Hooking into house sound / PC Juke
With some of the 5.1 sound cards and above. I am running into an issue of hooking them into a house sound system. I use a 3.5mm "Y" splitter off the front left and right on the sound card. one end goes to the local 5.1 system via a 3.5 mm 3 pin cord. the other side I use a 3.5mm cord to RCA and hook into the house amp.
now here is the problem... for some reason the 5.1 gets turned off and all I get at the coputer for sound is the front left and right audio. no center or rears. even though everything elts is hooked up the same way it was before
can anyone help?

I am using German OS therefore maybe the items are called differently in English:
1) Go into the main menu
2) Select "Alerts"
3) select the Profile you like to adjust
4) Select App Alerts
5) Select Email
6) You sould see your 3 mail accounts listed
7) Select the one you like to "mute" and you can set everything (sound, LED, vibration etc. individually for this acount)

The printer is hooked into the Mac via USB; the Mac is networked to a Linksys wireless router with an ethernet cable, as is the Windows box. I installed the current Bonjour printer services software on the Windows machine, and separately installed the driver software for the Epson printer on the WIndows machine. Running the bonjour wizard, I get an alert saying 'I don't have sufficient access to my computer to connect to the selected printer'.
The printer has 'sharing' turned on from the Mac end; this works with a Powerbook via the wireless connection. Sharing is also turned on in the Windows printer control panel for this printer (under properties). The Mac is a G5 running 10.5.8. When I try to print a page from the Windows machine it gets hung in the print queue.
Any advice how to proceed would be appreciated!

How do I know when a file loaded into a Sound object is invalid?
I'm writing an app that allows the user to play various sound files.
Some of these files are mp3, but some may also be ogg, wma, etc. The selection is out of my control, so I need the sound API to tell me if it can't play something.
To test, I loaded some test files into a sound object like so:

Even though Flex doesn't play wma's there is no error information or null objects anywhere. Everthings seems to be fine to flex, I can even register for progress events and see the wma being loaded.
Just to see how far this goes, I loaded a gif instead of an audio file and the same thing happened. Progress went fine with no errors of any kind even though I registered for every listed event. As expected though, no sound played from the gif file.
What is the recommended way for checking if a file is not playable?I'm looking more for an "is it playable" value (since it might be an FLA or FLV as well).
Even a meaningful length value would work (for some reason duration is set to a value even when loading a gif file - not sure what it means for a GIF to have a length of 96 milliseconds).
For now I'll have to filter on extension as you mentioned. -
Is there any way to hook into the SQL report pagination process?
I have a SQL report (based on EMP) with a radiogroup row selector.
The scenario 1 and 2 are in place
1) When the employee row radio group is clicked the P900007_JOB the text item is populated with the JOB for the employee.
2) When the page is initially displayed or submitted via the button the first row’s radio group is programmatically clicked and therefore populates the additional job information in P900007_JOB

Once the report has been displayed and the next or previous pagination is used then none of the radio groups will be selected and the data in the P900007_JOB text item will still display the job of the last selected employee row.
What I require is on pagination some sort of mechanism to either
a) Call the page_init() that should then set the first row as selected and populate the text item via the programmatic click. (preferred option)
b) OR blank out the additional text item P900007_JOB.
Is there any way to hook into the pagination process?
I have a work around – Set the ‘Enable Partial Page Refresh’ to ‘No’ but this means a full refresh every time the pagination is used.

Connect Macbook PRO house sound system via IPOD adaptor
I want to connect my Macbook PRO via USB to IPod dock adaptor on whole house sound system w/IPOD adaptor. Any suggestions for adaptors with USB to IPOD-like port? In other words one end of the cable needs USB (for Mac) and the other needs to look the internal mating part of the IPOD.

Your primary problem is not finding a cable, but finding a hardware or software device that will make the MPB behave like an iPod, which is quite a different kettle of fish.

Is there any way to hook into the TextModel from ICompositionStyle?
When creating a new custom attribute in IAttrReport there is the ability to hook into the ICompositionStyle interface. But I don't see any way from there to see which TextIndex it is composing. Does anyone know if it's possible?

Outlook Add In - Hook into delete event without having to open the email.
Is it possible to hook into the BeforeDelete command without having to open the email to fire the event. At present my code will hit the BeforeDelete event when the email is open and delete is selected, but it does not fire if deleting without opening

Mixing sound files into one sound file. Urgent

I want to mix different sound files into one sound file but I don't have any idea of how to do this. Can anybody tell me how or just point me to the right tutorial. I do not want to do this through an applet.

have an iphod touch in recovery mode and hooked into the computer to restore it, because the kids forgot password and locked it up.now say software server cannot be contacted what do i do now?

How can I hook into the Refresh Button on an embeded report.
In my app i'm using ReportViewer and reports created aggainst TTX files, the data is passed to a the viewer at runtime, Currently if the user clicks the refresh button it has no affect, i'd like to handle re-fetching the data in some situations allowing the user to initiate this with the refresh button, this seems the most intuitive method, how should i be doing this, can seem to find a way.

I purchased and downloaded two ring tones from an outside source (not through the App Store). How do I get these loaded into the Sounds on my Settings so I can use them?
Some apps that you download on your iPhone may possibly be to new for the iPod touch 2nd gen. I have a iPhone 5 and a iPod touch 2nd generation myself. If you plug his ipod into iTunes and restore it from a backup of your iPhone than it will download the paid apps and music that are compatible with his ipod. Hope this helps.

I can't hook into the Internet
Why can't I hook into the Internet with my iPad mini? I selected it, put in the password, but it says "connection not available." my other devices are hooked into that Internet.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
