Hooking iPad to HDMI TV, no video, just audio. Any tips?

Original iPad. Keynote presentations show up. Just no video.
TIA

Dave, I looked up the official specs for the cable and says it is supposed to work with original iPad. I could not get this cable to work at all after trying for hours before returning it. My iPad couldn't output anything from the Digital video cable. No video or audio. Had it hooked up to a Toshiba HDTV via HDMI. No joy. I wonder if Netflix app outputs to the HDMI because I got signal from both component cable, although it was pretty badly chopped up and get perfect signal from the VGA cable. The Apple video app wasn't working either with the digital video cable. Maybe bad day a far as perhaps I got two bad cables in a row? I don't know. Just know these did not work for me and assumed would not work for any original iPad user.

  • How do I use just the audio from a clip in imovie? No picture, no video, just audio!

I want to put the audio from a clip at the end of the video. No video, just black screen

It will require a bit of a workaround. But it can be done. If you enable Advanced Tools under the iMovie Preferences (Go to the iMovie Menu > Preferences). Enable Advanced Tools by clicking the checkbox.
Now create  a title with a black background by dragging at title to the end of the video on the Project timeline. Once the title is there, delete all the text on the title. Now drag that black background directly dead center onto the video clip just before the end where you want to 'blot out' the video and just have audio. When you release the mouse, you will be shown a pop-up menu with a bunch of different options including one titled cut-away. Choose this option. What will happen is the video will cut to the black video background you dragged on top of the video clip. You can set the duration by dragging the left and right edges out further to make it run longer. This black back ground effectively cover the video and will continue to play the audio of the underlying video clip.

I have an ipad and when I watch a video the audio does not match up with the video, how can I fix this?

    Hello there, graciecloyd.
The following Knowledge Base article offers a few steps to try when an application is not functioning as expected:
    iOS: Understanding multitasking
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4211
If an app doesn't respond to your input, or doesn't perform as expected, do the following, testing after each step:
    Check for app updates.
    Force the app to close.
    Restart your device.
    Update your iOS device.
    Learn more about troubleshooting apps.
On Step 2, close all applicaitons that are open. On Step 3, if the restart doesn't help resolve the issue, you may also want to try the Reset step in that article as well.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • I have an iPod Touch with 5.0.1 and iTunes with 10.5.1.42, and the problem is the syncing process. One of my videos won't get synced not matter how much I try. Other videos works. Any tips?

My iPod is the 3rd generation and it is running 5.0.1, and the iTunes I use is 10.5.1.42 for Windows. When I started syncing my iPod to include one video, iTunes will work fine, but when it is finished, I checked the videos on my iPod and found out there wasn't. I went to the iPod section, and under the movie subsection, I even clicked the video I want to be synced, and clicked on APPLY, then sync. When I tried doing it over the air, or usb, it just won't work. The diagnostic for iTunes says it was all right, nothing wrong is going on. I rebooted iTunes and my iPod several times, nothing! Any tips!???

    Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Airplay no longer plays video just audio on most apps

    Hello all,
I have a 3rd gen ipad and a 3rd gen aptv. I have had them both for about 2 months and have enjoyed streaming the nbc, abc, safari and netflix apps to the aptv from the ipad using airplay(not mirror mode). Yesterday i was gettingd ready to do the same and the video would not show up just the audio on the aptv. The video was playing fine on the ipad. I was able to get it to work in mirror mode but i hate using that mode as it worked full screen before and nothing has changed. No app updates, no ipad updates and not aptv updates. I have already contacted apple support and they had me do a bunch of troubleshooting steps and to no avail. I have checked my router and restarted it, restored both the aptv and the ipad and nothing is working. Anyone ever had this problem or do I have a defective product along the line? Any help would be great. Thanks

As Airplay works with your local network and there haven't been any recent updates that could affect Airplay, reports of others having similar issues are likely coincidental. In addition to your Apple TV try restarting the iPad and your router.

  • No video just audio when I use Netflicks

Anyone know what I am missing on my iPad 1 ? iPhoto images show up just fine

Websites and third party Apps need enabling before they will allow AirPlay of Video content. Some Website/App developers have not enabled their products, some simply haven't got around to it yet, others have stated that they won't be enabling AirPlay (likely as a result of licensing issues).
It might be the case that NetFlix have not enabled AirPlay video, but I wouldn't know for sure.
Why don't you just use the NetFlix app on the Apple TV.

