Hooking ipod to new computer

Ok...here's the problem...my laptop computer crashed, where all my itunes songs were kept. there was no saving the comptuer so the only place I have the songs is on my ipod itself. I have a desktop computer that i have downloaded itunes to but i need to transfer ALL of my songs from my ipod to my desktop...how do i do this?

Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Save all the photos from your Droid into a folder on your computer.
Connect your device to your computer. On iTunes left Pane, select iPhone under 'Devices'; then on the right Pane, select PHOTO tab. Make sure Sync Photo box is checked, and "from" box selected the folder that has Droid's photos. Then click the SYNC or APPLY button on the lower right window.

Old Hard drive crashed, need to transfer music from iPod to new computer

Hello. My old hard drive crashed and I bought a new computer. Unfortunately I did not back up any files from my old computer and lost all files including iTunes music. All I have is the music from my iPod. I would like some help or if anyone knows anything about how to transfer the music from my iPod to my new computer. The password is for your iTunes account. Not for your old iPod. Enter your Email and password will give you access to all the music you bought from iTunes. If you forget it then I dont know how to help you there guess your SOL.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.

just recently got new computer, I have a 30g ipod,I'm trying to transfer songs from Ipod to new computer without erasing anything. Have about 1900 songs, half is from Itunes and the other half is from CD'S. Very fearful of erasing everything, someone help me out me.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

Need help re-synching iPods with new computer and getting iTunes to recognize our iPods (it doesn't even recognize them when they're plugged in).
Hubby wiped my harddrive for me, so now I need to get everything back in proper places. I'm using windows XP and installed iTunes once again (I believe it's version 8). I also installed all of my iTunes songs. Now I need to know where to go from here. We have 3 iPods and I need to get them all synched once again. I know how to create different libraries for each of us, but I can't figure out how to get our songs back into our iTunes libraries. When I open iTunes and plug in an iPod, iTunes doesn't even show that an iPod is plugged in.
What do I do now to get each of our iPods synched with our own libraries?

Okay, now how do I synch all of our ipods with our individual libraries (I don't want all of my kids' songs and vice versa)? We each have hundreds of songs on our ipods that we don't want to lose.

I lost the hard drive in old computer. Having trouble transfering files directly from ipod to new computer. Ipod is configured for windows. Old computer was windows XP, new computer is Windows Vista. Get transfer, but it is gibberish of some sort. I don't know what generation ipod. It is a video ipod with wheel and 30GB. It does say version 1.3 for itunes and model MA446LL. Any help?

Synching ipod with new computer and lost music

We just got a new computer and I finally got to hook up my ipod. I tried moving my songs from the ipod into itunes and they wouldn't transfer so now I am synching the ipod with the computer; however, I seem to have lost the original songs that I had on my ipod before I downloaded the new songs. Did I really lose my songs or are they there? If they are there, how do I find them?

Need to upload from IPOD to NEW computer

My computer disk went bad and is unrecoverable.   I have a new PC and am trying to UPLOAD the CDs from my IPOD to my new computer.   I have not been able to find any help on how to do this.   I don't want to have to reload my entire CD library (which took hours and hours)    Surely I am not the first person to have a disk go bad...
On my old computer system I did have a backup disk and do have my Itunes Library on that disk but when I hooked my IPOD up to my new computer ITUNES downloaded onto the main disk instead of recognizing that ITUNES was on the external hard drive that was attached to the computer when I hooked my IPOD up.
My IPOD is a Gen 3 32 Gig It had 4.1 on it and automatically upgraded to 4.3 when I attached it to this computer.   (I had spent time trying to recover the old disk so it has been at least 3 months since my IPOD had synced with the old computer.
I'm not sure what other info would be helpful.

Apple doesn't support the transferring of music from your iPod to your iTunes. Only iTunes to iPod. So to do this you will need to download a third party program that will help copy your music from your iPod back to your computer, or there are a couple manual methods you can check out.

If you iPod is set to automatically update and you plug it into iTunes, a message will pop up telling you that your iPod is linked to another library. It will ask if you want to sync and replace all your music. Make sure you hit NO. If you sync with an empty library, then your iPod will also end up empty, because when it syncs it makes an exact copy of your library.
