?id=2710&pid=1506) and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best type of adapter I'd need from Apple to connect this to my MacBook Pro?

Suggest that you do a forum search. There are several postings listing items that you need to connect your MBP to a TV. Also, check the manual that came w/your MBP.

Hooking Up An external 15" Monitor To iBookG4

Folks, I would like to find out anyone's experience who has hooked up an external monitor, 3rd party like NEC, LG, Sony, etc, mainly an LCD and how it worked out. I am thinking of a 17". Will I get a better display from the VRAM in the iBook? The iBook display is not enough quality to do higher end photography and retouching. Will the external just look like what comes through the iBook or will there be significant improvement in color, resolution, etc. Please let us know your opinions and experience. This is a limiting 'feature' of iBooks. In order to define between the standard and pro notebooks (powerbooks), the ibooks were limited in software to only be able to mirror the display of the notebook. This means a maximim resolution of 1024 x 768 and no extension of the desktop.

i can run my 24" dell screen at it's native res through the VGA port.

I dropped my computer and the screen cracked and now I can't see anything. I am using an adapter to hook it up to a monitor to see if the computer still works. All I see is the welcome screen without the login window. How do I bring that up to log in????

I assume this is due to the fact that system detects your internal monitor as default one, and that is there where system sends main data. In order to force system send data to the external monitor, get a mouse and physical keyboard, close MB lid, and then press any key on the external keyboard.
when you get there, go to system preferences/display, and manually move the Apple upper bar to the external monitor, then choose mirror; ultimately, set optimal resolution.

Hook IMac pro to second monitor, Dell U2410. Need help on setting from the laptop.

What setting are needed to set up external monitor Dell U2410 monitor. I am make progress but still need to need the setting internal to the Imac Pro.
I am transmitting to the monitor. The screen saver is there. Hit F3 key causes anknowledgement. but open web pages they do not transfer.
I have used the system preferance which acknowledges the presence of the monitor.

The external hard drive should mount on your old iMac through USB. USB2 is backwards-compatible, only consequence is that you'll have to be patient with the long wait for your files to copy over the slower USB1 or 1.1.
Another alternative is to directly connect the two Macs via the ethernet cable. Instructions are here:

Can I use the HD4000 when I hook up to an additional Monitor using MiniDP?

Is it possible to use HD4000 for my external display? Because t430's ventilation is just sooooooo noisy when the NVS card is on, and the left palm rest is just scorching. I heard about that the Mini Display port is only connected to the NVS card and not the Intel one, is that true?

I have a macbook and it is a dual boot system, I would like to be able to see the mac side of the system on a larger monitor. I can hook to a hdmi cable and see the pc side, but not the mac side, any suggestions?

I have a macbook that I bought second hand. The mac has a dual boot system with bootcamp on one side and snow leopard on the other. I would like to be able to hook to a larger hdmi monitor so that in both systems I could see better since on the leopard side the computer has PS4. I have purchased the dvi to HDMI accessory and purchased the HDMI to DVI cable, and can see fine on the bootcamp side, but nothing on the leopard side. Could somebody help me with configuring things so that it will see both side?
Also on a minor note, I need to purchase a new battery for this item and don't know which one to purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially with the display/monitor issue.

When you try to use the Mac side on your external monitor do you get a blank screen or do you see the aurora background?
It would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.

10.6.8 update: screen brightness issues when hooked to external monitor

I just upgraded to MacOS 10.6.8 yesterday, and since then, the screen on my Macbook is acting strange.
I'm hooked up to an external monitor which I use almost all the time as the primary monitor. Usually, when I'm using the external, I turn the brightness all the way down (to black) on the Macbook. After the update, however, the Macbook seems to have a mind of its own. The screen gets brighter, then dimmer, then brighter again, without reason. Or, othertimes, after about 30 seconds of inactivity, the Macbook screen gets brighter, then when you move the mouse, it goes back to black again.
It's not that I care so much, but just wish I knew what was going on. Glitch in the new software?

Same problem here with a MacBook Pro. I have the notebook connected to a Cinema Display and thus manually dimmed down completely my MacBook Screen. Now after updating to 10.6.8 my MacBook screen dimms up at the time when it would normally dimm it down if the screen was "enabled".
I tried several steps to fix that:
- Dis- and reconnected my external Cinema Display.
- Changed display and energy safer settings in system preferences.
- Fixed file permissions.
- Did a PRAM-reset.
Nothing helped.
Please help us!
