Hooking IPOD to Creative Labs external speakers

I just purchased a set of speakers and subwoofer, Creative Labs, to hook my IPOD up to; everything seems be hooked up correctly, but no sound comes out of the speakers. The Creative Labs people said they couldn't help me, that I had to contact IPOD support, which of course, is impossible. Is there some trick to this? Is there a different cable that goes from the IPOD to the input jack of the speakers? Or what the heck could be wrong??
Please help - these speakers are for a party Saturday, 8/26!!!!!

I called Circuit City, where I purchased the speakers at, some nice person there told me I had to have the volume of my IPOD turned all the way up in order for it to work. Which I then did, and it deed indeed work wonderfully. Shame on the idiots at Creative Labs who couldn't share that bit of information, and shame on Apple for not having a phone number of anyone to contact, or at least one that isn't hidden in layers.

  • What is the best way to hook up my Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 sound system to my new iMac?

We recently purchased a 27" iMac and want to use our Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 sound system with it.  How do we make this connection to get the most out of the sound system?

If I am not mistaken, your 5.1 came with 3 plugs that are meant to go into a regular PC. If that's the case, you should have received a Y like cable, that connects any none channeled sound source, like an iMac, and helps distribute it as 5.1. But they also make a curious USB device to help connect it.

An outboard audio device, if you really want to get the max out of your 5.1.
Unfortunately that is a Windows only device:
    System Requirements
    Minimum System Requirements
Microsoft ® Windows ® 7, Windows Vista ®, Windows XP (Professional x64 Edition, Service Pack 2 or above)
    So it won't work.

  • Set picture size & use external speakers 42TL515U

I can change the picture size but it does not hold. I want to set the size and have it remain that size. When I change channels and return it goes back to 4.3. It is a non HDTV channel.
Can I hook up a pair of external speakers powered by the TV? I have an Onkyo receiver but I want to power two of those speakers by the TV when I'm not using the receiver. I don't know if both can be connected or how to set that up. The receiver will be off but both connected may be an issue. The TV speakers are a bit weak.
    Thanks

Thanks, it appears the auto aspect needs to be left on for 16:9 and the 4:3 stretch needs to be turned on as well for standard def stations. It might solve my problem if the 4:3 stretch is a good viewing mode. Theater 1 is what I prefer, is a way to retain that setting?
To bad about not powering external speakers, the std speakers really lack.

  • Device for hooking ipod to external speakers...?

I have a 40g ipod and would like to hook it up to a set of external speakers on my deck. Is there a device for hooking up the ipod to external speakers?? I know about the docking systems (i.e. Bose, etc.) and the stereo receiver hookup, but is there an individual amplifier device avaiable to just be a go-between the ipod and speakers?? I don't feel like bringing my stereo reciever outside and I want the ability to change songs....
Sorry if this is a repeat question...I did a qucik search and didn't see anything.
    - thanks REV

You need an AUX input on your stereo and a 3.5mm jack to jack cable(there cheap) heres a link for one

My iPod Touch will not play through external speakers when it is docked.  It only plays through it's internal speaker.  All the other functions on the iPod can be controlled by the external speakers (volume, track, etc).  How do I fix this?

    I would try in oreder:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Can I connect my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to external speakers

Can I connect my 3rd generation IPod shuffle to external speakers? When I plug it into an external speaker, it stops playing and I don't hear any music. The controls eg. Volume, play etc is on the earplug cord. Thanks

Not for more than 10% off the price of a new one. You're better off selling it to a third-party.

  • What speakers work with the Creative Labs DDTS-100 Digital Decoder-Upto 7.1

what speakers do the Creative Labs DDTS-100 Digital Decoder-Upto 7.1 work with thanks

Unless the Digital 5500 speaker set has analog inputs it can't be used with the DDTS-100. You must connect the DDTS-100 to a speaker system through the analog outputs either from the main unit or the switchbox. I have not heard of any cables to convert analog audio into digital form so digital speakers can understand and play it.
The best speaker system? I have absolutely no idea dude. You must be the judge of that, if it is you who are going to listen to it. I like my S750 system but that is me. You have to read loads of info and reviews and preferably listen to them in a store if you can.