  • No Video just Audio Monitor Green

When i Play Video from iTunes Store there is a Green/Pink Monitor Audio is perfekt

Welcome to the world of imovie8. My sincere reco is to open your imovie 8 folder, In there is imovie7. Open and use that and all should be fine. Then wait for imovie 9 to come out. if you read through the comments, there are sooooooo many people, including me, that have had the same problem (and more) with imovie 8. Just forget about it if you can--you should be able to open your movie file with imovie 7...then work from there. let me know if this works for you

  • No Video, Just Audio in Elements 9

All has been fine with my Elements 9, until recently when all the images of my imported clips were been replaced by the dreaded red "Media Offline" screen.  After trying to build a new project to see if the problem persists, it did.  Only instead of getting the red screen, the audio will import but the video will not come over with it.  In the clip preview screen, I even see the audio graphing lines, but no images.
Here are my specifics:  Toshiba Satellite P500 Laptop, Win. 7 64-bit, CPUs: Intel(R) Core (TM) 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53Ghz, 4.00GB RAM, (2 Hitachi internal hard drives: C & E), Nvidia GeForce G210M Graphics.  I've updated the Nvidia driver to 296.10, and am current on all Windows updates, as well as updated Quick Time
    C drive: 3.59GB free of 285GB
    E drive: 110 GB free of 298GB
    Other info:
    1) I built the original projects on C drive, but moved them to E with seemingly no problem (however I'm curious about this "mapping" topic that I've noticed in reading other answers.  I don't know about that and whether or not C and E are properly connected.)  But as I said, for a few weeks, all work in E seemed fine.  Plus, I've tried pulling media from both C as well as E and still only get audio.
    2) there is no camera involved, just trying to "Get Media" (which in this case is AVI movie clips) from hard drives files.
    3) the only changes I can think of that have been made in the time between things working and not was installation of Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning software
You won't offend me if you copy and paste an answer, or give me a link to a previous similar question, as I'm sure I'm not the first who's experienced this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm - this reminded me it had been a while since I last did it. I try and keep my PC well maintained but thought others might like to see the kind of wow factor possible. The majority of these savings come from removing all but the last restore point and file shadow copies. That is why E: drive savings are low - as I install applications onto that drive so it doesn't really change very much.

  • Just downloaded Flip Player for Mac and there's no video, just audio. What can I do to make it work. Thanks

What can I do to be able watch video on the Air Mac.  Just downloaded the Flip Player and has the audio, but no video.
    Thank you

The most common cause of missing video on playback with the Flip Player is that you are using an unsupported codec.
This issue is not directly related to Apple networking. You may find that you can get a better response if you visit the Telestream Flip4Mac support site.

  • IMOVIE Trying to import to Youtube, but leaves no video, just audio

I currently used Snapxpro to take video clips from a video game to make a music video on my accomplishments. But everytime i load onto Youtube, or Quicktime (Don't have pro) i get a black screen wiht just music. Has anyone got around this problem? Or am i going to be left Frustrated till i buy Quicktime Pro? Am i doing something wrong? Also find when i scroll over on the prieview when i place my clips, the video is black on the other screen, but still audio flow. Please help.

welcome Kitsindorei to the  boards ...
we noticed here at the board a flaw, ... bug within iM08: it looks like, that some codecs (that is the 'format' withIN a quicktime.mov) create a stunning effect:
you can import, preview gets rendered, projects is editable, .. but on export you just see black, no video.
well documented is that with the 'Animation' codec, LiveType and some 3D-apps generate for .mov files...
I don't know, which code is in use of your app ... in Finder, single click on a file, hit both keys simultanously 'Apple-I' and look in the info-window, what codec is shown.. telling us helps others...
if Snapxpro offers an option for export-codecs, select 'dv stream' or 'h264' as format... give that a try...
to 'convert' existing files, QTpro would be my first choice, but goo' ol'
    *Mpeg Streamclip*
    www.squared5.com
.. does the same for free ..

  • My video clips no longer show the video, just audio.

I have a video with stills and video.  After a few changes (I know I changed the duration length of the stills and I was also trying to make sure that everything fit to the frame instead of being cropped) now the movie plays the audio portion of the clip but instead of playing the video it shows nearby still or a frame from a later video.  Help!  I don't want to have to start all over again!

You can check these prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page and make sure that they have the default value true.

You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • Streaming, no video just audio

When i try to watch clips online it does not seem to play correctly, it does not display any video content yet it plays sound? Any idea's? Thanks

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5)
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
    Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • Need Help! No Video Just Audio With .AVI Files

i got quicktime for my iPod, just only for that cause i think that quicktime really *****... i searched this whole site for an answer. i found something i thought would solve my problems with .avi files but my .avi files are mpeg-4 layered, and there's only a descent answer for indeo files? or something like that. i really need help cause i want to convert an ordinary .avi file to iPod extension... please please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no single codec for movies that have .avi extensions. AVI is a container format, not a specific type of file. An AVI movie may use one of the Indeo codecs or one of the various flavors of DivX, among other possibilities. You'll have to find out what codec was used for the movies you want to view to determine what you need. Note that not all codecs for the various .avi movies are available for QuickTime.
If you want to try "hit and miss", you can try the codecs at http://www.divx.com/ and http://www.3ivx.com/ and see if one of them will work for you