  • How to use iPod Shuffle with external Speakers

  • Is iPod shuffle is compatible with small or table speakers or external speakers?

Is iPod shuffle is compatible with external speakers?

Yes, you can connect POWERED external speakers like you connect your headphones.  The speaker system does need to be self-powered (has its own power supply), like the type made for connecting to your computer's audio output.  And not the type of speakers that connect to a living room stereo system.
NOTE:  Unlike other "big" iPods (and the 1st gen shuffle), you cannot charge the (2nd-4th gen) shuffle's battery and play the shuffle at the same time.

  • HT1665 how come i cant use other headphones or external speakers with my ipod

how come i cant use headphones or external speakers with my ipod.sood as you plug either in there is no sound.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar

  • Connect an ipod to external speakers and amplifer

how can i connect an ipod to external speakers and amplifer

    Rex,
Since the toslink is optical, the 3.5mm adapter will not work for you as it is only ment as a conversion to a mini-toslink cable. Your first option of using the DAC, is in my opinion the best and perhaps only way to get audio out without going to a fancy amp or tuner first.
One option that I'm considering is the Bose Solo TV sound system. It might set you back about 4-Grant's, but I generally enjoy the sound of bose for most music/tv/movie purposes; and it has a direct optical audio input that you can run either from your tv or your ATV. Whatever audio you're sending to your TV via the HDMI, should go to these speakers through your HDTV's toslink output with equal digital clarity.
I've read a few other posts on the apple discussion forum which lead me to believe that the optical output of the ATV might not work so well after the 5.2 update... so whatever I do, it won't be JUST for use with the ATV.

  • Ipod to external speakers in hot tub

I have a spa that has speakers in the shell. I hooked up the wires from the speakers into my ipod (with cable from radio shack -earphone jack to speaker - 1/8" mini plug to bare wire) and I can hear the music but it is very very soft. Anyone ever hook up something like this? I have hooked up the spa shell to a receiver and it was very loud. I prefer the simplicity of just plugging in an ipod if it is possible. Any ideas how to get more sound out of this setup??
    Thanks.

The speakers need an amplifier which the receiver has.
The iPod only outs out earphone level singals, (~600mAmps) and that’s not enough to drive a speaker.
You could plug in the receiver and plug the iPod audio out into the receiver TAPE or AUX inputs.

  • I had my ipod stolen:(  I am considering getting IPAD 2  , can I attach the IPAD to the external speakers $$ for listening to music?

I had my IPOD stolen   I am considering IPAD 2, am I able to use the "dock"  external speakers $$ with it???

We'd need to know specifically what "dock speakers" you have before anyone could offer information or opinions. I'd suggest just contacting the maker of those dock speakers and asking them. They'll be in the best position to say whether or not their product is compatible with the iPad 2.
    Regards.

  • IPod Classic video stops when plugged into external speakers

Whenever I'm playing video and plug my iPod Classic into external speakers (doesn't matter the speakers, it happens with all of them), the video stops playing and the screen behaves as if I'd pressed the "Menu" button. Extremely annoying when playing video playlists.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yep, it's through the dock. I don't get why Apple keeps "updating" and taking away features. It happened when at first you could shuffle "songs" and "videos", and the videos would play as such. Now they play as "songs", only audio without video.

  • Trying to listen to ipod w/external speakers, but says headphones in

trying to listen to the ipod through external speakers, but the device says headphones are plugged in. We have double checked bluetooth application and it is off.

For the future, it saves time if you list the things you've already done to resolve the problem.
If you have done everything in the troubleshooting steps, including restoring your iPod and it still hasn't fixed the issue, it may well be a hardware problem. I'm guessing your Touch is out of warranty so you may want to investigate one of the third party repair outfits as they are much less expensive than Apple. I have never had reason to use one so I have no recommendations. An internet search for "ipod repair" should turn up some options.
    Best of luck.
